To Cortondo or Bust
After breakfast, Stan and Butters were waiting near the western gate for Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny to arrive so they can travel to Cortondo to compete for their first gym badges. Butters was wearing one of the academy uniforms he got yesterday. Stan and Butters have stopped by the PokeMart and each bought five pokeballs with the money they made selling valuables they found after Tera Raid battles. A minute later, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny arrived.
"Hey, guys." said Stan.
"Hey, dude." replied Kyle. "Hope we're not too late. We stopped by the PokeMart for supplies."
"Don't worry about it." said Stan. Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny then notice that Butters was wearing a Naranja Academy uniform.
"Why'd you let Butters have one of your uniforms, Stan?" asked Kyle.
"It's not mine. Mom got him enrolled at the Naranja Academy as a student." explained Stan.
"Whoa. That's cool." said Kyle.
"Yeah." said Cartman and Kenny.
"Thanks, fellas." said Butters. Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny each bring out their Koraidons. They all get on them with Butters riding with Cartman. The boys exited Mesagoza through the west gate and soon found themselves in South Province Area Two. They boys hop off the Koraidons, looked around and saw the area was mostly dry with some high terrain.
"So how do we get to Cortonda?" asked Kenny. Kyle takes out his Rotom Phone and looks at the map app.
"Well, if we keep taking this path that we're on, we should reach a Pokemon Center, and after that, if we keep taking this path, we should reach Cortondo.
"Sweet. Let's go." said Cartman. He, Stan, Kyle, and Kenny hop on their Koraidons. Butters was about to climb on Cartman's Koraidon when he sees a light green, olive like Pokemon.
"Hey, a Pokemon." said Butters. He takes out his new Rotom Phone and points it at the new Pokemon.
"Smoliv, the Olive Pokemon. It protects itself from enemies by emitting oil from the fruit on its head. The oil is bitter and astringent enough to make someone flinch." said the Rotom Phone. Butters pulls out Charcadet's pokeball.
"Let's go, Charcadet." said Butters, throwing Charcadet's pokeball and releasing him. Smoliv sees Charcadet and glares at him. "Charcadet, Clear Smog." Charcadet releases streams of white smog out of his helmet holes and they hit Smoliv, causing super effective damage due to poison type attacks being strong against grass type Pokemon. Smoliv falls to the ground and struggles to get up. Butters takes an empty pokeball out of his backpack and throws it at the Smoliv. It gets sucked into the pokeball and it wiggles around until it clicks. "Oh boy, I caught a Smoliv."
"Good work, Butters." said Cartman. Smoliv's pokeball transported to storage due to Butters already having six Pokemon on him.
"Hey, Eric. Is it possible to get Pokemon out of storage?" asked Butters.
"Sure. Let me see your Rotom Phone." said Cartman. Butters hands his Rotom Phone to Cartman and he shows him how to access Pokemon Storage and how to swap Pokemon.
"Thanks, Eric." said Butters.
"No problem." said Cartman.
"That reminds me. I want to get my Nymble and Shellder from storage." said Kenny. He pulls out his Rotom Phone and uses it to swap his Azurill and Igglybuff for his Nymble and Shellder. He also looks up the information on the two Pokemon he got. "Okay, my Nymble is a boy, he knows Tackle, Leer, Struggle Bug, Astonish, and Double Kick. And he has the Swarm ability which increases the power of his bug attacks when he's down to a third of his stamina. My Shellder is a girl, she knows Tackle, Water Gun Withdraw, Ice Shard, and Leer. And she has the Shell Armor ability which makes it so she can't get hit with critical hits." The boys spent a little bit of the day training their Pokemon. Kyle focused on training Floragato, Fletchling, and Flittle. With time, Flittle learned Quick Attack. As Kyle trained Fletchling, she began to glow.
"Dudes. My Fletchling's evolving." said Kyle. The others ran over to where Kyle is to watch the evolution. When the glowing stopped, Fletchling was now bigger than before, her beak was longer, she had yellow markings behind her eyes, and a pointed crest on the back of her head. Kyle takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at his newly evolved Fletchling.
"Fletchinder, the Ember Pokemon and the evolved form of Fletchling. Fletchinder scatters embers in tall grass where bug Pokemon might be hiding and then catches them as they come leaping out." said the Rotom Phone.
