Chapter 19

Ok, I usually update once a week. I don't know, if it's relevant to say this, but I might take a bit longer now to update. I'm thinking about, which way I'm taking the next chapters and I had two different ideas, but can't decide.

At the outside of the hospital stood Super Snake together with Miss Vixen, who was asked to pass by the hospital along with the rest of the teammates.

"So Maman Hibou managed to take off the miraculous of Onyx before he fell off the roof," Inquired the fox-themed superheroine. "And just like you he was caught by one of those slow-motion options,"

"We both did receive a different option, but basically it's all, because of her," Corrected Super Snake. "The real River can't do anything for Onyx's fall. She was akumatized. Most of the time people's injuries are fixed or some of them. I have actually never paid attention to that,"

"How's Mrs. Langerak taking all this? I'm sure she's not feeling well about knowing, she literally led someone to his death," Mentioned Miss Vixen looking at Super Snake, which had a more tense look in his eyes. "Were you and Onyx great pals?" Questioned Miss Vixen carefully watching her friend shrug his shoulders.

"We all worked with him for a long time together. Now seeing him in there fighting for his life, is just….shocking for me," Confessed Super Snake making Miss Vixen nod and place her hand on his shoulder.

"We just have to pray for the best," Suggested Miss Vixen, then they heard someone whistle and observed Camouflage come along with Ladybug, which raised her eyebrows up surprised at seeing the two on the outside.

"Is Hydra in there by herself?" Questioned Ladybug watching Miss Vixen shake her head.

"Honey Gold is in there. We're not allowed to enter into the intensive station," Mentioned Miss Vixen. "I mean, not more than the family members,"

"And Honey Gold or Hydra could stay, because….."

"They're supposed to prevent anyone from getting akumatized," Stated Super Snake. "Honey Gold told this to the doctor. Makes sense at the moment, actually,"

"Is there a way, we can see Onyx's parents?" Questioned Ladybug making Miss Vixen shrug.

"We can ask," Suggested Miss Vixen taking her hand off Super Snake's shoulder to enter the building, followed by the boys, which joined the girls last. Super Snake walked forward sad, then felt Camouflage place his hand on the friend's shoulder.

"Nath, I know this isn't the right moment, but do you think you could take the place of Onyx for a while?" Questioned Camouflage having eye contact with the friend.

"Sure, but will I have to put Sass away?" Questioned Super Snake.

"At the moment no. We have to see first, what we get to hear from the doctors or the family. We can focus on that later. I just wanted to make sure, we have someone," Explained Camouflage making the redhead nod.

During the walk, Miss Vixen led the team to a passage through the waiting room, that had another door leading to another corridor, which belonged to the emergency department. Miss Vixen knocked at the door of the secretariat, who was attending a client and the heroine pointed at the door.

"Excuse me, ma'am. Ladybug needs to see Onyx's family. We'll be out in five minutes," Warned Miss Vixen watching the woman move her hand up to sign the heroes to move further.

"I thought it wasn't easy to get in there," Commented Ladybug.

"On the way here I thought, that we should actually have the chance to get in here. We're technically just as authoric as the police in one way or another," Mentioned the brunette making Ladybug nod.

During the walk, the group spotted in the middle of the corridor the parents of Jin sitting, while Hydra stood beside them looking down at the ground, while Honey Gold analyzed the surroundings. Honey Gold noticed the superheroes, then waved at them. Ladybug ran towards the group, then packed Honey Gold by the arms.

"Do you have any news?" Questioned Ladybug watching the blue-haired girl shake her head. Ladybug looked sadly away to look at Hydra, which remained in the same position. Ladybug placed her hands on the friend's shoulder to take a look at her face to see her with a deadpan expression. "We're all here for support," Stated Ladybug, then observed Hydra glimpse at Jin's parents, which were sitting there with a worried facial expression. Ladybug looked at Camouflage for reassurance, then the raven-haired boy stepped closer to his girlfriend to give her his hand. He nodded, showing her, that she wasn't alone, afterward she took a deep breath before she spoke.

"Good evening…."Greeted Ladybug watching both adults look at her. "I'm…...I understand your pain. Jin was an excellent miraculous holder. He was smart and learned quickly. This fight here with Maman Hibou was rather challenging, due to her quickness. He did the best he could to stop her, but…...this time the villain was faster," Ladybug tried to explain carefully while watching the mother of Jin listening to the heroine along with her husband and she began to cry. The husband sobbed as well, forcing his feelings back into himself. Ladybug sank her head, then looked up at her boyfriend, which nodded at the girl.

