Chapter 17
"Not again!" Complained Hawk Moth throwing his cane down at the ground, while behind him Silver stood looking at him, then began to cough, while clapping her hand in front of her chest. "How could this happen?"
"I'm sorry," Apologized Mrs. Rossi as she coughed, then she got normal afterward and eyes the supervillain. "As I told him to take control of the TV channels he stopped listening to me and did the rest on his own,"
"This boy was the perfect victim. If he had a much larger range towards the technologies around Paris or even France, this…...this would definitely give the heroes so much to do and no chance to go through. Just a few minor changes and we would have gotten the miraculouses,"
"Perhaps we're going to be lucky with our next victim. We just gotta think about something more…...challenging for the heroes…." Commented Silver starting to cough again, earning Hawk Moth's attention, which observed the woman bow down while coughing. Hawk Moth got neutral, knowing well, that the cons of the broke miraculous were beginning to show by the Italian woman as well.
"You better get going. You…...you know my sign," Mentioned Hawk Moth grabbing the miraculous of the woman to take it off watching her transform back into herself. "Return back home," Ordered the villain watching the woman make her way out of the hideout, leaving the man back a little unsure about their future.
By the exit of the restricted area of the airport stood the superheroes being led by a security man to the outside of the zone, where they encountered a crowd of people altogether with a cameraman and a journalist, which was being recorded for TV.
"Here's River Langerak live from le Bourget. Half of Paris has been down for almost an hour due to an akuma attack. Several technical devices from smartphones, computers, ATM's and any other object from our daily life have been blocked by the akuma's power. Many different stories from various citizens have been heard about the situation. The superheroes had taken a time-out from their search for the akuma to help down two airplanes, that needed to land immediately, but due to the lost contact with the tower, caused by the akuma they had to be on their own for a while. As we see behind the fence far away, there's the plane the heroes assisted in going down. Right there by the gate, we see the superheroes Onyx, Hydra, Super Snake, Camouflage, and Miss Vixen. Perhaps we can have a few words with them," The brunette spoke into the camera, then approached the group, which were admiring the crowd.
"Good evening, how did it feel to know, that if you didn't handle quickly, that Paris would be wrapped up in a huge chaos? You helped to bring two airlines down, due to additional emergencies,"
"We tried to handle the quickest way possible. Super Snake and I could contact the people of the tower to warn the airlines about the case here. One of the pilots, that had received the akuma warning must have warned the previous tower he was in contact with about what was happening here, so the airplanes could stay up there in safety," Explained Onyx making the brunette nod, then Super Snake approached the brunette to talk into the microphone as well.
"The team at the control tower has training in cases of emergencies including this with the akumas. This one was stated to be one of the worst in relation to akumas. The system has never crashed down due to any interaction from akumas according to a worker from there. Right now, they must be occupied with their job now,"
"We see, that Mr. Super Snake was aware of the busy air traffic controllers, after all this. The others haven't spoken yet, where is Ladybug at the moment? She was seen around by citizens, but she didn't seem to be present?" Inquired River Langerak looking at Hydra, Miss Vixen, and Camouflage. Camouflage stepped to the microphone, which was held up by the journalist, so he could talk.
"Ladybug knew somebody, who was an expert in terms of technical progress and sought for his assistance. Without that friend, we….well she wouldn't have found the akumatized kid,"
"Have you got anything about the kid we could know? Reason of akumatization or?"
"The kid wanted to surprise his father, who's an IT specialist. He wanted to create something by himself and the amount of time he was investing on the project caused him stress and tension. The boy didn't realize, he was getting akumatized. He just knew, when he encountered Ladybug in front of him,"
"What a poor boy," Commented River making Hydra nod.
"But he did have a super happy end. He met his favorite heroine and made it to impress his father. That's actually a good thing too," Commented Hydra making River nod.
"Your team also seems to have two new additions. Here we get to see one of them, Miss Vixen is the name, right?" Asked the journalist looking at the brunette heroine, which nodded. "Tell me, how did you get to be part of the team? Does this chance go to anyone here around the city as well?"
