The little girl danced her way over to Cinderella and wiggled in her spot while they waited for Alice to arrive. She did, in a more subdued way than Lilo, skipping daintily to the middle of the stage to sing.
When all is bleak
It's okay to feel weak
Bruno smiled. He was aware of how soft and sensitive he was. He was more prone to crying than most men in his generation. It was nice to know, however, the younger generations are more open.
Regulus felt very conflicted. He felt validated, but like Bruno, was raised where men sharing emotions simply were not done. He acknowledged that he needed to talk to someone about the life he's led.
Let all the tears leak
As if it were on command, Bruno started crying. He was letting all of the words mean something to him. He was letting this song help him heal more of himself.
The pianist continued to play softly as their audience member took a moment. He was very uncomfortable with the whole ordeal, but looked on with slight concern. Bruno smiled softly at Regulus gratefully.
It doesn't make you meek
What could be described as meek when being soft wasn't described as that? That was the question that ran through Regulus' mind when he heard that lyric.
"Like the women of the past where women were only meant to raise children and take care of the home," Bruno explained as though he had been reading his mind. "They were soft, demure, and unable to be outspoken." Regulus nodded in understanding. That was sort of how his cousin, Narcissa was treated in the Malfoy Family.
Bruno remembered that throughout his life, his Mamá telling him to "man up" to not cry as much as he did. However, he couldn't help it. It was who he was. He'd already cried twice and they were not even a quarter of the way through the verses.
What you have to speak
Makes us want to peek
Into what's making you feel bleak
The notion of sharing his thoughts and feelings with others felt embarrassing as well as abjectly horrifying. Who would want to hear what a man like him had to say? He was cold, taciturn, and seemingly unfeeling while everyone would hang onto Bruno's every word as he is his polar opposite, warm, responsive, and empathetic just as described in the pre-chorus.
Yet, Bruno also had difficulties expressing his feelings, but for different reasons. He felt the need to rush himself so that they could be out in the open. They came out in a messy torrent, and felt ashamed that even after all these years, he still was terrible at putting them into coherent words. But with time and practice, there was improvement every day.
Even if it takes well over a week
A single week wouldn't even scratch the surface of the trauma that Regulus had been through. The thought was nice though. If he ever gathered up the courage to share, then they would be very patient as he slowly opened up.
The Colombian man also deeply appreciated the thought of them waiting so long for him to share. To let him take his time to get his thoughts to where he made any semblance of order.
We hope that this song offers you some of the love that you seek
A warm, wide smile spread across the Latino's face. "I do feel loved," he said softly. It was working. They gave him words of love, promises of protection, and affirmations of every positive quality he had.
Regulus felt uncertain as he heard those same words. Were they meant for him as well? They seemed so sincere that maybe there were people out in the world who wouldn't care about his name or reputation to see him for himself. What an idea that was!
We'll tell the annoying people that they reek
A loud laugh interrupted his musings as Alice shared her next lyric. Regulus allowed a very tiny grin to appear on his face as he thought of all the different things Sirius might've done to escape the people that wanted to talk to him because he was next to be the head of the Black Family. Bruno's laugh revealed that he had something else in common with Sirius. He liked a good prank.
And away we'll sneak
Before they freak
Eek
Regulus thought that the idea was a great one. Run before anyone would be caught. That was the end of Alice's verse. She followed all of the girls before her with a curtsy and the presentation of a flower, Lucerne, and the continuation of the circle. It was Bruno's turn to look concerned. Regulus raised an eyebrow hesitantly. Bruno pointed to Regulus' fingers with his lips, to which Regulus looked at blankly.
"What he means is do they hurt?" Maid Marian asked. Understanding finally dawned on the British turned Russian's face.
