Dean and Alina stayed in the car for a few hours, silently reading, until they decided to get back in the room when the sun started to rise. They found a sleeping Sam on the bed, and obviously did their best to not wake him up. Alina didn't like the idea of him getting another nightmare, but she also knew that in their line of job, rest was important. Even if it was just a couple of hours every two days. And Sam hadn't slept in a long time.
Dean went back on his chair next to the window, while Alina sat on the other bed she was supposed to share with him. They hadn't slept throughout the entire night, but they'd spent most of it next to each other anyway. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for Sam to wake up after their return. And once again, he looked startled enough for Alina to have to resist the urge of hugging him.
"Why'd you let me fall asleep?" The youngest Winchester asked his brother and his friend in a grumpy tone.
"Cause I'm an awesome brother, and Alina a pretty decent friend."
"You're a pretty decent jerk." She replied, tempted to throw one of the pillows at him.
Dean gave her a mocking face, then went back to his brother's nightmare. "So what did you dream about?"
Alina already knew what was coming before it even came out of Sam's mouth. "Lollipops and candy canes."
She smiled at him sadly, wanting nothing more than to help him. And yet she had to respect his boundaries because she was convinced that one day, he'd tell her everything. "Sounds fun." She simply said to let him know she wouldn't ask for more, getting a faint smile from her friend.
"Yeah, sure." They heard Dean mumble behind them and chose to ignore him.
"Did you find anything?" Sam changed the subject.
"Oh besides a whole new level of frustration, and Alina's comedy talents? No. We've looked at everything. A few local women, a Laura and a Catherine committed suicide in front of a mirror, and a giant mirror fell on a guy named Dave, but...no Mary."
Alina annoyingly glanced at Dean for his little comment about her jokes, while Sam fell back on the bed with a big sigh. "Maybe we just haven't found it yet."
"I've also been searching for strange deaths in the area, you know...eyeball bleeding, that sort of thing. There's nothing. Whatever's happening here, maybe it just ain't Mary."
"Or maybe you're just as bad at reading as I am at humor?" Alina sarcastically answered, making the eldest sibling throw a paper ball at her.
Alina and Dean were as always about to start a new childish fight, when Sam's phone interrupted them. They watched as Sam answered the call, and quickly looked concerned about what the person calling was telling him.
So without having any time to rest, the three hunters drove to the nearest park where they met with Donna Shoemaker's friend, Charlie. The girl to whom Sam had given his phone number, was now crying on a bench because of her friend's death the night before. Alina was sitting next to her with an arm around the crying girl to comfort her, while Dean was sitting on the back of the bench, and Sam standing right next to it. They were listening to what had happened to the girl who also died on her bathroom floor, with her eyes gone.
"And she said it." Charlie stuttered a little. "I heard her say it. But it couldn't be because of that. I'm insane, right?"
The hunters shared the same look, knowing exactly what she was talking about.
"No, you're not insane." Dean reassured her.
"Oh God, that makes me feel so much worse."
Alina wrapped her arm tighter around her. "I know, but trust me feeling insane does not make you feel safer."
"Look..." Sam tried to find the best way to tell her truth without freaking her out even more. "We think something's happening here. Something that can't be explained."
"And we're gonna stop it but we could use your help." Dean added to get the girl to calm down.
And that is how Alina and the brothers, arrived in the backyard of the new victim, ready to climb to her bedroom's window. Sam was the first to go, and once he made sure the path was clear, Alina put her bag on her shoulder and started to get closer to the drainpipe. She hadn't even put her hands on it yet when Dean came to stop her. "Need help?"
She smiled and turned her head to the side, staring at his really close face. "I once slid down a drainpipe only wearing underwears and carrying a shotgun. So I think I'll be able to do this by myself, but thanks." She then kissed his cheek playfully and started to climb.
Dean thought for a moment about how adorable she's looked the previous night when she was laughing in the car, and chuckled at her attitude now. That woman really had two sides to her personality, and even if he couldn't admit it to himself, he was completely into both.
