Our Middle

Chapter 17

When I envisioned graduating high school. I never saw myself getting my diploma in the mail

But I was and would remain proud of it.

According the my OBGYN. I had successfully passed my six week check up and was healed and ready to return to normal activities.

Which meant I was going to fully focus on the job hunt.

I walked around with Amy. And went into places where I saw that they were hiring.

I didn't really have job experience so I decided to just be honest about my situation.

(It's either the cafe or the auto body shop.)

(You're worked both paved over the years. Dan owns it now. And you own the cafe.) Karen explained.

(I would rather not have to go to either. But I'll apply to both.) Lucas replied.

..

(What can I do for you sweetheart?) Karen asked. As the lunch rush started to slow.

(I need a job. Any job. Are you hiring?) Peyton asked.

(What have an opening for a waitress position. If you're interested.) Karen replied.

(Whenever you need me.) Peyton replied.

...

Rachel was off to LA. To pursue her modeling.

Nathan and Haley were going out of town for college. Same for Mouth. Skills. Who were going to be roommates.

Me Lucas and Peyton. Were staying in town.

Trying to find our way. And build a life.

...

My first attempt at making money. Was to sell my designer clothes.

When I ran out.

I decided to work at one of the bars in town with the use of my fake ID.

Which worked for awhile. When I saw other girls dancing on the bar and the crowd.

Seeing them put money away in and bras.

I was up there. Add soon as I could.

Bringing home money I could actually save and keep.

But I needed more stability. And I asked around.

And heard that some girls made even more money than dancing on the bar stool.

And all they had to do was play a part and lose some clothes.

Those nights brought the real money.

And I couldn't refuse. Especially after that first night.

Lucas and I traded off whenever we had work.

He didn't ask questions and neither did I.

On stage. I wasn't Brooke. I was Penelope.
