Chapter 3
Yi sat in her bedroom in front of the desk finishing her homework, then she dropped her pen so she could pick up the notebook to look at her answers. On the table, her kwami Longg sat on the girl's book admiring her doing, then noticed the smartphone beside the book vibrate as it received a message.
"Page 56 was the last one of today?" Asked the kwami watching the girl nod.
"Two pages only. I think I wouldn't mind doing a third one. The history of the World Health Organization would be quite interesting as well," Mentioned the Chinese girl making the kwami nod.
"Yes, I understand. At the moment I believe that you have done enough. You deserve to have a break," Commented Longg making Yi smile, then hold her hand out watching the kwami land on it, afterward the girl leaned the kwami against her cheek so she could let her hug her.
"Thank you," Commented Yi, then watched the phone vibrate again, after that the girl picked it up to see the messages which were both from Kagami.
"Today I saw Jin walking into a jewelry store. Jin came out with a small bag, and seemed quite amused,"
Yi smiled, then commented an emoji shrugging her shoulders. "He might want to gift someone something. I'm not sure if it's his mother. Her birthday is next month," Yi wrote down, then sent the message back to her friend and left her friend's chatbox to enter into her Facesstargram account to see she had received three notifications and opened them. One of them was personalized by the social media itself, which showed an image Yi was tagged on about a year ago, where she was out with Jin eating ice cream. Yi pressed the notification to open it, followed by the entrance of a new message, which came from Nathaniel Kurtzberg from the other class.
"I need your help. Onyx was locked up by an akuma and I need your help. Don't warn Ladybug, she's on her way. I'll be waiting on top of the Opera Garnier for you," Yi read out loud, while Longg listened to it.
"Your boyfriend is in danger," Commented Longg watching Yi nod, while re-reading the message again.
"Yes. There's just one thing about the message, that I find odd. Why is he expecting me to warn her?" Questioned Yi making Longg shrug his shoulders. "I'm sending a screenshot to Marinette….Just in case," Yi stated placing her finger on the side of her smartphone to make a snapshot, afterward she pressed on the option redirect and chose the name of the redheaded boy, and sent it away. "We're still leaving Longg, we don't know what is expecting us," Yi suggested making the kwami nod. "Longg, break the storm!" Yelled Yi transforming into the superheroine Hydra.
Onyx and Super Snake stood together on the roof setting together a table towel above a wooden box. Onyx observed the towel from all the edges, then adjusted the towel to be precise all around the box and looked up at Super Snake, which rolled his eyes up away from the table watching Onyx give the friend a thumb up.
"You sure you don't want to get something else to use as a chair?" Questioned the snake-themed superhero watching the cat miraculous holder shake his head.
"I don't think we need that," Responded Onyx. "Although it does sound like a good idea,"
"I can borrow you some from the living room as long as I get them back by the morning. My mom has got a night shift," Mentioned Super Snake making Onyx nod.
"Thank you. I just need the basket and place the cutlery, then I'm done," Spoke the raven-haired superhero making the redhead nod.
"Hydra is going to love it. She sure doesn't expect this call to be an invitation to a surprise dinner," Super Snake said making Onyx smile.
"I sure hope she does. You know, she's not really into too much romance stuff, so it makes it a little difficult to find the right balance," Mentioned Onyx looking down at their table. "This is why you don't see any candles or flowers on the table,"
"Funny, I would think, if I would want to ask any girl out on a date or something I could impress her with flowers. As it seems, there are also girls, that don't seem fond of that,"
"There you see it, not all girls are the same. At least when you get to know them closer," Onyx said opening the zipper of his pocket to take out a small box. "There are also things, you're not sure if she likes, but there are times your heart can tell you the right," The dark-clothed boy said watching Super Snake widen his eyes at seeing the box.
"You're going to propose to her?" Asked Nathaniel's alter ego surprised watching Onyx shake his head.
