Cortondo Gym Battles
The boys are currently at the Pokemon Center waiting for their Pokemon to be healed. The boys also took the time to sell the valuable items they found in the Tera Raid battles they fought in.
"Okay. So which of us will take on the gym leader first?" asked Kyle.
"I'll go first." said Stan.
"Okay. I'll go after you, Stan." said Kyle.
"I'll go after you, Kyle." said Kenny.
"I guess I'll go after you, Kenny." said Cartman.
"I'll go last then." said Butters.
"So, what now?" asked Kyle.
"After we get our Pokemon, we'll go find the gym." said Stan.
"What do you think this gym leader is like?" asked Kenny.
"I guess we'll have to wait and find out." said Stan.
"So what should we do while we wait for our Pokemon to heal?" asked Kyle.
"Let's check out the city." said Stan. The boys explore Cortondo and took notice of a big tree in front of a building with some stairs connecting to terraces that were built into it, leading up to a big platform on top.
"What do you think is on that platform?" asked Butters.
"I don't know. Let's go see." said Stan. As they got close to the tree, Cartman sniffs the air and smells something delicious.
"Oh my Arceus. What smells so good?" asked Cartman. The other boys stop and sniff the air, also noticing the delicious aroma.
"Wow. What is that?" asked Kyle. The boys look around and see the source of the scent. It was coming from the building in front of the tree. Upon closer look, they see the building was in fact a bakery. In the display case was an assortment of the tastiest-looking cupcakes they have ever seen.
"Dudes. I really want to have some of these cupcakes." said Cartman.
"I hear ya, dude." said Kyle with a thin layer of drool coming out of his mouth.
"Hello, boys. What can I do for you?" a woman's voice says from behind them. They turn to see a woman with teal-colored hair and brown eyes. She wore a chef's outfit with a light gray blouse and matching hat and gloves. She also wore a long brown skirt with matching ascot and an apron with a spider web design on it.
"Hi, ma'am. We would really like to buy some cupcakes. They look so delicious." said Kyle.
"Why thank you. I made them myself." said the woman, surprising the boys.
"So you're the chef who made them?" asked Kenny.
"That's right. I'm the head chef and owner of this bakery which I call the Patisserie Soapberry." said the woman. She looks at the boys' uniforms. "I take it you're here for a gym battle."
"Yeah." replied Stan. "How did you know?"
"Naranja Academy students come here all the time for gym battles." the woman replied.
"How did you know we were academy students?" asked Butters.
"Your uniforms." said the woman.
"Ahh. That obvious?" replied Kenny.
"Yes it its." said the woman. "In fact, just a day ago, an academy student was here and he defeated the gym leader here."
"Was this academy student a boy with white hair?" asked Stan.
"Yes. You know Lincoln?" asked the woman.
"He's a friend of ours." said Kyle.
"I see." replied the woman. "If you want to challenge the gym leader, you need to go to the Pokemon League building that's right behind you." The boys look and see a tall building with a pokeball insignia on it.
"Oh." said Kenny. "Thank you, ma'am."
"You're quite welcome." said the woman. "Maybe you can stop by my bakery after your gym battle."
"If it means we can get some of those cupcakes, then we'd be happy to." said Kyle. The woman smiles and walks away.
"Should we go back to the Pokemon Center and see if our Pokemon are healed?" asked Kyle.
"Totally." said Cartman. "The sooner we get our Pokemon, the sooner we can battle the gym leader, get our badges, and get some cupcakes afterwards."
"Oh, boy!" said Butters. The boys quickly run to the Pokemon Center to grab their Pokemon. Once they do, they all head back to the Pokemon League building and go inside. They then go to the receptionist's desk where a staff member was standing.
"Hello, gentlemen. Are you here for a gym battle?" asked the staff member.
"Yes, sir." said Stan.
"Very well. I need your names and trainer numbers so I can get you registered." said the staff member. The boys give him the information and the staff member puts it into his computer. "
"Cool. So where do we go for our gym battles?" asked Kyle.
"Before you can battle the gym leader, you'll each need to pass the Gym Test." said the staff member.
"Gym Test? What's that?" asked Kenny.
"The Gym Test is something trainers are required to do in order to challenge the gym leader." said the staff member.
"Oh. So what do we have to do?" asked Stan.
"Your test here is The Olive Roll." said the staff member. "Olive production is a big part of life here in Cortondo. We've held the Olive Harvest Festival each years for generations to usher in bumper crops. To pass our Gym Test, you'll need to roll an olive-shaped all the way to the goal. Your effort should help ensure we get a great olive harvest next year too. The staffer over at the olive-rolling field will explain the rules to you boys in further detail. The field is just to the north of town. Now get out there and have some fun." The boys leave the Pokemon League building and head to the north part of town where they see a fenced-in-area with a large wicker basket on one end of it. Near the entrance was a woman in a blue suit who they assume is the staff member they were told about. They walk up to her and she looks at the boys.
"Hi. Is this the olive-rolling field where we have to do our Gym Tests at?" asked Stan.
