The Tower of Fate was the home of many wonders both known and unknown of any dimension.

The tower is home to Kent Nelson and one other. Making his way out of the elevator, he walks before a floating sarcophagus. Inside rests his fourteen year old grandson. Wrapped in a warm blanket, given by her mother, and his father's old self-help book named, 'Our Choices is what makes our Fate', "Michael Nelson, just a little longer, you were born to do great things, I love you."

Leaving his grandson to rest, his existence on the outside is rather dull and quiet, but on the inside? He is undergoing a rigorous battle to wake up once more.

"Get back up!" A deep monstrous voice called.

"We've been at this for hours, can we please take a break?" Michael was tired.

"Not yet, the sooner you get better the sooner you can get back out there. Now pick up your blade and lets do this again."

"Yes master."

New Orleans

Walking down the streets Kent found a fortune shop. Pulling out his pocket watch he took a look at her beloved Inza. Closing the watch, he stepped inside the shop.

Inside the shop was a basic setup, lit candles mounted on skulls a round table with two chairs and only one light source.

Behind the bead curtain, a woman walked out with three gems on her forehead, "Bonaire, monsieur. How can Madame Xanadu be of service?" Walking closer to Kent she could read him as well as he'd allow, "Ah, there is someone to whom you wish to speak. Your wife, mais non?"

"Yes, my Inza." Kent clutched her locket closer.

"Then madame will make contact if fate be kind." Xanadu said smoothly.

Kent groaned to the name, "But he so rarely is." Taking a seat.

Madame Xanadu coughed and opened her hand, "Oh, of course." Kent gave her a bundle of rolled cash. She took it and stuffed it in her cleavage.

Taking a moment to prepare, wind gushed away the candles, the table floated and the lamp shade rumbled.

"Oh my darling how I've missed you. I'm so lonely here and cold." Madame Xandu's eyes glowed.

"Ha! Th-that's the best you could do?" Kent chuckled, amused by the woman's pathetic attempts to imitate magic.

The table dropped and the lights dimmed back to normal, "Imbecile! You have broken the spell. Your wife is forever lost."

"That was supposed to be my wife? Heh! Heck, my little spitfire would've kicked my can for throwin' away good money on you." Kent insulted.

"No refunds for nonbelievers." Xanadu folded her arms.

"I think we both know you're the nonbeliever, madame. A wind machine, tire jacks under the table. A shame too. My grandson could do better than you, and he's been in a coma for the past year, but I'm sure he'd appreciate the talent you got, and the aura you have for the work, and nothing would have pleased me more than to be reunited with my bride."

Then all of a sudden a man in popped up and grabbed him by the collar, "You will see her soon enough." Then they teleported away, sending Madame Xandu running to the back room. When she left the room Kent's walking cane glowed and floated in the air and vanished in golden light.

Mt. Justice

"Initiate, combat training. Three, two, one." The computer voice said, and shirtless Superboy and Aqualad began fighting in the digital ring.

Megan and Artemis watched the two, "Kaldur's, uh, nice, don't you think? Handsome. Commanding. You should totally ask him out." Artemis tapped M'gann's side.

"He's like a big brother to me. But you know who would make the cutest couple? You and Wally." Megan looked over to him wolfing down a burrito, "You're so full of passion, and he's so full of… Uh, of-"

"It?" Artemis finished and they both started laughing, "No way, we both know who's the cutest couple and they don't even know it yet." Artemis pointed at Trevor and Kara as he played a portable game and as she read a comic book.

"Definitely but they need time. They're cute enough as friends already." Megan smiled.

"Yeah, let'em figure it out themselves. I give'em three years." Artemis wagered.

"You know we can hear you and I'd never look at Kara like Wally does M'gann." Trevor said, keeping his attention on his game.

"And I prefer to be friends, thank you." Kara added.

Artemis and Megan just smiled at each other; they didn't need to speak telepathically to know what they think.

The boys were dishing out their sparring until Superboy swept his leg under Aqualad and threw him to the ground.

"Black Canary taught me that." Superboy said while rubbing his knuckles.

Soon after, Red Tornado lowered down from the roof hatch.

"Do you have a mission for us?" Kid Flash asked.

"Mission assignments are the Batman responsibility." Red Tornado spoke plainly.