"No, no, no. This is just a necklace I got here," Corrected Onyx opening the box to reveal the silver-colored chain with a small, white animal on it with blue eyes. "It's a yeti,"
"It looks pretty. I'm sure she will like it," Mentioned Super Snake making Onyx nod. "Well, I better get going, before Hydra shows up,"
"Thanks, Super Snake," Said Onyx waving at his teammate, which ran over the roof and jumped down leaving the friend back on the roof. Onyx grabbed his basket, then opened it up to take out the cutlery and place it gently on both sides of the box, checking the exact distances from each other.
Marinette along with Alya sat on the chaise lounge watching together a comedy program, where two idols tried to act on a diagonally built stage their roles.
"You seriously haven't watched On Friday, everything's allowed with Artie?" Questioned Marinette watching her friend shake her head. "It's hilarious. I used to watch it on Saturday nights before going to bed with my parents. I was around 10 or 11 years old I think, the last time it aired on TV,"
"I do have to admit, that having certain idols or comedians set together really does work well, when it comes to them having to improvise. You really can see, that they're pros at what they do," Alya said, then watched one of the actors try to walk over the stage towards a desk, where the other actor sat talking and the man, who tried to get across the table kept sliding back, then repeated his task on walking up, then threw himself at the desk, making the sitting actor laugh, Alya began to laugh along with Marinette, afterward the man fell off the table sliding back on the ground towards the wall of the stage.
"This totally reminds me of Nino the other time at the gym classes, when hoping above the jump box," Alya commented earning a nod from Marinette, which had a big smile plastered on her face from both girls enjoying the show.
"Nino isn't as good as those idols there on stage, but I'm sure Nino would be funny to see there acting," Marinette commented. "Just imagine Kim, Ivan, and Alix up there. They would be doing a great job at entertaining,"
"You're right," Agreed the Martinic girl nodding at her best friend. "Both of us could give it a try as well. We won't be as good as Kim and Co. But we would be amusing in a way too,"
The duo kept looking at the computer screen to see a third person, which was a woman enter on screen too, then looked up at the desk, where the man sat, and tried to run up, calling for him.
"And as soon as his lover showed up. She got excited and ran her way towards the man," The moderator said while the woman on TV tried to hold herself on the edge of the table to put herself beside the man while the audience from the TV was laughing.
"Yes, that is one of the idols, that used to go to our school according to River. Her name is…."
"Clara….She's one of the singers, that won the song festival last year," Mentioned Marinette making Alya nod. "I heard she was akumatized once,"
"Yeah, into, what was her name? Frightningale?"
"I think so," Marinette answered pretending to be unaware of the correct name, afterward her smartphone on the table began to vibrate, making her curious then get up to pick it up, making Alya smirk.
"Is it Mr. Couffaine?" Asked Alya wiggling her eyebrows observing her friend look at the message with a smile, afterward it changed into a confused one. "Everything okay?"
"Oh, It's Yi…..I think she mistook my number for her mom's," Marinette made up reading the actual message of the Chinese girl, then responded to it.
"I didn't hear anything about it. I will ask Nathaniel myself," Marinette typed down, then looked for Nathaniel's phone number to call him. Before she pressed the button to call, she glimpsed at Alya, which was looking at the screen, then she looked up at the stairs leading to her balcony.
"I'll be up on the balcony. Yi wants to have a private conversation with me," Marinette mentioned making Alya tilt her head confused.
"Didn't you say, it was redirected to her mom?"
"Her…...autocorrect spelled my name wrong," Lied Marinette making Alya nod, then the blue-haired girl walked upstairs to get out of the bedroom to initiate a call with Nathaniel waiting for him to respond. Tikki appeared to look at her holder on the phone, afterward, it notified the girl, the owner of the other smartphone wasn't available. "Perhaps Nathaniel is busy or out working. But Yi is right at one point, why did he comment to not contact me? It's as if there's doing something behind my back and I can't know that," Commented Marinette watching the kwami shrug her shoulders.