"Why yes it is." said the staff member.
"Well we're here for our Gym Tests."
"Very well. This Gym Test is all about stamina. You'll need to push with all you've got to get a large olive ball rolling and make it all the way to the end. Get the ball over various obstacles, then push it into the goal to clear the test." said the woman.
"That sounds easy." said Cartman.
"So are you boys ready to start the Gym Test?" asked the woman.
"You bet we are." said Butters.
"Great. Put in a wish for a good olive harvest, and roll, roll, roll away." said the woman. Each one of them started out on a platform near a ramp that had a giant olive-shaped ball on top of a small pedestal. They looked at the course and saw fences everywhere and small ramps. They each go up to the ball and push it off and discover that it was a lot lighter than it looked. Despite it being lighter, maneuvering it was really difficult. It wasn't easy, but each boy managed to get the ball through the course and into the wicker basket. After they each completed the test, confetti came out from each side of the wicker basket signifying that they passed the test.
"With those performances, I'm sure we can look forward to a great olive harvest next year." said the woman. "I'm happy to declare your Gym Tests officially cleared. Congratulations."
"All right!" said Stan as he and the others celebrated. Back at the Pokemon League building, the boys were in the lobby, reporting to the staff member.
"We all passed our Gym Tests." said Kyle.
"Yes. I just received word of it. You all have my congratulations." said the staff member.
"So where do we go for our gym battles?" asked Kenny. The staff member points past them.
"The battle platform is on top of the giant tree, behind the bakery, right across the road from here.
"So that's what that platform we saw before was." said Kenny.
"So you noticed it?" replied the staff member. "Anyway, that's where your gym battles are going to be. Good luck in your battles."
"Thanks, sir." said Kyle. The boys leave the building and go to the bakery, stopping for a few seconds to look at the cupcakes. They then go up the stairs until they reach the platform. To their surprise, they see that the woman who owned the bakery was there. She turns to look at them.
"Oh. So we meet again boys." said the woman.
"Hello, ma'am. What are you doing here?" asked Butters.
"Why I'm here to battle you." said the woman.
"Wait, what?" replied Stan.
"Oh. Did I forget to mention that in addition to being a baker; I'm also the Cortondo City gym leader?" asked the woman.
"Yes, ma'am." replied Kyle.
"Oh, and I also forgot to introduce myself. My name is Katy." said the woman now identified as Katy.
"Well I'm Stan Marsh." said Stan.
"I'm Kyle Broflovski." said Kyle.
"I'm Eric Cartman." said Cartman.
"I'm Kenny McCormick." said Kenny.
"I'm Leopold Stotch, but everyone calls me Butters." said Butters.
"Now that we've been properly introduced; who am I battling first?' asked Katy. Stan steps forward.
"Me." said Stan.
"Very well. Let's get started." said Katy. They both take positons on opposite sides of the field. A referee steps to the center of the battlefield.
"This will be a three-on-three battle between the gym leader, Ms. Katy, and the challenger, Stan Marsh. Both sides will battle until all three of a trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The last trainer to have any Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let the battle begin." said the referee. He then steps off the field. Katy pulls a pokeball out of her apron.
"Nymble, come out sweetie." said Katy as she throws her pokeball, releasing a dark gray, grasshopperlike Pokemon. Lincoln pulls out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Nymble, the Grasshopper Pokemon. It has its third set of legs folded up. When it's in a tough spot, this Pokemon jumps over 30 feet, using the strength of its legs." said the Rotom Phone. Stan reaches into his pocket and pulls out a pokeball.
"Litleo, I choose you." said Stan as he releases his Litleo.
"Nymble, use Double Kick." said Katy. Nymble leaps forward and lands two solid kicks to Litleo, doing super effective damage thanks to him being part normal type. Stan looked worried.
"Focus, dude. Litleo still has an advantage." said Kyle. Stan looks at Kyle and nods.
"Okay, Litleo. Use Ember." said Stan. Litleo launches bits of fire at Nymble which hit it and does super effective damage. Parts of Nymble suddenly caught fire. "Looks like Nymble is burned. Its attack power should be weaker and it'll take damage now and then."
"Hurry, Nymble. Use Double Kick again." said Katy. Nymble leaps towards Litleo and lands two more super effective attacks, but thanks to Nymble's burn, they don't do as much damage as before.
"Litleo, use Tackle." said Stan. Litleo charges forward and slams into Nymble, and knocks it out.
"Nymble is unable to battle, Litleo is the winner." said the referee.
"Yes! Way to go, Litleo!" said Stan. Litleo turns to look at Stan and nods. Katy returns Nymble to its pokeball.
"You rest up, sweetie." said Katy. She takes out another pokeball and throws it, releasing a Tarountula. Stan noticed Litleo looked a little sore, probably from all the kicks he took from Nymble.
"Hurry, Litleo. Use Noble Roar." said Stan. Litleo lets out a loud roar which scares Tarountula and lowers its attack power and special attack power.
