This chapter is based on Mr Pigeon, featuring Evie with some changes.
Evie was in class, listening to Mr Damocles. He had come to the class to make an announcement about a fashion contest that the school would be hosting.
"You only have one day to work on your fashion piece and it must be your own design. In ten hours your fittest presentation will be judged by none other than the great fashion designer Gabriel Agreste, the father of our very own student Adrien Agreste. In fact, Adrien will model the winning design in his next photoshoot. And now, to announce this year's theme: derby hats," Mr Damocles told the class.
Evie looked around and noticed that most people in her class didn't seem interested in the contest. Only a few of them looked interested. There was Chloe Bourgeois, the daughter of the Mayor. Evie had been warned about Chloe and her behaviour towards others. Next there was Rose Lavilliant and Juleka Couffanie. Finally, there was Marinette. Evie remembered that Marinette enjoyed designing and wanted to be a fashion designer.
Evie walked out of school with Caragh.
"Is your class taking part in the hat contest?" Evie asked.
"Yeah. I think there's a few people making derby hats." Caragh replied.
The two girls found somewhere to sit and spend their lunch break.
They watched as people walked past them. One of the people the walked past them was a tall man with orange hair, strong, gold eyes and olive skin. He wore a grey suit, grey hat, dark grey waistcoat, white shirt and a big teal bow tie. On his feet, he wore a pair of sandals. He had a birdcall around his neck.
"What an interesting character," Caragh said.
The man sat down on one of the benches and fed the birds. One of the birds landed on his shoulder and the man started talking to it.
"Yeah. He's like one of those bird tamers, you know the ones that have the owls and birds of prey," Evie added.
Evie and Caragh decided that they were going to take a short walk before returning to school for the afternoon lessons. As they walked, they noticed that Pigeons were blocking the road, causing traffic jams. People gathered round a TV screen where Nadja Chamack was speaking.
"Pigeons have taken over Paris. This just one of the many alarming situations giving authorities cause for major concern. I've just been told that someone named Mr. Pigeon is making an announcement," Nadja said.
The screen showed the Eiffel Tower. A man dressed in a full body skin tight jumpsuit with black forearms, waist and thighs, dark grey belly, light grey chest, shoulders, biceps and pale light greyish amaranth shins and head. The suit also had black stripes on his triceps and two light blue diamond shapes at the top. Around his neck was a birdcall.
"Oh, dreary days, poor Parisians. Sorry to ruffle your feathers but Paris belongs to the Pigeons," Mr Pigeon said as he blew the whistle, and made bird noise before being carried away from the tower by lots of pigeons.
"We should probably try and get home or somewhere safe," Caragh said.
"Yeah, I think that's a good idea," Evie said.
The girls went their separate ways. Evie found a place to hide and Starr came out of her pocket.
"Starr, blend in," Evie said. She transformed into Snow Leopard.
Evie finds herself on the rooftops of Paris, looking for Ladybug and Chat Noir. Pigeons were flying in odd formations. She eventually located them.
"Birds of a feather flock together," Chat Noir said. He sneezed. "I'm allergic to feathers."
"That's helpful," Ladybug said.
"Someone likes Pigeons," Evie added as she joined them.
"The pigeons are not the only problem. The park keepers have disappeared without a trace," Chat Noir said.
"What? We have to find Mr Pigeon," Ladybug said.
"How are we going to find him?" Chat Noir asked.
"I don't know where we can find him but I do know where he can find us," Ladybug said.
Ladybug and Snow Leopard hid behind a tree in a park while Chat Noir pretended to be a park keeper. Chat Noir started to dance.
"Act natural or he won't show up," Ladybug said.
"What do you mean? I am acting natural," Chat Noir said.
A few minutes went by and there was still no sign of Mr Pigeon.
"Do you think he fell for it?" Evie asked.
Pigeons started to come towards the groups. They formed a large ball around Chat Noir and carried him away.
"I'm going to go with yes," Ladybug said as she took her Yo-Yo from her hip and pulled herself up to the rooftops. Evie followed.
Ladybug and Evie (Snow Leopard) found themselves at Le Grand Paris Hotel, Chat Noir had been dropped there but there was no sign of the park keepers.
The pigeons looked at the three heroes.
"Where's the bird brain, Mr Pigeon?" Chat Noir asked.
"He's gotta be here somewhere," Ladybug replied. Mr Pigeon appeared on top of a swarm of pigeons. He used his bird call and the pigeons circled the three heroes.
"Call me crazy, but I feel like bird seed all of a sudden," Ladybug said.
"Got any bright ideas, bug?" Chat Noir asked.
"You're the cats, don't you eat these things for breakfast?" Ladybug asked as a large cage dropped down, trapping them.
"Turpy day, I'm so ruthless" Mr Pigeon chuckled and then made bird noises. "Your miraculous. Give them to me or face the wrath of my feathered friends."
Mr Pigeon used his bird call and the pigeons land on top of the cage. "On the count of three my beloved pigeons will commence fire. You can still save your sorry skins by handing me your miraculous."
"Chat, destroy the bars," Evie said, remembering what he did when they fought Pharaoh.
Chat Noir used his cataclysm to destroy the bars on the cage. Ladybug, Chat Noir and Evie spin and twirl their weapons as Mr Pigeon moved back to the edge of the roof.
"Looks like the pigeons is really a chicken," Evie teased.
"I'm not flying away. I'm just killing two birds with one stone," Mr Pigeon said as he jumped over the edge of the roof, his pigeons caught him and carried him away.
Another group of pigeons dived towards the heroes. They hurried over the stairs and into the hotel, closing the door behind them.
"I'm not done with you yet," Mr Pigeon said.
