A/N: I decided to change the timeline to 15 years instead of 10 years. I felt that Sarah was still a bit too young for my taste and I wanted her to be a bit closer in age to me currently as I write this. I changed the other chapters to reflect the change.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to give my story a read, this is my first Labyrinth fanfiction and I was nervous as all get out about posting it. There isn't going to a set schedule for me to upload the chapters as I have work and real life issues to deal with.

Also, a HUGE, ENOURMOUS LUDO-SIZED HUG to Nizbith, jarethstwilighteyes, and jennifer blanchette for the follows of the story. I was ecstatic to get those notifications in my email.

Please leave a review if you have time, I would absolutely love the feedback. And without further ado…

I do not own anything except any OC characters that I choose to add into the story. Thank you.

V.

Sarah blushed deeply at his gaze and shifted uncomfortably until his eyes found their way back to hers. She cleared her throat as the blush faded slightly, as their eyes met again. "I…uh…graduated high school, then tried my hand at college. My father wanted me to follow in his footsteps in law, but I just didn't have the heart for it. I wanted to pursue other interests." She replied, her blush returning as he raised an eyebrow, as she continued, "I wanted to try my hand at acting. I was always drawn to the theatre. I guess it was in my genetics thanks to my birth mother. So I attempted. But I couldn't keep up with the schedule and routines. It was too taxing. I felt as though it stifled my creativity." She sighed and looked up at the window, the sunlight reflecting dimly off the stone as she continued, "I decided to write of my dreams and adventures." She paused as she returned her gaze back to Jareth's.

His eyebrow was still raised, but his face held a smile instead of his usual smirk, "I am willing to wager that your writings did well?" He asked, his tone light and amused.

Sarah nodded, "I had to choose my audience carefully. I decided to write towards an eclectic range of interests. Which bode as well as could be for what most people perceived as fiction." She replied.

"Most?" Jareth asked, keeping his eyebrow raised.

"Yes, most." She replied, her gaze traveling back to the window as she spoke as it was hard to concentrate on forming sentences while he stared at her, "Some of my fan base believed that it was all true and would ask me a range of questions, even so much as asking for the particular phrase in which the character wished away his little sister with." She frowned slightly, "I may have tweaked the words a bit. Words have power, I have learned." Sarah remarked, letting her gaze shift back to Jareth's.

Jareth let his eyebrow relax and gave Sarah a knowing look, "Of course they do, precious." He said softly.

Sarah's gaze softened, "I'm sorry." She said, and she watched his eyebrow raise again as she continued, "I figured many things out about my journey the older and more mature I became. I didn't know how much trouble I caused you with my words…and of course careless wishes." Sarah said, giving him a small smile.

"What's said is said, as I think you know, Sarah." Jareth replied, waving a hand nonchalantly as he spoke, "Though I will accept your apology, as I find it seems you have matured in more ways than one." His tone became light and amused again and he grinned at her. "But enough jest, what happened after your big break?"

Sarah shook her head at his comment, but replied, "I continued writing until I decided to take a break for a while, bought an apartment near my hometown to be closer to Toby. He'll be turning 16 this year. And he always has inspiration that sparks crazy ideas for some of my stories. It seems he remembers bits and pieces of his time spent with you." She remarked, "I have even caught him humming a song of some sort. I caught a few words…something about 'you remind me of a babe'." Sarah finished, looking pointedly at Jareth.

Jareth grinned at her, his eyes a-light with a playful look. "Ah yes, what a fine young chap he is. Shame you had to go and win him back." He said, teasingly.

Sarah rolled her eyes at his comment. "And what about yourself, your majesty, I'm sure you've had a busy 15 years." She teased back, smirking at him.

Jareth was taken aback at her response to his playfulness, but recovered quickly as he replied, "Oh trust me, Precious, you do not want hear the dull drivel and monotonous mediocrity that is court politics. A great load of unnecessary pleasantry and an enormous waste of my time. Time better spent strengthening and bettering my kingdom." His tone was serious, with a thick coating of annoyance.

Sarah smiled softly, "You seem to care a lot about your kingdom. And I feel like a caused an unreasonable amount of damage the last time I was there." She asked, her tone light.

"Other than being a right pain to clean up after and repair said damages, but nevertheless, my kingdom endures. Goblins are stubborn, resilient little blighters, who thrive on chaos. Takes more than a headstrong 15-year-old, who razed the city to the ground with her compatriots to dampen their spirits." Jareth replied, winking at Sarah, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "I am quite positive that nothing short of an apocalyptic-type event of magnanimous proportions would even be enough to put a sizeable dent in their numbers."

Sarah laughed as he spoke about the Goblin kingdom, her face in a wide smile for the first time since finding herself in this unusual circumstance.

As she laughed, Jareth felt the sound wash over him with renewed vigor. He would give nothing more than to hear that melodious sound every day, but his heart was guarded, since he had rejected him once before. He would have to make sure of how Sarah felt about him, before he chose to bare his soul to her again.

Sarah composed herself and as changed positions on the floor, letting her legs stretch out and resting her arms at her sides before she spoke again. "And speaking of my friends, how are they? I used to have weekly meet ups with them when I was younger, but I haven't spoken with them in almost 10 years. Adult life is much busier than I would have originally thought."

Jareth sighed, "I had wondered when you were going to inquire about them." He gave her a smirk before continuing, "Hoghead is enjoying his newfound position as prince."

"Hoggle." Sarah corrected as she looked utterly confused, "A prince? Prince of what?" She asked, almost not wanting to know the answer.

"Prince of the Land of Stench, of course." Jareth laughed, his eyes glittering. As he heard Sarah gasp, he smiled, "As promised, I told him that if you kissed him, he would become a prince of the Bog of Eternal Stench. I have a reputation to uphold, you know?" He paused for a moment, as he watched her glare at him, "Though it's mostly just a title as he is essentially one of my most loyal subjects, even if he is terrified of me. He mostly oversees to the Goblin's needs, reports back to me on any complaints that need to be handled by myself personally, the comings and goings of the market including vendors and of the like, and anything other tasks that I assign him as a constant reminder to not defy his king." His tone was light and amused as he continued, "He still resides in his home, and now oversees a group that tends to the ever-perpetual fairy infestation that continuously aggravates the Labyrinth."