"Do you think Onyx knows something?" Questioned Tikki watching Marinette shrug her shoulders, then slid on her calling list for Jin's number and pressed to call him. After almost a minute of hearing the dial tone, Marinette took her smartphone away with a confused face and looked up at Tikki.
"This is weird, Jin doesn't attend it either," Mentioned Marinette thoughtful about the situation, then looked down at Alya, which was occupied with the show, and looked up at her kwami. "I'm giving it a try as Ladybug, perhaps I can reach them this way," Marinette mentioned making the kwami nod. "Tikki, Spots on!" Yelled Marinette transforming into Ladybug, afterward she took her yo-yo to call Super Snake first to see, if she would catch him. "Finally! I had no idea you were in your Super Snake form,"
"Yes, Sorry, did you need something?"
"No, but Yi sent me a screenshot of a conversation between you two. You said, Onyx was locked up and her help was needed and to not warn Ladybug, 'cause I'm on my way. What did I miss?"
"Nothing bad, I swear! Onyx planned a picnic on the roof of the opera and wanted to surprise Hydra. He asked me for help and I sent her that message. I didn't think, she would send you the message anyway,"
"Oh is it the one he wanted to do for them being dating for a year? Luka spoke to me about Jin wanting to do something special for her,"
"Yes, it's this here. He's taking her to the top of the opera, cause he knows she likes that place very much, and according to him, it's a special place for the two, mostly their heroes side,"
"That's really sweet. You know the sentence about not warning Ladybug didn't sound quite trustworthy, so this is why Yi sent it to me,"
"I know. I didn't know exactly how to be convincing. I'm sorry if I worried you. We just want Yi to be surprised about the arrangement,"
"I'm sure she will like it," Commented Ladybug.
"Yes, I will keep patrolling around the city and maybe put my eyes on the two to see how they're doing,"
"Alright, have a nice evening," Wished Ladybug closing the yo-yo with a smile.
Hydra ran over the buildings beside the Louvre, then hoped to the next building facing a main road, that led to the opera, which was far away there at the end. Above the roof, Hydra spotted a coach passing on the road, giving Hydra the idea to take it. She jumped down to land on the last quarter of the bus and looked at the front to see the building got closer to her eyes, now, that she took the bus as a quicker ride. Hydra watched them pass by one bus stop, where she looked back curious, then took a glimpse aside to look at the vehicle to see it was a green, low-cost starliner, making Hydra raise her eyebrows understanding she had landed on a travel coach. Hydra observed the traffic lights in front of the coach turn red, then she looked at the light poles on the side of the road, afterward as the vehicle stopped, she jumped on top of the light signal to hop up on the light pole, thereafter she got up on the roof of the building to continue her way to the opera.
As she approached the place, she spotted by the statue on top of the highest roof the superhero Onyx hide beside it looking at the roof earning Hydra's attention.
"There he is," Hydra commented, then hopped at the next building, while focusing on her boyfriend, who just stood there. Hydra got bewildered at seeing the hero just stand there, afterward she had an idea and activated one of her elemental powers. "Wind Dragon!" Shouted Hydra materializing herself into a brize of air, then head quickly towards the direction of where the black-leather cat was.
Onyx observed the location from afar waiting for Hydra to appear sometime, then his cat ears moved aside as he heard something and he looked behind himself to hear the wind come towards him, making him gasp and Hydra turned back into herself, crashing against him making him fall down on his back.
"Whoa!" Both yelped as they had suffered the impact. Onyx saw Hydra had arrived, then had eye contact with her and gave her a sheepish grin.
"Surprise?" Spoke Onyx watching Hydra look at him confused, making him recognize that face, that signalized she had no idea, what was going on. "Get up, Yi. You're in the wrong place of the building," Onyx commented as Hydra got off Onyx's legs, then got up along with the raven-haired boy, which she helped up.
