Butters' First Pokemon
After leaving Mesagoza through the east gate, Stan, Kyle, Cartman, Kenny, and Butters observed the area outside the gate known as South Province Area Three from atop their Koraidons. It was rocky with high terrain and plateaus.
"So what do we do first, fellas?" asked Butters.
"I think the first thing we should do is to get you some Pokemon." replied Stan.
"Well how do you get Pokemon?" asked Butters. Before anyone could answer, they see a dark blue and black, birdlike Pokemon fly over to a large rock and perch itself onto it. Kenny takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Rookidee, the Tiny Bird Pokemon. This Pokemon is brave and reckless. The white markings around a Rookidee's eyes intimidate fainthearted Pokemon." said Kenny's Rotom Phone.
"I have an idea, Butters. I can show you how to catch a Pokemon by catching this one while you watch." said Kenny.
"Hey, that's not a bad idea, dude." said Kyle. Kenny takes out his Wooper's pokeball.
"All right, Wooper, let's go." said Kenny as he throws Wooper's pokeball and releases him.
"As you just saw, Butters, you throw a pokeball to release the Pokemon inside it." said Stan.
"I'll try to remember that, Stan." said Butters. The Rookidee sees Wooper and goes into a battle stance.
"All right, Wooper, use Poison Tail." said Kenny. Wooper leaps at Rookidee while his tail begins to glow purple and he swings it and it hits Rookidee, knocking it back, but it remained in mid-air.
"You see, Butters; you tell your Pokemon what move you want it to use, and it will use it on what Pokemon you want it to use the move on." said Cartman, putting a hand on Butter's shoulder.
"Okay, Eric." said Butters. Rookidee flies at Wooper and pecks it, knocking it back a little, but he remained standing. It suddenly turned purple under Rookidee's eyes and it began breathing heavily.
"Looks like Wooper's Poison Point ability activated." said Kyle.
"What's that?" asked Butters.
"Every Pokemon has its own ability." said Kyle. "For example, Wooper's ability is Poison Point, which has a chance of poisoning a Pokemon that attacks Wooper physically like that Rookidee just did, so now it's going to start losing a bit of its stamina."
"Poison?" replied Butters with a worried tone.
"Don't worry, Butters. There are antidotes and a berry called a Pecha Berry that can cure poisoning instantly." said Kyle.
"Really?" said Butters.
"And there are medical facilities for Pokemon called Pokemon Centers that can also help heal Pokemon and cure them of any status condition." said Cartman.
"Oh wow!" replied Butters.
"Wooper, use Tackle." said Kenny. Wooper leaps at Rookidee and rams into it, knocking it to the ground. It struggles to get up. "Okay, Butters, catching Pokemon is easier when you wear them out by battling them. Once the Pokemon is weak enough, you push the button on an empty pokeball to make it bigger and throw it at the Pokemon." Kenny pushes the button of an empty pokeball and enlarges it, surprising Butters, and Kenny throws the pokeball at the weakened Rookidee. The pokeball opens up and Rookidee turns into red light and it gets sucked into the pokeball and it closes and falls to the ground. It wiggles around for a few seconds until it stops and clicks. Kenny walks over to the pokeball and picks it up and holds it towards Butters. "And that, Butters, is how you catch a Pokemon." Butters looks on in amazement.
"That...was...SUPER NEATO!" exclaimed Butters, excitedly, making Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny smile in response. Kenny picks up one of Rookidee's feathers that it lost during the battle. Kenny takes out his Rotom Phone to learn more about his new Rookidee.
"Okay, this says my new Rookidee is female, she knows Leer, Peck, Power Trip, Hone Claws, and Fury Attack. She has the ability, Keen Eye, which prevents her accuracy from being lowered." said Kenny.
"So, you got all that, Butters?" asked Stan.
"I think so, fellas? Thanks." replied Butters.
"Okay, I want to take Rookidee to a Pokemon Center to heal her." said Kenny. Kyle takes out his Rotom Phone and turns on the map app on it.
"Okay, dudes, if we continue up this trail here, we should reach a Pokemon Center in about a minute." said Kyle. As they walk up the trail to the Pokemon Center, Butters notices a small, humanoid Pokemon that looks like it was sporting red and black medieval armor with a small red, magenta, and blue flame coming out of the back of its head coming out from behind a small plateau.
