The Marine Contra leaps from a drawbridge across a vast canyon in a burst of speed and chakra. The slower Red Zetsus tumble into the chasm; however, the faster persistent abominations keep pace and climb the drawbridge's bracing system. Jimi electrifies his hand with Lightning Release before grabbing one of the bridge girders. Electricity surges within the metal, dropping dozens of flesh-eating ghouls like flies in a bug zapper. He sprints through the ruins of Fort Firestorm, avoiding the zombified soldiers lumbering around.
Jim rushes past the abandoned APCs (Armored Personnel Carriers) and tanks obstructing the roads. The bodies stuck on the stalagmites roar and twitch; the Red Zetsus within the armored vehicles grab at him from the windows as he dashes into the flooded outpost. Uneasiness washes over him as the terrain becomes more tedious to traverse.
Blood conceals the potential hazards beneath the water's crimson surface. Silhouettes of all shapes and sizes appear in the shallow regions; Jim jumps atop a boulder, preventing the cannibalistic fiends from pulling him underwater. Debris inhibits the abominations from emerging; nevertheless, a decaying corpse breaks free. It leaps from the water as he pulls a small metal rod from his inventory.
The metal rod extends, impaling the Red Zetsu's fleshy ribcage. The abomination screeches and claws at the air as Jim holds it in place. He grabs the Bo staff with both hands, sending several volts inside the flesh-eating ghoul's body. The war criminal shakes the metal staff until the rabid mutant resembles a screeching, smoldering red blur moving up and down at a blistering rate. He increases the wattage, setting the abomination ablaze; its residual skin and muscle tissue rip and tear, then fall apart from the legs upward. The Red Zetsu's burning bones and internal organs splash, then fizzle in the bloody water until all but its head remains. Jim flings the flaming skull upward before batting it away into the canyon.
The abominations arise from the crimson water; Jim is out of their reach but surrounded. He deflects the Red Zetsus capable of lunging in the air at him or jabs down at any of them climbing too close. The boulder sways, yet he maintains his balance, walking as the boulder rolls. Bones crunch and grind against concrete; the rolling stone crushes all in its path.
Jim's momentum progresses to a brisk walk, flattening the zombie-like creatures underneath like a gory toothpaste squeezer as they vomit their rotting entrails. The sudden increase in pressure expels the built-up gas and bodily fluids within the walking corpses, resulting in crude flatulence-like sounds. He almost loses balance due to his twisted sense of humor.
The boulder's velocity intensifies; Jim accelerates from brisk walking to light jogging. His Two-Hand Underarm Spin hastens as he swats away the Red Zetsus lunging at him. Dead ahead, the runaway boulder is on a collision course with a reinforced wall. He shoves his staff down a mutant's gullet, poll-vaulting over the blockade. The boulder impacts the wall's surface, squishing another abomination against it like an undead insect.
Jim lands a Three-Point Pose, holding his Bo staff behind him. He stands, gives the weapon a quick spin before it retracts, and seals it away in his inventory. The ground is vibrating—a constant pulse strengthening every second. The low rumble becomes a violent pounding, which Jim identifies as giant footsteps rushing toward him. He dodges the behemoth, trying to devour him whole. The mutant berserker crashes into the wall as he stands on the wall's surface above, staring in disbelief at the hulking monstrosity.
"Sweet mother-Marry of Josephine!? What the goddamned titty-fuck is that thing!? Jesus Christ!"
The bipedal behemoth's upper torso comprises multiple human and animal corpses partway absorbed into its flesh. Blood leaks from the grotesque abomination's eyes and mouths, resulting in a constant jabbering/gurgling noise. Its head resembles a hideous amalgamation of body parts (both animal and human), with two long fleshy tentacle-like tongues coming out of what appears to be its mouth. Jim evades the appendages, trying to impale him.
The berserker rushes after Jim like a runaway train, smashing and knocking around everything in its path. He keeps his distance, ascertaining the quickest way to immobilize the beast while assessing its weaknesses. He turns around mid-step; his hands fly through a sequence of seals. An upheaval in the ground trips the berserker; he backflips over a stalagmite exploding from underneath the road that impales the behemoth's forehead.
Jim sustains his counterattack until the beast's tongue ensnares his ankle, yanking him in the air. He straightens his hand, severs the appendage using his Synergistic Sabre, and dodges another tentacle-like extremity. A horde of Red Zetsus amass atop the walls, spilling into the base.
Jim growls in anger, "I don't have time for this!" he draws his rifle, dashing for the stone towers. The mutant berserker pulls its head from the stalagmite and takes off like a screaming bull after him. He channels small quantities of chakra to his feet and runs up the skyscraper's surface. Jim empties the stripper clip, firing at the berserker's joints to immobilize or slow it down. The berserker flinches a few times before a round maims its leg. The behemoth changes course without delay; with its massive arms, it grabs handfuls of the Red Zetsus, climbing the walls before cannibalizing them. The enormous biomass the beast ingests regenerates its injuries while further mutating the behemoth.
A dense skeletal shell forms around the berserker's torso, arms, and legs; horns grow on its head, giving the beast a more demonic appearance. Its fingers and feet morph into razor-sharp claws.
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me!" Jim shouts. Despite the berserker's massive size, it scales the skyscraper after him at breakneck speed. The armored behemoth slams its powerful arms down at him. He uses Substitution Jutsu with the stalagmite, causing the berserker to impale its hands. The explosive tags on the stalagmite detonate, throwing the beast from the tall structure like a flaming ragdoll. Jim replaces his rifle's stripper clip while distancing himself from the hulking monstrosity. He dashes through the thickening horde using his rifle stock as a weapon when necessary; however, some of the mutants rebound as fast as he drops them.