"Yeah well, the Batman's with the Robin doing the dynamic duo thing in Gotham, but you're headed somewhere, right? Hot date or a-a mission?" Kid Flash pointed both fingers and smiled.

"If we can help." Aqualad assured in case Kid Flash was being too insistent.

"This is Kent Nelson, a friend. He is 106 years old." Red Tornado showed the kids him on the monitor.

"Guy doesn't look a day over ninety." Kid Flash whispered to Artemis.

"And he has been missing for twenty-three days. Kent was a charter member of the Justice Society. The Precursor to your mentors Justice League." Red Tornado swapped the photo to show a man in a blue suit and gold-plated armor.

"Of course. Nelson was Earth's sorcerer supreme. He was Doctor Fate." Aqualad remembered.

All Kid Flash could do was scoff, and leaned over to Artemis, "More like Dr. Fake. Guy knows a little science and 'Dumbledore' it up to scare the bad guys and impress the babes."

Hearing that Wonder Boy lightly kicked Wally behind the leg, "I swear if I wish I could sow your mouth shut. You forget my mom and her people, the Amazons are affiliated with the Gods of Greek mythology. The Amazons were brought to life by magic."

"I am not discussing this with you." Kid Flash sneered.

"Because you know you'll lose?" Kara asked.

"Kent may simply be on one of his walkabouts, but he is caretaker to the helmet of fate, the source of the doctor's mystic might."

"The helmet of Fate? Cool." Wonder Boy commented. "I've always wanted to see it."

"Also in regards to the helmet, leaving such relic unguarded is unwise. Speaking of unguarded, Kent has his grandson, Michael Nelson, in a deep sleep after he was rescued from one John Dee, or as he's known by the league, Dr. Destiny."

"What happened to him exactly?" Wonder Boy curiously asked.

"I remember this story," Aqualad mentioned as he transitioned the screen to the report, "Dr. Destiny wanted access to the outer dimensions, and so he held Kent's grandson hostage. After the league took him down, he shattered his mind, and he's been healing him ever since."

"So clinically he's basically brain dead." Kid Flash added.

"That's awful, if something's happened to Kent we need to make sure Michael and the helmet are okay." Kara said, worried about Michael more than the helmet.

"Kent's like the great sorcerer priests and priestess of Mars. I would be honored to help find him." M'gann smiled with hope.

"Me, too." Kid Flash instantly turned his ideals around, "so honored I can barely stand it. Magic rocks." He pulled both hands and held the devil horns gesture.

"Yeah, let's go!" Kara cheered.

Trevor pulled Wally over with an arm over his shoulders and holding him tight. "Yeah let's learn the magic of how a desperate speedster will say anything to woo the Martian girl in spite of his real opinion just moments ago." Trevor passively insulted Wally's ego.

"Take this. It is the key to the tower of Fate." Red Tornado handed Aqualad a key.

"What are the chances we both so admire the mystic arts?" Wally asked.

"Some of us respect them better than most." Trevor spoke aloud.

Trevor was getting under Wally's skin and Kara was doing everything to keep her laughing from being noticed.

Later that night, the team was in the bioship flying to the tower, "So, Wally, when did you first realize your honest affinity for sorcery?" Artemis asked.

"Yes, we'd all love to hear how you discovered the wondrous world of magic." Wonder Boy added.

"I can answer for him, just today." Supergirl answered for him.

"More specifically after hearing M'gann's interest on the topic, and why is that Wally?" Trevor asked.

"Because he's a sucker for the martian." Artemis finalized.

Kara, Trevor couldn't hold back anymore and let out all their laughter on the situation.

"Maybe Kid Flash should stop hitting on the Martian on this team and maybe settle for miss archer here." Wonder Boy suggested. "Better for each other if you ask me."

"Seriously, you'd probably fight less and stop arguing when we're all under telepathy." Kara added.

"Okay then, how about this, big Wonder Brat, I'll go on a date with the Archer if you go on a date with your Kryptonian partner in sass." Kid Flash was fed up and is at wits end.

Both kids froze in defeat and Kara turned around sulking, "Sorry Wally."

"My mom would kill me if I did that." Trevor sighed in defeat.

"That's what I thought, I knew you couldn't do it, and to think I wagered on it." Wally smiled in victory only to have Trevor smile severely maniacal, "Hey Kara, you ever been to an arcade? There's this cool place where they have mini-golf, wanna have some fun before school starts?"