"This is so cool, and according to my Rotom Phone, Fletchinder learned Flame Charge." said Kyle.
"What does that move do?" asked Butters.
"It's a fire type attack that increases the speed of the Pokemon that uses it." said Kyle. "And Fletchinder is now part flying and part fire, and she no longer has the Big Pecks ability, she now has the Flame Body ability which has a chance of burning a Pokemon that attacks her physically."
"Boy, that sounds neato." said Butters. Kyle walks over to Fletchinder and pets her head.
"Congratulations, Fletchinder." said Kyle. The boys continued to look around and took note of the crystal pillar clusters where Tera Raid dens were.
"Hey, guys. Let's check out those Tera Raid dens. Maybe we'll find some cool Pokemon." said Stan.
"Yeah. And also get some stuff to sell for travel money." said Cartman. The boys head for the nearest crystal cluster and go inside. When they enter the crystal cavern, they see a dark brown, catlike Pokemon with a red orange tuft of hair on its head. Stan pulls out his Rotom Phone and points it at the new Pokemon.
"Litleo, the Lion Cub Pokemon. When Litleo are young, female Pyroar will teach them how to hunt. Once the Litleo mature, they will leave the pride and set out on their own." said the Rotom Phone.
"Just like how me and my friends are setting out on our own on this journey." said Stan. When they look closer at Litleo, they see that it had what looked like a stone temple on its head. "I'm guessing that its Tera Form is rock. But that's not gonna stop me from catching this little guy."
"We're right behind you, Stan." said Kyle as he and the others each pull out a pokeball. Stan lets out Quaxwell, Kyle lets out Floragato, Cartman lets out Gyarados, Kenny lets out Shellder, and Butters lets out Skiddo. All of a sudden, Litleo launches a spray of small bits of fire at Kyle's Floragato, hitting him and doing super effective damage.
"Watch it Kyle and Butters. This Litleo knows Ember." said Stan.
"Are you okay, Floragato?" asked Kyle. Floragato looks back at Kyle and gives him a thumbs up. "Good. Now use Magical Leaf." Floragato launches a Magical Leaf attack which hits and does super effective damage to Litleo.
"Good thing that Litleo isn't in its regular form which is part fire; otherwise, Magical Leaf wouldn't have been able to do a lot of damage." said Stan. "Now, Quaxwell. Use Aqua Jet." Quaxwell surrounds himself with water and flies quickly at Litleo, slamming him and doing super effective damage.
"Gyarados. Hit it with Brine." said Cartman.
"Wooper, use Mud Shot." said Kenny.
"Skiddo, use Razor Leaf." said Butters. Their Pokemon hit the Litleo for super effective damage. The Litleo's crystallized skin shatters and it reverts to its normal state. Stan takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Litleo, hitting it and sucking it in. The pokeball wiggles a bit and clicks, indicating a successful capture. Stan runs over to the pokeball and he picks it up.
"Yes! I caught Litleo!" said Stan. The boys soon find themselves outside the crystal cavern which vanishes. Litleo's pokeball disappears to storage. Stan takes out his Rotom Phone and uses it to swap the Lechonk he has for Litleo. Stan also takes the opportunity to look up his new Litleo's information. "Okay. My new Litleo is a girl, she knows Tackle, Leer, Ember, Work Up, and Headbutt; she also has the Rivalry ability which increases her attack power and special attack power by 25% if she's battling a Pokemon that is also a girl, but it does the opposite if the Pokemon she's battling is a guy." Stan also picks up the berries and two pearls that the crystal pillars left behind.
"Let's keep going you guys." said Kenny. The boys continued to look around for more Pokemon to catch. The boys also took the time to train their Pokemon. During the training, Litleo learns Noble Roar, and Kenny's Nymble learned Screech. They also did more Tera Raid battles and caught more Pokemon and found more items to sell. Stan caught an Applin, Kyle caught a Rellor, Cartman caught a Snom, Kenny caught a Wattrel, and Butters caught a Finneon. Butters decided to swap his Klawf for his new Finneon. As they continued to explore the area, Stan sees a brown doglike Pokemon walking in the tall grass. Wondering what it was, Stan pulls out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Maschiff, the Rascal Pokemon. It always scowls in an attempt to make opponents take it seriously, but even crying children will burst into laughter when they see Maschiff's face." said the Rotom Phone. Stan looks at Maschiff. Seeing it reminds him of his old dog, Sparky. (a/n: Whatever happened to that dog?) Stan looks at his Litleo.