"Tarountula, use Bug Bite." said Katy. Tarountula leaps at Litleo and bites down on him. It didn't do a lot thanks to fire types being resistant to bug type moves and Noble Roar weakening it. Litleo was struggling to stay on his feet. Stan felt he had to end the battle quickly.
"Litleo, use Headbutt." said Stan. Litleo charges at Tarountula and rams it headfirst. Tarountula flinches in response. "Okay, Litleo. Finish this with another Ember." Litleo releases another Ember attack which does enough super effective damage to Tarountula to knock it out.
"Tarountula is unable to battle. Litleo is the winner." said the referee.
"Way to go, Stan!" said Kyle.
"Just one more, dude." said Cartman. Katy returns Tarountula to its pokeball.
"You gave it your best effort, Tarountula. Rest easy." said Katy. She then puts Tarountula's pokeball away. Stan looks at Litleo with concern.
"Litleo. Do you want to stop battling?" said Stan. Litleo shakes his head, showing he doesn't want to stop. "You won't stop until you win or your body can't hold out any longer?" Litleo nods at this. "Okay. If you still want to keep going, I won't stop you." Katy puts Tarountula's pokeball away and pulls out her last one.
"Teddiursa, it's all up to you." said Katy as she releases a Pokemon that looks like a bear cub. Stan takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Teddiursa, the Little Bear Pokemon. This Pokemon discreetly follow Combee to find their hive. It scoop up big dollops of honey in its palms to eat." said the Rotom Phone.
"Awww. Teddiursa looks so adorable." said Butters.
"Thank you." said Katy.
"I thought you used only bug types. Teddiursa is a normal type." said Stan. Katy smiles as she pulls a Tera Orb out of her apron, surprising Stan and his friends. "You have a Tera Orb?!"
"Yes, and I know how to use it." said Katy. She throws her Tera Orb at Teddiursa and it becomes encased in crystal pillars. They soon shatter, revealing Teddiursa's fur was crystallized and it had insect antennae sticking out of its head. "Teddiursa's Tera Form is bug type. Sweetie, use Fury Cutter." Teddiursa runs at Litleo and slashes him, doing just enough damage to finally knock him out.
"Litleo is unable to battle. Teddiursa is the winner." said the referee. Stan returns Litleo to his pokeball.
"You were great, Litleo. I'll bring you to the Pokemon Center after this battle." said Stan. He puts Litleo's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Quaxwell, come out!" Stan throws the pokeball, releasing his Quaxwell. "Okay, Quaxwell. Let's do this for Litleo. Use Aqua Jet!" Quaxwell coats himself in water and flies into Teddiursa with enought force to knock it back.
"Teddiursa, use Fury Cutter again." said Katy. Teddiursa uses Fury Cutter on Quaxwell, doing more damage than before. "Fury Cutter's power increases each consectutive time that it's used."
"Then I better end this before Teddiursa can attack with it again." said Stan. "Quaxwell, use Wing Attack!" Quaxwell charges at Teddiursa and slashes it across its chest with his wing, doing super effective damage and knocking it out.
"Teddiursa is unable to battle. Quaxwell is the winner. The winner of the match is the challenger, Stan Marsh." said the referee.
"Awesome!" Stan cheered in triumph. His friends also cheered for Stan's victory.
"Sweet!" said Kyle.
"That was so cool!" said Cartman.
"Aww. Poor Teddiursa. But I'm glad that Stan won." said Butters. Katy returns Teddiursa to its pokeball.
"You were wonderful, Teddiursa." said Katy. "And you were wonderful as well, Stan."
"Thank you, Ms. Katy." said Stan. Katy reaches into her pocket and pulls out a badge that had a symbol of a bug on it.
"And as proof of your victory here, I present you with the Cortondo gym badge." said Katy. She gives Stan the badge.
"Thanks a lot, Katy." said Stan. Katy turns towards Kyle, Kenny, Cartman, and Butters.
"So which of you boys am I battling next?" asked Katy. Kyle stands up and raises his hand.
"Me." said Kyle.
"As soon as I get my Pokemon healed, we'll battle." said Katy.
"Yes, ma'am." said Kyle.
"I'm gonna get my Pokemon healed too." said Stan. He and Katy leave the platform to go to the Pokemon Center.
"Well at least we know some of what to expect from Katy in our battles." said Kenny.
"Yeah. That gives us a small edge." said Kyle.
"Since she uses bug types, we'll need fire, flying, or rock types against her Pokemon." said Kenny.
"Good call, dude." said Cartman as he takes out his pokeballs and starts picking what Pokemon he's gonna use. Kyle, Kenny, and Butters do the same. An hour later, Katy and Kyle were standing on oppoiste ends of the arena while a referee was standing in the middle of it.
"This is an official gym battle between Katy the gym leader and the challenger, Kyle Broflovski. Each side will use three Pokemon." said the referee. "Both sides will battle until all three of a trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The last trainer to have any Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let the battle begin." said the referee. He then steps off the field. Katy pulls a pokeball out of her apron.
