Onward to Cortondo
After leaving the cavern where they found the Sweet Herba Mystica, the Eds try to figure out what they were going to do next.
"So what now?" asked Ed.
"I really want to get started on challenging the gyms." said Eddy.
"How about the Cortondo gym, Eddy. I hear that gym is a good place for beginning trainers to start collecting gym badges." said Edd.
"Fine. Let's get going." said Eddy. As Ed pulls Miraidon's pokeball out of his backpack, Edd sees something on a nearby sign. A small purple Pokemon carrying a coin on its back. Edd recognizes it.
"Eddy. That's a Gimmighoul Roaming Form, and it has a coin." said Edd. Eddy quickly looks towards the Gimmighoul.
"Sweet! I can get coins for my Gimmighoul." said Eddy. He slowly sneaks up to the Gimmighoul and once he got close enough, he plucks the coin it has out of its hands.
"Good work, Eddy." said Edd. Eddy lets his Gimmighoul out of his pokeball and he drops the coin into his chest. After that, Eddy returns Gimmighoul to his pokeball.
"Can we take a look around for more of those Gimmighoul Roaming Forms? I really want my Gimmighoul to evolve." said Eddy.
"Very well. We shall assist." said Edd. The Eds spent a large part of the afternoon looking around South Province Area Three. They found several Gimmighouls carrying a random number of coins. The sun was starting to go down while the Eds were checking out some ruins in the area. Eddy walks over to a Gimmighoul sitting on a broken wall.
"Hey! Look behind you!" said Eddy as he points behind it. The Gimmighoul turns to see nothing where Eddy was pointing and sees nothing. Eddy quickly snatches the five coins from Gimmighoul. "Sucker!" Eddy quickly runs back to his friends. "Who's the man with the plan?"
"Eddy!" said Ed and Edd.
"You got that right!" said Eddy as he holds up one of the coins he got, only for a blackish blue, birdlike Pokemon whos head feathers kind of looked like a witch's hat flew out of nowhere and plucks the coin out of Eddy's hand. "Hey! My coin!" Edd pulls out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Murkrow, the Darkness Pokemon. If spotted, it will lure an unwary person into chasing it, then lose the pursuer on mountain trails." said the Rotom Phone. Eddy dropped to his knees and starts pounding the ground.
"When will the torment stop?! It was in the palm of my hands. Who invented birds anyway?! What good are they?" (a/n: That line was from the episode 'Virt-Ed-Go'.) exclaimed Eddy. Ed watches as the Murkrow flies up to a nearby cliff.
"It went up there, Eddy." said Ed.
"Perhaps you should try capturing it, Eddy." said Edd.
"I hate birds. But I want that coin back, so I guess I'll have to." said Eddy.
"Murkrows are part flying and part dark types, which will give you some more advantages in your gym battles." said Edd.
"Fine." said Eddy as he runs to where the Murkrow landed. As Edd watches him run off, he notices a roundish hexagon shaped Pokemon floating around. He takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Bronzor, the Bronze Pokemon. They are found in ancient tombs. The patterns on their backs are said to be imbued with mysterious power." said the Rotom Phone.
"Perhaps I shall capture this Pokemon." said Edd. He pulls out a pokeball. "Since Bronzors are part psychic, this Pokemon will suffice. Tarountula, please assist." He throws Tarountula's pokeball and releases her. "Tarountula, Assurance!" Tarountula leaps at Bronzor and strikes it with her legs, causing super effective damage due to dark type moves being strong against psychic type Pokemon. Bronzor flies at Tarountula and rams her. "I believe that was Tackle. Tarountula, use Bug Bite!" Tarountula runs at Bronzor and bites it. Bronzor's eyes glow purple and unleashes purple beams from its body and they hit Tarountula. She begins stumbling around. "Oh my. That was Confuse Ray. Tarountula, try using Assurance!" Tarountula fights through her confusion and hits Bronzor, knocking it to the ground. Edd takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Bronzor, hitting it and sucking it in. After it wiggled around for a few seconds, it stops and clicks. Edd picks up the pokeball. "Splendid. Bronzor is mine." The pokeball vanishes due to Edd already having six Pokemon. Tarountula suddenly begins to glow. "Tarountula, you're evolving." When Tarountula stopped glowing, she was a lot bigger, she stood on her back legs which were half magenta and half dark grayish blue, her lower abdomen was wrapped in a red wrapping while her upper torso looked like she was wearing magenta chest armor. Edd takes out his Rotom Phone and he points it at his newly evolved Tarountula.
"Spidops, the Trap Pokemon and the evolved form of Tarountula. Spidops covers its territory in tough, sticky threads to set up traps for intruders." said the Rotom Phone.
"Amazing. And this says that you just learned Silk Trap. Congratulations, Spidops." said Edd. He then brings up the Pokemon Storage app on his Rotom Phone and trades his Vivillon for his new Bronzor. "And this says my Bronzor has no gender, it knows Tackle, Confusion, Confuse Ray, and Payback. It has the Levitate ability which makes it immune to ground type attacks." While Edd works on training his new Pokemon, Eddy makes his way to the cliff where the Murkrow took his Gimmighoul coin. As he does, he sees another Gimmighoul on a nearby rock and takes the two coins it had.
