New Moon of Yharnam
A World of Darkness x Bloodborne crossover
Chapter Five
"Son of a bitch! Call the others Philip, the Vampires are already at the nest waiting for us." Maurice muttered, as Gavlan cleaned out any gore that got in the barrels of his Repeating Pistol. The headless body of the Ghoul was now slumped over, blood slowly dribbling out into a puddle now that the initial spray had stopped. While Philip began tapping on his phone, Velia turned to the Judge Imbued, along with Eileen.
"What is the best course of action for us to do now? They're likely getting into position and barricading the inside of the nest right now." she asked. Maurice groaned and cursed under his breath.
"Damn it, we can't split up, as that will just make any attempt to break into the nest by force all the more weaker, which we might not be able to achieve without the rest of us. But we can't sit on our asses and let them continue barricading." Maurice muttered.
"I concur. We should make a move, if only to put pressure on the Vampires until the others get here." Eileen replied in agreement, when a knocking sound was heard.
"Hey Paul, is everything alright?" a womans voice asked. The Hunters looked at what remained of Pauls phone, which was blown into bits when Gavlans Quicksilver Bullets blasted through the Ghouls head. It was not long when they heard the sounds of keys jangling, and then the door being unlocked. Immediately Velia rushed over behind it, as she pulled out a bottle that was filled with what Gavlan recognized as a sedative bottle. As she reached into her pockets, the door obscured her form.
"Paul? Wait, what the fu-" a orange-haired woman said as she entered and saw the two men rush her, only for Velia to appear and stab her in the neck with a needle filled with the sedative. The woman made a gasp, and even reached for something in her pocket. Gavlan and Philip ran forward, and as the bystander started to pass out, she reflectively pulled an object out and sprayed a chemical at the Executioners eyes. The Executioner was able to just barely dodge the substance and pushed the womans arm away, however Philip was not as lucky as Gavlan accidentally pointed it into his face.
"WWWHHHYYY!" he screamed, falling over with his hands over his eyes and crashing into the ground. Gavlan cringed as Philip let out a storm of vile language while stamping his feet. Maurice ran over and picked him back up, while Velia and Eileen carried the unconscious woman into the room and out of the way. The two Imbued then walked over to the kitchen sink, while Gavlan followed. As Maurice turned the faucet on and held a cloth under it, the Executioner spoke sheepishly.
"Sorry..."
"Gah!" Philip cried out, as Maurice slapped the now wet cloth over his eyes.
"We are only going to move on, and never speak of this..." was all the Judge said in reply. "So I guess we better get out there and get moving."
The Hunters then gathered their equipment, and left the apartment with Gavlan carrying the woman over his shoulder, with Maurice locking it behind him. After Velia identifying her as a Hannah Glazer, Gavlan carried her into the elevator to leave the woman in her 6th floor apartment. As the doors opened, he wandered about the hall for a bit until he found her room number and opened the door. He noted the way her room was decorated in a completely different style to Paul, but in general ignored it in favor of putting her away on her bed. Once the blanket on top was covering her he turned around and exited the premise.
"Put this somewhere safe near the woman." he said to a nearby Messenger when it appeared next to him after he locked the door. With taking the woman back into her apartment done with, he went back to the elevator, and into the lobby where the other Hunters were waiting for Gavlan. With a nod of confirmation that Hannah was safely taken back into her apartment, the Executioner then met with them by a space where they could go unheard. Maurice was the one who spoke up.
"So anybody got any plans to-" he was then interrupted by the sound of the front doors opening, and looked to see several men in blue uniforms enter the building and went straight into the elevator. Gavlan also then remembered he still needed to wash out his uniform. "Well we just dodged a confrontation with the police. Last thing we need is cops calling the department on you Gavlan."
"I should probably hide. No doubt they will start asking you questions when they inevitably find the Ghouls body." the Executioner replied in agreement.
"Here, this will help." Velia said as she handed him a bottle full of Blue Elixir. "Just stay in that corner there, and don't drink it all at once, so it can last longer."
"What's that?" Philip asked.
"A sedative that doubles as a potion that renders the drinker almost completely invisible to the eyes. The process for making it is a difficult and long one, so I don't have much to spare save for one other vial. It also doesn't stop someone from hearing you." Velia explained, as Gavlan went into a corner and then drank the Blue Elixir as one of the police came back from the elevator.
"Hi. Is it alright if I ask you a few questions?" the policeman asked. Eileen turned to look at him, and replied.