"Hey, fellas. What Pokemon is that?" asked Butters, pointing at the Pokemon. Stan spots the Pokemon and points his Rotom Phone at it.
"Charcadet, the Fire Child Pokemon. Burnt charcoal came to life and became a Pokemon. Possessing a fiery fighting spirit, Charcadet will battle even tough opponents." said the Rotom Phone.
"Sounds like a real brave Pokemon." said Butters. Stan looks at Butters.
"You want to capture this Pokemon, Butters?" asked Stan.
"Sure, Stan." replied Stan. Stan turns to Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny.
"You three take Rookidee to the Pokemon Center, I'll help Butters capture Charcadet." said Stan.
"You got it, Stan." said Kyle. He, Cartman, and Kenny ran up the trail to the Pokemon Center. Stan and Butters run over to where Charcadet it. It sees them and goes into a battle stance. Stan pulls a pokeball out of his pocket.
"Come on out, Quaxly." said Stan, throwing Quaxly's pokeball and releasing him. "All right, Butters, this will be a good time to teach you about type advantages."
"Type advantages?" asked Butters.
"Yes, there are several types of Pokemon and several types of attacks." said Stan. "For example, I'm using Quaxly because he's a water type which should have an advantage against fire types like Charcadet. Observe. All right, Quaxly, use Water Gun." Quaxly opens his beak and releases a spiral of water from it and it hits Charcadet, causing super effective damage, knocking it back. "As you just saw, Butters, water type attacks like Water Gun causes a lot of damage to fire type Pokemon."
"Boy. Sounds like I have a lot to learn." said Butters.
"Don't worry, Butters. You'll learn in no time." said Stan. Charcadet jumps up and releases small streams of white smog from the holes in its helmet and they hit Quaxly, knocking him back.
"What was that?" asked Butters.
"I think that was Clear Smog." said Stan. "Don't worry, poison type moves like Clear Smog won't hurt Quaxly too badly. Some moves don't hurt some Pokemon too much, but some will cause a moderate amount of damage. Okay, Quaxly, use Wing Attack." Quaxly flies at Charcadet and strikes it with one of his wings, knocking it to the ground.
"Did that do moderate damage, Stan?" asked Butters.
"Yes, it did, Butters." said Stan. Charcadet gets back up and shoots small balls of fire out of the holes in its helmet and they hit Quaxly, but not doing much damage to him. "That was Ember, I know this because Cartman's Fuecoco knows that move too. Fortunately, fire type attacks don't do much damage to water type like Quaxly." Charcadet continued facing Quaxly with a look of determination on its face.
"Looks like Charcadet doesn't want to give up. Now I really want this Pokemon." said Butters.
'You will get this Pokemon, Butters. I promise you that.' Stan thought to himself. "Quaxly! Water Gun!" Feeling Stan's determination, Quaxly shoots a stronger Water Gun at Charcadet, hitting it, causing critical, super effective damage to it. It falls to the ground. "Butters! Catch it!" Butters pulls a pokeball out of his pocket, pushes the button on it to enlarge it and throws it at Charcadet, hitting it. The pokeball opens while Charcadet turns into red light and it gets sucked into the pokeball and it shuts and falls to the ground. It wiggles around for a couple of seconds until it clicks and stops. Butters walks to it, picks it up and looks at it with a stunned look on his face. "Congratulations, Butters. You caught your first Pokemon." Butters looks at Stan with tears in his eyes.
"Thanks, Stan. I couldn't have done it without you." said Butters.
"No problem, Butters." said Stan. Let's go meet up with the others so we bring Charcadet to the Pokemon Center to get it healed." said Butters.
"Okay, Stan." said Butters. He and Stan run up the trail. Soon, they arrived at the Pokemon Center where they see a nurse giving Kenny Wooper and Rookidee's pokeballs while Kyle and Cartman were waiting at a table.
"Here. Your Pokemon are back to full health." said the nurse.
"Thank you, ma'am." said Kenny. He walks over to Kyle and Cartman when he spots Stan and Butters. "Oh, hey guys. How'd it go?" Butters holds up Charcadet's pokeball, smiling.
"I caught Charcadet." said Butters.
"Congratulations, Butters." said Cartman, walking over to Butters and high fiving him.
"Thanks, Eric." said Butters.
"Come on, Butters. Let's get Quaxly and Charcadet healed at the Pokemon Center." said Stan.
"Okay, Stan." said Butters.