"Do they have pizza?" Kara asked. "I never had pizza before."

"Oh they definitely have pizza." Trevor answered.

Kara looked over at Wally, and thought, "If he wagered on it, he'll go with Artemis?"

"Let's go to this park Trevor!" Kara yelled, and smiled with excitement, "After this mission of course."

Kid Flash was stunned as the situation turned on him, "So Wally, you said you wagered, a bargain is a bargain." Artemis called over.

"I do not need this." Kid Flash sat in his chair in defeat, "Fine, we'll just get some coffee and get it over with."

"Or we can go to this Mongolian steakhouse, they make a great stir fry." Artemis enticed.

"Okay… Okay that does sound good." Kid Flash admitted.

"Eyes open, team. We made it to the address." Aqualad switched the group of friends into the team that's needed.

"We've reached Tornado's coordinates but…" Miss Martian landed the bioship in front of a completely empty lot.

"Nothing's there." Superboy realized.

"Take us down." Aqualad ordered.

The team was absolutely shocked at the location, Kid Flash ran around every inch of the lot and regrouped with Artemis, "Nothing, this isn't simple camouflage."

"So what do you think? Adaptive microopto-electronics combined with phase shifting?" Artemis asked.

"Absolutely…" Kid Flash noticed Miss Martian walking over, "Not. Clearly mystic powers are at work here."

"Aqualad, is there anything that the key Red gave us that can give us a clue?" Wonder Boy asked.

Aqualad looked down at the key and saw the word, "insert". If this key is to unlock Kent Nelson's mystic tower, then finding must be, "A test of faith. Stand behind me." Aqualad approached the empty lot and pushed the key inside an invisible lock. The tower appeared before them, several stories high and the door opened as if it never left its location.

Entering the tower, the group was in an empty room, Superboy looked back and found no door, "Ugh, where'd the door go?"

Soon after a light figure shined in the form of Kent Nelson, "Greetings. You have entered with a key, but the tower does not recognize you. Please state your purpose and intent.

Kid Flash looked back at Miss Martian and smiled, he was about to step up, but Wonderboy and Supergirl stopped him from speaking, "Kent Nelson is missing, we're here to make sure the helmet of fate is secure, and that Michael Nelson is safe." Supergirl spoke the truth.

"Very well, you speak the truth, one moment." The light figure of Kent faded.

"Lemme guess a hologram?" Artemis asked.

"No way that was definitely a mystical version of Kent." Kid Flash turned back at M'gann.

"Oh will you stop brown-nosing already Kid, you don't believe in magic. If Kara and I didn't stop your 'impress Megan at all costs' game could've dropped us into a pit of lava for all we know." Wonder Boy has had enough.

"Seriously, Wally, maybe you should just fess up already. You don't believe in any of this." Kara said.

"Of course, I believe Megalicious is all the magic this tower needs." Wally wooed Megan.

"Megan, what does Wally think of all this? Read his mind." Kara rubbed her face from exhaustion.

"Wally, do you really believe?" Megan asked out loud, and finished her question telepathically, "Answer without trying to flirt with me, please?" The rest could still hear her.

"Fine! Fine! I lied about believing in magic. But magic is the real lie, a major load." Kid Flash crossed his arms to the subject.

"Wally, I studied for a year-" Aqualad was about to explain but was interrupted by Trevor, "Kaldur, don't. It's like barking in the abyss, you say what you want, and you get nothing but misery. He'll chalk up your eel fangs to bioelectricity. Am I right?"

"Yes of course, exactly." Wally cheered.

"What about Wonder Woman's lasso of truth?" Trevor questioned.

Kid Flash was about to answer that but then the brick wall opened to reveal a study with a lit fire. Above the fire was a painted portrait of Kent Nelson and what is to be assumed his grandson.

Before them was a floating cane, "That cane belongs to Kent, see the painting." Trevor pointed.

"Ooh, maybe it's Kent's magic wand." Kid Flash finally spoke his mind.

"Here let me." Artemis took the cane from its floating position.

They both grabbed hold of the came simultaneously, "I got it!" They both argued, "Uh, I can't let go." They both said again and they flew up to the roof and faded away in a golden light.

"Is it just me or am I glad Wally is finally gone?" Trevor asked.

"Regardless, Artemis is with him. They'll be fine, no doubt." Supergirl assured.