"Nymble, come out sweetie." said Katy, throwing Nymble's pokeball and releasing it. Kyle pulls out a pokeball.
"Fletchinder, let's go." said Kyle, throwing Fletchinder's pokeball and releasing her. "Fletchinder, use Peck." Fletchinder flies at Nymble and pecks it, doing super effective damage due to flying type moves being strong against bug types.
"Nymble, use Assurance." said Katy. Nymble jumps at Fletchinder and rams her, knocking her back, but she remained in the air.
"Fletchinder, Flame Charge." said Kyle. Fletchinder becomes surrounded by fire and she flies at Nymble and rams it, doing super effective damage to it. A gust of wind emits from Fletchinder's body. "Cool. Flame Charge increases Fletchinder's speed." Nymble struggles to get back up.
"Nymble, Screech." said Katy. Nymble emits a loud screech from its antennaes and onto Fletchinder.
"Dude. Screech weakens a Pokemon's defense." said Kyle. "I better end this now. Fletchinder, Flame Charge." Fletchinder becomes surrounded by fire and she rams into Nymble, knocking it out.
"Nymble is unable to battle. Fletchinder wins." said the referee.
"Good job, Fletchinder." said Kyle. Fletchinder spreads her wings and cries out. Katy returns Nymble to its pokeball.
"You did good, Nymble." said Katy. She puts Nymble's pokeball away and pulls out another. "Tarountula, I need you." She throws Tarountula's pokeball and releases it.
"Fletchinder, Quick Attack." said Kyle. Fletchinder flies at Tarountula with incredible speed and rams it, knocking it back.
"Tarountula, Tackle." said Katy. Tarountula jumps at Fletchinder and rams her, knocking her back.
"Flame Charge, Fletchinder." said Kyle. Fletchinder becomes surrounded by fire and rams Tarountula, causing super effective damage and increases Fletchinder's speed. Tarountula struggles to remain standing.
"Assurance, Tarountula." said Katy. Tarountula rams into Fletchinder, knocking her back.
"Fletchinder, Peck." said Kyle. Fletchinder flies at Tarountula and pecks it, knocking it out.
"Tarountula is unable to battle. Fletchinder is the winner." said the referee.
"Great job, Fletchinder." said Kyle. Katy returns Tarountula to its pokeball.
"You were great, Tarountula." said Katy. She puts Tarountula's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Teddiursa, I need you." She throws Teddiursa's pokeball and releases it. Katy pulls out her Tera Orb and uses it to Terastilize Teddiursa.
"Fletchinder, Flame Charge." said Kyle. Fletchinder becomes surrounded by fire and rams Teddiursa, causing super effective damage.
"Teddiursa, Lick." said Katy. Teddiursa jumps at Fletchinder and licks her, damaging her. Fletchinder becomes surrounded by electricity and shudders.
"Crap. Lick can paralyze a Pokemon it's used on." said Kyle. "Fletchinder, try Flame Charge." Fletchinder tries to use Flame Charge, but paralysis kicks in, stopping Fletchinder from attacking.
"Teddiursa, Fury Swipes." said Katy. Teddiursa runs at Fletchinder and repeatedly swipes her with its claws. Fletchinder falls to the ground with swirly eyes.
"Fletchinder is unable to battle. Teddiursa wins." said Katy.
"You did it, Teddiursa." said Katy. Kyle returns Fletchinder to her pokeball.
"I'm proud of you, Fletchinder." said Kyle. He puts Fletchinder's pokeball away and pulls out another. "Floragato, come out." He throws Floragato's pokeball and releases him. "Quick Attack, Floragato." Floragato leaps at Teddiursa with incredible speed and rams it, knocking it back.
"Teddiursa, Fury Cutter." said Katy. Teddiursa's right paw glows green. It then runs at Floragato and swipes its paw at him, causing super effective damage due to bug type moves being strong against grass types. Floragato staggers back.
"Floragato, Bite." said Kyle. Floragato leaps at Teddiursa and bites it, damaging it and causing it to flinch. Teddiursa begins breathing heavily. "Now use Magical Leaf." Floragato unleashes glowing green leaves at Teddiursa, doing enough damage to knock it out.
"Teddiursa!" said Katy.
"Teddiursa is unable to battle. Floragato wins. The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Kyle." said the referee.
"You did it, dude." said Kyle.
"Gato!" said Floragato, raising his arms. Katy returns Teddiursa to its pokeball.
"You were wonderful, sweetie." said Katy. She puts Teddiursa's pokeball away and walks over to Kyle. "You were wonderful, too, Kyle."
"Thank you, Katy." said Kyle.
"And for your victory, I reward you with the Cortondo gym badge." said Katy. She gives Kyle the badge.
"Cool." said Kyle. Katy turns towards Kenny, Cartman, and Butters.
"So which of you three will I be battling next?" asked Katy.
"I will." replied Kenny.
"We'll have our battle when my Pokemon are healed." said Katy.
