Shad Pov
Once my surroundings stabilized I looked around and noticed I had been in a place far different from where I was before. Yes this was the fusion dimension, Raizen's memories helped confirm that.
So the trip was successful.
"Follow me" Yuri said
I turned to the owner of the voice who had already begun walking.
I followed after him.
This was going to be problematic. I'm guessing the professors will be making me into one of his pawns to help revive his daughter. I hate the idea of having to take orders from others so I truly hope we can come to a compromise.
I had my own goals and in order to fulfill them I needed a lot of duel energy in order to get back to my full strength. The upcoming tournament in the synchro dimension would be a good place for that.
Either way it looks like I need to prepare for a confrontation.
We ascended the castle and stopped in front of a large door which quickly opened letting us in. Once inside I continued to follow Yuri as I took note of the gazes directed towards us by the academia students.
I could sense their fear from Yuri's appearance along with some curious looks directed at me. Their curiosity is understandable seeing that a loner like yuri has someone tagging along.
As we continued onwards we stopped in front of a door and waited.
A few minutes passed and the door finally opened. Yuri stepped inside and so I followed his lead and stopped beside him.
Other than the two of us the room consisted of Leo, Sora and some obelisk force members.
"Yuri you have returned, and I see you were successful in one of the missions I had given you" Leo said to Yuri
"Yes I had almost managed to get to retrieve Ruri but I was interrupted by Reiji Akaba" Yuri replied
"I see my son is still try to rebel against me, no worries in time we will take care of him"
He then turned to me
"You may be wondering why I've called you here duel spirit-"
"Call me Shad. Also I think I may have an idea since I have access to all of Raizen's memories, I'm aware of the connection between the two of you" I said as I interrupted him
"So you know. Then are you aware of what I'm going to ask you to do"
"You want me to hunt down the girls who share the same face as 'her' don't you" I said cryptically
He nodded as he caught onto the meaning of my words.
"Raizen has been a thorn at my side for a while now I want to make sure that he's been accurately dealt with" he said as he looked to me for a response
"His consciousness is weak, too weak to wrestle control over his body back from how about we move on to what you spoke of before" I said
"Yes I need you to get 'her' counterparts back before things get disastrous" he said
"And if I refuse?" I asked
"I expected you to have some issues regarding that. If you're not willing to do that then I'm sorry to say that you'll have to be confined to Academia, since I'd rather not have you run rogue and interfere with my goal" he said
When he finished speaking, the obelisk force members along with Sora and Yuri surrounded me.
'You don't play fair professor?'
We stared at each for a while before I spoke.
"You leave me no choice, I'm willing to help you with your goal provided it's not my primary objective"
"And why should I allow that?"
"Because I have information regarding Reiji and things in Raizen's memories that you'd be very interested to know. For example, Reiji is going to be heading with his team of duelists to the synchro dimension."
"That is pretty interesting to know but is that all you've got" he replied a smile on his face
"Not quite, I also am certain that a certain Roget is going to defect from duel academy so you should prepare to invade the synchro dimension pretty soon" I said
Leo looked stoic for a moment.
"That's a pretty bizarre claim you've thrown out there"
"But one that is true. When the time comes I'm sure you'll see it with your own eyes. How about we make a bet? If what I say takes place then grant me autonomy to move as I see fit and if what I claimed doesn't take place then well I'll leave my fate up to you" I said
Leo pondered for a minute or two before he finally answered.
"Fine if what you say is true I'll give you free reign maybe even more depending on your performance, for now though head to the synchro dimension these three Obelisk force members will be accompanying you. Your task will be to find this information of Roget's defection and if you do I'd expect you to take care of him" he said
"Sure I'll be heading out then, see you later Yuri, Sora" I said before walking out followed by the obelisk force members
After making it out of the room I decided to check out the academy a bit, maybe see if I could discover some of its secrets. I told the obelisk force present with me to be on standby while I prepared to head to a place Raizen was pretty well acquainted with, the doktor's lab.
"What do we have here? The duel spirit has come to pay me a visit I see" the doktor said as he appeared towards me.
"And I'm assuming you know why I'm here. I'll be heading to the synchro dimension on the orders of the professor, so I'd appreciate it if you can lend me the cards you had taken from Raizen when he was holed up in here" I said
"So you did know about that" he said as he contemplated things for a moment
"Sure it's not like these cards are of any use to me. Since Raizen's been dealt with I see no more reason to hold onto them"
He stepped away for a few minutes eventually returning with the cards that I needed.
"Thanks-"
"Just a thanks won't suffice you know" he said interrupting me
I sighed
"Then what would you like me to do?"
"I haven't really had the chance to experiment on a duel spirit yet so when you're done with your mission from the professor do visit the lab again and maybe then I'll give you this monster" he said as he held a familiar xyz monster in his hand
"Fine I'll be back" I said with slight annoyance before leaving
I would be back for that card and then teach this guy the dangers of making deals with duel spirits.
"Glad we could come to an agreement" he said with a creepy smile
I didn't wait a second longer and was already out by the time he finished talking.
I returned back to the obelisk force members who seemed to be eager for my arrival.