"There's nothing much we can do at the moment," Whispered Luka's alter ego, then Ladybug looked at the other heroes, which shared the same pain as the duo.

A doctor appeared, then got surprised at seeing the superheroes around and looked at his sheets.

"I assume everyone's here for Jin I see," Questioned the man making the group nod. Hydra stepped in front of the man eyeing him with sad eyes to get to know the results.

"How is Jin doing?" Questioned Hydra sensing Jin's father holding her on the arm back.

"We have successfully operated his back area. From the current analysis, he seemed to only have inner contusions, which were mostly caused by the fall. Despite his low injuries, your boy Jin fell in a coma," Explained the doctor making the people gasp. Hydra turned away looking at Ladybug which a shocked face, which mirrored her facial expression along with Camouflage. Honey Gold leaned her hand out for the friend to take it and she got into the arms of the bee miraculous holder to sob. Super Snake and Miss Vixen exchanged looks with each other, then gazed at their friend crying. Super Snake caressed the friend on her back and Miss Vixen turned back to the parents, which listened to the doctor.

"Comas can occur after such incidents. We tested his reactions and they're low at the moment. We're going to keep him here and keep him under observation," Explained the doctor, then Ladybug approached the trio sad about the situation.

"I'm really sorry about this. If I could have reached earlier, I could have prevented this. My miraculous couldn't fix everything. I think not even his injuries," Mentioned Ladybug, then Camouflage placed his hand on Ladybug's shoulder.

"Your boy Jin was a great member of our team. We are praying for him to have a good recovery. I don't want anyone of you to feel guilty for what happened. Not even Jin himself. He was doing, what he knew was right and this happened. You have us and the entire city praying for the recuperation of Jin," Said Camouflage watching the mother burst into tears to hug her husband.

Miss Vixen approached Ladybug and her boyfriend, then nudged the boyfriend gently on the shoulder.

"Should we leave them by themselves or is this a bad idea now?" Questioned Miss Vixen. "You know, because of Hawk Moth?"

"Honestly, I don't know. I even believe we should be more awake at the moment. Jin's accident is surely going to cause a lot of interest and fear around Paris. Hawk Moth could take advantage of it," Commented Camouflage making Ladybug nod.

"The other issue, soon or later, people will want to come to the hospital to see, what's up. Journalists will want to question the parents or any doctors," Commented Honey Gold making Camouflage nod.

"I will stay here for tonight. In case something happens, I will notify everyone," Suggested Camouflage. "Avoid any interaction with journalists,"

"Tomorrow night, if someone is needed here at the hospital, I can stay watch," Suggested Miss Vixen. "My mom's barely home, so she won't notice me missing,"

"Alright. Tomorrow if you want we can discuss, how we will handle this in the next few days," Commented Camouflage making the heroes nod. The team observed Hydra being comforted by Honey Gold, then they exchanged looks with each other.

"Should one of us take her home?" Questioned Super Snake, then the father of Jin shook his head at the team.

"We can take care of her too. Her mother was notified," Explained the father making the team nod, afterward Honey Gold led Hydra to a chair to sit down with her.

"You guys keep going. I'll be here for a few more moments," Explained Honey Gold making the team nod.

"Well, we still have plenty of hours to sleep. It's only….three in the morning!?" Exclaimed Super Snake in shock upon looking at the time on the wall. "Thank goodness it's Sunday now,"

"I know, what you mean," Said Camouflage, then watched the team leave with the exception of Ladybug, which looked back at her boyfriend, then grabbed his hands.

"I don't feel so good, knowing Jin is there fighting between life and death. What if he doesn't make it?" Whispered Ladybug.

"Don't break your head about it. I'm sure everything is going to end up well. Don't let the bad things get into your head. Think about good things," Suggested Camouflage making Ladybug nod, then Camouflage gave her a kiss on her lips. "Sweet dreams," Wished the raven-haired superhero, making Ladybug smile slightly enamored and she ran off to follow the rest of the team leaving her boyfriend back, who looked at the quartet sitting in despair.

"Here's Nadja Charmack, live in front of the Saint Louis Hospital, where one of our beloved superheroes was delivered last night upon a battle with a supervillain,"

Tom and Sabine Dupain-Cheng stood in front of the TV together witnessing the news surprised about the hero's accident.

"According to Citziens, that witnessed the fight the superhero happens to be Cat Noir's successor Onyx,"

Anarka stood inside the cabin of her ship listening to the news with a neutral facial expression, feeling terrified about the incident as well.