"I can wait, ma'am." said Kenny. Katy smiles and she and Kyle head for the Pokemon Center. An hour later, Katy and Kenny were standing on oppoiste ends of the arena while a referee was standing in the middle of it.

"Nymble, I need you." said Katy as she releases her Nymble. Kenny pulls out a pokeball from his pocket.
"Rookidee, let's do this." said Kenny as he releases Rookidee who flies in place, ready for battle.
"Nymble, use Screech." said Katy. Nymble uses Screech on Rookidee to lower her defense.
"Rookidee, use Leer." said Kenny. Rookidee stares harshly at Nymble, making it nervous and lowering its defense.
"Nymble, use Assurance." said Katy. Nymble jumps at Rookidee and thrusts its front legs into Rookidee's chest, doing damage.
"Rookidee, use Pluck." said Kenny. Rookidee flies at Nymble and jabs her beak into Nymble's side, doing super effective damage.
"Nymble, use Tackle." said Katy. Nymble jumps at Rookidee and slams into her.
"Rookidee, use Fury Attack." said Kenny. Rookidee flies at Nymble and delivers a barrage of strikes to it. Soon it became more than Nymble could handle and it passes out.
"Nymble is unable to battle. Rookidee is the winner." said the referee.
"Good work, Rookidee." said Kenny. Rookidee chirps in response. Katy returns Nymble to its pokeball.
"You take a good rest, Nymble." said Katy. She puts Nymble's pokeball back into her apron and pulls out another one. "Tarountula, come out, sweetie." Katy releases Tarountula from its pokeball. "Tarountula, use String Shot." Tarountula releases a spray of string out of its mouth and it wraps around Rookidee, reducing its speed.
"Quick, Rookidee. Use Pluck." said Kenny. Rookidee flies at Tarountula and jabs her beak into its face.
"Tarountula, use Tackle." said Katy. Tarountula jumps at Rookidee and slams into her.
"Rookidee, use Pluck again." said Kenny. Rookidee starts flying at Tarountula.
"Tarountula, use Bug Bite." said Katy. Tarountula jumps at Rookidee with its mouth open. Both Pokemon collide in mid-air and fall down to the ground, both unconscious.
"Both Rookidee and Tarountula are unable to battle. It's a double knockout." said the referee. Kenny and Katy both return their Pokemon to their pokeballs.
"You were wonderful, Tarountula." said Katy.
"You rocked, Rookidee." said Kenny. He and Katy put Tarountula and Rookidee's pokeballs away and they each pull out another one.
"Teddiursa, it's time to battle, sweetie." said Katy. She releases Teddiursa from her pokeball.
"Shellder, let's do this." said Kenny as he released his Shellder. Katy takes out her Tera Orb and uses it to Terastillize her Teddirusa.
"Teddiursa, use Scratch." said Katy. Teddiursa runs towards Shellder.
"Shellder, use Withdraw." said Kenny. Shellder closes her shell and strengthens her defense. Teddiursa hit Shellder with a Scratch attack, but it didn't do a lot because of Shellder's increased defense. "Now, Shellder. Use Ice Shard." Shellder opens her shell and releases a quick barrage of ice chunks that hit Teddiursa.
"Teddiursa, use Lick." said Katy. Teddiursa runs to Shellder and licks her face, making her cringe and causing paralysis.
"Uh oh. Shellder's paralyzed." said Kyle.
"Weak." said Cartman.
"It'll take more than that to stop us!" said Kenny. "Hurry and use Tackle." Shellder tries to use Tackle, but paralysis stops her from attacking.
"Teddiursa, use Fury Cutter." said Katy. Teddiursa runs at Shellder and hits her with its claws.
"Shellder, use Water Gun." said Kenny. Shellder fights through paralysis and releases a strong spray of water out of her mouth that hits Teddiursa.
"Teddirusa, keep using Fury Cutter." said Katy. Teddiursa hits Shellder again with a stronger Fury Cutter attack. Shellder struggles to move.
"Dude. Can Shellder keep fighting?" asked Kenny.
"I don't know." said Stan.
"Teddiursa, one more Fury Cutter." said Katy. Teddiursa runs at Shellder with her claw raised ready to strike.
"Shellder, use Tackle!" says Kenny. With every ounce of strength she could muster, she fights off paralysis and leaps right into Teddiursa's face and knocks it down. Teddiursa tried to get up, but it didn't have the strength. Its Tera Form breaks apart and it passes out.
"Teddiursa is unable to battle. Shellder is the winner. That means the winner of the gym battle is the challenger, Kenny." said the referee.
"All right!" said Kenny. He runs over to Shellder, picks her up, and gives her a hug. "You were awesome, Shellder." Shellder gives an eye smile in response. Katy returns Teddiursa to its pokeball.
"You did magnificent, Teddiursa." said Katy. She puts Teddirusa's pokeball away and walks over to Kenny. "You have defeated me, Kenny. As proof of your victory, I present you with this Cortondo gym badge." She hands Kenny a gym badge and turns to look at Cartman, and Butters. "So which one of you am I battling next?"