"Are we ready to head out Sir Shad?" One of them who I presumed to be the leader asked
'Sir Shad huh? Not too bad'
"Yeah we are, I'm done with all my preparations. Do remember we're going to first observe I don't want you guys getting into fights and making Roget prematurely aware that we're onto him" I said
"Understood sir. Anything else before we leave?" he asked
"No nothing el- Wait a minute" I thought as I stared at the three of them
"What is it sir?" he asked
"You three aren't going to be coming in those clothes are you?" I asked surprised
"Of course this is our military uniform" he replied
"I get that but this isn't a full fledged military operation. This is a stealth operation so we need to be sure not to reveal our identities. Roget knows how the obelisk force look and if any of his underlings find us we're done for" I said
"But Sir-"
"There's no room for negotiations. I'm sure you three have some casual clothes you can change into, so go on and get ready" I said cutting him off
He stared at me for a moment then sighed.
"We'll be back in a few minutes" he said
So I passed time by trying to speak with the other duel academy students around which didn't go very well as they seemed to prefer to just avoid me.
Until I eventually met up with a familiar face.
"Dennis Mcfield" I called out to him
"Raizen? No wait it can't be" he said as he came up to me
"Shad actually. I took over Raizen's body. I have his memories. It's a long story. So why are you back here at academia? I would've assumed you'd have tried to infiltrate the lancers" I asked
He seemed bewildered by my answer but he tried not to show it.
"I couldn't since Ruri has been hanging around with them she would recognize me from the time that I fought you- I mean Raizen back in the xyz dimension. I have no idea how he found out I was part of academia. You have his memories, right? Do you know how he came to know of my allegiance with the professor?" he asked
"I could tell you but you probably wouldn't believe me. Thanks for the chat but I have something I need to take care of" I said pointing to my incoming men
"Sure I have some tasks that I need to take care of too,talk to you later" he said then walked away joining the sea of students
The three of them had returned in casual clothes and their masks removed.
"Is this good enough?" The obelisk force leader asked
"Pretty good. Hope you guys have another deck other than just ancient gears since those monsters are another giveaway" I said
"Yeah we have our own personal decks which we could use. Is that all?" he asked seemingly exhausted
"Yeah. It's time we head on out to scout up ahead for when our targets will arrive" I said as I activated my trap card Shaddoll core
Numerous skulls began to spin around the four of us teleporting us out of the fusion dimension.
Ruri Pov
It had been a few days since we last saw Raizen who had now become Shad. In that time Akaba Reiji had begun gathering people to join his Lancers, a group that was made to retaliate against invaders of the standard dimension.
I had made my decision clear that I would be joining which Reiji had accepted.
So I spent the rest of my days preparing for the eventual battle and visiting Shun and Yuto.
My body felt chilly as I entered the room the two of them were admitted in due to the AC's temperature being set pretty low.
The two of them had been unconscious since the battle with Shad after taking real damage from the attacks.
Luckily the doctor said they should completely recover in a week or two as long as they get the proper rest.
I first went to Yuto and placed my hand over his palm. His pulse was noticeable which calmed the uneasy feeling in my chest.
I stared at his face for a few seconds before getting up and then moving to my brother's side and did the same, allowing the uneasy feeling to almost entirely disappear.
The door opened behind me and a face I had seen numerous times had stepped in.
"Hope I'm not disturbing you" Serena said as she walked over to where Shun was laying down
"No it's fine I was just checking on them to see if anything has changed, sadly they're still asleep"-I turned to her- "so did you need something?" I asked
"Yes. Reiji told me to inform you that the Lancers have been called to meet up" she said her expression serious
"Understood just give me a second and I'll be outside" I said
"I'll be by the reception desk" she said and left the room
I looked towards Yuto and Shun and spoke
"I know you two wouldn't want me to do this but I'm going to be getting Raizen back and defeat whatever took over his body"
After giving my proclamation I left their room and met with Serena who guided me to the room where the meeting would take place..
Reiji was typing something on his computer but stopped as soon as I entered.
The room had a number of armchairs and a big monitor in the front where Reiji had been sitting along with his computer.
"Now that we've all arrived I will begin, Serena and Ruri please take a seat" he said
We took the frontmost seats as I quickly took a look at all of the people present.
There was Yuya, a person who looked like Yuto along with Yuzu, a person who looked like me. Then the two people who Raizen had fought in the tournament, Natsume and Isao. Gong, one of Yuya's friends and Tsukikage, a ninja.
Finally the last two people were Reiji's younger brother Reira and the other was I think Sawatari? I'm not completely sure but I think that was his name.
"Now I'm sure we all want to head out to the fusion dimension to take out the root of evil my father and bring Raizen back but things won't be that easy. Serena please explain" Reiji said as he looked at Serena who was beside me
"The fusion dimension has most of its surroundings fortified making it difficult to enter and if that wasn't enough of a problem they have a school full of students to slow us down. I don't believe any of us here is capable of dealing with 200 students even if they might not be strong enough to be a challenge individually " Serena replied
"So then are we just going to be waiting around and doing nothing?" Yuya asked
"Calm down Yuya. To bolster our forces we're going to be heading out to the synchro dimension. We'll likely find allies there who will be able to help us wage war against the professor" Reiji continued
"I hope you all are ready since after this meeting ends I'll be giving each of you a modified duel disk which should allow us to travel to the synchro dimension and it will create an action field. Pendulum summoning and action dueling are our greatest strengths so make sure to use these duel disks to their utmost potential. That's all I had to say, this meeting is now adjourned " Reiji said and began to distribute the duel disks
We activated our duel disks and activated the card Reiji had given us when Reiji gave the signal causing each of us to glow and eventually warp away.
AN: Mostly a setup chapter to prepare for the upcoming duels. Things should get more interesting going forward.
