Hitting the Road
The next morning in the academy's cafeteria, the Eds were sitting down, having breakfast, going over their plans for today.
"So what now, boys?" asked Eddy.
"We should plan on where we'll go first for our Treasure Hunt assignments." said Edd.
"Any ideas, Double-D?" asked Eddy.
"I've been thinking about that Cassiopeia person who called about bringing down Team Star yesterday." said Edd.
"Are you going to do it?" asked Eddy.
"Maybe. I'm still giving it some thought. But in case I do, I should really train my Pokemon some more and catch some new ones. We didn't really do a lot of that yesterday." said Edd.
"Me, too. I really want to help that Arven guy find those herbs. I should catch new Pokemon friends for my team and train them, too." said Ed.
"And I really need to catch and train Pokemon for my gym battles." said Eddy.
"Very well. Where should we go first?" asked Edd.
"I want to find a Titan Pokemon! Please?!" says Ed. Edd gave in quickly.
"Okay! Okay, Ed! We'll look for a Titan Pokemon." said Edd. Ed smiles in response. "Do you know where we should go to find one?" Ed pulls out his Rotom Phone and brings up the marked map that Arven sent him.
"Arven gave me this map that tells me where we can find them, Double-D." said Ed as he hands Edd his Rotom Phone. Edd looks over the map.
"Well according to this map, the nearest one is in South Province Area Three. We'll need to exit Mesagoza's east gate to get there." said Edd.
"Okay. Let's just finish eating breakfast first; then we'll get our stuff and head over there." said Eddy. Once they got done eating, they went to their dorm rooms, got their backpacks, and met outside the academy doors. As they headed for the stairs, Edd remembered something that Professor Turo mentioned yesterday.
"Fellows. Didn't Professor Turo say we can ride that Miraidon we got yesterday?" asked Edd.
"Yeah." replied Eddy.
"Perhaps we should try doing that now. It will make going down that long flight of stairs easier and quicker." said Edd.
"Now that is a great idea." said Eddy. Ed takes out Miraidon's pokeball and releases it. Miraidon looks at them and squats down.
"I believe he wants us to climb on." said Edd.
"Okay." said Eddy. Ed and Edd gets on Miraidon's back while Eddy clings to its neck. "Let's go, Miraidon." With that, Miraidon's legs tucked in and the wheels on its body touch the ground. It starts to move forward and down the stairs. Ed laughs with delight.
"This is fun!" said Ed.
"This is way better than walking." said Eddy.
"Indeed." said Edd. As they head over to the east gate, Edd sees the Pokemon center near it. "Ed. This would be a good time to sell that Stardust Arven gave you yesterday for money."
"Okay, Double D." said Ed. He had Miraidon stop and he hops off it. He walks to the PokeMart.
"Can I help you, young man?" asked the cashier. Ed holds out the Stardust.
"I want to sell this for money." replied Ed. The cashier takes it and looks inside the pouch.
"Stardust. I can give you fifteen hundred pokedollars for this." said the cashier.
"Okay." said Ed. The cashier gives Ed fifteen hundred pokedollar. Ed uses some of the money to buy two pokeballs. Ed returns to Miraidon and hops onto it. He rode it to the east gate and exit Mesagoza through it and enter the South Province Area Three. The Eds look around at the rocky terrain and several plateaus that cover the landscape.
"So what now guys?" asked Ed. The Eds suddenly see a small, light blue, quadraped Pokemon with black fur covering the back half of its body and a four pointed star at the end of its tail. Edd pulls out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Shinx, the Flash Pokemon. The extension and contraction of its muscles generate electricity. Its fur glows when it's in trouble." said the Rotom Phone.
"Perhaps this would be a perfect opportunity to start building up our teams and getting our Pokemon some experience." said Edd.
"I'll take this one." said Eddy. He pulls out a pokeball and throws it, releasing his Hoppip. All of a sudden, the Shinx glares menacingly at Hoppip, making him tremble in fear.
"Eddy, I think that Shinx has the Intimidate ability. That will weaken Hoppip's attack power." said Edd.
"Oh man." said Eddy. "Hoppip, use Tail Whip." Hoppip turns around and shakes his tail at Shinx.
"Very good, Eddy. Weakening Shinx's defense will compensate for Hoppip's weakened attack power." said Edd. Shinx suddenly releases a jolt of electricity that hits Hoppip.
"It seems this Shinx knows Thunder Shock." said Edd.
"Oh yeah?! Hoppip, use Absorb." said Eddy. Hoppip releases a stream of green energy which hits Shinx and drains it of stamina. Hoppip's wounds from the Thunder Shock attack healed.
"Good move, Eddy. Absorb not only drains its target of stamina, but some of it is also used to heal the Pokemon that used it." said Edd.