"If you wish officer."
"Alright, we got reports that there was a shooting in this building, and found a body, which may or may not be related to a possible robbery of The Last Round, the nearby bar down the street. Have you noticed anything or anyone acting strangely in the area during the past few days?"
"No officer, but we have only been here for a day, so I can't really say." the Hunter of Hunter replied smoothly, noticing how Maurice eyed the badge of the policeman. The lawman also seemed to notice this, all the while Gavlan realized it had barely been but a scant few minutes when the police officers arrived.
"Is there something wrong sir?" the policeman asked.
"Uh no, I just noticed your badge said 56th Prescient." Maurice replied, and tapped Philip on the back with a three fingers. As the officer took a second to reply, Maurice curled up one of them.
"Oh, uh yeah that's where we are, last I checked to how the Prescients were laid out. 56th Prescient of the L.A.P.D." the lawman said. The two then had a chuckle as Maurice pulled his hand back from his fellow Imbued, then Philip suddenly punched the officer in the jaw with a glowing fist. As he stepped back stunned from the strike, Philip lifted him by the collar of his jacket, and slammed him into the wall. Maurice then knelt over the police officer.
"This is the 80th Prescient, and the 56th is halfway across L.A. Next time you try to play fake cop, make sure you are in the correct Prescient when someone asks." the man only groaned, before falling unconscious. The Blue Elixir then wore off, and Gavlan walked up to the other Hunters.
"How did you know that?" Philip asked.
"Google. They may not have been Ghouls but they were at the very least someone trying to jump in on the action." The doors then opened, and the other two false lawmen noticed the Hunters staring at them. They were also clearly shocked when they saw the blood soaked clothing Gavlan wore, and realized they likely gave themselves away when they didn't try to take Gavlan into 'custody' and run off with him.
"Shit, they're onto us!" one of them said upon seeing their comrade on the ground, and made a run for it leaving him behind. With a frown Gavlan followed them out the door, and watched as they ran down the street. When he turned to look upon the Vampire nest and pulled out his monocular, it was to find that someone was staring back at him from one of the windows of the converted Vampire nest. The person was back lit to obscure their identity, even if it likely was with what amounted to armor in this land. Gavlan could already see what looked to be the frame of a turret, similar to the kind the Powder Kegs were known for deploying in the streets of Old Yharnam before it was purged in flames.
However, while those were bulky framed boxes that were only useful for blocking choke points where the enemy can only move forwards or backwards, the turret the person in the nest had was smaller. Already Gavlan felt he would not be surprised if it was meant to be mounted on window sills, and light enough to use like a normal gun.
"One of the Vampires saw me." Gavlan reported to the other Hunters. "So now they have my face, and are now aware of our being in this building. From what I can tell, they might have a turret or some other form of automatic weaponry set up in one of the higher up windows."
"Sounds like a machine gun. Which definitively means we are probably messing with something important if the Vampires are willing to throw caution to the wind and go loud in the middle of a city." Maurice said, when his phone beeped at the same as Philips.
"The others are here, and they are in position to rush the nest. Unfortunately, with that machine gun up there, the Vamps will just mow down the entire Cell in seconds if we are run at them."
"Well then, it just so happens I have the second vial of Blue Elixir on me. If someone is willing to distract their look out, I can try to sneak into the nest while they're not focused on me." Velia explained, presenting the second bottle in her hand.
"I have an Edge that do that without the Blue Elixer. Won't guarantee that it activate or the Vampires won't have an ability to see through it. So you can save it for later." Maurice added.
"And with a well-placed shot, one of the Marines can take the machine gunner out of the picture when we storm the nest. We'll still need to break into the doorway." Maurice commented. Velia smiled at that, as she pulled out a small, brackish eye which had a swirling cloud in it from her coat. Gavlan immediately recognized it as a Blacksky Eye.
"I got something for that as well." the Celestial Choir hunter replied.
"...Why do you have an eyeball in your pocket?" Philip asked
**Mercurio**
"Alright, everyone is in position?" Mercurio asked, holding a radio to his face. He was currently armored in the same Kevlar/ceramic plating that the other Ghouls were given, including a faceplate that currently hid his expression. Clutching the flamethrower tightly in his hands, Mercurio was positioned next to the right of the door to Strauss' Chantry, while Gimble was behind him with a shotgun and looking into the street from the window next to them.
