A/N: The picture I have in use is from dA by an artist lychi and the picture's name is just simply Zelda.

Also, another note: I do NOT own the characters or places unless said otherwise. Nintendo has the rights. =P Honestly speaking, all I have is the idea for the story, few monsters, creatures and bit of changing the places. Oh, and couple of OCs here and there. ^^; I'm certain everyone can figure out which belongs to me and which doesn't. =)

SITUATIONS FROM THEIR LIVES

CHAPTER 18: Easter 2017

"And the beautiful bunny hopped from house to house while hiding the colorful eggs. Her friend, a black cat, did her own part of the job during each night for bit over a week. Each of the eggs they hid had chocolate coating and a small surprise in there."

The kid's violet eyes were staring at his father with full excitement. There was a small scene going on between him and his did. In it there was a real looking rabbit with a cute ribbon and a basket. The bunny was going here and there while taking a brightly colored egg from the basket and hiding it into a yard of a house before going to the next house.

As his father talked about the black cat, the scenery changed into another yard. There was a black kitty whom carried an old looking pot which was used either to make coffee or tea. The cat was carrying it in its tail and whenever the kitty found a good spot, she placed the item down, took the lid off and carefully took out a colorful egg which it then hid before going forward.

"Of course, it wasn't only one bunny and one kitty. There were lots and lots of similar animals doing this job. Otherwise it would be waaay too much of work for the duo to be able to handle the job in each night." The father continued and glanced at the window. "In fact, I think bunny visited our yard just last night." He told with a small grin while turning his gaze back into his son. "Would you want to go check if you'd find the hidden eggs?" The ruby eyed man inquired while getting up.

"YEAH!" The kid shouted in glee while already jumping up from the sofa. His father chuckled a bit and followed the five year old child of his to the door. The violet eyed boy was out into the yard the second the door was opened.

The father stayed at the door but kept his gaze whole time in his son. "Dark." The call of his name got him to look at his wife. "You keep on showing him your abilities." The words were spoken gently but there was a small reprimand in there.

Dark shrugged and turned his gaze back into the child. "It's part of me. It always has been and always will be. And because of me, Kafei might have some of those abilities too. It's not right to keep it hidden from him." He replied calmly without any of means for a fight.

Mirriam sighed but she couldn't help the small smile as she watched their son search for the chocolate eggs. "I know, dear. I'm just…. Worried." She replied without giving any of more reason. Dark simply nodded since he knew she would never tell him why she didn't want him or their kid to use the Shadow Powers.

"I FOUND ONE! I FOUND ONE!" Kafei suddenly shouted and dashed over to his parents. He showed the egg which was colored with bright lines of blue, red and green. There were few golden ducks and couple of black cats painted too.

Both Dark and Mirriam smiled widely at their son's excitement. "I think there's two more hidden somewhere." The mother told while having crouched down to her child's level.

"Really?!" Kafei half shouted while turning to look at their yard again. "I'm gonna find those too!" He stated determinately and gave the egg to his mother. Right after that he dashed back into checking the bushes, around the flowers and trying to look up into the trees.

Dark chuckled a bit and slightly grinned. "Whose encouraging Shadowy Powers now, hmm?" He inquired and smiled fondly at the small blush on his wife face.

"And who hid the eggs, I just ask." She countered with equally loving and bit teasing grin.

Dark shrugged while still having half smile, half grin on his face. "The Shadows. They enjoy of this kind of stuff." He answered while keeping eye on their kid.

"And the decoration in the eggs is your work." Mirriam mused bit proudly. She truly enjoyed of her husband's artistic side. Dark blushed brightly since he had desperately tried to keep that part hidden. "They're perfect, my love. They always have been and always will be." The woman half whispered with fully fond voice. This only got her love to blush even more.

They watched Kafei's going and followed him as he rounded the house in search of the other two eggs. Dark leaned against the wall while watching his son check through a bush of flowers while still being careful of not harming the plants. The ruby eyed male's gaze checked the surrounding forest before he bit sighed heavily.

Mirriam frowned slightly in worry as she noticed the slight change in the swordsman's mood. "What's wrong?" She inquired while placing her hand to his shoulder. Dark smiled sorrowfully and bit shrugged.

"Just missing my brothers and their families." He answered while pushing his slight sadness out of his mind. This was how things were and he wasn't going to change it.

"I know, hon. If you wish, you can go check on them today." Mirriam suggested bit hopefully even though she didn't really like the idea. Her husband shook his head and smiled bit lopsidedly.

"Nah. They understand the situation. Besides, I write a letter to Link each day. Aaand I talk with Dark through that Shadow Mind thing at least couple of times a week. Plus I'm prolly going to visit at the castle at next week." Dark answered with a slight shrug.

Mirriam nodded but she was still worried. "Have you…?" She left the inquiry unfinished but she knew Dark to understand her.

The ruby eyed Knight shook his head. "Not a word. They know roundabout way but not fully." He answered and bit sighed.

Yet, before Dark had a chance to continue, Mirriam hugged him. "I promise I'll explain the reasons at some day. Right now it'll be much safer to stay hidden. For the sake of all of us." She told even though she knew it wasn't the answer her love wanted to hear.

"I know." Dark answered and left the topic there. He didn't dare to tell that he had told to the Hero of Hyrule the exact location of his home. The dark Hylian fully and thoroughly counted on Link to keep it to himself. Even hiding the info from their oldest brother. Somehow the Half-Shadow felt like it would be better if at least other one of his brothers knew where he lived at. He didn't know why but he just felt like it would be crucial at some point.