"Sweet!" said Eddy. Shinx started gathering energy into itself.
"I think Shinx knows Charge. That will double the power of its next move if it's an electric type move as well as increase its defense." said Edd.
"Hurry, Hoppip. Use Sleep Powder." said Eddy. Hoppip starts shaking himself, releasing a blue powder that floats towards Shinx and surrounds it. Shinx suddenly gets wobbly and falls asleep.
"Good work, Eddy. Now it can't attack, and it should be easier to capture." said Edd. Eddy takes out an empty pokeball from his backpack and throws it at Shinx, hitting it and sucking it in. The pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking, indicating a successful capture.
"I did it!" said Eddy as he runs over to the pokeball and picks it up.
"Congratulations, Eddy." said Edd. Eddy's Rotom Phone suddenly chimes. Eddy takes it out of his pocket and looks at it.
"This says my Shinx is a girl, she knows Tackle, Leer, Thunder Shock, and Charge. And we already know she has the Intimidate ability." said Eddy.
"Very good, Eddy." said Edd. After that, the Eds continued to explore the area while training their Pokemon. Ed's Sprigatito mainly battled the Nacli found there, he learned Magical Leaf and Quick Attack; his Lechonk battled other Shinxes and he soon learned Mud Shot; his Pawmi got a bit stronger as did his Yungoos, and his Shroodle learned Switcheroo and Poison Fang. Edd's Quaxly learned Aqua Jet, his Tarountula learned Bug Bite, his Spewpa got a bit stronger, and his Diglett learned Mud Slap. Eddy's Fuecoco learned Bite and Incinerate, his Hoppip learned Bullet Seed and Synthesis, his Fletchling learned Flail, and his Shinx learned Bite. During the training, Edd's Spewpa evolved into a Pokemon that looked like a butterfly that had partly green wings. Edd takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at his newly evolved Pokemon.
"Vivillon, the Scale Pokemon, and Scatterbug's fully evolved form. This Pokemon was born in a mysterious land. It scatters colorful, toxic scales from its wings during battle." said the Rotom Phone.
"Magnificent!" said Edd. He looks up more of his new Vivillon's information. "This says my new Vivillon now knows Gust, Poison Powder, Stun Spore, Sleep Powder, and Light Screen. She has the Compound Eyes ability which increases her accuracy." Ed captured a Makuhita, Edd captured a Nacli, and Eddy captured a Spoink. Eddy sees that he only had one of the pokeballs Nemona gave him left.
"I need more pokeballs. This is my last one." said Eddy.
"I'm only down to one pokeball as well. We need to buy more somehow." said Edd. As Ed looks around, he sees a beam of light coming out of a cluster of large crystals coming out of the ground.
"Guys. What's that?" asked Ed. Edd and Eddy turn to look at the crystal cluster Ed noticed.
"I'm not sure, Ed. I've noticed quite a few of them around here." said Edd. As Ed examined the cluster, he noticed a small opening in the side of it. Out of curiosity, he begins to crawl inside. "Edd! Don't go crawling into unknown things, it could be dangerous!" But Ed was already inside.
"Oh, great. Should we go in after him?" asked Eddy.
"I suppose we should. But we should both be careful, Eddy." said Edd. The two then crawl in and soon enter a large crystal cavern.
"Boy, it looks larger on the inside than it did on the outside." said Eddy. The two look around until they see Ed near the center of the cavern, looking at something. Ed and Edd look in the direction Ed was staring to see a blue birdlike Pokemon that looked like it had clouds for wings. They also see that it was Terastillized and it had purple skull and crossbones coming out of a crown it had on its head. Edd takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Swablu, the Cotton Bird Pokemon. It can't relax if it or its surroundings are not clean. It wipes off dirt with its wings." said the Rotom Phone.
"Wow. It kind of reminds me of you, sockhead." said Eddy. Edd stares at Swablu with interest.
"Since it seems to have a similar trait to myself, perhaps I should capture it." said Edd. He takes notice of the skull and crossbones on the Swablu's head. "I wonder what it's Tera Form is?"
"What Pokemon type would suit skull and crossbones?" asked Eddy.
"Perhaps the poison type, which means a ground or psychic types would be the most effective choice to battle it." said Edd as he pulls out Diglett's pokeball and throws it, releasing him.
"We'll back you up, Double-D." said Eddy as he releases his new Spoink and Ed releases Lechonk.
"Diglett, use Mud Slap." said Edd. Diglett lobs a glob of mud at Swablu which hits it, doing super effective damage and lowering it's accuracy. "It seems in its new Tera Form, Swablu loses the advantage of being immune to ground type attacks it would've had in it's normal state with it being part flying type.