"Me, me, me, me, me, me, me!" said Cartman as he was waving his hand around.
"You're an energetic one." said Katy with a smile. "Very well. After I get my Pokemon treated, we shall have our battle."
"Kewl." said Cartman.
"I'm gonna get my Pokemon treated, also." said Kenny.
"Okay, dude. And congrats on getting your gym badge." said Kyle.
"Thanks. I'll be right back." said Kenny as he and Katy head to the Pokemon Center. Another hour later, Katy and Cartman were standing on opposite ends of the arena while a referee was standing in the middle of it.
"This is an official gym battle between Katy the gym leader and Eric Cartman the challenger." said the referee. "The match will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The last trainer to have any Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let the match begin."
"Nymble, I need you, sweetie." said Katy, throwing Nymble's pokeball and releasing it.
"Come out, Gyarados." said Cartman, throwing Gyarados' pokeball and releasing him. Gyarados becomes surrounded by a black aura and roars at Nymble. Nymble trembles and its attack power decreases. "Ha! Intimidate has activated."
"But will it be enough?" asked Katy. "Nymble, Screech." Nymble emits a loud screech from its antennaes and onto Gyarados. He slumps as his defense weakens.
"Gyarados, Ice Fang." said Cartman. Gyarados lunges at Nymble with ice covered fangs and bites it.
"Nymble, Struggle Bug." said Katy. Nymble becomes surrounded by a red aura and then emits it into a dome of energy which hits Gyarados.
"Gyarados, Twister." said Cartman. A ball of wind appears on the end of Gyarados' tail and he releases a tornado from it and it hits Nymble, knocking it back.
"Nymble, Assurance." said Katy. Nymble leaps at Gyarados and rams into him.
"Gyarados, Flail." said Cartman. Gyarados hits Nymble repeatedly with his tail, knocking it out.
"Nymble is unable to battle. Gyarados wins." said the referee.
"Yeah! You go, Gyarados." said Cartman. Gyarados roars in response. Katy returns Nymble to its pokeball.
"You were great, sweetie." said Katy. She puts Nymble's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "I need you, Tarountula." She throws Tarountula's pokeball and releases it. "Tarountula, String Shot." Tarountula shoots a white string from its abdomen and it wraps around Gyarados' body, decreasing his speed.
"Gyarados, Twister." said Cartman. Gyarados unleashes a tornado from his tail and it hits Tarountula, knocking it back.
"Tarountula, Bug Bite." said Katy. Tarountula leaps at Gyarados and bites onto him. But it doesn't do much damage due to Gyarados being part flying type.
"Gyarados, Bite." said Cartman. Gyarados lunges at Tarountula and bites it. Unfortunately, Bite doesn't cause Tarountula to flinch.
"Tarountla, Assurance." said Katy. Tarountula leaps at Gyarados and strikes him with all of his legs at once. Cartman noticed Tarountla struggling to stay standing.
"Gyarados, Brine." said Cartman. Gyarados unleashes a powerful stream of water from his mouth and it hits Tarountula, knocking it out.
"Tarountula is unable to battle. Gyarados is the winner." said the referee.
"You did it, Gyarados." said Cartman. Katy returns Tarountula to its pokeball.
"You did great, sweetie." said Katy. She puts Tarountula's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Teddiursa, I need you." She throws Teddiursa's pokeball and releases it. She then uses her Tera Orb to terastilize it. "Teddiursa, Lick." Teddiursa runs at Gyarados and licks his underbelly, hurting him and causing paralysis.
"Gyarados, Ice Fang." said Cartman. Gyarados tries to use Ice Fang, but paralysis kicks in, stopping his attack.
"Teddiursa, Covet." said Katy. Teddiursa runs at Gyarados and hits him across the face with its paw, knocking it back.
"Gyarados, Ice Fang." said Cartman. Gyarados was able to fight through his paralysis and bites Teddiursa. Teddiursa struggles to stay on its feet.
"Teddiursa, Payback." said Katy. Teddiursa unleashes streams of black energy and they hit Gyarados. Gyarados begins to breath, heavily.
"Gyarados, you want to rest?" asked Cartman. Gyarados shakes his head. "All right then, use Brine." Gyarados unleashes a powerful stream of water out of his mouth and it hits Teddiursa, shattering its Tera Form and knocking it out.
"Teddiursa!" said Katy.
"Teddiursa is unable to battle. Gyarados wins. The winner of this gym battle is Eric Cartman." said the referee.
"Yes!" said Cartman. Katy returns Teddiursa to its pokeball.
"You were wonderful, sweetie." said Katy. She walks over to Cartman. "You have won, Eric, and as proof of your victory, I present you with the Cortondo gym badge." She gives Cartman the badge.
"Sweet." said Cartman. Katy then turns to look at Butters.
"I believe that you're next, young man." said Katy.
"Yes, ma'am." said Butters.
"I'll be right back for our battle after I get my Pokemon treated." said Katy.