Once they all got near the window, Charlie arrived soon to open it and let them in. They quickly threw their bags on the bed to go through it.
"What did you tell Jill's mom?" Sam asked Charlie.
"Just that I needed some time alone with Jill's pictures and things. I hate lying to her."
Dean shut the curtains. "Trust us, this is for the greater good. Hit the lights."
The girl instantly turned off the light, making Alina roll her eyes at her obedience. And yet, she could understand that women could feel intimidated by Dean's pretty face. She was just lucky to be an exception.
Sam was about to ask for Dean's help to turn the night vision on the digital camera in his hands, but Alina was faster to do it for him instead. He smiled and nodded at her before aiming the camera at Dean, who obviously noticed it. He slightly turned his back to the camera, still looking at it. "Do I look like Paris Hilton?"
Sam didn't really react as he simply walked away, so Alina leaned over the bed to face the disappointed Dean. "Trust me, you're way sexier than Paris Hilton."
Dean was glad that someone was actually paying attention to his jokes and smiled at that like a proud kid. Also flattered by the compliment.
They then went back to their job and started to investigate the room, while Sam was taking a look at the closet. "So I don't get it. I mean...the first victim didn't summon Mary, and the second victim did. How's she choosing them?"
"Beats me." Dean answered before Sam closed the closet door behind him.
"I want to know why Jill said it in the first place." Dean asked the victim's friend who was on the phone with her right before her death.
"It's just a joke."
"Yeah well somebody's gonna say it again, it's just a matter of time."
"Which is obviously why we're here." Alina said to reassure the scared girl.
"Hey." They all turned to look at Sam. "There's a black light in the trunk, right?"
Dean was about to go out, but the moment he passed by Alina she put her hand on his chest to stop him with a smirk. "Hold on Paris." She went to her bag and proudly took the black light out of it to give it to him. "Whatever would you guys do without me?"
He winked at her, and turned around the moment Sam came back in the room, carrying the mirror out, and laying it upside down on the bed. Dean threw him the black light, and after peeling off the paper on the back of the mirror, the young hunter used the light to reveal a handprint, and a name behind it.
"Gary Bryman?" Charlie read.
"You know who that is?"
"No."
Dean helped Sam putting the mirror back on the bathroom's wall. They were done when Alina walked in and was about to talk, but got stopped by her own reflection in the same mirror. She froze at the girl standing in front of her. It was her, and at the same time, it wasn't. She couldn't tell why she was feeling that way, until her reflection's head tilted on the side like it couldn't understand either the one facing the mirror. The reflection frowned in sudden anger, and was about to lift her hand when Dean's face appeared in front of the young woman.
Alina blinked twice, and shook her head as she noticed that Dean was now worriedly standing between her and the mirror, with his hands on her shoulders like he had been trying to get her attention by shaking her for a moment now. "Frenchy? You there?"
"Where else would I be?" She replied, confused. "What happened?"
Dean finally let his hands fall from her shoulders and took a step back to give her some space.
Sam came to stand next to his brother to also get a closer look at his friend. "You were like…gone for a few seconds. Did you see something?"
"I don't know I…that was weird."
"What?" Dean interrogated her, still concerned about her safety. "What was weird? Did you see…her?"
"No I don't think so…I haven't slept last night my mind's probably playing tricks on me right now. I mean…"
She looked away from the boys, facing the mirror once again, only finding her usual reflection copying every one of her moves. Had she just hallucinated the whole thing? Or was it like a vision? No. Why on earth would she have a vision? But the uneasiness she was still feeling, reminded her of the Lake Manitoc case. Something was wrong.
But she decided to ignore that until they'd be able to find a decent clue on their current job. They were running out of time, she couldn't think about herself at the moment. Once she was done reassuring the boys, they all left the house and headed to the local library. This time, they had a name so Sam and Alina both went inside to do some quick researches, while Dean was waiting outside on a bench with Charlie. But it was obvious that he was still worried about Alina, turning back to see if his friend and his brother were coming back every ten seconds.