"We're set. Just call it in when the Hunters appear and we will flank them." a mans' voice replied from the radio. Across the two Ghouls in the Chantry Damsel and Skelter were at another window watching the street as well. Vandal was in the attic with the machine gun set up, and had place a number of traps throughout the Chantry. Gimble fumbled with his gun for a bit, clearly wishing he could run up to the Hunters when they appear and hack them apart. Mercurio grabbed a pack of Vitae from one of the two crates placed next to the Ghouls and their temporary Anarch allies and took a drink from it.
He then activated his Aura reading ability, in case the Hunters tried to sneak past him, and had the flamethrower out and ready to fire on any who got close. While in any other building it would be a bad idea to use such a weapon, the Tremere Primogen had wards placed on the Chantry to prevent the interior from catching fire, a useful trait in the event someone tried to kill him by burning his haven down, including the various tapestries on the wall. Of course, that means little for the Vampires that he is going to be around with said flamethrower, given how they react to fire in general.
"When are these jackasses gonna pop their heads out? Vandal claimed that one of them looked at him from across the street." Skelter muttered to himself, as the man aimed an M15 down the street. As they waited for the Hunters to appear, Mercurio noticed that the Skyeline Apartments opened up. As a group of people began walking out of the building, the radio crackled to life and then Vandal could be heard speaking from the other end.
"That's them. The guy that I saw is among them." Mercurio held up the radio to his mouth as the Anarchs and Gimble looked at him.
"You sure?"
"Positive as a rat with fleas." Mercurio frowned at the metaphor, but watched the group as they walked down the street to the Chantry. When they split into two groups, Mercurio brought the radio up.
"Cleaver has spotted the Hunters, and they're preparing to rush in. Prepare to flank them on my command." Mercurio said. As the Hunters started to cross the street, one of them stopped and held an object up between several fingers just before they got to the point where they could be trapped in the open. When the Ghoul in question cursed and began running loudly enough to be heard through the ceiling above Mercurio, it was followed by the area around the Hunter turning into what looked like an aura in the shape of a night sky, and Mercurio cringed at the sight. A blue object shot out, and streaked out at the Chantry, and the resulting explosion shook the building. The Ghouls and Vampires ducked down as a first volley of gunfire raked the area while they were caught by surprise from the sudden attack.

"Fuck! Was that magic?!" Damsel yelled out, as Smiling Jack and Nines ran up to the front door. Mercurio picked up the radio, having dropped it in shock.
"Get the fuck over here now! The Hunters have some sort of magic bullshit that they just pulled out of nowhere, and jumped us with it."
"What just happened?"Nines asked, ignoring the bullets that bounced off his body. Smiling Jack also apparently turned up his Fortitude abilities so the bullets the Hunters unleashed did little damage to the two. As the Hunters got to cover, Nines and Jack returned fire with a pair of 9mm and a revolver respectively. Mercurio, upon closer look also realized that the three Hunters who fought off the Sabbat at the highway motel were among their number.
"A Magic Missile-casting motherfucker is what happened!" Damsel cried out, then propped her head up to aim a hunting rifle she brought with her. After taking a few seconds to aim it, she pulled the trigger, and received a cry of pain.
"That one?" Nines asked.
"Yeah that's the one!" Skelter responded, as he shot a quick burst into the area. Mercurios' radio crackled, then one of the Ghouls that were set up to flank the Hunters as they took positions behind the fence and car in front of the Chantry could be heard yelling into it along with more gunfire in the background.
"The Hunters knew where we are, and have got us pinned down! You're on your own!" the man on the other end replied, then the radio crackled and turned off
"God damn it! Can't you Capes get anything right?!" Nines cried out, as he fired off one of his pistols at a Hunter that jumped back into cover. When Mercurio sighted and recognized the one that raised its arm towards the Chantry once more, he pointed at them.
"Stanley shoot that one!" the Ghoul shouted, to which Gimble responded by raising his gun and shooting the Hunter in the chest. Accompanying this the Vampires concentrated on shooting her, and she got back down to avoid the bullets raking across her body. While the other Hunters returned fire, Mercurio grunted as he was hit, though the armor took the shots well enough. In retaliation, one of the Hunters aimed what Mercurio recognized as a grenade launcher, which made Jack shout.
"Incoming!" he shouted as the Hunter fired it, as the small explosive broke through a window and landed next to the Anarchs. However, instead of it being an explosive, the grenade burst in a flash of light and noise. Mercurio, due to his getting behind a staircase in time to avoid the worse of along with Stanley, ran back to his spot and saw that the Hunters were running for the Chantry. They were significantly slowed down, avoiding the traps that were place.
