Act one
Beginning
chapter 2: The Yoke's on you
In green hill, a yellow stream goes over hedgehog's pass. The streak curves under the pass and hops over a small rock. It zooms from tree to tree and breaks through a bigger rock and swerves over the grass to break other rocks. A black figure spins with a yellow streak in its weight and files high in the air then lands, sending bits of rock flying. Shadow the hedgehog stands with a scowl on his face and turns then speeds off. He leaps at another rock then shatters it. He leaps again and destroys another rock. Black and red fur, white gloves and gold rings, he leaps at more big rocks and pummels them. Ahead of him, a green jewel floats.
"chaos Emerald."
Shadow approaches it and holds it.
"There you are."
he holds it up.
"chaos control!"then reappears
shadow vanishes then reappears on the pass. He skates on top of the grass and slides to a stop. He looks around and notices little birds, flickies fly upward. Shadow looks down to see pebbles on the grass shaking. He then looks ahead to see giant glowing sparking shockwave heading towards him. He stands, ready to fight and the shockwave engulls him.
in a red core of a purple void, a blue and purple streaks spins inside the purple ball. Shadows gloves and rings reach towards it. Another flashes before his eyes and they went wide in horror to see scared lashanie punching on the invisible wall that's keeping her from escaping.
"help! Somebody help! Help! Shadow!!!!" she cried.
shadow reaches towards her only to hit the invisible wall between them. Suddenly, lashanie gets sucked into the vortex of oblivion. She tries to hold on and reach for anything, but it was too late as she disappears.
"NO!!! LASHANIE!!!" he shouted.
A blizzard of bubble sparks files around him. The shockwave passes as shadow glares up ahead.
"sonic."
he then softens as fear comes across his face.
"Lashanie..."
shadow speeds through green hill again as his yellow streak flashes between palm trees and rocks he wears rings on his black and red shoes, which slides over the grass on yellow pockets of air. Some distance ahead, gold rings floats in lines as sonic collects them in full speed. His blue streak and shadow's yellow one towards each other. Sonic sees shadow and screams and couldn't help himself as shadow punches him into the air.
"so, I know what you're thinking. 'Sonic has a twin brother?' well, no. This guy's right here is shadow, and he's my biggest rival."
the scene shows shadow breaking the rocks like a boss and skating in speed with yellow streaks behind him as it showed his shoes.
"he's also real buzz-kill. And by the way he roller-skates!"
shadow turns to the readers as he skates.
"they're air shoes."
back to them as sonic falls on the ground. He gets up and looks at him in shock.
"shadow?!"
"what did you do?" shadow demanded, stomping towards to him.
"What did I do? Eggman's the bad guys, remember?"
"you literally shook the world. You even put my little sister out of existence!"
shadow skates towards to him and tries to attack him when sonic jumps over him and lands, collecting the rings along the way.
"that's 'cause I'm good. And powerful, apparently. Jealous?"
sonic speeds off as shadow teleports behind him and chases him.
"Also, what are you talking about? I'd never hurt your little sis or whatever you said. You wouldn't know what to do without her. Maybe my winning disrupted your brooding? Or is it sulking? That's a word, right?"
shadow spins up and land.
"You need to stop, sonic, Listen for once!"
sonic zooms past shadow and does it again. Shadow chase him again as they speed around palm trees and bushes. Shadow skates up on the path and jumps on sonic, who goes flying.
"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!"
sonic lands running, but trips on the rock and runs on his hand instead. He looks upside down and sees shadow still chasing him. He looks ahead and sees big rock and spins over them. Shadow plows through them. Sonic turns quick at the wall and shadow runs on it and skates up on the path again. He jumps in front of sonic, who spins behind him. Shadow spins around the tree and hits sonic, causing rings to fall out of him. Sonic slams into another tree and loses more rings.
"I could do this all day!"
sonic throws coconuts and shadow teleports away from them and runs at him. Sonic dodges as shadow hits the tree. They both use the tree as a ramp and fly. Shadow teleports closer to sonic and knocks him down.
"Whoa!"
Sonic spins in the air as he screams until he hits the ground as shadow lands. Sonic gets up and puts his hands up.
"clearly you're angry, which is normal."
he goes back to running and shadow chases him.