Charlie noticed it, and decided to make some conversation while waiting for the other two. "So how long have you guys been dating?"
Her question surprised the boy, ready to turn around once again when she asked it. "Dating? Dating who?"
"I…I thought you and Alina…" Charlie clearly felt embarrassed by her mistake. "I'm sorry…"
Dean realized how his reaction had affected the already fragile girl, and regretted it. He wasn't good at this kind of things, but he tried anyway. "No it's okay. I mean…Alina and I are friends. Great friends. We've known each other forever and…you know she's a friend."
Even if it sounded more like he was trying to convince himself, Charlie simply nodded and looked back down. Dean was definitely losing patience.
"Hey." Alina's voice behind him almost made him jump from the bench. "You're not gonna like what we found." She announced as she stopped right next to the bench, and Sam went to sit on the other side of Charlie.
The two friends informed them of their discovery. Gary Bryman was an 8-year-old boy who had died two years ago in a hit and run. Nobody got the plates or saw the driver, but the description of the car, a black Toyota Camry, made Charlie cringe and tell them that her friend Jill drove that car.
With this new information, they went back to Donna Shoemaker's house to inspect the back of the mirror in front of which her father had died. Using the black light, they found once again a handprint on it, and the name Linda Shoemaker.
A pretty upset Donna informed them that Linda was her mom, and that she had overdosed on sleeping pills by accident. And so they had figured out the pattern. They left Charlie at Donna's so she could take care of her friend, reminding her not to say 'the thing', and went back to the motel.
Alina was in the bathroom, finishing to get dressed after a hot shower. She could hear the boys on the other side of the door talking about Dean making a nationwide search, since they hadn't found anything in local reports related to a Mary. The young woman had already put her shorts on when she noticed her shirt laying on the ground, in a puddle formed by a water leak. She wasn't surprised by the motel room quality, but she was angry at herself for not being more careful with her stuff in a place like this one. She missed the comfort of her house back in France in moments like that, but she enjoyed even more spending time with the Winchesters, so she let it go. In fact, she got saved from another towel exhibition, by Dean's clothes on the side of the sink.
She didn't even think twice before taking the green shirt he'd worn the entire day, and putting it on. It was way too large for her. The sleeves used to the strong arms of Dean Winchester, were floating around her arms, and her breast succeeded to lift up the shirt just enough so that it would reveal a tiny part of the shorts underneath it. This wasn't her first time wearing a man's shirt, yet it somehow felt different. This one smelled like Dean. The so attractive smell of leather and motor oil. Alina touched the fabric for a short moment, not realizing she was smiling until she saw herself in the mirror. She looked like a teenage girl, getting to wear her crush's jacket for the first time. That was ridiculous. So she quickly decided to get her hands busy with her hair. Grabbing them in frustration, she lifted them up to tie them into a ponytail, stopping in the middle of the process when she looked back in the mirror.
Her reflection was different, again. Her arms were still in the air, but in the mirror, they were back along side her body. Her hair were untied, and she was wearing the same clothes as the first time this had happened to her. She let her hair fall back on her shoulders and walked straight towards the mirror angrily. "What do you want?" She asked without a hint of fear in the voice. "Clearly you don't wanna kill me 'cause my eyes haven't exploded yet, so what do you want from me?"
Just like earlier, her reflection tilted her head in confusion, and in the blink of an eye, she was gone. The Alina in the mirror was now wearing Dean's green shirt again, and looked as annoyed as she felt. Why did spirits enjoy visiting her so often in the bathroom? It was as if they were attracted to her.
But why her? She couldn't help but think about what the demon that had possessed Chris, told her on the third day of keeping her captive. She thought he was lying, because that's what demons do. But maybe he was right after all, maybe something was wrong with her.
The brothers voices on the other side of the door reminded her that she was in the middle of a job. She couldn't tell the Winchesters about these visions. They weren't as protective of her as much as they were the first time a spirit tried to attack her, and she wanted to keep things the way they were. She didn't think she was in actual danger right now, if Mary wanted to kill her she'd already be lying on the floor with two missing eyes.