It was then that the rapid ratatat of a machine gun could be heard, forcing the Hunters to duck as Vandal shot at their position, with several falling over and screaming as they were hit. One of them pulled out what looked to be a doubled-barreled handgun, and it let out a louder barking sound that was followed by Vandals' machine gun ceasing its barrage of gunfire.
Acting quickly, Mercurio proceeded to point his flamethrower out and sprayed the yard, causing the Hunters to finally fall back. As they did, the machine gun fire from Vandal continued, along with the Vampires recovering from the sudden flash bang that was used on them. However, it was then that several Hunters threw themselves into the flames, and more of them appeared, lending aide to the ones attacking the Chantry.
"What the fuck?" Nines muttered, as Vandal ran down the steps. It could also be seen that the Hunters that were at the motel raid also seem confused as well, though the others continued shooting at the Chantry like nothing happened.
"Incoming!" Vandal cried out, when the Hunters who ran into the flames got back up and began running towards the Chantry.
"Get away from the windows!" Skelter cried out, as the Hunters threw themselves against the windows, crashing through them and sending glass shards flying at the Vampires and Ghouls. Due to the Vampires having an instinctual fear of fire, the Anarchs instantly fell to Rotschreck and fell back deeper within the Chantry as the Hunters ran at them, their limbs and bodies glowing red with some form of energy. As they landed, the Hunter who was closest to the Ghouls knocked over the crate of blood bags next to them.
"What the hell?!" Gimble cried out, and back as the one nearest to him and Mercurio charged them. Mercurio, in an attempt to fight them off turned his flamethrower on them, and sprayed the Hunter with a short burst from it. When the burning fuel of the flamethrower splattered onto the Hunter, they backed up and recoiled.
Even so, it was clear he backed up only from the impact of the flamethrowers' fuel, and as the clothes burned away from the man, his body was left unharmed. Mercurio could only cry out in pain as the Hunter then ran up and punched him in the chest with his arm, and screamed as it smashed through his ribs and the fires he was wreathed in began to burn the Ghouls' flesh within and without. The sound of Vandals' machine gun could be heard as the Slasher was focused on the other two Hunters, and one of them fell over from the hail of bullets. The other managed to escape by running deeper into the Chantry, as the smell of burning flesh emitted from the now dead Hunter.
"Gimble, get this fucker off of me!" Mercurio shrieked, punching the Hunter in his enraged face, and getting it covered by several more drops of the flamethrower fuel all over his face and hand. Stanley, compelled by Mercurio charged with a scream and slashed at the Hunters' arm. The Hunter grunted as his limb was cut, and backed up to avoid the Slasher swinging at him a second time. Vandal turned his machine gun on the Hunter, who threw a knife that buried itself into his shoulder and made Cleaver flinch.
It was then one of the other Hunters kicked the door down, this one the plague doctor Hunter, who upon sighting Vandal charged him. The Ghoul tried to point his machine gun at him, but the Hunter was faster and tackled him. As the woman fell on top of him, the other female Hunter appeared at the window, rearing her arm back. Mercurio, as he and Stanley backed away sprayed a burst from the Flamethrower, causing the Hunter to roll away as the liquid fuel went out the window.
"We're going to to go deeper into the Chantry! Follow me!" Mercurio shouted.
"What about Cleaver?" Gimble asked, as the two ran away.
"He's owned by a Malk. He'll be fine." Upon Mercurio saying this, a woman could be heard screaming, followed by a burst from Cleavers' machine gun. As he ran back up the stairs, the other two ran off on a separate path.
"Damn, what did that Ghoul hit Eileen with?" Mercurio heard, as he pulled out his handgun and shot it down the hall to keep the Hunters from seeing what path they ran down. Thankfully the magical nature of Strauss' Chantry should hinder the Hunters long enough for the Camarilla Elders to get involved, as they have managed to breach it sooner then was anticipated.

**Gavlan**
"I'm going after that one!" Gavlan shouted, as he ran up the stairs after the Ghoul that shot Eileen. As he did Eileen recovered from her injuries, discarding more of her empty Blood Vials in the process and Kayla called out to him.