"But I'm supposed to be on a bit of the mission here, shadow!"
"what mission?"
"None of your business. Or as your sister would say 'Nunya business!'"
they zoom around the green clearing. Some flickies gather around the cliff and watch. Blue and yellow streaks cross over each other. Sonic spins around shadow to make a tornado. Shadow makes a tornado that grows taller and sonic busts out of his. Shadow follows and knocks sonic into the air. Sonic lands and jumps away from shadow, who catches up and punches him. Sonic slides across the grass and Into a rock under the flickies. They tweet at him, who looks up at them.
"I know, we're fighting again. Don't worry guys, I'll calm him down."
sonic takes off and shadow lands on the rock and chases.
"Dude, whatever the beef, we're not gonna settle it the way."
sonic turns and jumps over shadow then runs off. Shadow teleports again, lands, and punches sonic. Sonic runs around shadow and shadow spins after him, who dodges the punch. Sonic ducks another punch, spins, and flips onto his feet. They spin at each other on the ground then in the air. A white light flashes as sonic and shadow are on ground and then they get on to their feet after. Sonic turns to the mountain and gasps. Explosion could be heard and seen from the top of the mountain.
"Oh, no! My friends!"
sonic turns to him.
"Look, shadow, I'm late--"
he was cut off by shadow punching him in the face.
"Learn to focus." shadow said.
three blur flickies fly around Sonic's head to show his dizziness from the hard punch.
"I can't remember a thing after that punch."
In new yoke city, on the roof, Knucks jumps from on building to another as rebel files by him.they go to another roof and duck from babbles bot carrying sonic, lashanie, and Nine.
"Are you sure we were best friend?" Nine questioned.
"I even question myself that why am I friends with sonic still." lashanie said.
"well, that's hurtful. You are so much like your big brother." sonic said.
"hey!!"
"The blue streak has a friend?" knuckles questioned.
"didn't look friendly. But whoever he is, he's involved now. Along with her."
A beep was heard and rebel answered her to watch reveal a raccoon.
"hey, boss! You gotta get back to HQ now. There's something you gotta see."
rebel and knucks look at each other then runs across the roof. Rebel files and knucks jumps off the roof and they go down the pipe. Rebel slips inside and knucks lands and follows her. Residents stand on a moving sidewalk by a street. Underneath, a paint of logo of cracked egg marks a wall big room with computers and the map. Door slide open as rebel and knucks enter.
"rebel rouge, Renegade knucks, right over here." raccoon said.
rebel steps into the computer and types. Footage from the train station plays as it shows sonic and lashanie fighting against Nine.
"Snap out of it! We go way back!" sonic pleaded.
"Please! Just stop and listen! Please be rational! I don't wanna hurt you!" lashanie pleaded.
the footage cuts to sonic's next words that shocked them.
"Don't you want go home? Blue skies, sunny beaches, palm trees?"
it later cuts to lashanies face that made them have hope.
"Did he just say...?" knuckles starts.
In green hill, flickies fly up pass the leafy trees. Rouge sleeps upside down with her wings covering her like a blanket. Suddenly, loud stomps was heard and a coconut falls, causing rouge to wake up.
"Huh? Whoa!"
A loud stomp causes the tree to shake rouge off and she lands on her feet. Behind her, something plows through the tree as rouge watches them sweep away.
"Huh?"
more trees fall and other bunch up as something pushes them and rouge gets pushed too. Eggforcers push the trees and kick up dirt around them. Rouge hangs on then files up above them. She watches dirt clouds cover the grass and goes higher. The eggforcers pushes the line of trees away and more trees fall, shaking the ground. Rouge hears a scream and turns and spots knuckles on the dock.
"Get away!"
He punches the robots into the water and they march towards him.
"stop destroying our forest!."
Another robot stalks toward him and rouge swoops down and carries knuckles away. They heard a shout and look down to see lashanie stabbing robots with her spear while kicking them away.
"Back! Get away!"
more robots starts surrounding her as she struggles to fight back. Rouge swoops down while carrying knuckles, who holds a hand out to her.