Ladybug, Chat Noir and Snow Leopard hurried down the stairs.
"I'm really starting to dislike pigeons," Evie said.
"Who knew that pigeons could be so annoying," Ladybug added
Chat Noir's ring beeped. He only had four minutes before he transformed back.
"I've gotta get out of here before my secret identity's revealed," Chat Noir told them.
"Yeah, you wouldn't want to let the cat out of the bag," Ladybug said as they entered the main lobby of the hotel.
"Ladybug, Chat Noir, Snow Leopard, I'm in great danger of losing big bucks if my guests leave Paris. You are going to get rid of those pigeons, aren't you?" Andre asked.
"Of course. Before we do I have an urgent need" Chat Noir said.
"I see. Head to the royal sweet. There's paper in there but perhaps you would prefer a litter tray?" Andre said.
"Oh, there's no need for the litter. Could I have some Camembert tho?" Chat Noir said.
Andre looked at Ladybug and Snow Leopard. They both shrugged their shoulders.
Evie (Snow Leopard) and Ladybug used the lift to get to the top floor so they could have a better view. They walked over to the big glass window and looked out.
"The pigeons are flying in one direction," Ladybug said.
"If we follow them then I bet we can find Mr Pigeon," Evie added.
The lift dinged and Chat Noir stood waiting for them.
"Ready when you are," Chat Noir said.
Ladybug, Chat Noir and Evie followed the pigeons. They found themselves outside Grand Palais, inside was a cage holding the park keepers.
"So that's where Mr Pigeon is keeping the park keepers," Ladybug said.
"The Grand Palais," Chat Noir said. He was about to sneeze but Ladybug stopped him. "My pigeon radar is on high alert."
"Mr Pigeons left them unattended. He's ever really silly or thinks we will fall for his trap," Evie said.
"Yeah, it's too easy. I have a plan tho," Ladybug said.
The three heroes head to the glass roof of the Grand Palais.
"If we can destroy the bird call we'll be able to capture the Akuma. Ok, Chat, open the window, I'll grab him and yank him up onto the roof then Snowy can grab the bird call from him," Ladybug said.
"Let's go, early bird catches the worm," Chat Noir said as he opened the window.
Feathers flew up as a gust of wind from the open window blew through. Chat Noir sneezed which caused Ladybug to miss Mr Pigeon.
"So much for the element of surprise," Ladybug said as they jumped down and landed safely on the ground. They run after Mr Pigeon until he sends two spheres made from Pigeons towards them, knocking them back.
Ladybug decided that it was time to use her 'Lucky Charm' She got a coin.
"You can't buy yourself out of here," Mr Pigeon told her.
Ladybug ran towards him and used her Yo-Yo making sure that it wrapped around his left ankle. She then jumped up onto one of the beams and tied some Yo-Yo string around it, lifting Mr Pigeon up. Ladybug hurried over to the vending machine and brought a bag of popcorn.
"Chat Noir" Ladybug called as she tossed the bag of popcorn towards him. Chat used his stick to break open the popcorn. A shower of popcorn fell down and landed on Mr Pigeon.
"Snack time Pigeons," Ladybug said.
Evie smirked. It was quite amusing.
"Grab the bird call," Ladybug said. Chat Noir managed to grab it but he sneezed and dropped it. Evie ran over and grabbed it, before throwing it over to Ladybug. The bird call broke, freeing the Akuma.
"No more evildoing for you little Akuma" Ladybug said "Time to de-evilize" She captured and purified the akuma before freeing it. "Bye-bye, little butterfly."
"Miraculous Ladybug" Ladybug called as she throw her charm into the air, fixing the trouble caused by Mr Pigeon. Mr Pigeon turned back into his civilian self. Evie was surprised to see that it was the man from the park.
"What happened?" He asked and looked at the three heroes.
After de-transforming, Evie hurried back to school. It was almost time to announce the winner of the derby hat contest. The students that entered the competition had their hats on stands and stood by their designs. Mr Damocles stood at the front with Adrain and another woman. The woman had bluebell eyes, and black hair with a streak on the left side that is dyed red. Her hair was tied in a bun with hair on top and a piece of it hanging over her face.
"Hello, Mr Damocles, I am Mr Agreste's executive assistant Nathalie" Nathalie said.
"Pardon me but where is Mr Agreste?" Mr Damocles asked.
Nathalie held a tablet in front of her. "I'm here."
"Welcome to our school Mr Agreste" Mr Damocles said.
"Adrian, take Nathalie around, please," Mr Agreste said.
Adrian nodded and started showing Nathalie around. His father watched on the tablet. As this happened, Marinette came running in and placed her hat on the stand. It was the same as Chloe's hat. Evie walked closer to see what would happen next.
"I apologise for the situation Mr Agreste but I can prove that this derby hat is my original design," Marinette said, sounding confident.
"Go ahead," Mr Agreste told her.
"Um, everything on my derby hat is hand made, from the embroidery to the weaving of the band and the stitching of the brim. All done by myself. And last there's a special element that only the true designer knows about. I signed mine" Marinette explained as she showed the different parts of her hat and the unique signature on the hat.
Chloe knocked her hat on the floor which showed that she had copied Marinette's design. She ran out of the school crying.
"Very exquisite creation. You definitely have the labouring hands of a hat maker, Miss" Mr Agreste said.
"Marinette" Adrian added, as he placed his hand on Marinette's shoulder.
"Congratulations on your demonstration, Miss Marinette. You're the winner" Mr Agreste announced.
"Thank you," Marinette said.
"Adrian will wear your hat at the next advertising campaign," Mr Agreste said.
"Well done, Marinette," Evie said.
"Thank you, Evie," Marinette replied.
Evie smiled at them before walking away to find Caragh.
