Alina opened the door of her motel room, surprised to find Dean on the other side of it. She'd thought it was Sam coming to give her all the informations they'd gathered during their short investigation, but she absolutely wasn't expecting to see Dean after their last conversation. He was wearing his usual clothes again, and was simply standing in the hallway with his hand in his pockets, silently waiting for her to say the first words. He wanted to see her reaction before doing anything, because he'd leave instantly if she didn't want him here.
The fact that she'd gone back to the room she was sharing with Marcus made him believe that she didn't want to see or talk to him right now. But…
"Dean..." Her voice was so soft, and her faint smile so relieving.
She wanted to ask him what he was doing here, but didn't want to offend him. She wasn't mad or anything, she was just too tired to argue with him again. "Come on in."
She stepped away to let him enter the room and closed the door behind him with a little apprehension. Dean started to check his surrounding, surprised to find nothing else but Alina's stuff in the room. There was no sign of her friend's presence. "Where's Marcus?"
The hunter asked as he turned to the girl now leaning against a wall with her arms crossed.
"He had to leave." She didn't say more, because she didn't want to cause another argument by mentioning…him.
"Is he okay?" Dean insisted, as he wanted her to feel free to say anything.
"Yeah…but his boyfriend got hurt on the job. He'll be fine, Elias just thought he'd feel better with Marcus by his side. That's why he called me, he wanted to make sure we'd be alright without Marcus here before asking him to come back."
Dean felt stupid for the way he'd reacted. Elias was just trying to be a good friend.
Alina watched him nod shyly, quickly turning around to hide whatever was on his mind at the moment. At least he wasn't making a scene about Elias, but the silence was too oppressive. "So did you guys find anything at the docks?"
"Yeah!" Dean replied quickly, happy to change the subject that made him feel like a complete fool. He told her about what they'd learned, about his theory that the truck could be similar to the flying dutchman, an extension of a ghost re-enacting past crimes. But instead of a ship, they were hunting a phantom truck.
"Wait…" Alina frowned in astonishment. "You mean we're dealing with a racist, killing, ghost truck? That's…we need to find a way to stop it before it kills anyone else. What about Cassie's mom? Didn't the mayor say something about her this morning?"
"Yeah, I also think this is all connected to Cassie and her family. There's gotta be more to it."
Alina wanted to end this quickly. She'd promised Marcus she would take care of this. She couldn't let him down, and she couldn't let anyone else get hurt in this town.
"Okay than you should go talk to Cassie."
Dean waited a moment before scoffing at her request. It sounded so natural and yet, so unexpected. Alina didn't understand his reaction. She wasn't trying to be funny.
"What?" She asked, confused.
"Nothing. It's just…you want me to go talk to her? Now? In the middle of the night?"
Alina checked the alarm clock on her nightstand. "It's not that late."
Dean was losing his patience again. How could she be so relaxed right now? He'd gone mad because of a simple phone call from her ex, and she was asking him to go see a girl he used to date, alone, at her house. Wasn't she at least just a bit worried about this?
Alina sighed, realizing what was troubling the hunter. She let out a small laugh, slightly annoyed by his attitude. "Seriously Dean? You don't want me to talk to Elias, you don't want me to want you to talk to Cassie…are you actually mad at me because I trust you not to end up in your ex's bed?"
Dean looked away. "That's not what I said, Alina. Don't put words in my mouth."
"Well I have to! Otherwise you wouldn't be saying anything at all! I told you how I feel, yet you're still worried that I might go back to the guy I used to date when I was 15?!"
"At least you knew what you were doing with him!"
Alina chose not to move from her spot against the wall, she couldn't give him the pleasure to let her emotions get the best of her. "And what does that mean?!"
Dean glanced at her for a second, trying to find the right words since he clearly didn't have any filter anymore, and he didn't want to say anything to hurt her even though he was mad. "I don't know, Alina! I don't know what 'this' is, I don't know what you want!"
'This' being their current ambiguous relationship. But he couldn't just blame her for 'this'. "Really, Dean?! You don't know what I want?! I did this whole stupid speech under the rain for you, and you still don't know what I want?! Don't put your own doubts on me, I don't have time for this bullshit!"