"Lashanie!"
lashanie looks up and jumps over the robots and uses them as a trampoline for her to jump towards them and grab onto his hand. They fly up in the air and look down at fires burning. Steel and concrete buildings take the place to hills. The eggman logo appears. A path becomes train tracks. Cliffs turns into curving buildings with neon. Walking residents stop in moving sidewalk.
"N-no..." lashanie voiced out, stuttering.
"it's gone. All of it." knuckles said in disbelief and sadness.
suddenly, lashanie get determined.
"No. Not everything is gone."
Rouge and knuckles turns to her in surprise.
"we'll get it back. We'll get our homes back."
"How? It's... It's hopeless."
"You don't lose hope, knuckles. If you do, you lose everything."
Rouge and knuckles stare at her before smiling, knowing she's right.
At headquarters, rebel turns to knucks.
"The blue guy is obviously an enemy of the council too. And nightingale is alive. I don't know how, but I know this. They're strong, fast, and they know we can make a better world. That's hope. That's what nightingale means."
they turn to a palm tree under a light.
"Let's get 'em out" knucks said.
"and save nightingale."
they then run off. Their comrades keep looking at the single palm tree with grass and rocks in cylinder.
meanwhile, at chaos council headquarters.
"those in favor of stress-testing this blue rabbit then to nightingale, say yes!" Done-it said.
"Oh, yes, please!"
"let's see how powerful he is."
Most of the chaos council watches sonic dodge lasers. Flying eggs beams spotlight down on the moving sidewalk where big and foggy stand. Rebel and knucks hide from spotlights. The council watches sonic duck and jump from shooting lasers. Sonic jumps through cones before they mashed together. Don't plays his mobile game. The flying eggs sweep with their spotlight. At council headquarters, rusty watches sonic's data and types. Sonic runs on a propeller. Mr. Doctor Eggman grins and nods.
"interrogation protocol engaged."
a spotlight falls on big and froggy.
"Denzien 1-9-9-8, you were seen with a blu hedgehog and nightingale lashanie. Explain yourself."
rebel and knucks land on a roof and looks towards council headquarters in the distance.
"there's a small chance we can get in through the ventilation system." rebel explained.
"how small?" knuckles questioned.
"You don't wanna know. First, we have to get through the fortness firewall."
She brings out her watch to show the hologram of the map to the headquarters.
"if we set off its sensors, the guards will be on us like Mr. Doctor's bad toupee. They probably have the hedgehog and nightingale up there... In their lab."
"Alright, stealth it is."
rebel looks at him, which he notices.
"What? I stealth!"
"Stealth Is not your thing. But it's adorable you're willing to try. Like how you're willing to try and win nightingale' heart, but we both ended up winning her heart instead."
"Adorable'?! And nightingale... She..."
knucks struggled to find a word but ended up shaking his head, while remembering nightingale choosing both of them as her friends and they've have been working out pretty well.
"if if makes you feel better, before we can stealth properly, we need a diversion."
they look at the egg-shaped council headquarters. In the lab, the council, Rusty, lashanie, and Nine watch sonic speed around inside the hamster ball. Rusty sees sonic's energy readings go from purple to red. Nine stands in guard while lashanie gets angry.
"Oh, I knew it. He's got the same energy that powers the city."
sonic's screams can be heard as he pushes forward to more speed. Lashanie robotic wings starts to glow brighter as her electricity sparks around her until she yells at the top of her lungs.
"STOP!!!!"
sparks and volts flicker through the ball. A white flash goes off. In a blue and purple void, streaks curve and twist. Sonic spots shadow's shaped ahead.
"sonic, it's broken! It's all broken!" shadow said.
"shadow? Uh-oh, I think I'm starting to hallucinate!"
sonic keeps running and energy explodes through the lab at the same time with lashanies electricity power from her outburst. The shockwave bursts out of the headquarters and enrolls through the city. Rebel and knucks brace themselves and the shockwave throws them back as it passes. It leaves everything behind at dark. The shockwave hits a bot and flying eggs and both of them falls from the air. The shockwave hits chopper bots and the propellers stop and they fall. They land by residents, including Big and Froggy.
on the roof, rebel and knuckles get up looking at the sudden blackout of the city.
"how's that for a diversion?" knuckles chuckled.
rebel and knucks walk towards the council headquarters.