"Sweet! Now for that Murkrow." said Eddy. He soon finds it under a tree with the Gimmighoul coin behind it. "Hey! Give me back that coin!" Murkrow just smirks back at Eddy and waves its rear at him, angering Eddy. "Oh, yeah?!" Eddy takes out Shinx's pokeball and releases him from it. Shinx glares at the Murkrow, making it nervous. "I love that Intimidate ability. Now, Shinx; use Thunder Shock!" Shinx releases a jolt of electricity at Murkrow, hitting it and doing super effective damage. Murkrow flies at Shinx and hits him with its wing, but Shinx just shakes it off. "Shinx, use Bite!" Shinx jumps at Murkrow and bites it, not doing much damage, but making it flinch. "Now use Tackle!" Shinx charges at Murkrow and slams into it, knocking it to the ground. Seeing it struggling to get up, Eddy takes out a pokeball he got yesterday from the PokeMart and throws it at the Murkrow, hitting it and sucking it in. A few seconds later, the pokeball clicks. Eddy runs over to the pokeball and picks it up. "That'll teach you to steal from me." The pokeball suddenly vanishes to storage. Eddy runs over to the Gimmighoul coin and picks it up. "Got it back. Thanks, Shinx." Shinx smiles back at Eddy. She suddenly twitches and starts to glow. "Sweet! You're evolving!" When Shinx was done glowing, she was slightly bigger, and black fur covered her head except her face. Eddy pulls out his Rotom Phone and points it at his newly evolved Pokemon.
"Luxio, the Spark Pokemon and the evolved form of Shinx. By gathering their tails together, they collectively generate powerful electricity from their claws." said the Rotom Phone.
"Sweet." said Eddy. He then brings up Pokemon Storage on his Rotom Phone and swaps his Hoppip for Murkrow. He looks at Murkrow's information. "Okay, this says Murkrow is a boy, he knows Peck, Astonish, Gust, Haze, and Wing Attack; and his ability is Insomnia which makes him immune to the sleep status condition." At another part of South Province Area Three, Ed was approaching another crystal cavern and enters it. He finds himself in a crystal cavern. On the other side of it was a light blue, turtlelike Pokemon he remembered seeing on the day he, Edd, and Eddy arrived in Paldea. He takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Chewtle, the Snapping Pokemon. A popular game among children is to lift up sticks that Chewtle have bitten onto to see who's Chewtle can hang on the longest." said the Rotom Phone. The Chewtle had a crystal snowflake on its head, indicating that the Chewtle's Tera Form is an ice type. Ed takes out a pokeball.
"Come on out, Klawf!" said Ed, throwing Klawf's pokeball and releasing her. "Use Rock Tomb!" Gray rocks form around Klawf and she unleashes them at the Chewtle, causing super effective damage due to rock type moves being strong agains ice types like Chewtle's tera form. Chewtle opens its mouth and unleashes a spiral of water, and it hits Klawf, causing super effective damage. Klawf glares angrily at Chewtle and begins glowing red, indicating her Anger Shell ability activating. "Now use Rock Smash!" Klawf's claw glows white and she smashes Chewtle with it, doing super effective damage and weakening Chewtle's defense. Chewtle rams its head onto Klawf, but not doing a lot of damage to her. "Rock Throw!" Klawf releases multiple rocks from her body, and they hit Chewtle, doing super effective damage. Chewtle's crystal skin and snowflake vanishes, and it collapses. Ed takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Chewtle, hitting it and sucking it in. After a couple seconds, it stops and clicks. "Yeah! Chewtle is mine!" Chewtle's pokeball vanishes. Ed exits the cave, and it vanishes also. He sees a pearl on the ground and picks it up. The Eds meet back at the ruins and talk about what they accomplished. While Edd trained his new Bronzor, it learned Imprison and Gyro Ball. Eddy trained his new Luxio and she learned Spark.
"We've gotten a lot done today, gentlemen." said Edd.
"You know it, sockhead." said Eddy.
"So what now?" asked Ed. Edd looks up at the sky and sees the stars coming out.
"I think we should head back to Uva Academy and get some dinner, then go to bed." said Edd. Eddy stretches and yawns.
"Good idea, sockhead." said Eddy. Ed yawns and pulls out Miraidon's pokeball and releases him from it. The Eds climb onto Miraidon and they quickly head back to Mesagoza.
"This new speed boost ability of Miraidon really helps gets us places quicker." said Edd as they zoomed down a trail.
"We'll be back in Mesagoza in no time." said Eddy. A few seconds later, they arrived at Mesagoza. They make their way to Uva Academy and go inside. A minute later, they were in the cafeteria having some dinner.
"Tomorrow morning after breakfast, we'll head to Cortondo for your gym battle." said Edd.
"Good. I can't wait to start collecting badges." said Eddy. After dinner, they head for their dorm rooms, shower (except for Ed), and go to sleep. The next morning after they had breakfast, they head for Mesagoza's west gate. On the way to the gate, Ed took the time to stop at the PokeMart to sell the pearl he got the previous day and got one thousand pokedollars for it. He also took the time to recharge his Tera Orb after using it on Floragato when he battled against the Titan Pokemon the previous day. He uses some of the money he got to buy two pokeballs and a potion. After that, they soon arrived at the west gate of Mesagoza.
"Are we ready to go, gentlemen?" asked Edd.
"Let's get going. There's a gym badge with my name on it." said Eddy. Ed takes out Miraidon's pokeball and lets him out. The Eds hop on and exit through the gate. Destination: Cortondo.