"Yeah, I'm gonna get my Pokemon treated also, you guys." said Cartman. He and Katy leave to go to the Pokemon Center. Butters looks at Stan, Kyle, and Kenny.
"Guys. What kinds of Pokemon handle bug type moves?" asked Butters.
"Let's see. I think fire, flying, fighting, steel, and fairy types can resist bug type moves easily enough." said Stan.
"Oh. Since my Tinkatink is both steel and fairy types, can she resist bug type moves a lot better?" asked Butters.
"Yeah. Since she's a combination of two types of Pokemon that can resist bug type moves, she can easily handle them." said Kyle.
"And she can also handle that Assurance move since fairy types can easily handle dark type moves like Assurance." said Kenny.
"Okay. I'll start out with Tinkatink, and then use Charcadet if I need to." said Butters.
"Great call, dude. You're really starting to get the hang of training your Pokemon." said Kyle.
"Thanks, fellas." said Butters. An hour later, Butters and Katy were looking at each other with pokeballs in their hands.
"Are you ready, Butters?" asked Katy.
"Yes, ma'am." said Butters with a look of determination on his face. Katy smiles in response. A referee steps out onto the field.
"This is an official gym battle between Katy the gym leader and the challenger, Leopold Stotch." said the referee. "The match will end when one trainer's Pokemon are unable to battle. The last trainer to have any Pokemon remaining will be the winner. Let the match begin."
"Nymble, come out, sweetie." said Katy as she throws Nymble's pokeball and releases it.
"Tinkatink, let's go." said Butters as he throws Tinkatink's pokeball and releases her. "Okay. Use Baby-Doll Eyes." Tinkatink's eyes widen and shimmer, making Nymble look at Tinkatink with adoration and lowering its attack power.
"Nymble, use Double Kick." said Katy. Nymble jumps at Tinkatink and delivers two kicks to her. But they don't do as much damage as they would've thanks to Baby-Doll Eyes weakening it.
"Tinkatink, use Metal Claw." said Butters. Tinkatink's right hand turns to metal and she strikes Nymble. A surge of energy rises up from Tinkatink all of a sudden. "Hey. What's wrong with Tinkatink, fellas?"
"No, that's a good thing, Butters." said Kyle. "Metal Claw has a chance of increasing the attack power of the Pokemon that used it. So Tinkatink just became a bit stronger."
"Oh boy!" said Butters.
"Hurry, Nymble. Use Screech." said Katy. Nymble releases a high-pitched shriek which lowers Tinkatink defense.
"Tinkatink, use Covet." said Butters. Tinkatink approaches Nymble and strikes it with her hammer when she got close enough. Nymble is sent flying back and is knocked out.
"Nymble is unable to battle. Tinkatink is the winner." said the referee.
"Whoopee!" said Butters. Tinkatink jumps for joy. Katy returns Nymble to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Nymble." said Katy. She puts Nymble's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Tarountula, I need your help, sweetie." She throws Tarountula's pokeball and releases it.
"Tinkatink, use Fairy Wind." said Butters. Tinkatink summons up a pink wind and it hits Tarountula.
"Tarountula, use Bug Bite." said Katy. Tarountula jumps at Tinkatink and bites her, but doesn't really do a whole lot of damage due to both fairy and steel types being resistant to bug type moves.
"Tinkatink, use Metal Claw again!" said Butters. Tinkatink hits Tarountula with a Metal Claw, doing damage, and also increasing Tinkatink's attack power even more.
"Wow. Two power increases from Metal Claw in a row. What are the odds?" said Stan.
"I don't know. But at least Tinkatink's stronger now." said Cartman.
"Yeah, dude." said Kenny.
"Hurry, Tarountula. Use Assurance." said Katy. Tarountula runs at Tinkatink and thrusts its front legs into her, not doing a lot of damage thanks to dark type moves not being very effective against fairy types.
"Tinkatink, use Draining Kiss." said Butters. Tinkatink walks to Tarountula and kisses it, draining Tarountula of its remaining stamina and knocking it out. The small wounds on Tinkatink suddenly started to heal.
"Hey. Tinkatink's boo-boos are going away, fellas." said Butters.
"That's because Draining Kiss not only drains the target Pokemon of its stamina, Tinkatink uses it to heal herself." said Stan.
"Oh, boy. That can come in handy." said Butters. The referee looks at Tarountula and sees it unconscious.
"Tarountula is unable to battle. Tinkatink is the winner." said the referee.
"Oh boy. Tinkatink is doing awesome, fellas." said Butters.
"Yeah. Keep it up, Butters." said Kyle. Katy returns Tarountula to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Tarountula. You rest up." said Katy. She puts Tarountula's pokeball away and pulls out her last one. "Teddiursa, it's all up to you, sweetie." She throws Teddiursa's pokeball and releases her. She then pulls out her Tera Orb and uses it to Terastillize Teddiursa.
"Hurry, Tinkatink. Use Baby-Doll Eyes." said Butters. Tinkatink uses Baby-Doll Eyes on Teddiursa, weakening its attack power.
