A duet of revenge Part 2
The duel between Ruri and I was heading towards the conclusion that I had hoped for. With her lyrilusc cards low attack I didn't have much to fear and with the field almost swarmed with my Shaddoll I had this duel decided in my favor.
"Why are you doing this Shad?" Ruri asked her rage still present but she seemed to be maintaining her composure
"Why am I doing what?" I replied with a question
"Why are you allying with academia? You said you were a duel spirit right, then why choose to make yourself a pawn of the fusion dimension" she asked
"I'm not a pawn even though it may seem like it at the moment. While I don't really care for Akaba Leo's goals allying with him for the time being does help me with my own goals"
"And what are these goals of yours? Is it something that we lancers could have helped with?" she asked seemingly hoping that we could find some common ground
But I wasn't the type of duel spirit she thought of.
"My goals are closer to that of academia's than that of your group's since they involve destruction similar to what had plagued your little home dimension. Once I've returned to full power I'll be sure to demonstrate what my goals are" I said as a wicked smile graced my lips
She exhaled a deep breath.
"I thought that maybe you had been a more tragic duel spirit seeking vengeance to those that wronged you or something similar to that but"-her tone picked up- " you're just another tyrant looking for his chance at world domination,if so I won't feel any guilt towards eliminating you" she said as she stared straight at me
"That was a great speech Ruri but I hope that words are not all you have. Though I believe we've spent enough time talking. Battle phase! El Shaddoll Shekhinaga attacks your attack position Recital Starling, Blending Nightmare!"
Her Recital Starling was surrounded by threads as Shekhinaga appeared above Recital Starling, then the threads began spinning at high velocities cutting through Recital Starling.
Recital starling was destroyed.
Ruri 4000→1400 LP
Ruri screamed in pain as she was pushed back by the ensuing damage but she managed to hold her balance although wobbly and stand up straight.
"With that I've done all that I could, I end my turn"
"My turn , I draw!"
Turn 7-Ruri (1400LP) Hand-4
Ruri stared at her hand for a while in shock.
"I set one card and I end my turn" she said
"So that's all you're going to do after all that you've just said, well fine I guess I'll take my turn draw"
Turn 8-Shad (4800LP) Hand-5
"It's time, I believe I have all the cards necessary to end this duel. I'll begin by flipping up my shaddoll falco"
A tiny falcon draped in shadows cried out as it was summoned.

"And now I activate its effect. When it's flip summoned I get to special summon any shaddoll monster from my grave though they're special summoned face down, say hello to a familiar face, return to the field El Shaddoll Construct"
"Seems like I'll be surviving for another turn" Ruri said in a calm tone
"It's true that I can't flip over a face down monster the same turn it was set, well not without some kind of help. I activate the spell card-Book of Taiyou. It's effect allows me to flip one face down monster on the field to face up attack position and I of course target Construct "
Rays of light shone over my face down Construct as they began getting brighter and brighter until they finally disappeared leaving my monster face up.

"And when Construct is summoned I get to send a shaddoll from my deck to the grave. I send Shaddoll Hedgehog. Hedgehog's effect allows me to add a Shaddoll from my deck to my hand, I add Nehshaddol Genius"
"And now let's head onto the battle phase and get this duel over with. El Shaddoll Construct destroy Recital Starling"
Construct sent out its cast number of threads towards the opposing xyz monster.
"I won't be losing Shad, I activate the trap card-Negate attack. When a monster of yours declares an attack I get to negate it and then end the battle phase"
A spiral of light shields her monster from my Construct's threads.
"So you've bought yourself another turn, Ruri, you're just postponing your inevitable defeat but sure struggle to the end if that makes your upcoming loss sting less. I end my turn"
"I haven't given up yet Shad and I'll prove that, I draw!"
Turn 9- Ruri (1400LP) Hand-4
"Finally I've drawn it, Shad this is the end, for all the pain you've caused us I'll be paying you back"
"So you've drawn something good, let's see how you manage to turn this around. More so I implore you to try and fail once again" I said
"I won't be failing this time. I activate from my hand the spell card- Lyrilusc Bird Strike"
"And what does this card do? Something good I hope for your sake"
"It does. It allows me to negate all your face up monster's effects as long as I control a Lyrilusc monster. As you see I control a lyrilusc monster my recital starling so all of your monsters effects are negated"
Sound waves struck at my monsters leaving them confused.
"But that's just the beginning. I now activate the effect of my Lyrilusc Beryl Canary. I target Lyrilusc Cobalt Sparrow in my grave and special summon it and Canary"
Her two monsters arrived onto the field.