"Greetings, children of refined talents. You said you wish to see Michael Nelson and his condition. You may take this door and you will find him on the other side. Also, we have intruders wandering the tower, and it would seem they have Kent Nelson. The cane has taken your two friends to assist him. As for those who wish to assist your friends and Kent, take this door." Two doors appeared as the light version of Kent explained.

"So we divide and conquer." Trevor suggested to Kaldur, "Agreed, you and Kara go check on Michael, the rest of us will go help the others."

The group nodded and they took their designated directions. Kara and Trevor made their way to a room. Kara noticed a few meditation recordings, and Trevor noticed a practice sword, "This guy seems more of a fan of swordsmanship than sorcery. Maybe I could teach him a few things. Assuming he ever wakes up."

"Yeah, I'm sure he'd like that." Kara said as she opened the next room to find a sarcophagus laid in the center of the room, "Hey, here he is."

Trevor and Kara found Michael intact and still asleep. Examining the kid's floating tomb of silence, he noticed a book inside with him, "Our Choices is what makes our fate… Seems like he's been troubled." Trevor suggested.

"So he's the grandson of Dr. Fate, and he was put in a coma because of Dr. Destiny. Seems conflicting." Kara realized.

"Wonder what's going on in his head. People in coma's are still aware of what's going on around them." Trevor added.

"Wow, umm Michael, if you can hear us, we're here to help you, and your grandfather." Kara called to him.

"Wish M'gann were here, she could help us figure out what's going on." Trevor said.

"Well we don't need to wake him up, just make sure he's safe and asleep." Kara reminded Trevor.

"So… why do you think he's in this thing? I mean I remember the story before we got here but what is this thing doing?" Trevor asked.

"Reminds me of my old stasis pod." Kara answered.

"What did your pod do for you?" Trevor asked.

"It kept me preserved on my journey to earth." Kara explained, "I was in a deep sleep on my way from Krypton to here."

"You know I never really asked much about your life before Earth… Wanna talk about it sometime?" Trevor asked.

Kara fell silent, "I... I'd prefer to enjoy my time here, are we still going to that golf park with pizza?" She wanted to change the subject, and Trevor can tell.

"Yeah, but… To be honest, I don't think my mom would allow us to go just you and I. Maybe I can ask her to have my dad come with us." Trevor was having a little doubt, but it could still work.

Kara looked at the sarcophagus. "Should we do something?"

"No, I think we do what you suggested. For now, we just keep him safe, let him sleep." Trevor suggested.

Wally and Artemis found themselves teleported into a mysterious room, it was an open void of space and stairways in every direction and angle. It's like a giant visual illusion, but then the cane started glowing again.

Both looked to see two people torturing an old man, along with some kid petting a cat.

"Have fun with him. I'm gonna go finish off his little brat. Shattering his mind wasn't enough, I'm gonna finish him off for good this time." The man then walked off.

The moment, the two torturing the old man saw the two above he started glowing gold as well. Floating over to his cane his ropes disappeared and he used the cane to reveal a hidden elevator. "In here."

The three entered the elevator and were given a moment to breathe.

"I'm Kent Nelson by the way." Kent introduced himself.

"No… ow." Wally was bumped in the chest by Artemis. "I'm Artemis. Ms. Manners here is Wally."

"Well Artemis we're up against an opponent with tremendous mystic power."

"Abra Kadabra? Flash has proven Kadabra uses technology that seems like magic. Guy's all show and no biz. Dr. Destiny uses a device that modifies brain frequencies that he controls people with." Wally opposed.

"Right you are." Kent replied,

"He is?" Artemis questioned, surprised.

"Abra is a charlatan, Destiny not so much, but they're both nothing compared to Klarion, the kid with the cat. He's an actual lord of Chaos, the ultimate enemy to a Lord of Order like Doctor Fate."

Wally scoffed. "Right. You're a lord of order."

"Oh no, not me. I'm just an old coot Fate used to put on until my wife Inza convinced me there could be more to life." Kent then pulled an old locket out of his pocket and opened it up revealing the black and white picture of a woman. "Ah, she was a real pistol, that Inza. I cherish every moment we made together, having our daughter, and welcoming our grandson Michael into the world."

"A couple of friends in our team have your grandson safe. We know he's in a coma thanks to Dr. Destiny."