Suddenly the duo's sorrowful thoughts were turned elsewhere as Kafei came back in full glee as he had found the second egg. It was decorated with black, silver and red stripes with a Triforce and six different pendants drawn into it. Dark had told, cleaned versions, of course, of Hyrule's history and Link's part in saving the kingdom so the kid knew what the drawn pictures meant. "ONE MORE!" Kafei shouted as he gave the egg to his mother before dashing off to find the remaining one.

In the end it didn't take long before the last egg was found. It didn't have as much of decoration as the other two. This simply had few golden colored chicks and flowers between each of them. The flowers were a red rose and a light blue bellflower.

"Now, let's make bit of a rule." Mirriam started while showing the three brought eggs but not letting Kafei pick any of them yet. The five year old boy was bit confused and glanced at his father for help. "You can choose one now, second after dinner and third after evening meal. Alright?" The mother continued and brought the eggs down for her son to choose one of the eggs.

Kafei had been bit worried at first of not getting any of the eggs but now he was eager to go along with the given rules. At least on this way he'd get a surprise once in a while through the whole day. The boy took a good look at each of the eggs before making a choice. He picked the one he had just found.

"Alright. Let's go inside so you can open it." Mirriam said before already starting to usher her family back indoors. Once inside they went to the kitchen. Dark put the other two eggs to a higher being cupboard to keep Kafei from coming to sneak any of them too soon. But then again, the kid was very obedient and most of the time followed the given rules.

While Kafei was opening the egg and starting to eat the chocolate to get to the small surprise, Dark was doing three hot chocolates. Mirriam was simply watching her son's doing with a small fond smile on her face. By the time the ruby eyed father came to the table with three mugs, the kid had made his way to the small package.

"So, what does it hold in?" Dark inquired calmly. Kafei shrugged but he was swift in opening the package. It revealed a small toy of a blue rabbit like creature which had a face of an owl and few golden straws as its ears.

"What's this?" The violet eyed boy asked with a frown while checking the small odd animal around. It had come with a small slip of a paper which had the thing's picture, name and bit of information. Yet, Kafei didn't yet know how to read.

Both Dark and Mirriam were bit confused of the creature so they picked the slip up. "It's says in here that the odd bunny's name is Blupee. A rare night creature that, if one can hit it by an arrow, drops rupees." The father read and shrugged a bit. "I've never seen one and this is the first time I even hear of such." He told calmly.

"So, it's not even a real creature?" Kafei asked while feeling like he'd been bit deceived. Dark simply shrugged but Mirriam answered with words.

"It might be real or then not. Since it's rare, not too many has seen it. Maybe, when you're older, you could try and track it down." The mother told as calmly as she could. She almost flinched at the suggestion since she knew very well how dangerous the world could be.

Kafei's expression brightened at the given idea. "Yeah! I'm gonna find the creature someday!" He half shouted before jumping up from his chair and going over to hug both of his parents. "I'll be at my room!" The boy told before snatching the toy, the info paper and his hot chocolate along. "Thanks for the hot chocolate!" He shouted while already dashing up the stairs to his room.

Mirriam chuckled a bit and shrugged at her husband's curious look. "I didn't wait for you to give him that kind of thought." He told before shrugging. "Then again, if you hadn't said it, I quite certainly would've." The Knight told with a small smile.

Time went by like on wings. Kafei kept the blue odd bunny along all the time no matter where he went. It was like a reminder of an adventure to come at some day. Before dinner the family of three watched few Easter movies. As for dinner they had rice balls, which had an Easter fit picture, and fish, the dark violet haired boy had a chance to pick another egg as dessert. This time he chose the one he had found first.

From this egg he found another blue creature. It looked like a horse with similar appearance as the blue bunny thing but it had four eyes and unique markings around its body. "And what's this creature's name?" Kafei inquired while being bit curious of the odd creature.

"It's called as "King of the Mountain"." Dark started as he read the information of the toy. "It's told to be as the guardian of all animals." He continued before giving the small slip of paper to his son.

"I'm gonna search this one out too someday!" Kafei promised with a determined look on his face. His parents simply nodded since neither could really say anything about it.

Eventually evening fell and brought the evening meal's time. It wasn't anything of unique, just simply toasted bread and few different kind of jams to go with them. The last chocolate egg revealed a small necklace. It had the marking of a friendship among Shadows. And inside the necklace was a photo of Kafei's family.

-.-.-.-

Kafei sighed and stood up from in front of the Clock Town's tower. He took the necklace out and looked at the picture. "We'll always be with you, Kafei." Those had been his mother's words. And only two years later he and his father lost her. Now, few decades later, he had moved out of Hyrule and followed his heart to Termina.

He and Anju didn't yet have kids but his life was quite well perfect even though hadn't heard of his father for quite a while now. His own Shadow Powers weren't as strong as his father's but he still kept practicing with those whenever he could.

Kafei hid the necklace and started to make his way back to the Inn which he and Anju held. Even though his wife handled everything else, he was needed to work with the food. She wasn't good with cooking but he did teach her whenever he could.

When he reached home, Kafei made his way straight to Anju and kissed her to lips. "Happy Easter, my love." He half whispered before taking out cutely colored egg and gave it to her. The chocolate egg contained a heart necklace with the words: "I will always love you. K *heart* A".