"I don't know," Responded Miss Vixen. "Super Snake just picked me, 'cause the actual ones he wanted rejected the offer," Commented the heroine looking at Super Snake, which faked a smile, thereafter River moved the microphone to Super Snake to question him.
"Why did they reject you? How did you think they were better? How did you get to the person behind Miss Vixen's mask?"
"Uh….you know, I had in mind picking someone I knew very well and that I imagined would do a good job as a hero. I got rejected, because they thought they weren't made for saving the city with us. I encountered Miss Vixen later by accident and I knew, she would accept it. I knew her just as well as the other two and hoped it would work out too. And it did, we even see, that she has this cool glider she can fly around with," Super Snake explained, making Miss Vixen ponder about Super Snake's words from, when he commented he knew her.
"It seems, that you're still happy to have her in the team, despite not being the first choice," Commented River making Super Snake nod.
"We all practiced the other day, which allowed us to get to know each other and find out new things about us," Added Hydra. "Without that, we would never have figured out, Miss Vixen had the capacity of flying,"
"I do have a new power as well and my own girlfriend didn't even think about teaching me about it first," Joked Onyx making Miss Vixen and Camouflage chuckle.
"My classes always have a free spot for you. You just didn't show up," Teased Hydra tapping on the bell of Onyx. The team chuckled about Hydra's deed, then Camouflage looked down and pushed Super Snake back, which got confused about his friend's deed.
"For what was that?" Asked Super Snake, then Camouflage pointed down at the long belt-tail of Onyx.
"It's not the first time, you trip over Onyx's tail," Commented Camouflage making Super Snake frown.
"What? Just because I tripped two times over his tail, you expect me to have it happening again?" Questioned Super Snake, then Miss Vixen looked down at the tail of the cat-themed superhero and tilt her head.
"What's so different about Onyx's tail? Is it longer, than Cat Noir's" Questioned the brunette making Luka's alter ego nod.
"I know he used to feel bothered about if he would get pulled there,"
"Really?" Asked Miss Vixen curious, then Camouflage ordered with his finger the brunette to be quiet and he pushed Onyx's tail shrieking the raven-haired hero, which had been talking to the journalist.
"Hey! Get your own tail," Ordered Onyx making Hydra laugh, followed by the journalist, who had to cover her mouth to stay neutral towards the filming.
Marinette lied in her bed sleeping with her pillow covering her face to prevent the sunlight to shine onto her face. Down at the desk sat Tikki looking at the facestargram account of her holder. Tikki, which sat over the mouse of the computer scrolled with the pad the pages down slowly passing by an article about the akumatization of the boy. Tikki floated above the screen to look at the head image of the article, where she could see the heroes stood at the airport with the exception of Ladybug and Honey Gold.
"Oh that's at the airport," Mumbled Tikki, then heard someone knock on the door of the room, shrieking the kwami, which pressed two keys to close the page displaying Marinette's background image of herself sitting with Luka together sharing a smoothie. Tikki observed the door on the ground being opened up to reveal the mother looking up to see her daughter lying in her bed.
"Good morning Marinette," Greeted Sabine hearing a yawn coming from the bed. Sabine chuckled, then entered into the room to go closer to the bed. "Wake up, sleepy head. It's 10 in the morning. Everyone's awake by now," Said Sabine, then looked at the desktop of her daughter to see the image of her with the boyfriend. "A really beautiful picture," Commented Sabine, then looked up at the bed to see the daughter didn't wake up yet. Sabine shook her head amused, then knocked on the wood under the bed to wake her up, followed by hearing a noise from the girl.
"Who…...what happened?" Questioned Marinette making Sabine chuckle, afterward, the daughter moved her head out to show the mother how tired the face looked like making the Chinese-descendant woman chuckle.
"Oh my, you look tired. Did the issues from the akuma yesterday worry you?" Questioned Sabine watching Marinette rub her eyes.