"And now he's here to finish what he started. Fortunately he'll be okay." Wally assured.

"Don't be so sure, Dr Destiny is still a dangerous foe, and I don't doubt your friend's skills but Dr. Destiny is still a formidable foe." Kent said, "With any luck a friend of mine should be able to help just for a few minutes."

"What do you mean?" Artemis.

"Michael, after Destiny shattered his mind I called upon an ally of mine to help repair his mind, but that also means he can also use Michaels abilities." Kent explained.

"Kent, sir. You can't just repair a shattered mind it's just not scientifically possible?" Wally asked.

"Well this isn't science it's magic." Kent asked in full confidence in Wally.

"You know what I'm done discussing this." Wally groaned in frustration.

"They're we go." Kent Nelson said as they reached their destination. "Now onto more pressing matters. We must secure the helmet fate if Klarion gets his hands on it he'll turn the planet into his own personal playground of pandemonium."

Just then the elevator dinged and the door opened. Before them were several stairways, set in mysterious positions, and the rest of their team. In the middle of the room was a giant bell. "Friends of yours?"

Suddenly a jolt of electricity fired at them. All of the team was in a daze to the pain, but they quickly brushed it off.

"Friends of yours?" Wally asked.

Kent quickly escorted Wally to the bell where he hit it with his cane the moment he did it glowed bright. Kent then let Kid Flash inside but Klarion quickly followed.

Wally and Kent stood atop the tower with the helmet of fate above them. Kent reach for it but was suddenly blasted with red energy. Before them was Klarion.

Kent quickly recited a spell and summoned a golden shield from his cane around them and the helmet.

"NOOOO!" Klarion screamed in frustration, "GIVE ME THAT HELMET!"

"No bad for a former 'Doctor Fake' eh kid?" Kent asked as he struggled to stay standing but failed. Kent fell but Wally quickly caught him and carefully set him down. "The bubble will give you just enough time to do what you need to do."

"I have no idea what I need to do."

"Have faith… in what you can't explain. Believe in what you can no longer deny. And… take good care of my grandson." Kent said with his last breath and succumbed to the arms of death.

Wally quickly performed CPR to try to revive Kent while Klarion kept bloating balls of mystical energy outside. "I want that helmet and I want it now!"

Wally then looked up at the hamlet floating above him. "I don't believe in any of this, but I know when I need to make a choice."

Wally reached up and grabbed the helmet.

"Hey dumb kid, if you put that on you may never get it off!" Klarion growling in frustration summoned two gigantic arms and sunk them into the bubble. Kalrion then ripped the bubble in pieces. Wally then raised the helmet up to his head at the same time Klarion fired a massive burst of energy. Wally lowered the helmet, putting on just as the energy made contact with him.

Guarding Michael was proving to be very easy for Kara and Trevor.

"You know I'm starting to worry about the team." Kara insisted, but Trevor wasn't so focused on the team.

"I don't know, I'm more worried about the quiet. It's been so long and not a peep from anyone on the outside." Trevor wasn't wrong.

Suddenly a couple of demonic ghostly hands rose from below the two kids and a big-robed figure approached them. "Well well well. I came here for just one child, but I didn't think I'd manage to catch three kids… Hmm, an Amazon, and you're a hybrid, you possess the blood of a god… extraordinary. A Kryptonian? What a score, this is gonna be real fun."

Dr. Destiny for the time being ignored the two kids and walked towards Michael, "Michael Nelson, you and I have some unfinished business. The doctor needs to perform a new lobotomy procedure." Dr. Destiny reached for the boy, and tapped his glass to only have his sarcophagus shatter and Michael drop slowly.

"John Dee, last time I saw you, you tried to kill me. And yet I stand before you to congratulate you." Michael said, even took Dr. Destiny.

"Congratulate me?" Dr. Destiny asked.

"As the grandson of Dr. Fate and the victim of Dr. Destiny I understand now who I am to be. I am the sword that transcends both fate and destiny. I am Blackout." Michael summoned a blade to his side and struck Dr. Destiny with one fell swoop. The strike was hardly anything to Dr. Destiny, but it certainly isn't what he was expecting. Michael's garments quickly morphed into a black suit with a long trench coat. A black top hat along with a skull mask to complete his attire.

"Well this is new, but I don't think I'm actually speaking with Michael though, who are you?" Dr. Destiny admitted.