"You up for a battle, girl?" asked Stan. Litleo goes into a pouncing position and nods in response. Maschiff, seeing Litleo, growls, and crouches. It becomes surrounded by a black aura and it glares at Litleo, making her shudder.
"I think that was Intimidate, dude." said Kyle.
"Crap, so now Litleo's attack is weakened. Okay, Litleo, Heatbutt." Litleo leaps at Maschiff and rams it with her head, knocking it back, but to Stan's surprise, it didn't seem to do much damage to it. "What the hell? Why didn't it look that it hurt it that much?"
"That Maschiff must be a girl, dude." said Kyle. "So, because of Litleo's Rivalry ability, her attacks won't hurt Maschiff that much."
"Arceus damn it." said Stan. Maschiff opens her mouth and forms a ball of black energy in it. Maschiff launches it at Litleo and hits her, knocking her back. "Don't take that from her, Litleo, use Leer." Litleo glares at Maschiff and her eyes glow, making Maschiff shudder and weakening her defense.
"Good thinking, dude. Weakening Maschiff's defense may help." said Kyle. Maschiff runs at Litleo and rams into her, knocking her back.
"Headbutt." said Stan. Litleo runs at Maschiff and rams her in the head with hers. The attack causes Maschiff to flinch. "Now use Ember." Litleo opens her mouth and unleashes small bits of fire onto Maschiff, hurting her. Glowing red spots appeared on Maschiff and she flinches.
"Looks like that Maschiff's burned. Now her attack will weaken, and she'll start losing stamina." said Kyle. Maschiff's claws glowed red, and she becomes surrounded by an orange aura.
"I don't know what that is, but I thnk we should take down this Maschiff, Litleo." said Stan. Litleo nods. "Now use Headbutt again." Litleo pounces at Maschiff and rams her headfirst into Maschiff's face, making her flinch. Stan takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Maschiff. She gets sucked into the pokeball and after it wiggles around for a couple seconds, it stops and clicks. Stan picks up Maschiff's pokeball. "Kick ass. Maschiff is mine." The pokeball glows white and vanishes. Stan takes out his Rotom Phone and uses it to learn more about his new Maschiff. "Okay. I already know Maschiff is a girl, she knows Tackle, Leer, Scary Face, Lick, Snarl, and Hone Claws, and like Kyle pointed out, she has the Intimidate ability. Stan then uses his Rotom Phone to transfer his Buizel to storage and put Maschiff in her place. Stan looks at Maschiff's pokeball in his hand. "You're a tough Pokemon, so I'll keep you around." He then looks at Litleo. "Good job, girl." Litleo smiles in response. The boys spent the rest of the day training their Pokemon. Soon the sun started to go down and the boys started to make camp for the night. The boys let all their Pokemon out to play while they made dinner. As they ate, Stan looked at his new Maschiff sitting by herself. Seeing an opportunity to bond with her, Stan grabs his ham sandwich and walks over to her. Seeing Stan approaching her, Maschiff gets into a defensive stance and growls. "Hey, Maschiff." Stan breaks his sandwich in half and holds one half close to Maschiff's mouth. Maschiff sniffs it for a bit before eating it out of Stan's hand, making him smile. "Sorry Litleo and I were tough with you, but you seem like a Pokemon I really want on my team. I hope we can put our battle behind us because I really want us to be friends." Stan holds out his hand to Maschiff. She sniffs it for a little bit before she licks it and rubs her head against it. "Good girl." That night, the boys went into their tent to go to sleep. As Stan goes into his sleeping bag, he gets an idea. He lets Litleo and Maschiff out of their pokeballs. "You two want to sleep out here with me tonight. It will give us a chance to bond." Litleo and Maschiff climb on top of Stan and lie down.
"That's swell of you, Stan." said Butters.
"I'll bet Lincoln does the same thing sometimes." said Stan.
"Yeah." replied Kyle. "Night, dudes." The boys and the Pokemon soon fell asleep. The next morning after the boys and their Pokemon had breakfast and put their tent and picnic supplies away, the boys continued down the path until they finally reached their destination: Cortondo City.