"I wanted to know, if things would turn out well for us," Responded Marinette. "I….even asked Nathaniel about the scene at the airport. His mother was working yesterday,"
"That really was a tough situation," Admitted the mother. "Your dad made an hour ago muffins and gave us a few to taste. Do you want one?" Questioned Sabine watching Marinette yawn, while giving the mother a thumb up. "Great, I'll see you down in the kitchen,"
"I will change my clothings. Give me a few minutes," Said Marinette getting the ladder of her bed down, while her mother left closing the door behind her. Marinette observed Tikki get out to open the internet tab again to see the page actualize itself to show a picture of Alya taking a selfie with her sisters in the kitchen as behind them was their father making breakfast. Marinette smiled at seeing the picture, then gave it a like, then slide down the dash of the facestargram account passing by posts of various people she follows. Marinette stopped by one posted by her school friend Yi, where she sat together with Kagami in music class both with their violins. Marinette grinned from seeing both friends in music class, then she pressed the like button and noticed the image display down the people who had given the image likes and a few comments. Marinette began to laugh as she read Yi replying back to her boyfriend Jin about him not being studying.
"Did you see, what Yi replied to Jin?" Questioned Marinette showing her kwami the comment section. Tikki chuckled, then glimpsed at the blue-haired girl.
"That comment was pretty amusing," Admitted the kwami making Marinette grin and pick up the clothing she left on her chaise lounge to begin to change clothing.
Luka stood at the houseboat together with his bandmates Ivan Bruel, Rose Lavillant, his sister Juleka and their keyboard player from their school. Juleka and Rose sat together analyzing a lyric text together, so Juleka could check the notes of the band's song. Ivan stood by Myléne, which was adjusting their video camera for the band later to perform.
"Look, now it works," Commented Ivan making Myléne smile and embrace her boyfriend.
"Thank you, teddy bear, Said Myléne making the boy smile.
Luka, who had been adjusting the strings of his guitar, looked at the couples around the boat being amused with each other making him smile, afterward he took out his smartphone to look at a message he had sent to Marinette, then spotted, that she had replied.
"My father is taking us to lunch at a restaurant. If you're free in the afternoon, I'll call you,"
Luka replied with a thumb up, then placed his smartphone back and looked at the keyboard player, which was looking at the song text.
"So, the girl you liked rejected you?" Spoke Luka watching the boy shrug his shoulders.
"Well, she didn't really reject me. She just showed very obviously, that she wasn't interested. I knew she always had eyes for that other guy. Even if both have communication trouble and certain issues. If she's happy with him, I just have to accept it. Can't fight for someone, knowing the interest for someone else is there,"
"You're doing the right thing. Don't break your head about it. You'll find a girl, who's worth your attention," Assured Luka looking at the raven-haired boy making him smile and lift his fist up for the friend to give a fist bump. "If you have something in mind, write it down. Most of our songs are inspired by real life. Rose's our expert at wording, you can even ask her for help," Offered Luka looking along with the keyboarder at the blonde, which pecked Juleka on her nose making her blush. The friend smiled amused about the duo, then looked at Luka.
"Perhaps I have something in my head," Commented the friend making Luka smile amused about the friend's discovery.
Yi and Kagami sat among other music students inside a hall following the lead of the conductor, who stood at the front of the room holding a stick in his hand to conduct the young orchestra. The man moved his hands down slow to end the play, then gazed at the students to see they had stopped in time, and held eye contact with the man, still holding their instruments.
"It was a real pleasure with you this lesson. Each of you have shown me the passion and the feelings, I had missed in our last class. I hope we will be just as good as we were now. The world needs musicians as you. Without artists like us, people in the world wouldn't have the mood to keep going with their lives," Said the man watching most of the students nod. "You all agree?" Questioned the conductor observing the students nod again. "Can someone tell me about, where music helped you or how it changed your life?" Added the man watching a boy with a french horn put his hand in the air.
"When I feel angry or sad, mostly during those issues with the akumas, playing music helps me feel better," Stated the boy making the teacher nod, then look at a student holding the clarinet raise her arm as well.
"Playing music with other musicians connects us all in a way, we're not always 100% able to do without," Commented the girl, then the teacher moved on to look at Kagami and Yi in the back raising their arms as well.
"Yi, what about you?" Spoke the teacher watching Yi glimpse down at her violin case to see the picture of her late father.