"Watch your ass! There's no telling what in the actual hell these bastards have done to dig in!" she shouted. As Gavlan got near the top, he scanned the area around him with his Repeating Pistol. Upon seeing that the area was clear, he examined the layout for clues to where the Ghoul had run off. The area was clearly a second floor, with the same red rug and tapestry décor as the lower floor.
When he checked his Quicksilver Bullets, he saw he had around ten or so bullets left. It was then he heard a sound akin to whispering behind him. When the Executioner turned around, he saw that there was nothing there. However when he looked back and then took a step forward over the final step, a clicking sound followed a tug at his ankles.
"Wha..." Gavlan vocalized, and then saw two shapes similar that he recognized as grenades, and a broken trip wire at his feet. Without questioning how he didn't notice the wire the Executioner jumped down the stairs he just ran up.
"GRENADE!" he shouted as he landed back at the bottom. The other Hunters jumped back in a panic, and nothing happened for several seconds. Gavlan looked up at the stairs, and then saw the trap wasn't there at all. The Executioner got up off the ground, then turned back to the other Hunters, and then hid his face as he went back up to hide his embarrassment. He also could hear the other Hunters run deeper into the Vampire nest while he felt enraged at what had happened.
What in the name of Oedon was that? There was a trap right there! Gavlan thought as he saw that it was indeed gone. He realized something was off, then he saw a shadow shifting to his right from the periphery of his vision, and turned to see the Ghoul pointing their machine gun at him. With a curse, Gavlan dodge-rolled away from the hail of bullets the Ghoul shot at him, running down the hallway next to him. As he began running down the hall, a faint whispering could be heard in his head. However, this was a much clearer voice, one that had a clearly faraway origin, yet was also nearby.
With the blood of the Formless in his veins, a Zealot shall remember his sins of slaughter and devilry. A faint crunching sound behind made Gavlan turn around and saw that the hallway disappeared, and he saw a half-turned Beast. However, instead of it being a Vampire, it was one of the Beasts that were spawned from the use of the Old Blood in Yharnam, and it was currently digging out the marrow in the bones of a skeleton just barely wrapped up in the flesh and muscle of a random citizen.
"What in the name of the Moon is going on?" Gavlan thought to himself, and the Beast stopped. When it stood up, Gavlan raised his Ax, then paused as he saw the dead civilian was in fact one of the men he slaughtered in Castle Cainhurst. Then the Imposter Beast turned around, and Gavlan was shocked out of his normal stoic expression.
BGM: Blood Starved Beast from Bloodborne
The Impostor Beast had his face, and when it screeched in a combination of a howl and a scream in his voice, Gavlan backed up. However, when it charged him, Gavlan growled as he regained his composure and side-stepped the leap it made and raised the Hunters Ax. When the Beast version of him turned around, Gavlan brought down the ax on its skull. Or he would have, but the Beast-Gavlan revealed a Repeating pistol made of bone and flesh combined with the Yharnamite steel used to make a normal version which was fused to its hand.
Before Gavlan could react and process it, it shot him in the shoulder with it and when it tackled him, he blocked the Beast from tearing out his neck with his arm. A painful jolt of pain made him grunt as he felt it pull back to dodge his punch.
"Hey asshole!" Gavlan turned around and saw the Ghoul he chased pointing their machine gun at him. "Tell your squid friend upstairs Cleaver sent ya running back!"
Gavlan pointed his Repeating Pistol at him, but when it failed to fire he looked at it and saw the Pistol had already been fired. 'Cleaver' as he introduced himself then fired back at Gavlan, ignoring the Beast version of him as it jumped back to avoid being shot. The Executioner himself was racked by a row of gunshots catching his torso, but then the machine gun ran dry. The two men looked at the gun, then with a snarl Gavlan got up and proceeded to run at the Ghoul, putting away his Repeating Pistol for the moment as he grabbed the Hunters Ax in two hands. As Cleaver ran, Gavlan could hear the Beast behind him, but ignored it for the more dangerous of the two.
How they were aware of Cainhurst, he did not know, but he knew damn well that whoever these Vampires were, they must be purged. As he thought this, he felt the Beast behind him try to grab at his coat, to which he responded by turning around and striking them with his fist. Spinning around while the creature was dazed, he could see the Ghoul had dropped the empty box of ammo and was trying to fit another one while he was across the room before Gavlan reached him.