"Where do we have to go?" Questioned Hydra watching Onyx take her hand.
"Don't worry, it's right over there," Onyx commented walking her up to the top of the roof, then Hydra looked at the middle of the roof, where the roof had over a rectangular-shaped part of the roof the table set by Onyx with two pillows set as a seat. On the table lied a sheet with a stone on it, fasten the sheet on the table to keep it from flying.
"That looks like a table," Hydra commented earning a nod from Onyx, which stopped and looked back at the girlfriend.
"I saw this morning that one picture we made together about a year ago at the Seine, when eating ice. I thought about, that we could have a little date night to like…...celebrate our union," Onyx explained. "It's not much, it was a last-minute plan, but I felt like the idea needed to be done, even if it's just a few little things," Onyx explained walking Hydra over the rim of the roof towards the place the table was set and Hydra now could see the sheet, that was on the table was their menu, which was written by a large Arial font.
"And that's, what's on our table tonight?" Questioned Hydra looking at the menu earning a nod from Onyx.
"There's more on the back. The dinner is from a takeaway restaurant nearby. I thought, if I would get it quickly from here the meal wouldn't get cold that fast," Onyx commented watching Hydra read out loud the menu.
"breaded chicken breast with rice and mixed veggies. Hot hibiscus tea…..sounds interesting. You've got all that here?" Questioned Hydra watching Onyx take farther away from their platform under another platform from the roof a picnic basket and placed it on top of the table, then opened the basket to reveal the packed-up meals inside aluminum-made Tupperware.
"Have you read the note on the back of the sheet?" Questioned Onyx watching Hydra shake her head and turn it around to check it out.
"Happy one anniversary, Yi. We know each other since we were kids and have been good friends since ever. Never have I expected, that we both would one day be together like this. One thing I know is, that since we're together I'm more solicitous and self-assured about, who I am as I used to be. The best thing about being with you is knowing, that we know each other for so long and can talk with each other, whenever we have issues, including the most delicate details, no one else knows. I love you with every living fiber of my being and will be always there for you both emotionally and physically," Hydra read, then glimpsed up enamored at her boyfriend, which leaned himself on the box.
"It's not the best love letter and I know you're not into kitsch. I still wanted to show you somehow how much you meant to me," The cat miraculous holder explained making Hydra smile and embrace the boyfriend tight.
"Thank you, Jin," Said Hydra leaning her face beside his, making Onyx smile and wrap his arms around the girlfriend and leaning his chin over his head, seconds later he began to purr making Hydra wide her eyes followed by himself. "I'm starting to think, you do that on purpose, every time we get this close as heroes,"
"I swear, I'm not really doing that. This only seems to happen, when I let myself get carried away by this sort of affection," Commented Onyx making Hydra chuckle and move away from the hero's arms.
"Alright. I think we better get started with the dinner, otherwise, it will be cold," Mentioned Hydra making Onyx nod, then lead the girl down with his arm, so she would sit down on the pillow.
Super Snake sat on top of the new concert hall drawing on a sketching pad, listening to the sound coming from the inside of the building. While he sat on the building tapping with his right foot to the rhythm enjoying the indie rock-like genre. Super Snake cached the sketch of his superhero OC, then looked across the area of the Seguin island to see the fully visited restaurant in front of the modern hall. Super Snake held the tablet under his arm, then slid down off the building to make his way toward the restaurant.
Upon getting there, he spotted on the outside a large crowd of people sitting in company dining enjoying the nightlife, that had started a little while ago. Super Snake stepped back from the area to distance himself from the crowd due to being used to a calmer ambient. Super Snake moved further to the parking spot to get to the main road spotting a sports car arrive, then turn into the parking area, where he was then he was flashed by the vehicle, to which he responded back with a wave. At the end of the parking area, Super Snake stood back looking at the location, afterward saw from the bridge crossing the Seine river a car driving slightly fast, than allowed making Super Snake frown at the irresponsible deed. Super Snake ran closer to the parked cars to make his way towards the end of the road to put an eye on the car and when reaching the end, he caught the vehicle turn around missing the driver but noticed the vehicle had the sign of the embassy making Super Snake raise his eyebrows curious.