"I grew up young with music in our household. My dad used to give me violin lessons and taught me on his violin how to play. Over the years, I have improved and made my family proud, mostly my father. I made this mistake, when my father passed away to stop playing music, cause I felt like it wouldn't help me forget about him….in reality, I feel like it made it worse,"
"When did you realize, that music was the….cure...cure isn't actually the right word, but…..what do you think, changed your opinion about it?"
"I met Kagami, a few other people, which experienced similar life change. I got more opener about my feelings and I even got to talk to my dad during an akuma attack. It wasn't really him, eventually, but it was pretty realistic and I was helped to move on. When I play the violin now, I have the feeling my father is with me all the time and…..everything's fine," Explained Yi making the man nod and a few students clap gently. The teacher looked at a boy sneezing upon sensing into his nose small particles of the girl next to him, who was rolling up a cigar.
"Claudette, please do that after class," Asked the teacher making the girl roll her eyes and stop. "Lenni, what does music mean to you?" The man said looking at the boy, who had the fiddle lie above his legs as well.
"Music facilitates my ways to communicate. There are times, that I want to say something important or anything about how I feel. Music helps me with it," Explained the boy making the teacher nod. The man nodded, then placed his stick down.
"So kids, next week at the same hour again. Always think about, what you have heard. Music is important in our lives," Said the teacher watching the students nod, while packing their instruments back. The first students left the class immediately, while most were present still packing their instruments.
Yi had put her violin in her case, then waited for Kagami, who was making sure she had everything with her, and got up again.
"Is it weird, that I knew the teacher wasn't gonna pick me afterward?" Questioned Kagami making Yi shrug her shoulders.
"Perhaps, because of Lenni's distraction, you didn't get picked," Commented Yi unsure making Kagami nod. "Perhaps you get to answer next time,"
"We'll see. It's not important though," Confessed Kagami leaving along with Yi the room, then both spotted Jin standing by a water dispenser reading a medical book earning both girls' attention. "Look, who's here," Commented Kagami making Yi wide her eyes curious to see her boyfriend around, afterward both girls approached the tall boy.
"You're here?" Spoke Yi earning Jin's attention, which smiled at seeing both girls approach him.
"I needed some fresh air and left. I still took a book to study somewhere around Paris. Perhaps I would get more motivated," Commented Jin embracing his girlfriend, earning a peck on his cheek.
"What's going to give you more motivation? Mooncoffee?" Questioned Yi making Jin shrug his shoulders.
"Anything has to," Commented Jin. "Are you two going somewhere?"
"I have fencing practice," Commented Kagami. "I can just go in the afternoon,"
"I was planning to go home, but if you'd like, we could got get something," Offered Yi. "It's been a while, we've been out together like…..this,"
"Sure, well those other times we're always busy fightin….." Jin explained noticing Kagami's presence, which gazed at the duo neutrally. "Fighting our busy days with school, homework, our families….right, Kagami?" Jin asked hoping to having confused the Japanese girl.
"I guess so," Responded Kagami shrugging her shoulders. "I'm still in high school," Commented the blue-haired girl making the boy nod.
"Okay…..," Jin responded eyeing his girlfriend a bit confused, watching Yi shrug her shoulders as well and take Jin by his hand.
"Come, let's appreciate the time we've got before we have to…...follow our family's duty," Yi made up pulling Jin along the corridor, leaving Kagami back who chuckled.
"Won't she realize, that I know she's wearing the dragon miraculous?" Murmured Kagami quietly watching the two leave the corridor through the exit of the building.
Lila sat on the grass at the place des Vosges reading a book which had a cover with a woman in a red dress on the front and a question mark beside it. Lila glimpsed above the book as she heard a soft voice of an animal, then she spotted the gray puppy she encountered on the day she had tried out her glider the first time as Miss Vixen. Lila watched the owner of the dog get down on his knees to show the puppy a sock for him to smell on, afterward he began to sniff around the ground with the man's observation. Lila observed the dog move towards a bench, where a senior couple sat admiring the location. The couple spotted the cub, then smiled enamored with the animal, which analyzed the bench from the side and began to wag its tail. The puppy looked behind the bench and began to bark, earning the couple's attention.