So after tying her hair up and practicing her fake natural face in the mirror for a few more seconds, she walked out of the bathroom and went straight to her bag. "You're up Sammy."
Sam was focused on the multiple clues pinned to the wall, when he heard Alina say his name. "What? Oh, right. Thanks." He smiled at her, took a last glance at the wall, and grabbed his clothes to enter the bathroom. He was always the last one to get access to the shower, since he didn't mind letting Dean and Alina fighting for the first place every time they came back to their motel room.
Dean kept staring at the computer when Alina came to sit next to him, taking a closer look at the pictures he'd printed. "So what do we got here?" She asked, holding the photo of a woman's body, lying in a puddle of blood by a mirror.
"Mary Worthington. An unsolved murder in Fort Wayne, Indiana."
Alina grabbed another picture of a bloody handprint and the letters 'Tre' written under it. It was similar to the ones they'd found behind the mirrors of the two victims. "Then I guess that's where we're going tomorrow."
Dean nodded and finally turned his head to look at her. His eyes instantly fell on the familiar green shirt she was wearing. It was way too large for her, but she still looked way to hot in it. Alina finished inspecting the pictures and put them down when she noticed Dean's little smirk. "Are you that excited to visit Fort Wayne, Winchester?"
His eyes met hers, and he didn't even noticed that he was licking his lower lip before letting out a chuckle. "Frenchy, are you wearing my shirt?"
The young woman had already forgotten about that small detail, after the events that had occurred in the bathroom. She had to look down at herself to understand what he was talking about, and smiled with him. "Yes I am. Mine got all soaked thanks to that stupid leak. You want it back?"
Dean was used to see women wearing his clothes after he'd undressed them himself. But for some reason, Alina looked way more attractive wearing his shirt in a completely different scenario. And the fact that she felt comfortable enough to put it on without asking for his permission was even more sexy. Dean couldn't understand why he was thinking those things about Alina. His friend. Yes, they'd kissed once, they were constantly flirting jokingly, he'd spent his entire life caring for her, and she clearly cared just as much for him and his little brother. But she was just a friend. She was Sam's best friend. She was amazing in every way possible. And she was his friend.
"Winchester?" Alina waved her hand in front of his face to bring him back to reality. "If you really want it back, I'll just…"
"No." He stopped her by shaking his head and turning back to the computer. "Keep it on, you look good in it."
She smiled proudly and stood up. "Of course I do. I look good in everything and nothing." And she went to sit on their bed to grab her dagger on the nightstand, and play with it by throwing the weapon in the air repetitively. That was one of her techniques to make herself fall asleep after a long day.
She was glad that the brothers hadn't noticed anything when she came out of the bathroom. If they had, they would've asked her if she was okay until she would eventually tell them she wasn't.
THE NEXT DAY
The hunters paid a visit to the detective in charge of Mary Worthington murder back in the day, pretending to be reporters. They already knew that Mary was 19, lived by herself, and was killed in her apartment by an intruder on the night of March 29th, with both her eyes cut out with a knife.
What they learned with the detective, was that the three letters written on the mirror by Mary with her own blood, could've been the poor girl's last attempt to spell out the name of her killer. The detective pulled out a picture of his prime suspect, a local surgeon named Trevor Sampson. He could never prove that he was the killer, because the man had been meticulous with prints and witnesses. But Mary had mentioned a man she was seeing in her diary, using only his initial, T, and she was about to tell T's wife about their affair when she got murdered. And the most suspicious detail, was the way her eyes were cut out almost professionally.
But since Trevor Sampson was dead, and Mary's body was cremated, their last clue had to be the mirror, that had been returned to the victim's family a long time ago.
"Oh really? Ah that's too bad Mr. Worthington." The hunters were back on the road, Sam on his cell phone. "I would have paid a lot for that mirror. Okay, well maybe next time. All right, thanks." He hung up, getting interrogative looks from next and behind him. "So that was Mary's brother. The mirror was in the family for years, until he sold it one week ago to a store called Estate Antiques. A store in Toledo."