"He was seen to be pushed down by the supervillain shortly upon him losing his transformation. Behind Onyx's mask hid the 19-year-old medical student Jin, which was attending school for a couple of months only."

Kagami sat in the car of her mother seeing on the computer screen the news, which made her bite her lips from knowing it was her best friend's boyfriend, who lied in the hospital.

"We sadly didn't manage to get to question anyone at the school nor from the surroundings of his family,"

Adrien Agreste sat on the outside of the dormitory on a ping pong table watching the news with his headphones on. Beside him appeared a blonde girl, who unplugged the cable of his earphones off to hear, that he was hearing the news.

"Is everything alright?" Questioned the blonde girl, then Adrien showed his girlfriend the news, which had displayed an image of the boy Jin next to an image of Onyx.

"One of the superheroes lies in coma in the hospital," Commented Adrien with a sad face. The girl sat beside Adrien and placed her arm around him to comfort him. Both looked at the screen again to see Nadja talk.

"Maman Hibou was the supervillain from last night and confirms to have no memory about, what happened during her time as an akuma villain. What happened to Onyx thanks to her was obviously a shock and it has affected her. She wasn't able to moderate her last report," Explained Nadja, while the screen blended a different video above her, which showed the journalist River sitting talking about a topic. The brunette slowly began to sob through the speaking, then covered her face and looked away from the camera. River during the meeting glimpsed up in the air looking out at the studio and ran away from the screen, seconds later the screen was covered by a commercial to buy the channel time.

"If I could I would have gone there and offer my team help," Stated Adrien making the girlfriend nod while caressing his back.

Later around midday, Marinette entered into the hospital to head to the corridor, that head to the ICU. Near the end of the corridor, she encountered Luka standing on the outside with Yi, both out of their supersuits. Marinette stopped by Luka, both exchanging a sad facial expression.

"Have you been here all night?" Questioned Marinette making Luka nod.

"Yes," Responded Luka. "I left in the morning as two nurses got to wash him and test his reflexes again," Commented Luka.

"Is there anything new yet?" Questioned Marinette making Luka shake his head.

"All of us have overnight here. His parents are in there now with him. They're talking to him. It's said, that it helps him recover. You know coma patients," Stated Luka.

"What about you or Yi?" Questioned Marinette. "Have you seen him already?"

"We're planning to see him after his parents leave," Commented Luka. "Might take longer, eventually,"

Marinette nodded, then looked at Yi, which sat on the chair facing the floor sad. Marinette got to sit down next to Yi, taking a look at her.

"Hey," Marinette spoke softly, hearing her murmur quietly a word back.

"Hey…"

"How did you pass the night?" Questioned Marinette.

"Terrible," Answered Yi making Marinette nod.

"Haven't you been able to sleep I see?" Questioned Marinette watching the girl nod.

The door next to them opened up to have Jin's mother walk out with a neutral face, followed by her husband earning the attention of Marinette and Luka.

"I think you can now enter into the room," Mentioned Marinette watching Yi look up at his boyfriend's parents, which held the door open for the girls.

"Are you coming, Marinette?" Questioned Luka moving at the door watching Yi get up as well. Marinette nodded and followed the duo into the room to see two beds, one of them was empty while the other one was occupied by Jin, who was groomed with small tubes and cables around him.

Marinette gulped upon the sight of her friend on the bed, then approached along with Yi the boy slowly. Marinette gazed at the friend, that had his mouth and nose covered with an oxygen mask, then felt tensed at the look of the alter ego of Onyx. Yi approached the bed of her boyfriend to take a look at him to see if his face was free from any visible scratches, then she looked down at his hand that lied over the mattress and his finger had a clip with a tube attached to it. Yi looked up at her boyfriend again, hearing nothing coming from him, but the beeping of the machinery behind him. Luka stood behind the girls, looking at Jin and Luka grabbed both girls on the shoulders.

"You girls can talk to him," Commented Luka, then Yi placed her hand above Jin's hand.

"Good morning, Jin. It's me, Yi," Began Yi earning a nod from Luka. "How are you doing? I have spent the night here with your parents in front of your bedroom….sort of…..I have never talked to someone, who was in this state before…..in fact, I had this one chance with my father once, but…..on that time, I was young and scared. I didn't know, what it was like to do so and I assumed it would only make things worse for me…..I even believed it was worse not doing that," Yi spoke. Marinette stepped back slowly watching Yi talk to the coma patient, that seemed to be bothering Marinette a little.