Upon realizing with a look of terror that he was about to be attacked, Cleaver dropped the machine gun and then pulled a tapestry off the wall and covered himself with it. When Gavlan grabbed it and pulled it off of Cleaver he saw that the man was gone. Before he could figure out what had happened he heard another scream and turned to see the Beast version of himself leap at him. Gavlan then caught the beastly impostor by the wrist and swung it into the wall, screaming with rage as he did so. When it tried to shoot him with its Repeating Pistol hand, Gavlan immediately snatched and slapped the twin barrels to the ceiling. The Executioner then snapped the Beasts' pistol hand, making a loud crack sound as it was also crushed in his fist. Blood and Quicksilver were mixed together as he punched the Impostor Beast, each blow hitting with enough force to shatter a normal mans' skull.
When the Imposter grabbed his hand, it then let out a screech, and a gale like wind blasted him away from it. Getting up with a grunt, Gavlan just barely had enough time to see the creature swing at him, claws bared and poised to tear his flesh. With a swift uppercut, the Executioner simultaneously slapped away the clawed hand and struck the Beastly Imposter in the jaw, sending the creature flying through the air. It then struck the wall with a crack, and fell onto the ground. With it twitching, Gavlan proceeded to jump onto it, and snapped its neck. After doing so, the creature fell still, and stopped moving.
BGM ends
As he began to pant, it was then he reached for one of his blood vials, only to realize they were missing. As he looked around for them, he also noticed his Hunters Ax was dropped, and he was short four Quicksilver Bullets.
"Looking for these?" a voice belonging to a woman said behind him. When he turned around, he saw a female Vampire holding onto his Hunters Ax next to Cleaver who himself was holding onto a satchel, which was filled with the lost Blood Vials. Then he looked back to where the Beast with his visage was, but it was not there. The woman spoke as she examined the blade and shaft of the Hunters Ax. She was dressed in an unladylike manner, with a skirt that just barely went down halfway her thighs, and a shirt that exposed her midriff and was wrapped to show her cleavage.
"Now before you try anything hasty, I'm aware that this stuff here is a very bad idea to take. Drugs are bad, especially if taken while still hallucinating. It tends to end just as badly as a toddler running unattended with a knife." she said with a sultry tone, brushing one of the twin tails of blonde hair she had on either side of her head. Gavlan curled his hands, then reached into one of his pockets. The Executioner then replied to her warning.
"What exactly do you mean? Are you the leader of the rabble that ran off defending this nest mayhaps?" the woman then started laughing, and as she did he could hear the laughter of a great many disembodied voices that he felt emanate from the Vampire. He realized that this particular Vampire was nothing like the others he encountered so far. However when she spoke again, the mirth in her voice was replaced by one that was serious in tone.
"No, I was nothing more then a... unwelcome and minor co-worker whose fingers are in the pie that is their interest in this city at best. There was a plan I had to keep the owner of this 'nest' as you refer and his friends from going full over board in hunting down my friends who didn't even want to be here to begin with, but after this little stunt you and your fellow Hunters have pulled, they are no doubt going to use this as an excuse to drive them out of Los Angeles."
"That is not my problem." Gavlan countered.
"It is if the particular group of Vampires responsible for the plague outbreak is left unchecked during the infighting, not to mention the fact said infighting will involve the people here getting caught in the crossfire." the woman commented. Gavlan held his tongue as she smiled. Cleaver simply stared ahead, clearly waiting for orders from the Vampire, though his posture suggested being unhappy to be her servitor.
"You know about the plague being what brought us here?"
"Two plus two equals Masquerade Violation fish face, so yes sugar pie honey bunch." the woman replied, her voice suddenly taking on a deep and monotonous tone,
"What?" Gavlan and Cleaver both asked at once.
"Nothing." the woman said in her more normal voice, as something let out a disembodied cackle, causing Gavlan to look around. "Ignore him, he's just being a dick like usual."
"...Moving on." Gavlan said, as a grumbling could be heard. As she spoke, he could hear similar voice to hers tell them to hush up.
"So I am willing to let you go, in exchange for a favor. Specifically, I want you to hunt down and kill one of the Vampires that have been responsible for the outbreak when you're driven out of this building. And before you ask, they're running around in the sewers." Gavlan stared at her incredulously.
"And what makes you think I'm willing to do that? Furthermore, I came here with the rest of us to kill you, and you're clearly giving information that the others would not like you to share. Do you think I am willing to trust you?"
