Chapter 12

Brooke was speechless. Karen purposely bringing her parents to town. It just didn't seem right. The Karen she had known wouldn't do that.
Karen sighed deeply. (When I had Lucas. My parents wanted nothing to do with me.)
(I didn't grow up with alot of money so getting pregnant made things more difficult.)
(I know you and you're parents don't get along. But that can be repaired.)
(Going going to need them. They have money and resources to make everything easier.) Karen explained.
(I don't care about any of that. I don't want a relationship with them and I don't need anything to be easy. I knew that being pregnant so young was going to be hard. I'm ready for that.) Brooke replied.
(No you aren't. You and my son believe love and a positive outlook is all it takes when the reality is. You're life will never be the same. The sacrifices and difficult choices only grow as the child does. Larry is in town. For Peyton.)
(He'll be there to offer support and understanding and anything else she needs.)
(I will do the same for my son.) Karen explained.
(Why can't you do the same for me?) Brooke asked.
(Because I don't have anymore to spare Brooke.)
(I care for you I do. But this life wasn't what I wanted for him.)
(One child is easier to juggle then too. In time the both of you will understand why it had to be this way.) Karen stated matter of fact.
She watched Brooke leave the cafe. Knowing this was the right choice for everyone involved.
In a few years they would understand this. Karen thought to herself.

I'm writing this to you because at this point. I need you to know that I didn't want any of this to happen. I know we never planned to have a family so young. But I thought we could do it because we would be in it together. I don't know know where I'll end up and what will happen once the baby is born. But hold on to this.