From behind the bank, a blonde woman looked out with a smile and held the second pair of the sock above the dog, which barked at the woman. The woman gave the policeman a thumb up making him smile and head to the bank.
"Mrs. Furtado is married to that guy?" Questioned Lila confused, then her kwami glimpsed out of the jacket to look at the scene as well.
"He's not that bad looking," Confessed Trixx watching Lila shake her head.
"No, I meant, I didn't know that this police guy was that guy, that was married to her. I assumed it was anyone else,"
"Okay, that's a good question," Commented Trixx, then he glimpsed into the book of the brunette. "Aren't you going to do something else, rather than reading this book? What's so special about it?"
"It's interesting," Commented Lila. "Maybe in a few years, there will be a movie or a series about it, who knows,"
"What's it about?"
"Oh how do I describe this…...actually the begin is about her simple life and how she met one boy, that changed her whole life….."
"Yuck, another cliché romance," Pouted the kwami making Lila shake her head.
"Actually, it's an sci-fi-drama book. The boy actually had a crush on Isabella here in the books, but he was too shy to ask her out. Him being this nerd, was fond of video games and one day created himself in a new game and this girl, so he could have a happy life with her….it's kind of creepy to imagine that in real life, but the funny thing about it, he still told Isabella what was up. The character in the game came to life and he had to hide her from the world. He didn't know anyone else to talk about the issue, so he asked Isabella and from that part on, they became friends and hang out more often. Upon the point, they got together their video game friend was spotted by citizens, which got the police and army alarmed, who wanted to get rid of her and both ran away with their new friend. Later you figure out, that there's a mysterious person going behind both Isabellas and well….spoilers…..I can't tell you the rest,"
"What happens next? What do spoilers mean?" Questioned Trixx making Lila chuckle, then they watched a duo ran by them catching Lila's attention, who recognized the two from the TV1 channel.
"Hey, it's Mrs. Langerak," Commented Lila getting up on her knees to look at the brunette ran with a man across the park towards a path with several kids arguing with each other.
"Can we go check it out?" Questioned Trixx looking up at the green-eyed girl making her nod and get up to follow the woman.
Upon arriving at the scene, a few other citizens did appear too and those were kids, that had been playing with each other soccer and they entered into a fight.
"What's going on?" Questioned Lila watching the man, that came along with the journalist go between two fighting teens. "Wait…...that girl was akumatized once…..."
"Stop!" Ordered the man pushing the girl away from the boy.
"Os teus pais são merda!" ("Your parents are shit")
"Mete-te na tua vida!" ("Mind your own business!") Complained the girl back at the boy, which was pushed back by other kids.
"What's going on?" Questioned the man watching the girl move her foot hastily making her shoe fly off her feet against the boy's face, making him yelp. "Pardon," Apologized the man putting the girl aside, which immediately ran back at the boy to grab him by his shirt, then the kids returned to the middle to try to split them up again.
A few people around them began to record, including a few teens making the journalist drop her mouth surprised at their behavior.
"Hey! Hey! Stop that! Someone has to go in there," Warned River while the people remained the same.
Lila looked into her jacket, where Trixx was hidden and both had eye contact, knowing exactly, what both had to do and Lila stepped back leaving the crowd. River observed the short-haired man trying to get his younger sister out of the crowd, then got elbowed on his stomach, then watched the girl jump into the crowd again.
"I'm gonna kill you!" Shouted the girl, followed by the older brother get from the side between the duo. River, tried to demand the crowd to stop filming the situation, then gasped as the crowd got bigger and a few started to film as well, rather than doing something else.
"For real?" Commented the journalist in shock, then observed from above the crowd a akuma fly down at the crowd. River gasped, then jumped against her husband pulling him down among the two teens, which kept punching each other.
"There's an akuma! Get out of here!" Ordered River watching half of the crowd react, then start screaming.
A major part of the crowd left with the exception of a few smartphone users, which had on camera the akuma.
"Kati! Get out of here!" Ordered the brother moving the boy off her, while River helped her immediately get up. River watched her sister-in-law glare at the boy, then the akuma flew towards the teen making the brunette gasp and take out her smartphone from the pocket to throw it against the akuma watching it disappear inside the device making her gasp and fall down on her knees.