"No, but then again, what can you do but hunt and kill for the Blood? Besides, if you die, nobody will be the wiser and if you kill the Vampire in question, that is one of the main infection vectors causing the plague to run through Los Angeles taken care of. Of course, the others will still be trying to kill you, but that is another problem for another day. Now then, Cleaver dear, would you mind given our golden cone his things back?"
The Ghoul made a face as he approached Gavlan, and handed the bag back. As Gavlan went through it to make sure nothing had been taken out of it, he found that there was in fact a folded sheet of paper. As he unfolded it, he saw that the paper was in fact a map, though it was hastily drawn with some form of colored wax and looked like it was done with the hands of a child, which made Gavlan look at the woman.
"Hey, I was not in the best state of mind and using crayons is calming. Do this for me, and I'll be ready to do anything for you as thanks." Cleaver rolled his eyes, when suddenly the woman Vampire that was his master perked up.
"On that note, what is your name?"
"...Gavlan. And where can I find you, along with your name?" the Vampire, as she replied to his question, walked up to him, trying to seduce him as she swiveled her hips with each step.
"Well Gavlan, whenever you end up coming back here to California to pay the town of Santa Monica a visit, go to a night club, the Asylum. There, my name is on everyones' lips, and dance to my tune. Once there, ask the bartender for my name; Jeanette."
"Alright then, can I have my ax back?" Jeanette then smiled as she spoke up once more.
"That reminds me, I should make sure to make it look convincing that this information was not given freely first before doing that. Just to make sure they don't get suspicious." with that, she grabbed the Hunters Ax with two hands and turned around to look at Cleaver. The Ghoul looked at the Ax, then back at the Vampire woman.
"...Damn it." Cleaver muttered. Before he could react, the Vampire rushed him, and then delivered several strikes to the Ghoul, who cried out and screamed with each chopping motion Jeanette made. After she was done, it was clear Cleaver was still alive, helped by the fact Jeanette struck him in areas that would not be instantaneous death. Gavlan was undisturbed by this, though he was surprised that the Ghoul survived the attack as the Vampire handed his Hunters Ax back to him.
"Is he going to live?"
"Oh yeah, a few drinks of my blood and my boy here will be back on his feet in no time." Jeanette said cheerfully, smiling widely while a snickering could be heard from her head. Gavlan nodded, and then turned and left the room they were in.
AN: Alright, so that's this chapter done. So for those more familiar with Bloodborne but don't know much about the World of Darkness game lines wondering about what had just happened, I'm going to explain a brief summary of what went down.
When the Imbued Marines zerg-rushed the Anarchs while on fire, beforehand they activated an Edge called Firewalk, which made their bodies, but not their clothing immune to fire. As a result, they were able to become untouchable, and just getting near the Anarchs caused them to freak out due to the fact Vampires are cursed by what they refer to as the Beast Within. As for the scene at the end with Gavlan and Jeanette, the TL:DR is that the Malkavains are the children of a Vampire named Malkav.
Malkavs' thing is that he was one of the first Vampires that walked the earth, and ended up learning everything there is about the universe there was to know, including all the lovecraftian parts of it. He then went absolutely mad from said knowledge, which came with the ability to see the future and knowing everyones' deepest darkest secrets even if he never met them before. Not only that, but whenever Malkav sired a new Vampire with his blood, they inherit said insanity and knowledge, hence why they are somewhat aware of the fact Gavlan and his fellow Hunters from Bloodborne do not belong. One of the main weaknesses of the Malkavain Clan is that while they have said knowledge, it only comes in small bits and pieces that they often have no context for. Think of having an answer sheet to a test, but then learning the answers do not line with the questions. That is how their insight and future-vision works in a nutshell and why Jeanette was able to play Gavlan like a fiddle.
The Malkavains are also one of the Clans that is more or less allowed to do whatever they please, as Malkav also upon going insane learned to used what is known as Dementation. To get an idea of how Dementation works, it's essentially a set of mind-control powers centered around actively tearing down the sanity of the people it is used on, hence why Eileen suddenly had a meltdown from Vandal attacking her with it. That, and they also happen to be mentally connected to each other to the point that they can communicate to each other telepathically, so treating one of them like shit will typically result in the Clan as a whole hating you for all eternity and coming after you like a bunch of angry monkeys on crack that learned how to wield firearms. So you can guess how terrifying it can be for those that end up earning their ire.
With that out of the way, all who read this feel free to ask a question about either Bloodborne or the World of Darkness setting, and I'll answer it as best as I can either with a PM, or in my next Authors Note.