Dean knew once again that he would probably say things he would regret saying later if he didn't leave right now. So he bit his lip to keep his mouth shut and gave Alina a resigned look. "You're right. We should probably focus on our job right now."
The hunter was already walking towards the door when Alina jumped in front of him to block the way to the only exit. "You can't keep hiding behind your job, Dean. Just admit it, there's always gonna be a reason for you to runaway from a real conversation with me."
"Alina get out of my way…" Dean could feel his blood boiling in his veins, his hands turning into fists, his jaw clenching in frustration.
"Why? What are you so afraid of? You think you're gonna hurt me? You think you could make me hate you?! I dare you to try!"
"Don't…" His voice was soft but so full of anger. He really was trying to warn her. He really wanted to protect her from his anger.
"Just say something! Do something! You wanna hurt me?! Fine! Do it!"
Dean stayed silent, staring at the ground. He couldn't look her in the eyes. He couldn't say what he wanted to say. Why was he being such a jerk with her?! Why did she have to insist?!
"Come on, Dean! Hurt me!"
She didn't get the chance to say anything else as Dean suddenly wrapped his hand around her neck and pushed her against the door behind her.
Alina was now trapped against Dean's strong body, still able to breathe but completely immobilized by his firm grip on her neck. His other hand was on the door, right next to her head, and as his breathing was starting to intensify he slowly leaned his face towards her without completely closing the space between them. Alina had never seen him so furious against her, yet she didn't feel threatened, even for a second. She didn't flinch, she just let him do whatever he needed to do, she wanted him to see how much she trusted him no matter what. She was just as stubborn as he was.
"I…" Dean's lips were just a few inches away from hers. He could feel her heavy breathing caressing them. He closed his eyes, already regretting his sudden and violent reaction, slowly starting to let go of Alina. What he didn't expect was for her to instantly grab his wrist and stop his hand from leaving her neck. And she stared at him, challenging him with her eyes. She clearly wasn't scared…she was curious. Intrigued.
Dean would've understand her if she'd chose to leave after this. But she was still here, she was still waiting for him to share his thoughts with her, even the darkest ones. She needed to know what he wanted exactly, and he'd never been so sure about something before. It was so obvious…
"I want you."
Alina felt like these three words lighted up a fire inside her, slowly heading towards an explosion that she wouldn't be able to control any longer. She still didn't move, looking right into his eyes. "Okay." She let go of his wrist and lifted both her hands in front of her to completely surrender with a slight grin.
They kept staring at each other for a short moment that only made them both go completely insane when their lips finally collided. Alina slightly pushed Dean forward so he would get enough room between her and the door to make her jacket slide along her arms and to the ground. She did the same with his jacket, then his shirt, and he quickly lifted her up against his bare torso, holding her thighs around his waist.
Alina couldn't keep her hands off him. She was completely under his spell and didn't want to be freed from it. She took off her top, biting her lips at the way Dean was admiring her when he held her against the wall. Smiling at the way her hair tie had been pulled away along with her top, making her hair gently fall on her naked shoulders. He didn't wait any longer to put kisses all over her neck, her chest…he wanted to kiss everything.
The little moans she let out, and her hands abruptly grabbing his hair, made him bite a small area of skin right above her white lace bra. He couldn't wait to get that piece of fabric out of the way.
The moment Alina felt his teeth on her skin, she let out a louder moan that made Dean look back at her in amusement. She could've been blushing, if she wasn't as amused as him. She laughed at herself and got back on her feet to start unbuckling his belt, and push him on the bed behind him. He watched her get on top of him, the same way she'd done it back in that sorority house when she was trying to make a diversion. Back then he was already crazy for her, and he still couldn't believe that she felt the same way. But when she started kissing his neck, slowly going down to his muscular chest, he closed his eyes and slipped his fingers through her hair to pull her head back up after a dozen more kisses.
Alina looked down at him with a smile, unable to think about anything else but him in that moment. She suddenly felt a wave of desire going through her entire body, and it took her a moment to realize that it wasn't just her own desire. Her Empathy was making her feel Dean's eagerness to have her for himself.
And right at the same time, Dean got a taste of her own hunger. He licked his lips and got on top of her in one quick motion. He wanted her. She wanted him.
And they both totally felt it.