"So, what's Butters' new Charcadet like?" asked Kyle. Stan pulls out his Rotom Phone to look up Charcadet's information.
"Okay. This says that Butters' Charcadet is a boy. He knows Leer, Ember, Astonish, Clear Smog, and Fire Spin. He has the ability, Flash Fire, which activates when he's hit with a fire type attack. When activated, his own fire type attacks become stronger, and he becomes immune to fire type attacks himself." explained Stan.
"Whoa. That sounds cool." said Kyle.
"Yeah." said Butters. Stan takes Butters to the nurse and they hand her Quaxly and Charcadet's pokeballs after Stan explains to Butters what each person and the machine at the Pokemon Center does. After their Pokemon are healed, they got them back from the nurse and saw that it was starting to get dark out. So, they decided to make camp in a clearing and have dinner. After they and their Pokemon ate, the boys went into the tent they brought, got into their sleeping bags, and went to sleep. During the night, Butters was having a nightmare about his parents chasing after him down the hallway of his former home with his poor excuse for a father with a belt in his hand. His stirring and whimpering wakes up Cartman who notices Butters' behavior. Realizing that he was having a nightmare, Cartman shakes Butters to wake him up. Butters wakes up screaming, which wakes up Stan, Kyle, and Kenny.
"Whoa, dude. What's wrong?" asked Stan. Butters was crying hysterically.
"What's wrong with Butters?" asked Kyle.
"I think Butters was having a nightmare." said Cartman. He grabs Butters, pulls him into a hug and pats his back. Once Butters realized what he experienced was a nightmare, he calmed down.
"Are you okay, Butters?" asked Kenny.
"Yeah, fellas. Sorry if I woke you up." said Butters.
"What were you dreaming about?" asked Kyle.
"M-M-My p-p-parents." said Butters. The boys realized now why Butters was so terrified. Cartman turns Butters' head toward him so he was looking him in the eyes.
"Butters. Listen to me. Your lousy parents are in prison so they can't get to you. Plus, your thousands of miles away from them so they won't be able to find you. And if by some chance that they somehow manage to track you here, we will NOT LET THEM TOUCH YOU!" Cartman says to Butters.
"That's right. Us and our Pokemon will make sure that they don't lay a finger on you or even let them see you, ever!" said Kenny.
"Yeah. You're our friend, Butters. We will be there for you." said Stan. Butters eyes start forming tears and the boys brought him into a group hug. After that, they all went back into their sleeping bags. Before Cartman went to sleep, he had a suggestion for Butters.
"Hey, dude. How about you have your Charcadet sleep with you tonight. Having him with you might make you feel safer and help with the nightmares." suggested Cartman.
"Good idea." said Butters. He pulls out Charcadet's pokeball and releases him from it. "Hey, Charcadet. I was wondering if you could sleep with me tonight. Cartman said that having you close by might help me feel safe." Charcadet nods in response and gets into Butters' sleeping bag and snuggles himself against his chest. The warmth of Charcadet's body helped Butters get to sleep. He had another dream much like the last one, but it played out a little differently than the last one. Butters was in his old room sitting on his bed when his ex-parents barge into his room with furious expressions on their faces.
"You're gonna get it now, mister!" said Dream Stephen Stotch. Butters looks around for an escape route when his eyes settled on Charcadet's pokeball. He grabs it and throws it, releasing Charcadet and surprising his dream parents.
"What is that?!" asked Dream Linda Stotch.
"Charcadet, use Fire Spin!" said Butters. Charcadet releases a stream of fire which forms into a swirling vortex around his dream parents and reduces them to black vapor. Butters smiles and hugs Charcadet in gratitude.
"Thanks, Charcadet." said Butters. In the real world, Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman see Butters smiling, making them smile as well.
"Thanks, Charcadet." said Stan. The next morning after they and their Pokemon had breakfast, the boys split up with Butters going with Cartman. They all continued to explore the area and train their Pokemon by battling the wild Pokemon in the area. Cartman had Butters stay close to him so he could give Butters some pointers. As Cartman and Butters looked around the area, Butters sees a brown, goat-like Pokemon with green leaves around its neck. "What's that Pokemon, Eric?" Cartman sees the Pokemon and points his Rotom Phone at it.
"Skiddo, the Mount Pokemon. Until recently, people living in the mountains would ride on the backs of these Pokemon to traverse the mountain paths." said the Rotom Phone.
