The idea of needing to be back in the water by nightfall and the mood color nails came from the movie "Aquamarine."
Hannah was sitting on the beachfront as Orca and Lucy had been conversing. She made sure she was sitting as close to the water as possible. She would have to revert to her mermaid form by sundown. Like Lucy, Hannah was all dolled up, but her nails were pale purple as she was anxious. Unbeknownst to most humans, mermaids' nail color changed to match their mood.
Lucy's nails had been bright yellow for happiness, and Orca's dark red due to her exasperation, if only at Lucy's pestering her to go to the surface. Hannah wished she had Coco come with her. Yet she knew the yellow mermaid was torn between having fun and being the most loyal friend to Sara.
Hannah always had the most difficulties with Sara's influence. Hannah felt the girl abused her authoritative voice to intimidate the other girls into obeying her, which isn't honorable for an Aqua Senshi mermaid. It wasn't even worth inviting Lina or Karen to come. They were too devoted to their domain to risk anything happening to them. As for Noel? She is far too shy, bad enough at interacting with other people, let alone be daring.
"Hannah?" A quiet but sunny voice spoke.
Hannah whirled around, only for her heart to soar! Standing behind her was a teenage girl with long, straight, blond hair, gold eyes, and her nails yellow too! Hannah's nails, which had been pale blue (sad) when thinking about Coco and red when thinking about Sara, turned yellow!
"Coco!" Hannah ran to hug her but stopped, noticing another familiar, young, short girl clinging to Coco's dress with yellow nails: Seira!
"I smuggled our little princess out from under Sara's nose." Coco giggled mischievously.
"You know, when Sara finds out, she's going to," Hannah began, but Coco had her response ready.
"IF she finds out. I convinced Lina, Karen, and even Noel to keep Sara away from the room Seira was sobbing in." Coco explained with a smirk.
"How?!" Hannah asked incredulously.
"Friends help each other out." Coco grinned mischievously.
"That's what she told the girls." Seira clarified to their confused friend.
As "dolled up" as Seria was, she had the least make-up and jewelry. She didn't require much, for she was a genuine beauty. After her walk, Hannah agreed to meet with Orca and Lucy to enjoy the "Booming Sky Flowers" together. Whistling caught their ears as the girls prepared to slip back into the water. Panicking, Hannah seized Seira and dived back into the water as Queen Oki had taught them this slow, two-pitch, repeated type of whistling is a spell!
Regrettably, Coco reverted to her mermaid form before reaching the water, and a large rowboat hit the shore! As Coco lay helplessly on the beach, a hideous, slightly inebriated male approached her and spoke softly, "It wasn't you I heard singing, but they say blondes have more fun. Shall we test that theory?"
"Water..." Coco moaned painfully. The unidentified bastard started to haul Coco onto his boat. Once there, he tied her up in a fishing net before dumping her back into the water and pulling her behind the boat to an undisclosed location!