…LATER…
The two hunters had slipped under the covers of the bed, and were finally able to breathe normally again. Alina's head was resting on Dean's chest as he was softly playing with a few strands of her hair. She'd never felt so vulnerable and safe at the same time.
"So…" She started, trying to stop herself from smiling too much. "That was…"
"Awesome."
She laughed and nodded against him. "Yeah. That was awesome." She then frowned, thinking about an unexpected, important detail that had made this moment so awesome. "Hey did you…feel anything?"
"Oh I felt everything."
Alina smacked his chest playfully. "That's not what I mean! I think…I was using my Empathy."
Dean smirked at this. Yes, he'd totally felt that. And the more he felt it, the more she felt it, which made him feel it even more, and it all just kept piling up until…
"Did you know you could do that?" He asked her, confirming her suspicions.
"I had no idea, but I'm glad I found out."
Dean scoffed, pulling her a little more closer to him when he let go of her hair and started to absentmindedly run his finger up and down her arm. He didn't want that moment to end. He just felt so good next to her. "So I guess we crossed that friendship line, uh?"
"I guess we did." Alina's voice was a little hesitant. She was worried of what that would mean for them. "Are you…okay with that?"
She expected him to once again avoid the subject or just reply to her question with another question, but instead he slightly pulled away from her to make her look up at him. And the tender look he gave her, made the young woman's heart melt. "I'm okay with that, Frenchy. Are you?"
She looked at him, lifted her hand to caress his cheek with her thumb and nodded. "I'm okay with that, Winchester."
They shared a kiss with less intensity than the ones they'd shared earlier, but full of warmth and adoration for each other.
Alina then put her head back on his chest so he could keep running his fingers on her arm affectionately. She hadn't even realized how long she'd been waiting for this. She was so glad she'd stopped him from leaving again.
"So now that we've seen each other naked, you can tell me why Marcus keeps calling you 'Fantasy', right?"
Alina's eyes opened wide, surprised by the sudden change of subject, and the one question she didn't think he would ask. She actually thought he'd forgot about that stupid nickname. She wished he had. "What? Why? I mean…does he? I don't…I don't recall anything like that. At all…"
She didn't need to look at Dean to know that the long silence following her stuttered lie, was him patiently waiting for her to reveal her big, embarrassing secret. She shouldn't have reacted the way she did when Sam had asked about it. Of course Dean was intrigued. And he had this annoying ability to always make her talk about the things she wanted to keep to herself. She wondered for a moment if she could maybe erase his memories with her Empathy, but quickly gave up with a big sigh.
"Okay fine…it's a Mariah Carey song. Marcus used to make fun of me because I would always sing it in the morning after I had a…" She shamefully closed her eyes. "…Steamy dream?"
She waited. One second, two seconds…
Well exactly three seconds passed before Dean's sudden laugh made her roll her eyes and hit his chest a little more violently this time. "Well you can laugh all you want, Winchester. I was a teenager with burning hormones back then, but I'm done with Mariah Carey now. So it's actually not that funny anymore."
But he just kept laughing, so she grabbed a pillow and threw it to his face. "Stop laughing! I swear I'm gonna stab you!"
THE NEXT DAY
Dean and Alina were walking towards Sam who'd got to the new crime scene before them. There had been a new victim early in the morning, and it was the Mayor.
The third hunter was talking to a cop when his brother and his friend reached them, he put away his fake ID as he informed the cop that the two newcomers were with him. And of course, right after the cop had left them, Sam had to start smiling like a proud kid. "Let me guess…Slumber Party?" He mocked Alina's tone when she'd joyfully said those words to Marcus. Of course, he hadn't seen Dean coming back to their room last night, and he was far from stupid. But his friend still chose to give him an innocent look.
"I don't know what you're talking about. Dean and I just met on the way here."
"Yeah I definitely didn't spend the night in her room."
Alina tried not to smile at Dean's statement, while the eldest Winchester had the biggest grin on his lips.
Sam shook his head and rolled his eyes at them. "Well it's good to see that you guys finally worked things out, but please, spare me the details."
"Don't worry Sammy." Alina softly patted his shoulder. "You'll always be the first Winchester I ever kissed."
"Seriously?" Dean quickly replied in astonishment. "Now?"