"What is going on?" Questioned Super Snake, then crossed the road to go to the road junction the vehicle had passed to see the driver had already vanished, making Super Snake scratch his head. "Was that Lila's mom?" Questioned the redhead confused.
Onyx and Hydra sat together around the box eating the dinner, they had from the takeaway restaurant Onyx mentioned a while ago, and were nearly done with their plate. Hydra did a short break from her dinner to listen to the louder getting orchestra from the opera they were sitting on top of, earning Onyx's attention who was chewing on a scoop of peas.
"Can you recognize the music here?" Questioned Hydra looking at Onyx swallowing down his meal.
"I didn't read exactly, what was written on the board at the entrance, but it seemed like a really young lady. I'd say 22 maybe?" The raven-haired boy commented watching Hydra smile with joy about hearing the louder getting instruments. "You definitely know her, right?" Questioned Onyx watching Hydra shake her head. "Oh okay, I thought you could,"
"No, but it's really catchy for me," Admitted Hydra taking the last piece of her meat, leaving back on her plate a bit of rice only, and got up to waltz by herself. Onyx admired his girlfriend dance on her own noticing she was enjoying it on solo as well. The older team member got up upon the orchestra getting silent, only letting the duo hear the cars ride around the quarter. Onyx watched Hydra do a spin, afterward, he moved his hand up to catch hers and help her spin around, then Onyx positioned his hands down for the girlfriend to land in position with the raven-haired boy for a dance. Onyx rolled his eyes aside signaling the heroine about moving on, thereafter Hydra took the lead to waltz along with her boyfriend over the top of the roof, followed by the orchestra music getting louder, followed by the voice of the female singer. The couple rotated together getting in sync with each other following the melodia. Onyx laughed amused at being led by his girlfriend, in the end, he had an idea and moved his arms down to pick the girlfriend by the sides of her waist to pull her up in the air, swinging her around gently making her laugh and stretch her arms aside like a bird enjoying their little dance interlude. Onyx dropped Hydra on her feet gently, chuckling about their act, and moved his forehead forward as the girl leaned her forehead against his for affection.
"If I had planned a dance act, I would have brought my step shoes," Joked Onyx making Hydra shake her head at her boyfriend's lame joke.
"I don't think you'll need tha….." Hydra spoke, followed by car honks interrupting the duo's conversation. Both looked down at the road to see two cars had crashed and an oddly dressed person with long legs stood in front of the cars looking back at them. Onyx and Hydra exchanged looks with one another, then Onyx slid down the roof to take a better look at the person, then recognized the person reminded him of a fictional superheroine.
"That looks like rubberband-woman," Commented Onyx making Hydra nod.
"You sure she's a villain?" Questioned Hydra watching the person stretch her arms to grab a foreign car to throw it behind her at another vehicle, which had begun honking before their speech. "Oh oh," Murmured Hydra watching Onyx flinch his teeth surprised at how strong the person was using her powers.
"Okay, looks like we've got an akuma to fight," Commented Onyx taking out his staff to use it as a phone, then searched for Super Snake's number to call him. "Super, it's an emergency, I think we've found an akuma. We witnessed how he threw a car against another one. Can you come here to the opera?"
"Sure, shall I call Ladybug?"
"If possible, otherwise she will get on her own here," Onyx commented, hearing Super Snake respond back and turn off the call. "Okay, we gotta end our date a little early and…."
"Take down Miss stretchy," Added Hydra making Onyx nod, afterward he extended his staff and held his hand out to help her jump down off the building to go into the fight.
