Hey guys, Harvoc Phantom here with an update. Or rather an author's note. And it's been a hell of a morning waking up to all these reviews, messages, and overall atmosphere from the readers about the previous chapter. And let me get straight to the point. Look. I get it. It's not like I haven't been in your shoes before. Madoka Magica, Yuuki Yuna, Danganronpa, Akame Ga Kill, etc, etc, etc. There had been times when I didn't want a character to die. And I get it, it's shitty. But guys, this is Kamen Rider Ryuki. A battle royal where Riders kill each other until one of them remains standing. It's been like that for a long ass time now. You can't tell me you weren't expecting deaths. We're 84 chapters in. Do you want to talk about favoritism? My favorite characters are Takeru, Damian, and Terunosuke. Look at how long I kept Takeru alive. Or any of them. Out of these 84 chapters, I have only killed Goro and Andreas.
Also, what do you mean none of the bad Riders have died? Does Zeke and Bragard not count? Sure, Bragard is technically not dead but might as well be. And spoiler, he will be. The story literally cannot progress or end until only one Rider is left standing. What am I to do? Keep them all alive until the very last chapter? Furthermore, you keep saying the bad guys have plot armor. Guys... there are like 4 of them, all of them being amped up by a God. We're talking about a fight that's already disadvantageous in number. 6 Symphogear, and 7 to 8 Riders against 4 people. Naturally, I can't go around killing two or more of them because yes, plot reasons. I won't deny that. But guess what? One of them was going to die this season. A few chapters away now, actually. I can't kill Allister yet because of his bond with Elsa and the fact they haven't seen each other, so yes, maybe I messed up on that part. But is the problem about you guys loving Takeru or the fact that you just want one of the bad Riders to die? Hazuki can't die because he's the second antagonist after Odin.
After some thought, here's what's going to happen. I'm going to leave the chapter up for the whole day today, and let people review and comment their opinions. Or DM me if you must. And if enough people want, I can rewrite the chapter so that Takeru lives. But only for this season. Because ultimately, he has to die. Whether that's in XV or in the season that I'm planning I don't know. But I have to be honest with you. I had another character planned to die later on this season too. And they have to die if Takeru lives. Unless I think of something else.
Overall, I am disappointed in the reviews/messages I got. Everyone is complaining about plot armor, and one of the readers straight up said he doesn't care about the deaths unless it's a main character. So according to them, Goro and Andreas dying is fine(lol). I had a lot of fun writing this fight. Probably the most I had since Hajime vs Bragard. But no one commented on it. And as an author, it's very discouraging. I didn't do this to make the story darker or edgier. It's just how Ryuki is structured. And spoiler alert: I was going to follow Ryuki's ending for this story. But not entirely. I'm not trying to write the next Berserk here. There is going to be a happy ending so I won't lie to you like that. But yeah...I'll let the chapter up and depending on what more people say, I'll make the proper changes. But honestly? I'm probably going to step down for a bit. Since if Takeru lives I have to change a wholeeeeeeee lot of things going down the line so I'll have to rewrite the whole story.