"I am the lord unbound to Fate, or Destiny, I am the Lord of Hope, and I bow to no one!" The entity said.

Michael yielded his blade and charged straight for Dr. Destiny, hand to hand. Michael jumped in the air and planted a hard kick on Destiny, "I thought you were a wizard's grandson." he spat.

"I am, but I make my own choices." The entity stood ready to fight.

With that both charged at each other as Wonder Boy and Supergirl were both forced to watch. Neither of the able to move.

After putting on the helmet Wally found himself standing in a black empty void with a light shining above him.

"Okay, okay. No problem. I'm not here, I'm just delusional." Wally said, trying to convince himself none of what he's seeing is real.

"Still don't believe, seriously kid how did you get so bullheaded in fifteen short years?" Wally looked to see an unbelievable sight, Kent approaching him.

"But-but you're-you're." Wally stuttered in disbelief.

"Yep, but don't feel bad. Once this little bruhaha is over my spirit will ascend and I'll be reunited with my beloved Inza and our beloved daughter. Though even I must admit, I'm even looking forward to meeting my son-in-law."

"Ooh. Okay." Just then something occurred to Wally and he began panicking. "Wait does that mean that i'm-"

"Nah you're alive but your soul no longer controls your body." Kent explained. "See, we're inside the helmet, you put it on and my soul got sucked in. probably because I spent so many years serving its master."

"Master?" Wally questioned.

"Nabu, the real Dr. Fate, one of them Lords of Order I told you about, he's the guy controlling your body now." Kent explained then turned Wally forward. "Wanna watch?"

Outside the helmet, Dr. Fate in control of Wally's body battled Klarion the Witch Boy, wally clothing transformed into Dr. Fate's blue and gold attire. Dr. Fate blocked Klarion's attack one by one with a magic shield spell. "Give it up Nabu, order went out of style in the twentieth century."

"This battle is pointless you sought to take the helmet before it gained a host but you are too late." Nabu replied in equal pride.

"Shut it you old fart!" Klarion spat then summoned two giant stone beams and crushed Dr. fate, however he easily broke out and then recited his own spell, unleashing a massive blast of mystic energy that disintegrated Klarion.

However a few seconds later Klarion quickly regenerated his body behind Dr, Fate and released a bust of lighting shocking him.

Back inside the helmet Wally screamed in pain and fell to his knees. "What gives?"

"Well it is your body." Kent stated.

Wally got back on his feet and said. "Then let me control it. With Fate's power and my speed–"

"Sorry kid, doesn't work that way. But you can see why I haven't put on the helmet in sixty-five years." Kent said.

"And if Fate loses this fight?" Wally nervously aksed.

"You see my loved ones before I do." Kent said.

Back outside the helmet, Dr. Fate was doing his best to battle against Klarion, but his host has no mystical abilities at all, significantly weakening his power. However, Klarion was at full power. Dr. Fate did his best to fight against Klarion but it was no use, he's too powerful.

"You're out of practice Nabu, and that pathetic host body. Zero affinity for the mystic arts." Klarion said, then summoned a massive cloud above the owner which shot bolts of red lighting down at Fate but he quickly summoned a shield around himself to protect him.

"Ooh, rainbow power." Klarion commented as he watedh Nabu struggling.

Klarion's cat Teekl then meowed.

"I am paying attention you stupid cat."

Teekl then let out a more aggressive meow.

"In case you haven' noticed I'm winning."

Just then Fate knew how to win this fight, summoning any energy he had he broke free and confronted the Witch Boy. "It is difficult for a lord of order or chaos to maintain a presence on the physical plain."

Kalrion's face transformed into a monstrous appearance with fire all over him, he let out a horrible roar and blasted two huge balls of fire at him but Fate easily dodged them.

"I am bound to the helmet and use a human host. But that is not your way."

"You're babbling Nabu!" Klarion spat.

"Am I?" Nabu released a massive burst of energy. Klarion summoned a shield to protect him but surprisingly the blast missed him and hit his cat instead.

"Teekl!" Klarion screamed then agrilly turned back to Nabu. "I can't believe you would assault a defenseless pussycat."

"We both know that creature is no cat, Witchboy, and without your familiar, you have no anchor in this reality." As soon as Nabu said that, Klarion's physical form began to fade away.

"Bully! Killjoy! Geezer!" Klarion spat.