"The power just went out."
rebel looks down at the street and watches big step up to a dead chopper bot. He pushes it with his foot. With froggy on his shoulder, Big smiles. Another resident kick another bot and more residents do the same. Big and froggy look at each other and head off.
"This had literally never happened. Is this what luck feels like?" rebel asked in shock.
"feels more like a trap to me." knuckles said.
"I don't know. First, the blu hedgehog and nightingale shows up, and now new yoke city loses its power."
"Ah, maybe you're right, but it feels like a traaap!"
rebel picks and files towards council headquarters. Inside, they reach an intersection of two tunnels with an emergency lighting in the sides. They look down one way rebels runs that way and knucks follows.
in the council lab, sonic flows and floats downward in spiral and lands on his back with a groan. Lashanie collapse from the outburst dh let out and would've fall to the ground if it weren't for Nine catching her. The lights come back on and the council struggles in the floor. Nine and lashanies eggforcer guards wakes up and stand. Rusty Rose wakes up as well. Outside, lights turn on throughout the city. Chopper bots rise and th moving sidewalk start again.
"denizens, order! Return to formation!"
The residents obey, but some are having second throughts.
"if it happened once, it could happened again! We gotta join the resistance!" they whispered to others.
in the lab, Mr. Doctor Eggman touches his hair only to feel bald.
"My toupee! My toupee!" he screamed.
he then finds the hair and puts it back on. Done-it struggles to get back his floating egg seat.
"Ah, so help me... I tell ya what, I..."
Don't find his mobile game over.
"Ugh! I almost had the high score!"
rusty turns to her screen and types. She looks at sonic then to lashanie, who slowly gets up with his help of Nine. Sonic flashes back to the paradox prism in the cave.
"paradox prism." he mumbled out.
in the cave, sonic was speeding towards the paradox prism.
"Sonic, wait!" tails called.
"sonic! Stop! Somethings wrong!" lashanie called, running after him.
shadow appears in the cave entrance.
"shadow?"
he didn't get a chance to think as the ring that held his hand and feet grabs onto them again in its bubbles. The ring files between two robot arms and they take hold of it. The council sits in the floating chairs again. Lashanie notices her handcuffs was halfway cut and secretly smirks herself in victory. Sonic tries to get out of the bubbles, but grunts in frustration.
"So, what do I get for passing the test?"
he snickers before sighing, looking tired.
"Did this blue rat figure out a way to steal our power supply along with nightingale?" Done-it asked in shock.
"correction, your eminence. They did not draw on the city's power, but--"
"they brought their own" Nine cuts rusty off, shocking lashanie that he's telling them.
"What?! What do you mean, they brought their own? How does the two Hedgehog walk in here with the same power supply as our battery?" Deep questioned in shock.
Done-it sleeps for second before quickly waking up. Sonic chuckles, looking like he's on drunk while lashanie glares and growls at the council that are looking at her as well.
"incredible! Our crystal plush their energy charge would give us enough power to finally stamp out the resistance and put an end to those pesky rebel forever!" Mr. Doctor Eggman.
"you'll never take them down!! Not when they have hope!" Lashanie shouted before getting tased by the eggcrusher. "Watch it"
babble starts babbling something before giggling, which shocked the council.
"uh, really? Don't you think that's a little excessive?" Mr. Doctor Eggman asked.
Babble slams his fist on the table as an answer.
"you heard the baby. Energy extractor."
Mr. Doctor Eggman claps.
"NO!!" lashanie shouted and gets tased again.
above, steam gushed for a large hole. Sonic looks up. Wearing headcuffs, Nine looks up along with lashanie. The council looks up and so as rusty. A machine extends out of a hole. It has a nozzle in the center and long spike on each of two arms. It gets closer to Sonic.
"Anyone else having bad dentist flashbacks?"
"don't remind me, Sonic..." lashanie growled.
"cut out the prismatic energy he's got inside that prickly hide of his! Then we'll do the same to nightingale!" Done-it said.
"Wait! Can a hedgehog say his last word?" Sonic said.
The council looks at each other before looking at Sonic.
"Fine! But be brief!"
"well... Uh..."
Sonic inhales sharply, trying to think of something until he was cut off.
"hey, hedgehog! Get on with it!"
