Our Middle
Chapter 16
(I just need you here with us. When he's born. I want you to be as involved as you want to be.) Peyton replied.
(I'm going to be there for you and our son as much as possible. I have my own stuff I need to figure out too. But you and our son are a priority for me. Just like Brooke and the daughter we share are my world now.)
(I know none of this is going to be easy and you and Brooke are not exactly friends but hopefully as the kids grow up. We can all find some common ground.) Lucas replied.
(I'm open to that. My dad is staying in town. He's looking into getting is a bigger place. A room for me. Baby boy and him. I'm finally really going to have my dad as a stable presence in my life and I'm looking forward to it. I know we have to figure out our dynamic as parents but the door is open for you I want our son to have his dad.) Peyton explained.
Peyton took Lucas 's hand in hers. Placing it on her belly.
(He kicks around so much all the time especially at night. I think we have a basketball player on our hands. But then again he loves my music. So we'll see.) Peyton said.
(I'm excited to see if he takes after me or you.) Lucas replied
...
(It's okay Amy. Momma 's here. And she is going to love and protect you no matter what.) Brooke stated matter of fact.
She cradled the infant until she calmed down.
(Mommy needs a job. Aunt Rachel gave us this apartment but I have to provide for you.)
Victoria and Ted took out any money Brooke had in her bank account.
And she didn't have money to reopen it.
Brooke stared over at her daughter in the baby swing.
Currently minium wage was 7.25.
According to what I had looked up. And just going by the baby aisle.
Took alot out of me. I have no money. I'm on my own.
I have a daughter I'm trying to raise. I can't depend on my friends and I won't be some obligation or burden to Lucas.
He's the father of our daughter. He's not boyfriend. He doesn't owe me anything.
I decided to parent so I would do what I had to do. Brooke decided.
...
Weeks Later
You're dad was by my side. For a whole day. While you took you're time being born.
He fed me ice chips. And kept me distracted and encouraged me when I felt like I couldn't do it anymore.
Don't let anyone ever tell you. You weren't created from love.
There are different types of love and affection and connection you can have for someone.
Lucas and I were undefined and I was more than okay with that.
I never needed anyone. Besides you're Mom B.
Lucas changed my life and my heart and he knew that.
You're birth only clarified what we both knew. There would always be something between us.
The doctors cleaned you up and I stared into you're eyes.
You were all blond hair and blue eyes. Of course I spent a day bringing you into the world and you come out looking like a mini Lucas.
Larry Keith Scott was you're name.I watched you're dad and you interact and I
Saw the the love. The connection.
I loved him even more for giving me you. Peyton thought to herself. As she was taken to recovery.
(You know you can't continue to live here. You're a father of two now.)
(At 17 years old. This breaks my heart. I can only imagine what Keith would say.) Karen said.
Lucas glared at her. (What about you're actions? You can't possibly think any of that was right? None of that was you're choice!) Lucas exclaimed.
(I struggled every day raising you and running that cafe.)
And here you are continuing the cycle. I hope you know what you're doing.)
(Where are you going to live? How are you going to provide for yourself and these babies? Because I can't help you.) Karen questioned.
(I'll figure it out.) Lucas replied.