Everything made sense now.
"So wherever the mirror goes, that's where Mary goes?" Dean concluded.
"Her spirit's definitely tied up with it somehow."
"It must've been captured inside the mirror after her death." Alina said. "That's why people usually cover up the mirrors in a house when someone dies."
"Yeah but how could she move through like a hundred different mirrors?" Sam added in confusion.
"It's pretty easy. I got stuck inside a mirror once by that Bitchy Witch. There's like a whole different dimension in there that looks like a giant carnival house of mirrors…"
"Hold on." Dean stopped her. "You were stuck in a mirror?"
"That's what I said. And I threw up on my mom's new shoes the moment I came out of there."
"What about the witch?" Sam asked.
"Well I guess she's still stuck in that tiny mirror I buried in the middle of the woods."
The brothers both smiled at her response, not surprised of her accurate revenge. She was good at teaching lessons.
Dean then came back to their current job. "So if the mirror is the source, I say we find it and smash it."
"Yeah, I don't know, maybe." Sam replied, just as convinced as Alina about the easiness of this plan. But they weren't able to elaborate on it, since Sam's cell phone rang once again. "Hello? Charlie?"
LATER
Back at the motel with Charlie, the hunters were done covering every reflecting surfaces in the room, and shutting all the curtains, when they sat on the sides of the bed to reassure the scared girl sitting in the middle of it. Apparently, Donna had said the words when they were at school, in front of the bathroom mirror. And now Mary was targeting her friend.
"All right Charlie. We need to know what happened." Dean told her in its most calming voice.
"We were in the bathroom. Donna said it."
"That's not what we're talking about. Something happened, didn't it? In your life...a secret...where someone got hurt. Can you tell us about it?"
Alina wasn't a big fan of invading people's privacy like that, but she agreed with Dean on this one. They had to know if they wanted to help her. So she waited with the brothers, until the girl finally told them everything in tears.
"I had this boyfriend. I loved him. But he kind of scared me too, you know? And one night, at his house, we got in this fight. Then I broke up with him, and he got upset, and he said he needed me and he loved me, and he said 'Charlie, if you walk out that door right now, I'm gonna kill myself.' And you know what I said? I said 'Go ahead.' And I left… How could I say that? How could I leave him like that? I just...I didn't believe him, you know? I should have."
LATER
Alina, Dean, and Sam were driving in the rain, towards the place where the mirror was kept. The young woman was sitting on the backseat, listening to her friends.
"You know her boyfriend killing himself, that's not really Charlie's fault."
"You know as well as I do spirits don't exactly see shades of gray, Dean. Charlie had a secret, someone died, that's good enough for Mary."
"I guess."
That was the one thing Alina couldn't understand. She had a secret about Chris' death, and even if she hadn't called Mary, she'd seen her in two different mirrors. So why was Mary so interested in her, if it wasn't to kill her?
"You know, I've been thinking. It might not be enough to just smash that mirror." Sam pointed out.
"Why, what do you mean?"
"Well Mary's hard to pin down, right? I mean she moves around from mirror to mirror so who's to say that she's not just gonna keep hiding in them forever? So maybe we should try to pin her down, you know, summon her to her mirror and then smash it."
"Yeah I think we should that too." Alina agreed. They couldn't take the risk of missing their only opportunity.
"Well who's gonna summon her?" Dean interrogated them, already knowing the answer when Sam gave it to him.
"I will. She'll come after me."
Alina was about to say something, but Dean was faster. "You know what, that's it." He angrily pulled the car over to completely turn to his brother. He was tired of seeing Sam like that, and Alina had also reached the point where she was more concerned about his safety, than his privacy. So she didn't stop Dean.
"This is about Jessica, isn't it? You think that's your dirty little secret that you killed her somehow? Sam, this has got to stop, man. I mean, the nightmares and calling her name out in the middle of the night…it's gonna kill you. Now listen to me. It wasn't your fault. If you wanna blame something, then blame the thing that killed her. Or hell, why don't you take a swing at me? I mean I'm the one that dragged you away from her in the first place."