"Right. I just wanna say that this life of mine has been a wild ride."
Nine and lashanie winks at Sonic, who winks back twice. Lashanie starts breaking the handcuffs with her electricity.
"who would've imagined the places I'd go it the chili dog I'd eat when I got there."
Mr. Doctor Eggman smacks Done-it from sleeping again.
"Uh, im here. I'm... I'm listening."
"but at the end of the day, it's not about the ups or downs or the zigs or the zags. It's about the friends we made along the way."
sonic flashes back to tails in the cave.
"sonic, wait!" tails called.
he give tails a thumbs up until he flashes back in the lab.
huh? Uh..."
Sonic winks at lashanie and nine.
"enough with the winning already!" Mr. Doctor Eggman snapped.
"I'm almost done, I'm almost done. Where was I? Uh... Uh... Um..."
"oh, boy."
"Ah, friends! Right! Alright, let's see, um...Froggy and big. Ah, always there when I needed a pick-me-up rouge! Oh, Rouge with her... With her heart of gold hidden beneath her wings. And, uh, and knuckles! With his... Knuckles! I would also like to thank Amy." he said, glancing at rusty.
"thanking? Does he think he's winning an award?" deep questioned.
Babbles screams in anger and impatience, waking Done-it up.
"babble is right. It's almost dinner time. Finish him and then after dinner we'll finish nightingale for good." Mr. Doctor Eggman said
"Oh, already? But I'm not done." sonic groaned and whispers to Nine and lashanie. "Hey, sir Winks-A-Lot, there is a plan, right? Right?"
"Nope, sorry. Just dust in my eye." Nine said, rubbing his eye.
Lashanie isn't paying attention to him as she's busy getting out of her handcuffs as she almost done. Sonic gulps and looks at the machine that's coming close.
"Looks like this is game over."
The extractor spins and glows red. Mr. Doctor Eggman drums his fingers together. Rusty and Nine watch as lashanie went faster at cutting the handcuffs. Sonic blows on the extractor and looks at Nine and lashanie, who looks up and shut his eyes.
"see ya, buddies."
just as it comes closer, something knocks the extractor away. Rebel swoops up from it and floats with two fist. The chaos council gasps. Sonic looks around and smiles.
"I'm alive! I'm alive!"
"Rouge?!" lashanie exclaimed in shock.
"nightingale!" rebel smiled.
"GET HER!!" the chaos council shouted.
two eggforcers fly after rebel. One fires at her. Nine sees rusty distracted and sneaks away. Lashanie managed to break out of her handcuffs and brings out her robotic wings and flies towards to eggforcers. Knucks crashes into the lab.
"so, we done stealthing?"
rebel lands and put up her fist.
"One hundred percent."
"Stealth, huh? Impressive, you guys." lashanie said, landing besides them.
"n-nightingale." knucks gasped, looking happy to see her.
Lashanie turns to them and frowns.
"sorry, but it's lashanie." lashanie said.
rebel and knucks looks at her in confusion, but she flies past them towards Sonic. The extractor shoots a laser by ring arm.
"Hang on, Sonic!" lashanie called.
rusty jumps in and blocks lashanie, rebel, knuckles and slams them into the wall.
"what's going on? I can't see." Sonic cried out.
"Don't worry" lashanie groans then growls as they push rusty back againest the extractor.
"wait, wait..."
The laser cuts into the ring arm.
"wait!"
The arm breaks and releases the ring. It rolls away with Sonic still inside as he screams along the way.
"filthy rebels. Destroy them!" Mr. Doctor Eggman ordered.
Bots fly at lashanie, rebel, and renegade knucks, but they punch them away. The council moves back from falling bots. Don't dodge another falling bot. In the air, rebel throws a bot against the wall.
"Eggforcers, secure all targets." Rusty ordered.
three eggforcers rise from under the floor and fly. Knucks punches the bot. The eggforcers goes towards at him. Knucks turns to punch them only to see the eggforcers electrocued and exploded after. Smoke cleared to reveal lashanie did the destruction as smoke come out of her wings from releasing electricity. She blows off the smoke from her robotic wings then flies off. Rusty runs from her screen and Nine sneaks up to it, ducking from the fighting. With two of his mechanical tails, he starts typing. The handcuffs releases him. Meanwhile, poor sonic keeps rolling in the ring.
