Ellie woke up to tight cramping in her stomach. She turned and tried to get to sleep but it was too painful. She nervously got out of bed and tiptoed to the bathroom. She was shocked to see how much blood was on the pad even though her aunt had given her a night pad. She quickly changed it before cleaning herself up and heading back to bed.

"Are you okay?" Stevie asked, "It's only 4:30".

Ellie nodded.

"My stomach was sore" Ellie admitted, and Stevie sat up slightly to look at the girl.

"Do you want me to get your something for the pain?" Stevie asked but Ellie shook her head. She didn't want her aunt having to get out of bed.

"Nah, I'll be okay" Ellie explained. Stevie nodded but pulled the girl into her arms.

"See if this helps" Stevie said as she gently rubbed the girl's stomach and held her close to her. The comfort of her aunt helped Ellie drift off to sleep for a couple more hours.

Part of Ellie was expecting her aunt to still wake her up for school, so she was quite surprised when she woke up at 9 o'clock to see her aunt still next to her in bed. Stevie was sat reading a medical journal.

"Sleep a bit better?" Stevie asked and Ellie nodded.

"By the way, this isn't an all the time thing" Stevie said, "You don't get the day off every time you have your period. You will have this from now until you are 50 so you need to get used to it".

Ellie nodded.

"Will I just have to deal with it if it's always this heavy" Ellie asked slightly worried.

"There are options – like you can go on the contraceptive pill to help regulate your periods and make them less heavy" Stevie explained, and Ellie nodded.

"Though hopefully, it starts to settle" Stevie explained, and Ellie nodded.

"I'm a bit nervous about dealing with it when I'm at school" Ellie nervously admitted, "Like when you undo the pad, you hear it".

"Oh sweetie, I know it's tricky but honestly everyone who uses the toilets at school will have their period or be getting it soon" Stevie explained.

"You'll have pads in your bag for lunch or breaktime. Also don't your school have period supplies in the bathroom now which you can help yourself to" Stevie said, and Ellie shrugged.

"They only sometimes have stuff there. That would be easier though because the toilets are quieter during class time" Ellie explained, and Stevie nodded.

"Honey please try not to worry about it" Stevie said kissing the girl on the head. They relaxed into a gently silence as they sat up in the bed.

"Can I have a shower?" Ellie asked and Stevie nodded.

"I'm so glad that I got my cast off" Ellie said as she twisted her arm admiring the bare skin which had been hidden for the last 6 weeks. Stevie nodded.

"It's healing very well. I'm going to research some stretches for you to do though to build up the muscle again, just until the physio appointment comes through" Stevie said remembering how the doctor had noticed some weakness in the strength of the injured arm. Ellie nodded before disappearing to the bathroom. Ellie quickly showered before changing into clothes that she had brought to the bathroom with her. She had had a dizzy spell in the shower and felt like it might be useful to tell her auntie.

"Auntie Stevie" Ellie asked nervously standing at the bathroom door looking in on her aunt. Stevie's head shot up.

"What's wrong?" Stevie asked patting the bed next to her and opening her arms.

"Well, it's not a big deal but I just wanted to tell you – I got really dizzy in the shower and I thought I might faint so I had to sit down on the floor" Ellie admitted and Stevie nodded.

"Thank you for letting me know, let's go and get you some food. We'll see if that helps at all" Stevie said, "There are also food that we can add to your diet nearer your time of the month to help boost your iron".

Ellie nodded, she was so relieved that her aunt was here.

"Stevie" Ellie mumbled, and Stevie hummed in response to show the girl that she was listening.

"I don't know what I would have done if I was still in care" Ellie mumbled into her aunt's neck. She was so lucky to have her aunt here.

"I know sweetie, I'm so glad that I have found you" Stevie said giving the girl a hug.

"If I hadn't found you, then I wouldn't have known what was happening and then John probably would have still been doing things to me" Ellie admitted, and Stevie nodded. Stevie closed her eyes, she hated that the girl would have been coping with that.

"I'm so glad that he's in jail" Stevie said, and Elle nodded.

"Why did he do it to only me?" Ellie asked. "He didn't do it to any of the other girls."

Stevie bit her lip, she didn't know the reason. She doubted that there even was a specific reason. She didn't even want to think about what must have gone through that man's head.

"I don't know baby, he either had a very stupid reason, or no reason at all. Try not to overthink it" Stevie said kissing the girl on the head. She just didn't know how to make the girl feel any better.

"Do you want to talk a bit more about it?" She asked but Ellie shook her head. She really wasn't in the mood. She was feeling a bit down and didn't want to dwell on it, knowing it would only make her feel worse.

"How can I help you?" Stevie asked and Ellie shrugged.

"Maybe, we can watch a film to take my mind off it?" Ellie suggested and Stevie smiled.

"I'll make some toast and then I'll be through" Stevie said. "Pick a good movie".

Stevie returned with toast for both herself and the young girl.

"I found this series on Netflix that I thought we could start watching. It's based on a book, I've never read the book but I fancy reading it" Ellie explained as she started speaking quickly to her aunt. Stevie smiled trying to listen in on all the young girl was saying.

"That sounds really good" Stevie said sitting down next to her. "We can order the books if you want. Do you want to see if you can find them on amazon?"

Stevie handed the young girl her phone and quickly Ellie started browsing.

"Do you mind if I maybe buy 5 books?" Ellie asked and Stevie nodded.

"That sounds like a good start" Stevie said, "We can also get you a card for the local library if you want".

Ellie nodded and snuggled closer to her aunt. She loved it when her aunt listened to what she had to say.

"Em, I was meaning to mention this to you yesterday, but next week you have to go to the police again and give another statement. It's nothing to worry about, it's just so they can get more information to get all of the charges together" Stevie explained, and Ellie sighed. She let out a quiet sob.

"Not again" Ellie cried silently.

"I will be with you, I promise" Stevie explained, and pulled her niece into her arms.

"You'll be so bored of hearing the same story" Ellie admitted.

"What? No, not at all. Every time I hear anything about what he did to you, my heart bleeds. It hurts more than the words can explain" Stevie explained and Ellie nodded but kept her head tight against her aunt.

"Do you think it will get better? You know how I feel?" Ellie asked.

"It will get better, it won't disappear, it never will. But it should get better. You have people to support you now, we will support you always and forever" Stevie said and Ellie nodded. She was so lucky to have her aunt.

"Come on, let's watch some of this episode now. But remember anytime you want to talk, we can" Stevie said and Ellie nodded. She was so lucky to have her aunt there for her all the time.

Sorry, it's short and not the best. Please give me some more ideas :)