Alina scoffed at him, then decided it was time to get her serious back. They were currently on a crime scene after all. "Alright, so what happened?" She asked Sam with her usual hunter voice as the three of them started walking between the police cars.
"Every bone crushed. Internal organs turned to pudding. The cops are all stumped, it's like something ran him over."
"Something like a truck?" Dean guessed correctly.
And of course no tracks were found. However, the Mayor's death wasn't fitting in this case since he was white, and hadn't died the same way the three others did. Their only clue right now was the fact that he'd been killed on a property he'd bought just a few weeks ago. This had to be connected somehow.
LATER
Alina was lying on a bed in the brothers' room, trying to recap all the informations they'd gathered today. "So back in the '60s, that Cyrus Dorian guy vanishes around the time of the string of murders. Forty years later, Mr Mayor buys the old Dorian family house, bulldozes it the day before Marcus' uncle dies, and becomes the forth victim of the ghost truck weeks later, while working on the property. What are we missing here?"
The brothers sitting at the small table on the other side of the room simply shook their heads to show the same confusion as her.
"The three first victims died in the same way, were all black men, and according to Marcus' aunt, her husband was still haunted by something they'd done years ago. You think they killed someone?"
"Maybe..." Sam agreed, throwing a few papers back on the tables, lost in his own researches.
Dean's phone started ringing at the same time. The two frustrated friends didn't really pay attention to it at first, until they heard the concern in his voice after a few seconds.
They all ended up going back to Cassie's house after she'd been attacked by the truck. Dean was sitting next to the frightened young woman when Alina handed her a cup of tea. Her hands were shaking but she still took the cup, giving the hunter a faint smile.
"Maybe you could throw a couple of shots in that."
Alina smiled back at her. "I had a feeling you'd say that."
Cassie took a sip of her tea, quickly finding out that it wasn't actually tea. She shared a knowing look with Alina who sat next to Dean on the opposite side of the couch. Sam then started asking the questions. Cassie hadn't seen anything during the attack, but when Sam asked about her dad seeing the truck before he died, they all noticed the way her mom was shaking and not paying attention to the conversation. She was distracted by something. And once again, Alina felt the same kind of fear she'd felt the first time she'd met her.
"Oh. Martin was under a lot of stress. You can't be sure about what he was seeing."
She was afraid to talk. Either she was crazy, or she was going to die anyway. The two only options terrified her, so she couldn't tell the truth. Until she met Alina's eyes.
"Mrs Robinson…I know you're scared. But you need to trust me when I tell you that you're definitely not crazy. Whatever's happening here, you and your daughter are marked and we can't protect you from it if you don't talk to us. So please, let us help."
Cassie didn't understand what Alina meant by that, or how she could know about her mom's feelings when she didn't even know her. But she was even more confused when her mom finally nodded.
"Yes. Yes, he said he saw a truck."
"Did he know who it belonged to?"
Cyrus Dorian. Cassie's mom told the hunters about the tragic events that had occurred forty years ago. Her secret love story with Cassie's dad while she was still dating Cyrus, the way Dorian had gone completely insane when she'd broke it off with him for a black man. His hatred had been the cause of the string of murders back in that time. He was the one driving the black truck.
Alina felt dizzy when Mrs Robinson told them about the day she was supposed to get married to Cassie's dad. They'd decided to elope to avoid getting all the attention, but on that same day, someone had set the little church on fire, killing an entire choir of children practicing inside. The guilt and sorrow the hunter received from the poor grieving woman when she revealed that tragic part of the story, almost made Alina walk out of the room once again. Those negative feelings were so strong, she could've passed out if Dean hadn't grabbed her hand discreetly. That simple touch was enough to free the Empath from her emotional cage. She squeezed his hand as if to thank him for what he'd just done, and kept listening to Mrs Robinson's story.
That's when they finally got the missing part of their investigation. One nights Cyrus had came for Martin, Cassie's dad. After getting beaten up really bad, Martin had succeeded to free himself so he could start hitting Cyrus over and over again, until he couldn't hurt anyone, anymore. That was the day that kept haunting Marcus' uncle years after it happened.