"You should have Charcadet battle Skiddo, Butters. Skiddo's a grass type, so Charcadet should have the advantage since fire type attacks are strong against them." said Cartman.
"Okay, Eric." said Butters.
"You still remember how to let Pokemon out of their pokeballs?" asked Cartman. Butters takes Charcadet's pokeball out of his pocket and throws it, releasing it. "Good. Now fire and poison type attacks are strong against grass types, so Ember, Clear Smog, and Fire Spin should be strong against it."
"Okay, but what's this Leer move like?" asked Butters. Charcadet suddenly glares at Skiddo and his eyes glowed red. Skiddo shudders. "What was that?"
"Charcadet just used Leer." replied Cartman.
"But how come Skiddo doesn't look hurt?" asked Butters.
"Not all moves Pokemon use hurt other Pokemon." said Cartman. "Some moves increases a Pokemon's strength, defense, and speed while some weakens them and makes them slower. Leer weakens a Pokemon's defense, which is a good thing since with Skiddo's defense weakened, Charcadet's fire attacks and Clear Smog will cause more damage than it originally would."
"Wow." said Butters. Skiddo charges at Charcadet and rams into him. "Okay, Charcadet, use Ember." said Butters. Charcadet shoots small balls of fire out of the holes in his helmet, and they hit Skiddo, causing super effective damage. Skiddo was suddenly covered in fire.
"Looks like Skiddo has the burn status condition." said Cartman.
"What's that?" asked Butters.
"It's a status condition that not only causes a Pokemon to lose a bit of stamina, but also weaken its attack strength." said Cartman. "You're doing really good so far, Butters."
"Thanks, Eric." said Butters. A long vine comes out of the leaves around Skiddo's neck, and it strikes Charcadet, but not hurting him much.
"I think that was Vine Whip." said Cartman. "Don't worry, grass type attacks aren't strong against fire Pokemon"
"Oh, good. Charcadet, use Fire Spin." said Butters. Charcadet unleashes streams of fire out of his helmet holes, and they encircle Skiddo, causing super effective damage to it. Skiddo suddenly flinches in pain from its burn, and it struggles to stay standing.
"Butters. I think it's weak enough for you to capture." said Cartman. Butters takes an empty pokeball out of his pocket, enlarges it and throws it at Skiddo. It gets sucked into the pokeball and it wiggles around, and it clicks, indicating Skiddo's capture. "Awesome work, Butters. You caught Skiddo."
"Wow." said Butters. He picks up Skiddo's pokeball. "I'll take you to the Pokemon Center as soon as I can." Cartman takes out his Rotom Phone to look up Butter's Skiddo.
"Okay, your Skiddo is a girl, she knows Tackle, Growth, Vine Whip, Tail Whip, and Leech Seed. She has the Sap Sipper ability, which not only prevents her from being harmed by grass type attacks, but when she's hit by one, her strength increases."
"Thanks, Eric." said Butters. Cartman and Butters trained their Pokemon by battling wild ones. Cartman insisted Butters that he had Charcadet battle Shroomishes and other Skiddos since Charcadet had an advantage over them and had his Skiddo battle Naclies. Thanks to the training, Charcadet learned Will-O-Wisp, and Skiddo learned Razor Leaf and Worry Seed. After Cartman explained to Butters what the new attacks did, he spent time training his Magikarp by sending him out first against Shroomishes and Skiddos before returning him and sending out Fuecoco and having him battle instead. Magikarp still gained experience and soon, Magikarp learned Tackle, so now he had an attack that was acutally useful. At another part of the area, Kyle encountered a bulky, yellow Pokemon. Kyle takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Makuhita, the Guts Pokemon. It grows stronger by enduring harsh training. It is a gutsy Pokemon that can withstand any attack." said the Rotom Phone.
