Rubbing her eyes, she scanned the area without so much as any movement. This is not what she remembered. However, the last time was a short visit and a foggy one at that. There were no demons lurking about, no spirits as well. This at least she was able to sense. Gingerly she moved followed by a small groan of pain. She no longer felt Solas's healing abilities.
I need to wake up. Up on her feet now she slowly moved her way around the fade. The light touches of her footsteps stirred small wisps to appear, fluttering beside her and bouncing about. "Not now, please. Unless you know a way out." She exasperated. The small orbs began to bounce more excitingly. "Do you know a way out…? Or a way to wake me up?" The small ball of light took off eagerly, slowing down enough for Eva to catch up. She climbed through jagged rocks, followed the wisp through darkness and light. It must have been at least an hour before they made any progress.
"I think we're lost…," Eva gently said. But the once bouncing wisp was now hovering over one location. It wants me to go there. Slowly she climbed, using her stealth to avoid any more trouble than she needed. As she mounted a rock, her eyes squinted, her hand shot up to block the invasive light that befell her. The wisp was there but she could barely see it now. "Little wisp, are you there still? Is this where you want me to go?" Her voice was cautious as she asked the little orb. The light began to fade from her sight, but the once bouncing orb was now gone. She scanned the area, almost frantically. "Where did you go?" She whispered, loud enough for the small orb to hear her. "Little light?" She asked again and was met with no answer.
Sighing, she slowly moved from her position and tried to get a better scan of the area. The bright light was no longer around. The warmth was gone too. A grim expression formed on her face as the area's energy began to shift. A sudden shift in the ground caused Eva to topple over. "Holy Sh—!" When she hit the ground both hands covered her mouth instantly. She will never forget the scolding Jose and Cassandra drilled into her head. However, when things went wrong Bull always had the right things to say, and to be honest she liked his expressions for dangerous situations. Sitting up, she saw before her another Pride demon that was standing across the jagged ground. "No, no, no!" She hissed under her breath. "Wake up! Wake me up!" She muttered to herself, eyes closing as tears began to form.
In his cabin, Solas began to wipe a wet cloth along his face, making sure to get the blood, dirt, and grim from his skin. This is a disaster. He sighed and placed the cloth down. Eva was severely injured and with every pulse from the rift endangered her life. He could only do so much before her hand tore open. They had to make a discission quickly and act quickly. Cullen was in no shape to fight, that he was assure of. They haven't come to an agreement between the mages and templars yet. That is the first step when Eva awakens. A gentle knock sounded at his door and he mumbled for them to come in. Leliana. She stood at the door frame, watching him like a hawke. It was her job after all as a spymaster.
"How is the Commander?" Someone had to break the silence. "He'll be alright in time. He took a serious blow against the demon from the rift." Solas shook his head as his gaze drifted to the water bowl. "We all took a toll, Spymaster. The one I am most concerned over is Eva."
Leliana cocked her head to the side, still staring at him but with an anxious look on her face. Solas straightened himself up and looked over to her. "She's trapped in the fade. You know the danger of being in the fade." She nodded immediately. "How could I forget? The Hero of Ferelden rescued me and others from that nightmare." Solas nodded in response, "yes and that is exactly why I am concerned. She needs to wake up soon or she may find herself in a dangerous position and potentially be killed."
"SOLAS!" Cassandra busted through the door. "It's Eva! Come quickly!"
She tucked herself tightly against the rocks, feeling the ground shaking with each step the Pride Demon took.
"Oh my. I did not expect you to follow me into the fade, little elf." The demon chuckled darkly and loudly, sending a shiver up Eva's spine. "I can smell your fear, little one. Come out. We have unfinished business you and I." Another chuckle. Beads of sweat began to run down her forehead, closing her eyes shut and refusing to move. "If you won't come out then I shall force you."
There was a loud rumble as the ground shook. Eva peeked over the of the rocks to see the demon holding a giant boulder. Screaming, she was forced from her spot and into his sight. "Ah, there you are. You may be a mage, but you wield no power here. You lack the ability to control your own magic outside the fade." The demon threw the boulder in her direction. She just barely missed it. "I have friends that are helping outside the fade!" She shouted at him. He was terrifying looking to the point where she was shaking.
"That may be so, but until then you are stuck here with me." Another cynical laugh echoed in her ears. The demon sparked with lightning. "Unlike you, I have the ability to kill you here and now. The demons will be free and will destroy everything you love."
The lightning sparked more fiercely, and a bolt was shot Eva. She screamed but it wasn't enough. Her scream wasn't loud enough in the fade. "HELP ME! PLEASE SOMEONE HELP." The demon laughed at her pleas. "It's no use, knife ear." The demon was closing in on her, every inch of her muscles wouldn't respond.
It was then she heard the demon scream, as if it was being tortured. Eva covered her ears and huddled into a ball on the ground, crying just as the demon was. There was a bright light that grew brighter and brighter at the shrieks of the demon. "You will not hurt my daughter you foul beast!" She immediately recognized the voice the demon was drawing away from. "Mame!" Eva screamed out. The only visible part was the white hair that she inherited from her mother. Tears continued to stream down her cheeks as the demon grew further and further away from her. "I banish you from this side of the fade, Pride!" Her voice was loud, echoing in every corner. And just for a brief second, the woman, her mother looked back at Eva. Making direct eye contact, a small smile formed on the woman's lips. "We will meet again, my sweet girl." Eva stumbled onto her feet, trying to run to her but the more she ran the further away she became.
Solas was hovering over her, offering more healing energy to her injuries. Eva woke up screaming, sitting straight up from her bed and ignoring the injuries. She latched onto Solas and spoke so fast in elven that only Solas could understand. He took her in his arms and hugged her tightly as she cried into his arms. "I saw her, I saw mamae. She saved me from the demon!" Leliana and Cassandra stood back, watching everything unfold before them. They at least caught that her mother saved her. Solas spoke to her calmly in their language, and for ten minutes they went back and forth. Her sobs echoed in the cabin as she clutched tighter. "Sh-she said we would meet again," rubbing her nose she looked at Solas for answers. "Can I see her again Solas? Can I see my mamae again? Is she dead or trapped in the fade?!" Solas consoled her as she continued to weep.
"You need to rest, Eva. You have grave injuries that will take time. We will discuss this once you are on your feet again." She sniffled into his shirt while still clutching him tightly. "The mages." Eva said. She glanced over to Leliana and Cassandra. "We're going with the mages to close that hole in the sky." They exchanged looks as Eva went back to pressing her face into Solas's shirt. What they didn't see, however, was the small smirk forming on his lips. All according to plan.