"I don't blame you."
"Well you shouldn't blame yourself, because there's nothing you could've done."
"I could've warned her."
"About what? You didn't know what was gonna happen! And besides, all of this isn't a secret, I mean I know all about it. It's not gonna work with Mary anyway."
"No you don't."
"I don't what?"
"You don't know all about it. I haven't told you everything."
Aline, who had remained silent until now, couldn't keep herself from asking the question Dean was about to ask. "What are you talking about?"
"Well it wouldn't really be a secret if I told you, would it?"
His friend was getting even more concerned about him. She couldn't let him put himself in danger. If he did have a secret about Jessica's death, just like her with Chris' death, he'd inevitably become Mary's next victim if he summoned her. And Dean had the same fear. "No. I don't like it. It's not gonna happen, forget it."
"Dean that girl back there is going to die unless we do something about it. And you know what? Who knows how many more people are gonna die after that? Now we're doing this. You've got to let me do this."
Alina had to agree with him about one thing, there was an innocent to save. They couldn't waste anymore time. "Dean we need to go now."
Dean let out a long frustrated sigh before he started the engine and continued to drive. Alina let herself fall back on her seat with her eyes closed, refusing to let Sam turn himself into a bait. She'd seen Mary twice ever since she started to work on this job, so her only hope was that once Sam would be done summoning her, the spirit would choose her instead.
Once they got to the closed shop, Sam easily picked the lock on the door, and they all shared the same annoyed look when they found the numerous mirrors inside. It wasn't going to be an easy task. "Well...that's just great." Dean complained and pulled out the picture of Mary's dead body to look at her mirror. "All right let's start looking."
They split up and walked around the store. Alina was aiming her flashlight at each of her reflections to make sure they were moving at the same time she was. The place was dark and silent, which made the research a little more unsettling.
"Maybe they've already sold it." Dean suggested after a few minutes of researching.
"I don't think so."
Sam's answer made the other two walk over to him and the mirror he had found. Dean pulled out the picture once again to compare the mirrors. "That's it." He sighed, not sure if that was good or bad news. "You sure about this?" He asked Sam who simply handed him his flashlight.
"Sam?" Alina called him to make him look at her, and did her best to hide her fear behind a smile. "We won't let it hurt you."
Sam nodded, clearly not convinced by her fake smile, but still thankful for her attempt at calming his anxiety. He then turned back to the mirror and concentrated. "Bloody Mary…Bloody Mary." He looked back at his brother and his friends who didn't seem sure about this either. Alina picked up his crowbar, gave it to him, and put her hand on his shoulder to support him. "Bloody Mary."
They waited for something to happen, almost holding their breath with anticipation. But the only thing that was able to grab their attention, was a sudden light behind them coming through the store. A car.
"I'll go check that out." Dean said. "Stay here, be careful. Smash anything that moves." And just like that he was gone, crawling away towards the front door with his own crowbar.
"Okay…" Alina put her back against Sam's, watching every corner of the room he couldn't see. "Let's do this Wonder Twin."
She heard him scoffing slightly at her comment, when a sudden breath grabbed their attention back. They both turned to check the mirror next to them, hearing Mary once again in a different mirror. Sam finally saw her out of the corner of his eye, and smashed the mirror. She went into another one, and this time it was Alina's turn to spot her and smash the mirror into pieces.
They were now back at their initial position, when Alina felt like something wasn't right. The moment she heard Sam falling to the ground, she turned around and saw her reflection in the mirror, smiling at her friend's agonizing figure at her feet. Sam's eyes were bleeding, and Alina was completely terrified by her sadistic reflection, enjoying the sight of her friend in so much pain.
But then, she heard her own voice joyfully say one single sentence. "You won't save him, just like you didn't save Chris!"
Alina's blood was boiling at the words, and blinded by her rage, she lifted her crowbar and threw it right into the mirror with a furious groan. Smashing it into little pieces.