"Okay, Spoink. Use Confusion." said Eddy. Spoink's eyes glow blue and a blue aura envelops Swablu, squeezing and doing super effective damage to it.
"Lechonk, use Mud Shot." said Ed. Lechonk releases a big glob of mud from its mouth which hits it, doing super effective damage, and lowering its speed. Swablu then opens its beak and releases a soundwave which hits Diglett, damaging him.
"Diglett, use Scratch." said Edd. Diglett tunnels towards the Swablu and scratches at it, damaging it. Suddenly, it's crystal skin and skull and crossbones shatter. Seeing that the Swablu looked tired, Edd takes out his remaining pokeball and throws it at the Swablu. As the pokeball flies towards Swablu, it starts drawing in small specks of crystal until it was covered in them. In a small flash of light, the pokeball became crystallized. It hits the Swablu and sucks it in. The ball wiggles a few times before clicking, indicating a successful capture. Edd runs over to the pokeball and picks it up.
"You did it, Double-D!" cheered Ed.
"What happened to your pokeball?" asked Eddy.
"I'm not sure, Eddy." said Edd. The cavern suddenly shines with a bright light which forces the Eds to cover their eyes. When the light fades, the Eds uncover their eyes to see that they were back outside.
"That was weird." said Eddy. The crystal cluster they entered suddenly shattered into pieces. "What the..."
"Where did the shiny rocks go, Double-D?" asked Ed.
"I'm not sure, Ed." said Edd. As he examined the area where the crystals were, he sees several items, including two bags of Stardust. Edd picks them up.
"Hey! Isn't that Stardust?" asked Eddy. Edd opens the bags and sees that it was in fact, Stardust.
"It would appear so, Eddy." said Edd. "I should sell these and use the money to buy more pokeballs for myself."
"But where did it come from?" asked Eddy.
"I'm not sure, Eddy." said Edd.
"Do you think they were in those crystal things?" asked Eddy.
"Possibly. Perhaps we should find another of those clusters and find out." said Edd.
"If there's stuff in them we can sell for a lot of money, I'm in." said Eddy. Before they do, Edd decides to look at his new Swablu's information.
"This says my Swablu's a girl, she knows Peck, Round, Dragon Breath, and Disarming Voice. She has the Natural Cure ability which cures her of status conditions when she's returned to her pokeball." said Edd. The Eds look around and quickly see another beam of light nearby. The Eds go over to where the light was coming from and see another crystal cluster. "Okay, let's go in." The Eds enter and found themselves inside another crystal cavern. In front of them was a brownish white, snakelike Pokemon with crystallized skin and a purple crystal ghost on its head. Eddy takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Silicobra, the Sand Snake Pokemon. Silicobra's large nostrils are specialized for spraying sand, so this Pokemon is not very good at telling apart different smells." said the Rotom Phone.
"Judging by that crystal ghost on it, I'd say this Pokemon's Tera Form is a ghost type. So I recommend using a Pokemon that has a dark or ghost type attack." said Edd. Eddy takes out a pokeball.
"Let's go, Fuecoco." said Eddy, throwing Fuecoco's pokeball and releasing him.
"Come out, Sprigatito." said Ed, throwing Sprigatito's pokeball and releasing him.
"Tarountula, please assist." said Edd, throwing Tarountula's pokeball and releasing her.
"Fuecoco, Bite." said Eddy.
"You use Bite too, Sprigatito." said Ed. Both Pokemon leap at Silicobra and bites onto it, doing super effective damage. A sandstorm suddenly appears inside the cave.
"Where did this sand come from?!" asked Eddy.
"This Silicobra must have the Sand Spit ability." said Edd.
"What's that?" asked Ed.
"When the Pokemon with the ability gets hit with an attack, a sandstorm appears." said Edd.
"Tarountula, use Assurance." said Edd. Tarountula leaps at Silicobra and strikes it with her legs, causing super effective damage. Silicobra's tail glows pink and it swings it at Fuecoco, hitting it. "I think that was Brutal Swing." The sandstorm hits the Eds Pokemon, hurting them, and Silicobra.
"Fuecoco, use Incinerate." said Eddy. Fuecoco opens his mouth and unleashes a fireball out of it and it hits Silicobra. Its crystal skin and ghost shatters and it begins slithers around dizzily. Eddy takes out his last pokeball and throws it at Silicobra, hitting it. It gets sucked into the pokeball and after wiggling around, it stops and clicks, indicating its capture. Eddy walks over to the pokeball and picks it up. "Woohoo. Silicobra's mine." He takes out his Rotom Phone to learn more about his new Silicobra. "Okay, Silicobra's a girl, she knows Bulldoze, Brutal Swing, Headbutt, and Coil. And I already know about the Sand Spit ability." They exit the cave and the crystal pillars vanish. Nearby were two small mushrooms. "That's it?! A couple of lousy mushrooms?!"