Mrs Robinson was crying, but just couldn't stop sharing her story now that the truth was finally out. "This was forty years ago. He called on his friends, Clayton Soames and Jimmy Anderson, and they put Cyrus' body into the truck and they rolled it into the swamp at the end of his land and all three of them kept that secret all of these years.
And now all three were gone. The only question left was…why kill the Mayor too?
"He was a good man. He was a young deputy back then investigating Cyrus' disappearance. Once he figured out what Martin and the others had done he...he did nothing, because he also knew what Cyrus had done."
And just like that, the puzzle was complete. Mayor Todd was the man that had kept Cyrus' murder quiet and unsolved, waking up the spirit from his swamp tomb when he demolished the Dorian family house forty years later.
LATER
"All right. Let's get her up." Sam announced, standing with Alina near the tractor Dean was controlling. They watched him as he slowly pulled the truck from the swamp's dirty water.
Sam guided his brother until the truck was completely out of its tomb, which would've been harder to do if Dean wasn't such a skilled driver.
"Nice." Sam complimented him, while Alina had a proud look on her face.
"Hell yeah." Dean moved to the trunk of the Impala to grab what they needed to torch the dead body.
The two friends joined him, and Sam couldn't help but tease Alina a little. "Now I know what you see in him."
Alina smirked, gently hitting her friend's arm. "Back off Sammy. He's mine."
Dean tried not to smile at her words, still rummaging among the weapons in his car.
"Oh? So I take it things are pretty…official, now?"
The eldest Winchester looked back at the girl standing behind him, who had the same stupid smile on her face when she simply shrugged. "Could we just torch this body already?"
And although Sam still wanted to mess with them, he agreed to hurry with their current mission. Once they had everything they needed, the hunters moved towards the door of the truck, glanced at each others and Dean opened it. The decayed body that instantly fell out made them all want to puke.
They took it off the driver's seat, to pour salt and gas on it. The smell that emanated from the body when they set it on fire was as disgusting as the first sight they'd had of it. But at least it was done.
"Think that'll do it?" Sam asked while they all watched the flames surrounding the dead body.
"I hope so." Alina took a step away from it, the exact same moment the ghost truck appeared on the other side of the real truck. Headlights on, the engine roared in a threatening way.
"I guess not." Dean concluded in frustration.
Sam was completely lost. "So burning the body had no effect on that thing?"
"Sure it did. Now it's really pissed."
"Well I'm sure Baby would be pretty pissed too if we did to you what we just did to Cyrus!"
Dean scoffed, still getting amused by Alina's sarcasm in that urgent situation.
"But Cyrus' ghost is gone, right?"
The eldest Winchester gave his brother a look before starting to walk away. "Apparently not the part that's fused with the truck."
"Where you going?" Sam and Alina asked in chorus, worried to see him leaving so abruptly.
"Going for a little ride."
"What?!"
"Are you nuts, Winchester?!" Alina didn't know what to do. She couldn't let Dean get himself in danger like that.
"Gonna lead that thing away. That busted piece of crap, you gotta burn it."
"How the hell are we supposed to burn a truck Dean?"
"I don't know. Figure something out."
Alina caught the bag Dean threw at them before getting in the car, and didn't even think before throwing it at Sam, as she was also rushing to the Impala.
Dean watched her get on the passenger seat the moment he started the engine. He wanted to yell at her to get out of here, stay safe with Sam, but he knew he didn't have enough time for that, so he quickly reversed the Impala and took off with her.
As expected, the truck followed him on a wild ride through the misty, dark roads. "What the hell are you doing here?!" Dean finally scolded the young woman looking at the back of the car to make sure the truck was still there.
"I don't know! I figured, if spirits can't hurt me when I'm with you, maybe you won't die in a car accident caused by one of them if I'm also in the car!"
"What if you're wrong?!"
"That's the 'I don't know' part, Winchester!" Alina hurriedly grabbed her phone and called Sam. She was relieved when he quickly answered, and furious when she heard his first request.
"Hey, you gotta give me a minute."
"We don't have a freaking minute, Samuel!" She clearly didn't feel safe with the truck's powerful headlights blinding her, every time she turned to look at it.
"What is he doing?!" Dean also lost his patience, doing his best not to get caught up by the truck. He couldn't let anything happen to Alina.