Dr. Fate released another blast but Klarion quickly teleported and grabbed his cat. "We're out of here."

With that Klarion and his cat vanished into thin air leaving Dr. Fate victorious.

The entity possessing Michael was losing badly in his fight against Dr. Destiny, despite his power Dr destiny is proving to be too much.

"I'm not impressed, Blackout." John scolded as he had the upper hand.

Dr. Destiny placed his heel on Michael's Neck, "Now, to finish the job."

Just as soon as he said those words, he was quickly teleported away by a mysterious gold symbol. As soon as he was gone Trevor and Kara were freed and Michael's power suddenly faded. All of a sudden his new clothes began fading changing back into what he once wore.

"Ah, I can no longer maintain control of this form… get him back in the pod now." The voice said before vanishing from Michaels body.

Dropping to the floor spasming as if he was going into shock, Trevor and Kara quickly made their way over to him. Trevor and Kara hoisted him from the floor and laid him back to sleep.

"That was pretty cool." Trevor added.

"Think he might join us?" Kara asked.

"Dunno, but I hope." Trevor smiled at the idea. A new member in the magic division of their team.

In the helmet Wally and Kent as Dr. Fate stood victorious. "Yes that's how we kick it on the earthly plane.

However both noticed Fate was doing nothing even though the fight is over.

"It's over right? So why isn't Nabu taking off the helmet?" Wally asked.

A helmet then appeared behind them. "Because the Earth needs Dr. Fate I will not release this body."

"You can't do that… Can he do that?" Wally asked.

"Can but shouldn't." Kent answered, then turned to Nabu. "Nabu this is not the right candidate, the kid's soul belongs to the world of science not sorcery."

"True, but I do not appreciate being permanently hidden away, useless and isolated for decades at a time." Nabu said, sounding rather dreadful. "Chaos must not be allowed to reign."

"That won't happen again, the boy will take the helmet and make sure you're put to good use." Kent persuaded.

"Yeah, I swear." Wally replied.

"And in the meantime I'll stick around, keep you company."

Wally then looked at Kent in disbelief. "Wait what happened to you ascending seeing Inza and your family"

"So you believe now eh? Don't sweat it kid, I'll spend a few millennia here then see my family." Kent said then pulled the picture. "That's the great thing about eternity, it's eternal."

"The bargain is acceptable." Nabu accepted.

"Oh, and my grandson will keep close to the helmet, he's been training with our mutual friend of ours." Kent assured.

"Oh him… Very well, just so long as… he doesn't put on the helmet." Nabu warned.

Kent then turned to Wally. "Before we go, do me a favor and take care of my grandson, he should be waking up in about a couple of more months from now. Oh and some free advice before you go. Find your own little spitfire, one who won't let you get away with anything. For example that blonde…"

Wally found himself back on the tower holding the helmet of Fate. He turned to the body of Kent Nelson then approached it then placed the locket in his hand and rested it close to him.

"Thanks for sticking by my views." Wally held the helmet as the rest of the team arrived, "Hey, where's Trevor and Kara?"

"Watching over Michael still, why?" Artemis asked.

"Well… Kent asked that we take him in, before he… Went to see his family. On the upside, his grandson has pretty wacky tower for him to inherit." Wally smiled.

Mt. Justice

The rain was falling outside Mt. Justice Wally was in his trophy room and placed the helmet beside Cheshire's mask.

A woman coughed to get Wally's attention, "You never said what happened to you, when you put on the helmet."

"Energy from the thing rewrote my brain's beta waves. I was bio-scripted into becoming Doctor Fate for a few minutes. No big."

"Wait, you're still claiming there's no such thing as magic? If that's how you feel then why keep it at all?" Artemis asked.

"Souvenir! Besides Kent didn't seem to mind me and science." Wally smiled.

Artemis just nodded with a smile and walked away, "So that wager, last night? Wanna get some coffee?"

"You know I was thinking that at first… But then I thought, I needed something to laugh at, and after what happened I know just the thing, I got two tickets to a magic show." Wally showed Artemis.

"You're kidding?" Artemis was shocked.

"Oh c'mon let's have a good laugh." Wally walked beside Artemis to the zeta tube.

The arcade Trevor talked about was absolutely spectacular for Kara. The sparkling lights, the joyful sounds. So many kids her and Trevor's age having an absolute blast of fun!