"If you're hearing us, you have to know, that we all miss you. I miss you. We're all praying for you to return," Yi spoke making Luka nod, afterward they heard a noise and watched Marinette, who had tripped over a medical cart. Marinette got up, then Luka returned to his girlfriend to check on her.

"You're okay?" Questioned Luka, then Marinette pointed at the door and made her way out, followed by Luka. "What happened?"

"I'm sorry. Tell Yi, I'm sorry. I don't know. I…..I can't look at Jin…..the way he is there all attached to the…..the things…..it's all my fault….." Marinette began to stutter, then Luka placed his hands on her shoulders to calm her down.

"No, it's not Marinette. You know behind all this, what happened is Hawk Moth. Have you even seen the news this morning? Around 6-7 people feel bothered by this issue as well. Everyone thinks they're to blame for Jin's accident, but it's only Hawk Moth's,"

"How are they many people?" Questioned Marinette sad watching Luka count with his fingers.

"Well, you're one of them, this makes one. Jin's parents count three, Maman Hibou's alter ego River, then there's the girl she's related with, the boy, that bullied her, River's husband…...oh I think Jin's university teacher said something as well. He was aware of Jin's bad grades and Jin somehow explained in a discreet way, that he had focused on another important task during his school time. You don't have to feel bad about it. It just happened. We just need to know, how to go on from here from now on. We already know Nathaniel is going to take Onyx's place until we know his future,"

"I don't think Jin's going to have a future as Onyx anymore. The whole city knows about Jin's identity now,"

"Marinette, don't be so negative about it,"

"I'm being sincere, Luka. Even if Jin is alright by the end, he's not going to be the same afterward. You know I had to give the miraculous away from Adrien, because of his revelation. If we kept Jin, he and his family would be in danger. You remember Nino last time. He was kidnapped, because I didn't recall, that he was familiar to Hawk Moth as well,"
"We're going to find a solution, Marinette. I promise you that," Said Luka watching Marinette shrink her eyes looking up at her boyfriend with puppy eyes.

"Really?" Questioned Marinette making Luka nod. Marinette pondered for a moment, then sank her arms down with a sigh. "Even if unexpected things occur?"

"Uh hum," Responded Luka, then watched Marinette take off her earrings making Luka wide his eyes and watch her open his hands to give them to him. "What are you doing, Marinette?"

"I can't wield the miraculous for so long. It's been nothing, but chaos lately. We've been close to Hawk Moth so many times and we only failed. Mainly, because of me,"

"Marinette, mistakes are what makes us humans. You can't just give up like that. You've done tons of mistakes and….you made it through it,"

"I know….but I'm sure, this time things are going to be different," Commented Marinette. "If you excuse me, I…...I need to think about a lot," Stated Marinette making her way along the corridor, leaving Luka back. Luka got sad upon seeing his girlfriend leave, thereafter his kwami Wayzz left the jacket to observe the blue-haired girl leave.

"What are we going to do about it? We need Ladybug," Mentioned the turtle kwami watching Luka gaze at the miraculous and close his hand.

"I will find a solution. Even if it is temporary," Commented Luka seeing Marinette leave into a different area.

Marinette reached the outside of the hospital, then spotted at a corner a small area, where a large, cut-off carton lied with tons of candles and letters lying on the ground. Against the wall lied a newspaper with Onyx and Jin's face on it. Marinette gulped upon seeing the shrine they had made for her friend already and watched a little boy approach the area with a cat plush and placed it next to the image of the boy. Marinette walked backward, then turned around to race away and crashed against a huge person.

"Gah!" Yelled Marinette, then felt the person pack her on her arms and she looked up, then tilted her head surprised at seeing her classmate Ivan stand there.

"Hey Marinette. You're okay?" Questioned Ivan, then Marinette looked back at the shrine of her friend and back at the tall boy. "It's a lot to take in right now, right?"

"Yes…..well, I actually was up there with Luka and we could see Jin…..I couldn't bear to see him attached to all those devices. It's…,"

"Oh I understand that," Commented Ivan. "I hope that didn't have a big effect on you….oh you know the new school psychologist, that took us all for a meeting once? I encountered here at the bus station before and she offered to appear at Monday in each class to offer us support in case we can't handle the situation with Jin,"

"Really? Perhaps I could check it out someday," Answered Marinette unsure, if it was a good idea for herself. "Thanks, Ivan," Marinette observed Ivan move on and put down a letter on it, making Marinette smile a little knowing, what the paper could be.