"No!" Complained Katrina. "Broder, hjälp!" Exclaimed the girl making her brother drop his mouth as his wife was akumatized on his sister's place.
"Darling, no!" Shouted the man grabbing her by the shoulders to look at her. "Don't let Hawk Moth take over you. You have to fight. I know you can do it," The man cheered for the brunette, which was fighting her akumatization off, while the people around them began to step back slowly, while others stood curiously back filming. "Ruby is waiting to see you tonight. You can't fall down again. Ruby needs you a lot," The man said, while the woman kept fighting in pain, which made the man swallow hard and exchange looks with his little sister, which was shocked about witnessing it.
"River, I'm sorry, I got angry. Please come back to us," Katrina said, then watched the adult drop her head down in defeat and disappeared in a dark smoke, making the rest of the crowd disappear with the exception of the family members and one filming teen.
Out of the cloud the journalist had turned into Maman Hibou again, this time she wielded on the rattle's place a smartphone, which she moved towards the boy filming the situation. The villain took a picture, which made a flashlight, and flashed the boy. The boy did have closed his eyes and looked at himself to see he was the same.
"What was your plan, Hawk Moth?" Questioned the boy with a smirk, then the supervillain showed him the picture, which looked normal and she pressed the buttons on the side together, which usually would make a screenshot, but instead, the boy's image was modified randomly and he appeared naked on there. In front of his private area, a sticker was stuck on there saying the sentence Compensating for the win.
The boy swallowed hard, then watched her press on the share button to send it to the amount of social media sites, that were listed on the smartphone. The boy gasped, then watched Maman Hibou opening one of the social media pages to show him the image get a lot of kudos making him scream in panic.
"River, please give me the phone. This is not the real you," Spoke the man taking the free hand of the villain. "The real you would fight off injustices just as you did now," Commented the man gazing into her owl-like eyes barely showing any fear, while the villain looked at the man with a rather disgusted face. "Come back to me and Ruby. We miss you," Commented the man, while the villain slowly changed her face into a worried one as she seemed to be able to understand the man. The villain had eye contact with the man, then leaned in to kiss the man and before it happened, she felt someone take away her phone and she immediately went off the man to pack the person, which took the phone and saw it was her sister-in-law, which in panic dropped the smartphone back on the ground. Katrina looked in panic at the villain, which looked down at the smartphone, then looked up at the kid again. Katrina sat there in panic, then observed the villain groan as she felt the pain go through her mind again. Katrina ran off in panic, while her brother got up to observe his wife carefully.
"You can do this, honey. Think about Ruby. She wants to have her mother back so badly," The man spoke, then the villain looked up at the villain again and picked up the smartphone again to hold it in front of her husband. "Whatever you're planning to humiliate me with, it's not as painful as losing you," Commented the man making the villain sad and hold her finger about the snapshot option. Maman Hibou sighed, then swiped along the options she had on the menu and left on the option freeze and she took a picture of the man, then moved her fingers up to confirm on the side her choice and observed him suddenly get stiff. Maman Hibou observed her husband stand there unmovable, then looked into his eyes, which were the only part of his body moving. Maman Hibou looked at Katrina, which upon seeing her brother getting frozen ran off.
"Waah!" Shouted a voice making Maman Hibou get confused and look behind her to see Miss Vixen stand there. "Did you like my…...fox scream?"
"No," Commented Maman Hibou, then Miss Vixen jumped with her flute against the supervillain, which dodged her and threw her smartphone above the heroine to catch it again, then took a picture of the superheroine from behind.
"Your phone is the only weapon?" Questioned Miss Vixen watching the villain show the image to the heroine. "Gosh, thank goodness my tail makes my butt look…" Maman Hibou pressed the side buttons to expect Miss Vixen to freeze, but noticed, that she was moving anyway, but really slow. "faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa…"
Maman Hibou tilted her head, then looked at her smartphone, which was with the option set on slow-motion, then the villain shrugged her shoulders and waved at the superheroine.
"Au revoir, Miss Vixen," Said Maman Hibou, then ran away leaving the superheroine all on her own.
"Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu…"