"whoa!"
An eggforcers flies by him and spins it, making sonic scream more. Like a coin, the ring spins slower and roll to lose flat to the floor. Nine types some more and the bubbles releases sonic.
"okay, hedgehog, your up."
sonic stands unsteadily.
"A bit woozy from all the lab testing." he said and chuckled. "Rouge? Knuckles?"
"how do you know our names?" rebel demanded.
rebel pulls up rusty and kicks her away. Rusty pulls rebel to the floor. With her robot arm, rusty grabs her, but rebel kicks free and files away from eggforcers' fire.
"Rebel!"
Rusty turns to knucks and dodges his punches and grabs him by the tail and throws him by the wall.
"Oh, come on, Amy. Why you gotta hate on 'em like that?" sonic groans.
lashanie throws her fan at Rusty and hits her head on the head, catching her attention. She gets into her fighting stance and gestures Rusty to come at her. Rusty glares and both standing serveral feet from each other. Rusty charges lashanie with her fist and attempts to punch her, only for the black hedgehog to acutely Dodge all of her blows. Rusty brings down her right fist to land another blows, however, lashanie manages to push her away. Rusty leaps into the air and extends her robot arms at lashanie. She jumps and lands safely several feet away while avoiding the laser. Rusty charges at her as she rises to her feet. After dodging several more attacks, she manages to backhand her forehead, causing her to fall back a few feet from the impact and charges at her again.
The two continue to duel, eventually making their way in the middle of the fight. Lashanie manages to grab hold rusty's arm and knocks her to her feet with the electricity blast. Rusty lands roughly on the ground. She gets to see lashanie who moves both of her arms in a circular motion, generating electricity. She readies the attack, and to fire at Rusty Rose, only to see white flashes to regular Amy smiling at her and giving her friendship bracelet she made. Lashanie frowns and redirect the electricity, causing it to strike at the eggforcer that were attacking rebel and knucks as they exploded in the processes.
Rusty looks at her in shock.
"I..can't hurt you, Amy." lashanie said.
Rusty's eyes flickers from red to yellow for a moment, but she shakes her head and glared.
"big mistake."
she leaps with a pointy fist, and lashanie jumps away. Rusty stalks towards her and punches. Meanwhile, sonic runs and flips from the attack of the eggforcers. He dodges back to another wall.
"Man, why is the room still spinning?"
sonic jumps away from the bot and jumps over another one. He sees a third coming and spins and knocks back three eggforcers.
"Whoa!"
he bumps into a extractor and it's laser ray swings around wildly. It cuts down an eggforcers.
"Ugh, feels like their luck ran out." knucks groaned.
the laser cuts across the wall and cuts off the tops of council's chairs.
"Or maybe not." rebel said.
The council screams and zooms into the place the new eggforcers arrived and escaped down through the floor. More eggforcers come to life. One leap to throw a punch, knucks meets it, and the eggforcer explodes. Knucks flips over another one and punches two back. Another eggforcer runs, but knucks knocks it down. Nine types at rusty's screen as blanks for a password appears. He tries one, but it buzzes as Don't's laughter could be heard. Nine tries another, but receives another buzz.
"Access denied."
Nine screams in frustration and slams his fist down. The extractor lasers heads for sonic, and he ducks away just in time. Nine tries another password, but it buzzes again.
"Uh-uh-uh."
an eggforcer comes up behind him, but Nine cuts its arm with his metal tails and pushes it into the lasers as it explodes. Knucks jumps from attack and punches eggforcers and turns to Nine. Nine points a metal tail at him.
"No. Catch up echidna. I'm one of the good guys."
knucks looks at him for a moment before running off. Another password fails.
"Ha, ha, loser"
Nine growls. Back to lashanie and rusty as lashanie dodges more punches from rusty's robot arm. She flips back, but rusty grabs her neck and slams her into the floor and holds her against the wall. She makes a fist with her other robot arm and aims it at lashanie.
"nightingale, terminal"
sonic turns and gasps along with nine, rebel, and knucks.
"LASHANIE!!/NIGHTINGALE!!"
Rusty files at lashanie with her fist as she goes for a blow.