"Teddiursa, use Lick." said Katy. Teddiursa runs up to Tinkatink and licks her. Fortunately, it didn't cause paralysis.
"Tinkatink, use Draining Kiss." said Butters. Tinkatink quickly uses Draining Kiss on Teddiursa and drains it of some stamina and healing herself in the process.
"Teddiursa, use Payback." said Katy. Teddiursa releases dark streams of energy at Tinkatink which hit her, but don't do a lot of damage.
"Tinkatink, use Metal Claw one more time!" said Butters with determination. Tinkatink rushes at Teddirusa and hits it with one more Metal Claw. Teddiursa's Tera Form shatters and it passes out.
"Teddiursa is unable to battle. Tinkatink is the winner. That means the winner of the gym battle is the challenger, Leopold Stotch." said the referee.
"We did it, Tinkatink!" said Butters. He runs up to Tinkatink and hugs her. Tinkatink hugs him back.
"That was awesome!" said Stan.
"He beat all of Katy's Pokemon with just one of his!" said Kyle.
"Butters definitely has potential as a trainer." said Kenny.
"Yeah!" said Cartman. Butters runs up to them.
"Did you see that, fellas?!" asked Butters.
"Yeah, Butters!" said Stan with excitement.
"You were awesome, dude!" said Kyle.
"Thanks, fellas." said Butters. Katy returns Teddiursa to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Teddiursa. I'm proud of you." said Katy. She puts Teddiursa's pokeball away and walks up to Butters. "Your Tinkatink is strong. You should be proud of it."
"I am, ma'am." said Butters. Katy reaches into her apron pocket and pulls out a gym badge.
"As proof of your victory, here is your Cortondo gym badge." said Katy as she hands Butters a gym badge.
"Oh boy! Thank you!" said Butters. Katy then gestures towards a table.
"If you boys will have a seat, I have something else for you." said Katy.
"What is it?" asked Kyle.
"You'll see." said Katy. The boys sit down and Katy heads down the stairs. Ten minutes later, the boys were still waiting.
"What do you think she's getting?" asked Stan.
"I don't know, dude." said Kyle.
"I hope it's worth the wait." said Kenny. They suddenly hear footsteps coming up the stairs. They look and to their surprise, they see Katy with a huge platter of cupcakes.
"Oh yeah. Definitely worth the worth." said Cartman as he drooled at the sight of the cupcakes.
"Here you are, boys. On the house." said Katy.
"Sweet!" said Cartman. Each boy grabbed a cupcake and bit down on them. Their eyes widen with bliss.
"Oh my Arceus! These are awesome!" said Stan. The boys suddenly started devouring the cupcakes at a fast pace, surprising Katy.
"You must really like them." said Katy. Stan swallows the mouthful he had in him before replying.
"You bet, Ms. Katy!" said Stan. The boys continued eating while taking the time to take pictures with their Rotom Phones. Soon after they finished the cupcakes, they were at the Pokemon Center getting Butter's Tinkatink treated.
"Well, guys. We all got our first gym badges." said Kyle.
"Yeah. Just seven more to go." said Kenny.
"So what now?" asked Butters.
"I think we should take the rest of the day off. I'm kind of full from the cupcakes so I don't feel like doing much right now." said Stan.
"Yeah, me too." said Kyle. After Butters got Tinkatink back from the nurse, the boys just chilled out for a while. As they did, Stan was looking at his Rotom Phone.
"Hey, Stan. What are you looking at?" asked Kyle.
"I'm looking at Iono's latest video." replied Stan.
"Sweet!" said Kyle as he, Cartman, Kenny, and Butters gathered around Stan to watch the video.
"Fellas? Who's Iono?" asked Butters.
"She's this really popular livestreamer here in Paldea. She has tons of followers around the region. We watch her videos all the time when we're not too busy studying at the academy." said Kyle.
"Does Lincoln watch her videos, too?" asked Butters.
"Yeah. He's one of Iono's followers, just like us." said Cartman. Stan's eyes suddenly widen.
"Speaking of Lincoln, check this out." said Stan. The others look to see Lincoln and Iono squaring off in a Pokemon battle.
"Whoa! Lincoln's in one of Iono's videos?" asked Kyle.
"Why are they having a Pokemon battle?" asked Kenny. After the battle, they soon learned that Iono was the Levincia gym leader.
"I didn't know that Iono's a gym leader." said Kyle.
"Me, neither." said Kenny.
"But it's cool that Lincoln won, fellas." said Butters.
"Yeah! And now we know what to expect from Iono when we challenge her." said Stan. As they continued to watch, they were stunned when they see Iono kissing Lincoln on the cheek. "Dude!"
"He gets a kiss from Iono?!" asked Kenny.
"Lucky!" said Kyle.
"That proves his stupid family wrong about him being bad luck!" said Cartman. Soon the video ended, they looked up and see the sun was starting to set.
"Almost night, guys." said Stan.
"Let's start setting up the tent." said Kyle. The boys set their tent up and got into their sleeping bags. Ten minutes later, they were all fast asleep.