Outside the attraction was the minigolf area, some of the courses looked challenging. One, in particular, was tiki-themed next to a course with a windmill.

The two of them started with airhockey, and Kara was a natural, "Yay, I won!" Kara cheered with her hands up.

"Oh c'mon best two out of three." Trevor boasted. Kara looked at him with a smug smile that just screams, "I'm better than you!"

Trevor's father was supervising the two, he smiled big at his son's new friend, they seem to be enjoying their company, especially when they moved to the arcade shooters, some type of zombie arcade shooter built in the 90's.

When it came to games involving hand-eye coordination

"Wanna go play some games where we get tickets? We can get prizes." Trevor asked.

"Sure." Kara smiled.

A night of minigolf and some ticket games, they finally made it to the full pepperoni pizza.

"Oh man, this pizza is so good! Mmm!" Kara giggled at the taste of this earthly meal.

Trevor and Kara switched over to the minigolf course. For Kara it was rather difficult, not because of the instructions of the game, but to keep her strength from swinging her club from sending the golf ball flying.

After some time, the two managed to finish their game of minigolf, "I did it!" Trevor cheered at their scores.

"Oh you are so going down next time!" Kara stuck her tongue out.

Over inside the arcade, with Trevor's quick reflexes, he was able to nail the ticket games easy, and Kara's strength was able to help with the games that needed strength. The two racked up a heaping pile of tickets. "Hmm what do you want?" Kara asked.

"Hmm, let's get that!" Trevor pointed at the giant stuffed wolf. The employee unhooked the stuffed animal and they both held it, "He's so cool!" Kara smiled.

"Should we keep him at the base?" Trevor asked.

"Yeah!" Kara agreed.

"Alright kids, we need to get going, I have to get going." Steven insisted to the kids,

"Okay." Kara sighed.

Just as soon as they left the front door, Diana was waiting for them in civilian clothes, "Hey kids, Steven."

"Hey mom." Trevor looked away to avoid eye contact.

"Care to explain why you didn't tell me about this day out?" Diana asked the kids and her husband, "And not invite me?" Diana smiled and then reached into her purse, "Especially when I have tickets to a movie you've been dying to see Trevor."

"Oh… Sorry mom." Trevor tried to force up a smile.

"Well lucky for you, young man, I got four tickets." Diana turned the hard moment into a relief.

The kids looked back at Diana with a new look of relief, "Who won the giant stuffed wolf?" Diana asked.

"We did!" Kara answered.

"We're going to take it back to Mt. Justice." Trevor added.

"That's great kids," Diana smiled, "Ready for school in less than two weeks you guys?"

"Why don't you two wait for us in the car," Steven suggested to the two kids.

They both ran over to Steven's car, and was left alone with Diana, "So what did you really want to say?" Steven asked.

"Other than I want to scold our son for bringing her friend to this place, and asked for you to watch them and not me? But that'd be petty of me. Aside from that, they look so happy."

"Think nothing of it, Angel, they're still kids, they're just friends," Steven diverted the conversation to avoid any precise topics to address the situation.

"Let's go to the movies." Diana smiled.

The next day, the team assembled with Red Tornado and Batman, "So everyone, Kent is no longer with us, but he left us with his grandson, and his tower." Batman explained as he showed a live video of Michael in the boy in his sarcophagus in the medical wing, "As Wally reported, Kent stated he'll wake up in September, which is why until then he must not be interfered with, and under your protection."

"So what's this guy's story?" Robin asked due to his absence on the mission.

"John Dee put him in a coma, we'll explain the rest later." Wally said quickly while slurping a milkshake.

"So do you propose we have him join the team when he wakes up?" Superboy asked.

"That depends," Aqualad looked over at Trevor and Kara, "You saw him face off Dr. Destiny, what did he do?"

"He woke up all of a sudden, I think he was partially possessed like Wally described but he seemed to be more in control than Wally." Kara explained.

"He said 'I am the sword that transcends both fate and destiny. I am Blackout'." Trevor repeated, "And then when Dr. Destiny was pulled away the power he had faded and we put him back in the sarcophagus."

Aqualad looked at the kid on the screen. He's sleeping as if he never moved, "We'll take him under our wing, and when he wakes up we'll let him decide what he wants to do."

Batman smiled on the inside, but he kept his blank expression the same, "Very well."