"Cobalt Sparrow's effect allows me to add another Cobalt Sparrow to my hand from my deck, so I'll be doing that" she said as she as she added the card and shuffled her deck
"Now I activate the effect of Sapphire Swallow in my hand. Its effect allows me to special summon both it and a level 1 lyrilusc monster. So I special summon both it and the Cobalt Sparrow I just added"

"So are you putting up a wall trying to buy time? Or is this the preparation for my defeat?" I asked with a slight grin
I was enjoying this duel and if she wanted to try and keep it going I had no problem, it would eventually come to an end after all.
"I'm not running away. Once I decided to duel you I had already made my mind to face things head on. You're not getting away this time Shad" she said as she looked at me with pure confidence
I looked perfectly calm but internally that sudden confidence began to irk me. I had wasted enough time I needed to end this duel soon.
"Sure we'll see about that. I'm guessing you have a new xyz monster you'd like to bring out, then go on and summon it" I said waiting for the eventual end
I was confident she wouldn't be able to take me out in a single turn. None of those lyrilusc seemed to be capable of that.
"I'm not bringing out an xyz monster, instead I'll be bringing out something much harder to deal with. I send my Lyrilusc Beryl Canary, Cobalt Sparrow, Sapphire Swallow and Cobalt Sparrow to the grave"
The surrounding area began to get darker as I began to feel an unknown pressure settle over our surroundings.
'What kind of monster is she planning on bringing out'
As the pressure began to intensify a huge monster began to materialize crashing through the roof of the common's factory.
I dashed back on instinct as the parts of the collapsed roof began to fall but noticed I was already safe as my Shaddoll shielded me from the approaching rubble. I looked towards Yuzu who was supposedly vulnerable but she had been protected by Ruri's Recital Starling.
"Materialize from the depths of despair. The manifestation of our desperation to live. Appear Lvl 12 Dystopia the Despondent"

The monster finally materialized but the air still had the same murky feeling. It was a strange feeling. A giant fiend with blue and black colouration stood before me, its glowing red eyes staring right at me.
"So you had a monster like this in your deck. I don't remember this from Raizen's memories so you likely must have acquired it after he left. You did a good job hiding it" I said
This is going to hurt, having all my monsters in attack position wasn't the right choice, especially my falco. I should be able to survive another turn at least.
"I did and I'm sure you won't be forgetting this monster Shad, since it will be the one to end this duel. Battle Phase! Dystopia the despondent attack Shaddol Falco"
Dystopia pulled it's hand back as it readied a punch aiming at my falco. The attack connected crushing my bird into pieces as I felt the force of the punch as it launched me against a wall.

"Haah Haah" I gasped as I tried to catch my breath
"Not too bad though you do realize that you're hurting Raizen's body too with those strong attacks"
"I understand but if that's what's necessary to take you out I'll be sure to follow through, Raizen would agree with me" she said
"He really would, though if he wouldn't have let his emotions cloud him back then all of you would be living a peaceful life right now. So I'm sure he would be ready to martyr himself" I said
"Back then? What are you talking about? Is this your way of trying to make me doubt Raizen because that's never going to work" she said
"I'm just letting you know the truth but if you don't want to believe me that's fine. Let's get to finishing this duel" I said
"Fine I end my turn" she said
"Let's get this duel over with, I draw!" I said
Turn 10- Shad(400LP) Hand-6
I looked at the card I drew, Purushaddoll Aeon.
'Well I was looking for something to help take care of that Recital Starling's effect, I'd hate for this duel to end up in a draw. Guess I have nothing to worry about'
"You should have destroyed my El Shaddoll Construct when it was unaffected during your turn and that's going to cost you Ruri. Even with your 5000 attack monster it's not going to matter when it's destroyed"
"So let's move to the battle phase! Construct get rid of that unsightly thing" I said pointing towards Dystopia
Construct's threads headed towards Dystopia.
"By declaring to attack you've already decided your defeat Shad. During the battle step I activate Dystopia the Despondent's effect, by banishing one level 1 monster I get to make it unaffected by card effects and unable to be destroyed from battle"
"No that means-"
"Yes your effect to destroy my monster fails since it is unaffected and that leads to our two monsters battling it out normally and you already know the result of that" Ruri said interrupting me
The incoming threads stopped before Dystopia who levitated over to El Shaddoll Construct. Its eyes glowed bright red as energy gathered around its fist. Construct tried to escape but before it could move the punch tore through her chest shattering her into pieces.
The resultant force from Dystopia's punch made me scream in pain before I lost consciousness.