"Actually, Eddy. Each Tiny Mushroom is worth two hundred and fifty pokedollars. Since there's two of them, you can get five hundred pokedollars." said Edd. Eddy quickly picks up the mushrooms.
"Come to Eddy." said Eddy. They continue to explore more of the area until they found another crystal cluster and enter it. Once inside, they see a mushroom like Pokemon. Ed takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Shroomish, the Mushroom Pokemon. If it senses danger, it scatters spores from the top of its head to protect itself." said the Rotom Phone. Edd sees that the Shroomish has a winged heart on top of it.
"I assume this Pokemon's Tera Form is a fairy type, so steel and poison type moves should have effect on it." said Edd. Ed pulls out a pokeball.
"Come out, Shroodle." said Ed, throwing Shroodle's pokeball and releasing him.
"Vivillon, please assist." said Edd, throwing Vivillon's pokeball and releasing her.
"Fuecoco, let's go." said Eddy, throwing Fuecoco's pokeball and releasing him. Their Pokemon stood ready for battle.
"Shroodle, use Acid Spray." said Ed. Shroodle releases a spray of orange liquid from his mouth which hits Shroomish, causing super effective damage.
"Vivillon, use Gust." said Edd. Vivillon flaps her wings together, creating a blast of wind which hits Shroomish, damaging it.
"Fuecoco, use Incinerate." said Eddy. Fuecoco launches a fireball out of his mouth which hits and damages Shroomish. Shroomish rushes at Vivillon and rams its head into her, damaging Vivillon and making her flinch.
"I believe that was Headbutt. Now Vivillon can't attack for a short while." said Edd.
"Don't worry, Double-D; we got this." said Eddy.
"Shroodle, use Poison Fang." said Ed. Shroodle's front teeth glow purple and he rushes at Shroomish and bites down on it, doing super effective damage and dispelling it's Tera Form. Ed takes a pokeball and throws it at Shroomish, hitting it and sucking it in. The ball wiggles a few times before it clicks. Ed runs over to the pokeball and picks it up. The cavern flashes brightly and the Eds soon find themselves back outside. The crystal cluster shatters, leaving behind some items, including three pearls. Ed goes over and picks them up.
"How come you get pearls while I get mushrooms?!" asked Eddy.
"Now, Eddy. Maybe you can find some more valuable items in some of the other clusters." said Edd. All of a sudden, Shroomish's pokeball vanishes from Ed's hand, surprising Ed.
"AUUUGGGGHHHH!" screamed Ed. "Where did Shroomish's pokeball go?!"
"A trainer can only carry up to six Pokemon with them at once. After that, any other Pokemon you capture gets sent to storage." explained Edd.
"But I like my Shroomish." said Ed.
"If you want him back, let me see your Rotom Phone and I'll help you get him back." said Edd. Ed hands Edd his Rotom Phone and Edd brings up the Pokemon Storage System. "What Pokemon would you like to exchange for Shroomish?"
"Maybe Yungoos." said Ed. Edd proceeds to show Ed how to swap Pokemon that he had for one in his Pokemon Storage Boxes. He sent Yungoos to storage and got Shroomish back from it. He then gives Ed his Rotom Phone back and he uses it to learn more about his new Shroomish.
"My Shroomish is a girl, she knows Headbutt, Bullet Seed, Spore, and Absorb." said Ed. "She has an ability called Poison Heal."
"A fascinating ability, Ed. The ability makes it so the Pokemon with the ability that's poisoned regains stamina instead of losing it." said Edd.
"Cool." said Ed.
"Yeah, yeah. Let's find a Pokemon Center so we can sell this stuff and buy some more pokeballs." said Eddy.
"Some Potions wouldn't hurt either, Eddy." said Edd.
"Fine. Let's go." said Eddy. The Eds use their map to make their way to the Pokemon Center in South Province Area Three. When they get there, they give the nurse their Pokemon for treatment and sell the items they got at the PokeMart. They also bought some pokeballs also. While they waited for their Pokemon to be healed, the Eds took the time to have dinner. As they ate, Edd looks up at the sky and sees it was getting dark.
"It seems we spent more time catching and training our Pokemon than we realized." said Edd. "I don't think we'll be able to find that Titan Pokemon so easily at night."
"Awww." Ed moaned.
"Be patient, Ed. We can look after breakfast tomorrow morning." said Edd.
"Okay, Double-D." said Ed. After they ate, they got their Pokemon back and set up their tent for the night. They go inside it, get into their sleeping bags, and go to sleep. Not far from where they were, on a large rock, a massive, crablike Pokemon was clinging onto it, also sleeping.