She was panting when her vision got back to normal, allowing her to see Dean rushing back to them, and bending down to the floor to grab Sam's face in his hands. "Sam, Sammy!"
Alina looked at him worriedly. Had she taken too long to react?
"It's Sam."
As she heard him correct his brother, she let out a sigh of relief and crouched next to Dean to get a closer look at Sam. There was a lot of blood on his cheeks. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah..."
"Come on, come on." Dean pulled Sam up, and put one of his arms over his neck, while Alina was doing the same with his other arm. They began to help him walk out, until another strange sound behind them, forced them to turn around. They saw Mary, out of the mirror, crawling over the broken glass to approach them. Alina was dragged to the ground when the Winchesters both fell with their eyes starting to bleed from the sight of Mary's face. And yet, Alina didn't seemed to be affected. She didn't know why, or how, but this was her chance to help the boys. So she quickly jumped in front of her friends to protect them, grabbed a mirror next to her and raised it in the air so that Mary was forced to see her own reflection.
Once hit by her own curse, Mary started to choke to death, and finally melted into a pile of blood. Aline threw down the mirror she had in her hands, causing it to shatter where the spirit had disappeared. The young woman was exhausted, but she still hurriedly turned to the brothers. "Guys? Are you okay?" She quickly took their hands, and smiled when they both held hers back tightly.
"Why don't you listen, Frenchy?"
She gave him a confused look, since she couldn't understand why he seemed mad at her.
"Facing a vengeful spirit alone to protect us… You need to stop doing that."
Alina smiled again, maybe even more. "But I'm so good at it." She then let herself fall completely to the ground to rest for a bit next to them.
"Hey…guys?" Dean asked again.
Sam replied this time. "Yeah?"
"This has got to be like...what? 600 years of bad luck?"
Alina took another look at all the shattered glass on the floor. She heard Sam chuckle weakly, and she simply shook her head in despair. "It would definitely be bad luck if the universe made us live 600 years in that crapy world."
LATER
The hunters watched Charlie as she got out of the Impala, parked in front of her house. Alina was glad they were able to help her.
"Charlie?" Everyone turned to Sam, after he surprisingly called her before she could reach the front door. "Your boyfriend's death...you really should try to forgive yourself. No matter what you did, you probably couldn't have stopped it. Sometimes bad things just happen."
Charlie smiled at him faintly, then turned around to go back home. Dean gently hit Sam once she was far enough. "That's good advice."
Alina thought so too, but it also reminded her that she had a new problem. She had a secret. She was responsible for Chris getting possessed by that demon. She knew she could never forgive herself for that, and yet, she hadn't been affected by the spirit's power. Even after Mary had left the mirror, and was able to hurt Dean and Sam. That explained why nothing had happened to her when she'd seen Mary two times before their last encounter. For whatever reason, this spirit couldn't hurt her and that was terrifying. What made her different from the others?
"Hey Sam?" Dean's voice brought her back to reality, and she realized that they were on the road again, ready to leave the town. "Now that this is all over, I want you to tell me what that secret is."
And he was already back to his insistent self. Alina knew he wouldn't be able to stay silent about this. Sure, she wanted Sam to feel comfortable enough to tell them about his secret, but she also couldn't ask this from him, when she was hiding things from them too.
"Look...you're my brother and I'd die for you, but there are some things I need to keep to myself."
Alina looked at him sadly. It almost felt like they were cursed. They couldn't love without losing. And they couldn't live without fighting. They had to deal with their past, while searching for their parents, and worrying for everyone else but themselves.
I'm sick! This is what I get for being a bridesmaid during a rainy wedding and having one umbrella for five girls! So yeah…I don't know if that chapter was good enough. I've been sick for days but I didn't want to let you guys wait too long for the second part, so maybe the correction isn't perfect, Again, I'm sorry.
But I can't wait to post episode 6, aka my favorite season 1 episode, aka SHAPESHIFTER DEAN!
Until then, have a nice day/night! Love u guys!