"Let me get back to you." And just like that, he hung up. Alina watched her phone, stunned to see that the call had really ended. She opened her mouth in shock.
"He's gotta be kidding me!"
"Well just call him back!"
"He said he needed a minute!"
"We don't have a minute!"
"No shit! Where were you when I said that just a few seconds ago?!"
"Oh I'm sorry if I can't hear everything you say! I'm keeping us alive here!"
Alina was about to yell back at him when the truck suddenly back-ended the Impala, which made the car skid all over the road before regaining traction. The young woman put her hand on the dashboard to keep her balance. "Okay don't listen to me! Just go, go, go!"
Dean obeyed and accelerated. Alina's phone rang just once before she immediately took the call. "Sam?!"
"All right, Alina?"
"This better be good." Dean complained, not taking his eyes off the road ahead of him.
"Where are you?"
"In the middle of nowhere with a killer truck on our ass! Is this why you called?!"
"Listen to me, this is important. I have to know exactly where you are."
Alina groaned and looked at a road sign the Impala was just passing. "Decatur road, about two miles off the highway."
"Ok. Headed East?"
"Yes!"
The truck once again hit the Impala from behind, and Dean did his best to stay in control of the skidding car. "You son of a bitch!"
Sam heard his brother's voice next to Alina and tried to hurry up. "Ok, ahhh, turn right! Up ahead, turn right."
"Right! Right!" Alina quickly waved her hand in the direction they needed to take, and as Dean swung right, the truck also followed them.
"Now what?!" Dean shouted so his brother could also hear him. "You need to move this thing along a little faster!"
"All right, you see a road up ahead?"
Alina tried looking for what he was talking about, and couldn't see it until they got a little closer. "Yeah! I see it!"
The truck was gaining ground on the Impala's left side.
"Okay, turn left."
Alina looked at the truck blocking the way and let out another groan as she quickly had to find of a solution. Luckily she did. "Dean, hit the breaks!"
"What?!"
"Do it!"
Dean grimaced, but he eventually listened to her as he slammed on the brakes, making the truck drive past them.
"Okay left! Now, left!"
Dean spun the Impala left onto the smaller road, waiting for Alina to get the next indications from Sam. She stayed silent for a moment, then turned back at him. "You need to go seven tenths of a mile and then stop."
"Stop?!"
"Exactly seven tenths Dean!" Alina repeated as Sam was yelling in her ear to insist on that information.
Dean looked at the speedometer. "Seven tenths, seven tenths…"
And at the right moment, Dean turned the car around and moved it back to be exactly where Sam advised. Alina could see the remains of a wall near them, and she didn't even have time to question Sam about it since the ghost truck reappeared back down the road they'd came down, revving it's engine to scare them. But they kept following Sam's advices, patiently waiting for the truck to come at them.
"You sure about this?" Dean asked his brother now on speaker phone, right before the truck came barreling towards the Impala. The two hunters watched it come, hanging tightly to the steering wheel and the dashboard. And as it finally reached them, Dean automatically wrapped his arms around Alina who buried her face into his chest, waiting for the impact with their eyes closed.
But it never came. The truck roared one last time through them, disintegrating into nothing as he did.
When the hunters heard the sudden silence surrounding them, they opened their eyes to see that the truck was now gone. They looked behind the car, everywhere, but it was nowhere to be found.
"Alina? Dean? You still there?"
They kept checking their surroundings before Dean replied in utter shock. "Where'd it go?"
"Dean, you're where the church was."
"What church?!"
Alina took a quick glance at the remains, and it all suddenly made sense. "The one Cyrus burned down with all those kids inside."
"There's not a whole lot left."
But as Dean was still looking at the remains, Alina realized what they were doing here. Why Sam had brought them here. And it was insane!
"Church ground is hallowed ground, whether the church is still there or not. Evil spirits cross over hallowed ground, sometimes they're destroyed, so I figured, maybe, that would get rid of it."
"Maybe?" Dean turned to his brother's friend, and noticed how furious she was. So he'd heard it correctly?! "Maybe?! What if you were wrong?!"
A short silence. Until…a little chuckle.
"Honestly that thought hadn't occurred to me."
Dean stared at the phone, astonished, then hung up mimicking his brother's nonchalant tone. "Well it honestly didn't occur to me." He angrily hit the steering wheel.