"Okay, Fletchling, come out." said Kyle, throwing Fletchling's pokeball and releases her. Makuhita claps its hands together, releasing a shockwave that hits Fletchling, making her flinch. "I think that was Fake Out. Well, I won't let that stop me. Fletchling, use Peck." Fletchling flies at Makuhita and pecks it with her beak, causing super effective damage due to flying type attacks being strong against fighting type Pokemon. "Now use Quick Attack." Fletchling flies at Makuhita with incredible speed and rams into Makuhita, knocking him back. Makuhita suddenly becomes surrounded by a blue aura. "I don't know what that move was, but I have a feeling that I need to take this Makuhita down now. Fletchling, use Ember." Fletchling unleashes small balls of fire out of her beak and they hit Makuhita, knocking it to the ground. It struggles to get up. Kyle takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Makuhita. It gets sucked into the pokeball and it wiggles around until it clicks. Kyle picks up the pokeball. "Sweet. Makuhita is mine. Kyle's Rotom Phone chimes. He takes it out and looks at it and learned that because of the battle, Fletchling learned Flail. He also learned his Makuhita was male, he knows Tackle, Focus Energy, Sand Attack, Arm Thrust, and Fake Out. He also had the Guts Ability. Kyle trained his Sprigatito by having him battle Shinxes and Naclies and soon, Sprigatito learned Magical Leaf. At another part of the area, Stan was focusing on having his Quaxly, mainly having him battling Naclies and Growlithes that were in the area. Soon he learned Aqua Jet. Kenny was mainly focusing on his Wooper by having him battle Shinxes, Skiddos, and all sorts of other Pokemon he had an advantage against. Wooper soon learned Toxic Spikes and Slam. The boys trained their other Pokemon as well and they all got stronger, too. The boys soon met at a nearby Pokemon Center to get their Pokemon treated and talk about their progress while having lunch.
"So, how's Butters' doing, Cartman?" asked Stan.
"He's doing awesome. His Charcadet and Skiddo are getting much stronger." said Cartman.
"Yeah." said Butters.
"Sounds like Butters is already getting the hang of being a trainer." said Kenny.
"Yeah." said Kyle. Soon their Pokemon were healed, and the boys collected them.
"So, what now?" asked Stan. Before anyone could answer, they heard a loud rumbling coming from nearby.
"What was that?!" asked Kyle.
"I don't know. Let's check it out, but be careful." said Stan. The boys went to the area where they thought the noise came from and soon came across a bunch of reddish brown, crablike Pokemon. Stan pulls out his Rotom Phone and points it at them.
"Klawf, the Ambush Pokemon. Klawf hangs upside down from cliffs, waiting for prey. But Klawf can't remain in this position for long because its blood rushes to its head." said the Rotom Phone. As the boys observe the Klawfs, Cartman notices something on a rock wall behind them.
"Dudes. Look at that." said Cartman. The boys look and see what looked like a VERY BIG KLAWF!
"Whoa! That thing is huge!" said Kyle. Stan thinks of something and pulls out his Rotom Phone. He pulls up the map and sees something.
"Guys. Arven has a spot on our maps which show the location of Titan Pokemon, right?" asked Stan.
"Yeah. They're supposed to be guarding the Herba Mystica." said Kyle.
"Well, the map says there's one in this area." said Stan. The boys look at each other, then at the large Klawf.
"You think that Klawf could be a Titan Pokemon?" asked Kenny.
"Well, it definitely looks large. Let's ask Arven." said Stan. He calls Arven on his Rotom Phone's video chat and Arven answers.
"Hi, Stan. What's up?" asked Arven. Stan answers by pointing the Rotom Phone towards the giant Klawf. "You found a Titan Pokemon?! Where are you?!"
"I'll send you our coordinates." said Stan. He sends their location to Arven.
"I'll be there as soon as I can. Be careful, Titan Pokemon are very strong." said Arven. He hangs up, leaving the boys to figure out their next move.
"I think it's going to take more than Arven and us to beat that thing." said Stan.
"We need help." said Kenny.
"I'll call Lincoln and see if he's available to help." said Kyle.
"Good idea." said Stan. Butters looks with confusion.
"Herba Mystica? Titan Pokemon? What the heck are those?" asked Butters. Kyle called Lincoln on his Rotom Phone and he answers.
"Hey, Kyle. What's up?" answered Lincoln.
"Dude. Remember those Titan Pokemon Arven told us about?" asked Kyle.
"The ones guarding those herbs Arven wants?" replied Lincoln.
"Yeah, those. We think we see one of them and I think we could use some extra help taking it out." said Kyle.
"Sure. Where are you?" asked Lincoln.
"I'll send you our coordinates. See you soon." said Kyle and he ends the call. "He'll be here as soon as he can."
"Good." said Stan. He looks back at the huge Klawf. "Because I think we need all the help we can get. We'll train our Pokemon until Lincoln and Arven get here."
"Good thinking." said Kenny.