Jim shoulders his rifle, resorting to Earth Release to redirect or obstruct the abominations in his path. He throws a half-eaten carcass off an anti-tank gun, then readies the twin turrets.
The berserker explodes from the burning rubble storming after Jim, but a projectile impacts the behemoth's shoulder. The beast stumbles as its arm jerks back; he fires the second turret, stopping the berserker dead in its tracks. A mass of explosions envelops the armored behemoth.
"Get bent, you flamin' sphincter stretchin' back door bandit!" Jim rages, unleashing a semi-auto barrage of chakra-conducting shells with each pull of the triggers. He ceases fire, then crushes the half-eaten carcass's skull with his boot before it can bite his leg. He kicks the twitching reanimated Red Zetsu away; the berserker lunges from the smoke, then destroys one of the turrets, forcing him to dodge.
The beast's skeletal armor is now nothing more than tatters of cartilage and bone fragments. Jim draws his rifle, hoping the unarmored behemoth is vulnerable. It tries grabbing him; he runs up the berserker's arm, chambers a bullet, and fires, taking a chunk off its head. The beast swings its other arm; the Marine Contra b-twists, reloads, and fires. The round ricochets in the behemoth's skull, causing it to lose equilibrium.
Jim lands, shouldering his rifle, then draws a kunai. The berserker grabs at him yet again. He ducks, spins, drives the kunai into its exposed ribs, and shoves it deeper with his palm. He extends his index and pinky fingers, holding the rest down with his thumb.
"Lightning Release: Synergistic Sabre!" the kunai becomes a blade of pure lightning, piercing the mutant berserker's abdomen. Jim grabs the kunai handle, then yanks the saber forward, spilling the behemoth's intestines. The berserker swings its arm; he tosses the galvanic blade overhead before flipping above the incoming appendage. The kunai's handle clings to his boot; the saber slices the berserker's jaw below its eyes, resulting in an unsuccessful decapitation.
Jim lands, then backhand springs away as the behemoth lunges forward, trying to crush him. The beast's tongue whips through the air at the war criminal. He electrifies his hand with Lightning Release and catches the extremity centimeters from his face. Electricity surges within the behemoth's body, bringing the abomination to its knees; it tries ripping off its tongue, but Jim lassos the appendage around the beast's head and hands. He darts behind the berserker, then kicks its spine, snapping it like a twig. The fugitive channels chakra to his hand; concentric Rings of Power levitate above his palm.
"How many… How many did you mutilate to become what you are!?" Jim twitches his fingers, propelling the Surging Centrifuge toward the anti-tank gun. The berserker's eyes bulge as the barrel rockets straight past its meaty mutant mounds, bunker-busting the old backway boulevard without lube. He tangles conductive wire strings to the berserker's arms and around the anti-tank gun's trigger and locking mechanism, "I'm about to blow my load all over your insides."
The mutant berserker stares at the genocidal war criminal, uttering a noise almost like a "what—the!?"
"Pause!" Jim fires the anti-tank gun, popping the behemoth's skull like a cork. The recoil pulls the barrel out; the chakra rings push it in. The wire strings binding the berserker's arms pull the trigger; the weapon discharges, destroying the rest of the beast's head. The anti-tank gun continues firing and resetting each round like an improvised Bump Stock Configuration.
Jim is again sprinting for his life, unable to observe the resulting spectacle of his handiwork. A sizable horde stampedes after him as he scrambles toward an armored personnel carrier. The mass murderer throws open the door, diving into the vehicle; an emaciated hand squeezes his ankle. He kicks the Red Zetsu away, then slams the door. The horde surrounds the APC; the flesh-eating ghouls shake and pound the armored vehicle, trying to break in. 'That reinforced glass won't hold much longer,' Jim can't find the keys despite searching every inch of the interior.
The war criminal removes the cover below the vehicle's steering column, then connects the ignition and battery wires, energizing the radio. A Red Zetsu breaches the front window with its arm, forcing him to duck. He joins the starter and battery wires, hotwiring the APC. Jim jams a kunai in the ignition, revs the engine, then shifts into first gear. He dumps the clutch with the revs near red, flooring the accelerator.
The tires screech as the vehicle rams into the horde. The cannibalistic fiend flails its arm, trying to grab Jim; he keeps his distance while shifting through the gears. The APC accelerates; visibility is scarce, but he steers toward the central tower's general direction. The abomination grabs the steering wheel; he loses control of the vehicle. The APC rolls—Jim clings to the seat with his chakra, safeguarding himself from severe injury.
The vehicle lodges into the tower's reinforced window upside down; Jim crawls from the wreckage with minor cuts, bruising, and slight dizziness, then shuffles into the building using the wall for support. He uses a nearby switch to close the security gates before the mutants shatter the glass.
Now able to stand without support, Jim steadies himself while observing his surroundings. The moons illuminate the lobby in a red hue. White noise emanates from a TV on a column shelf between two desks with decrepit propaganda posters along the walls. Broken glass litters the floor; a sizeable steel fan spins above, but it does little to alleviate the smell of iron on the bloody tiles.
Besides the Red Zetsus pounding on the barricades, the reception area is somewhat calm; regardless, Jim is sure the mutant responsible for flipping an armored personnel carrier is near. He stalks by the column approaching a dark hall. Past the reception desk, the Red Zetsu's footsteps squelch on the floor. The fugitive leans against a wall, halting a few steps from a junction.