"Well at least we're still alive…"
"I'm gonna kill him."
"No you won't."
"Fine…you do it."
Alina let her head fall on the back of her seat, nervously laughing at the situation. "Yeah. I'll do it."
THE NEXT DAY
Alina was sitting on the backseat of the Impala with Sam on the driver's seat. They were waiting for Dean as he was saying his last goodbyes to Cassie.
"You're seriously okay with leaving the two of them alone?" Sam asked, still trying to tease her now that the job was done.
"Okay…you know what, Sammy? I know what you're trying to do. And although I'm more than thankful for whatever you told Dean back at the docks, you know you can't get in my mind like you so easily get into his, right?"
Sam smiled at her in the rearview mirror. "I've been playing dumb for the last few months, Alina. You can't get mad at me just because I'm happy for my brother and my best friend."
"Of course not. But I can still randomly kick your ass if you keep messing with me."
"Well…I can still mess with him, right?"
"Oh you definitely can and should."
They both laughed and saw Dean walking out of Cassie's house alone. When Alina noticed the way she was smiling at him like a total idiot, she got out of the car before Sam could also see her face, walking straight towards Dean to meet him halfway.
"Hey Frenchy. Ready to…"
She cut him short once she reached him, pulled his face towards her and started passionately kissing him. Dean was surprised but didn't refuse it, sliding his hands under her jacket to press her against him and softly caress her back. He loved the way her lips tasted like coffee and pastries in the morning, and how her skin smelled like vanilla and leather. She kept kissing him until she bit his lower lip playfully and pulled away to see the mesmerized look on his face.
"Ready?"
"Yes ma'am."
She laughed and pulled him towards the car with her. Of course Sam had the biggest smile on his lips when he started the engine, and they drove away.
"I guess we should visit your exes more often." Sam joked, getting an annoyed look from his brother before he put his sunglasses on and slouched down in the seat with a sigh.
"Why don't you wake me up when it's my turn to drive?"
Sam shook his head in amusement, until he heard a faint melody coming from behind him. Alina was absentmindedly looking through her window, and her moving lips confirmed that she was the one singing. Her friend had to really focus in order to hear the words coming out of her mouth.
"Mmm, baby I'm so into you. Darling, if you only knew, all the things that flow through my mind."
"Wait isn't that a Mariah Carey song?" Sam grabbed her attention, and the moment she heard those words, she smacked her hand on her mouth, already starting to turn red from embarrassment.
Dean obviously had to sit back up, take off his sunglasses and look back at her with a childish grin that made the girl blush even more. "I think you're right Sammy. It is a Mariah Carey song."
"Shut up!" Alina yelled, looking away.
"Did I miss something?" Sam was intrigued by their reactions and was dying to know the reason of Alina's embarrassment.
"No! Keep driving! Stop talking!"
Alina sighed, but when she finally met Dean's eyes again, his obvious satisfaction made her lose her patience and temper. "Don't smile!"
"I'm not smiling!"
"You are! It's not funny!"
"It's a little funny…"
Alina suddenly jumped towards the front to wrap her arm around Dean's neck and cover his mouth with her second hand.
"Guys I'm driving!" Sam scolded them, being completely ignored by the fighting lovers next to him as Dean finally got her hand away from his mouth.
"Come on Frenchy! Why don't you keep singing?!"
"Why don't you go to sleep?!"
"Maybe I will if you sing!"
"Maybe I'm gonna put you to sleep myself!"
"Guys! Come on!"
They kept driving like that for a few miles. Dean and Alina fighting like children, Sam trying to separate them while keeping his eyes on the road. The three of them definitely made one happy and weird family…
And they couldn't ask for more.
Okay…I really hope you enjoyed this chapter, I don't know if I'm fully satisfied of it but I've spent a long time on it and I just couldn't think of anything else to add. But I loved writing Dean and Alina's interactions here!
Also, I'm thinking of writing an original chapter between episodes 15 and 16, with Marcus and Elias' return. I'm just curious to write about Dean and Elias having to team up for Alina, so let me know if you'd be interested in that, or if you want me to just keep following the storyline!
Thank you again for reading and supporting my work guys! Have a nice day/night!
