Overly Cynical;

Creepy ass kid.

Naomi didn't bother sneaking into the Sun Dorms. She ran through the front doors and headed straight to her dorm room. She slammed the door shut and breathed heavily – her lungs begging for air, Fuck. Fuck. Fuck, she kicked the door, Fuck!

Asuna stirred behind her. She rubbed her eyes from the drowsiness.

"Where were you, Nao?" a small voice asked, "I was worried."

Naomi gulped and calmed her breathing, "I was in town."

"Oh..." Asuna sank back down into her pillow, "The Headmaster wanted to see you." She looked at Naomi's back. Asuna expected her to turn around and smile with an amusing answer, but Naomi did not face her. She kept her back turned toward her and stayed silent.

Naomi couldn't face her – she was too shaken; too manic. Asuna would know something was wrong for sure.

"Probably about Akira Saito," Naomi breathed out.

Asuna sighed, "Probably," rubbed her eyes again, "Nao, are you okay?"

Naomi needed to turn around. She needed to face her, otherwise – otherwise, "Yeah," she smiled at her roommate, "I'm just tired."

Asuna gave her a small smile and pointed at Naomi's bed, "He left something on your bed."

Naomi's gaze shifted to her bed and saw a small black box. She reached for it and opened it – there was a note inside.

In case, you change your mind.

- Headmaster Cross

A prefect sash was folded neatly in the box.

"Since when are you becoming a prefect?"

Naomi glared at the piece of cloth as if she needed another thing to worry about, "I'm not dealing with this." She reached for a pair of scissors on her nightstand, "I." Cut, "Don't." Cut, "Care." Cut, "About" Cut, "The" Cut, "Stupid" Cut, "Night" Cut, "Class."

She let the pieces fall inside the box, Vampires are not my problem to deal with.

Asuna watched her intently. "Nao," a newfound concern bloomed in her chest, "are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Naomi said, "It's late, we should go to sleep."

Naomi climbed into bed and Asuna, in one more attempt to comfort her friend, said, "Please talk to me, Nao. You're obviously not fine."

She couldn't have Asuna worrying about her. She did not need to add her to her list of problems right now.

"I went to a party tonight," Naomi looked at Asuna, "I shouldn't have. I know, but I've just been so stressed about everything with Haruto and Akira Saito that I thought –" she buried her face in her hands, "I don't know what I thought."

It wasn't a complete lie. She did need to unwind but their murdering professor was the last thing on her mind.

Naomi heard Asuna shift, "I get it," she said softly. "You needed a break."

"I just want to sleep."

Asuna nodded and laid back down.

Naomi focused on her roommate's breathing. She needed to focus on it otherwise her mind would be flooded with images she didn't want to see, but nothing stopped her mind. The haunting images popped like pins in her mind's eyes.

Creepy kid with creepy eyes.

Blink, another image.

Blood and fangs...Zero.

Blink, another image.

A red X crossing at Naoto's eyes.

Blink, another image.

The Night Class files:Vampires.

It was then she realized she hadn't changed her clothes or taken off her shoes, but she didn't care. Nothing seemed to matter anymore, not publicly humiliating Yina, not breaking into the teacher's house. It was all nothing. It brought her a sick sense of joy but for how long? A couple of minutes before reality came crashing down on her.

Tanaka was right. Why couldn't she just mind her own damn business? Why did she have to stick her nose into everything? Now she was in deeper than before, and she had no one to blame but herself. Naomi regretted ever finding out about the Night Class and everything that has happened since.

Great, I'm fifteen and having a midlife crisis. Naomi rubbed her violet eyes, Maybe, I should just transfer back to Yosagami... Sure, I was a stoned cold bitch but at least my problems weren't about mythical creatures that were meant to be fiction and only, fiction. She stared at the ceiling, and what is up with Zero being in the Day Class?! Excuse me, Headmaster, you missed a vampire! Oh my God, he's a vampire! The thing the prefects are supposed to be protecting us from is one of them. What if he attacks another student? Naomi's eyes widen, He's also hot, but that is so not the point. The guy who came to Yuki's rescue knew about him, so why didn't the Headmaster? Unless he did and he knowingly let him stay with a bunch of normal, defenseless humans! She covered her eyes with her hands, and he has an abundance of more vampires just right next door to us! I should leave town!

Naomi buried her face in her pillow, get a hold of yourself, you can't run away from your problems!

That's literally what I did all day, today.

Naomi's was a mess. Her thoughts were a mess. Her whole life right now was a mess. It was she could think about the entire night until she heard birds chirping outside.

"Shit," she whispered, then she got up and changed into her uniform.

Naomi grabbed the box next to her; I should just throw it away.

She chucked it in the trash bin before grabbing the doorknob.

"You're already changed?" Asuna asked in a sleepy tone behind her.

Naomi smiled, "Yeah, I'm gonna head out." She opened the door, "See you in class," and closed it.

I'm a terrible friend, I'm lying to her and all she knows is this watered-down version of me. Naomi walked out of Sun Dorms; as if she'd ever be friends with the person who humiliated Yina and didn't even feel guilty about it.

"Hey!" Someone cheerfully called out to her.

Naomi sluggishly turned to see who was calling out to her with such optimism: It was Yuki.

Go away.

"Why aren't you wearing the prefect arm band?" She tugged at her own sash.

How are you so cheerful? Thought Naomi, Zero sunk his teeth in your neck.

"I cut it into pieces," Naomi deadpanned, "you can find it in the trash."

Yuki frowned, "But I thought after last night you would change your mind."

Naomi snapped, "You thought wrong. If anything I'm less inclined to."

"W-well," Yuki stuttered and before she could continue to finish her sentence, Naomi cut her off.

"I actually don't care what you have to say." With that, Naomi turned her back to Yuki and walked towards the academic building leaving a bewildered prefect behind.

Naomi stepped into her classroom and, unsurprisingly, found it empty. She sat in her regular seat and took out her notebook. She began to doodle all around the pages – ranging from a cup of coffee to a comical skull as she let her mind wander to happier things only to find that there weren't happy things happening in her life right now. Last night was just instant gratification.

Well, at least Zero will be put in the Night Class and he won't be a hazard to the Day Class students, at least, she hoped he would be put into the Night Class. Or maybe not, Zero is the Headmaster's adoptive son. I doubt he didn't know Zero was vampire.

And Naomi was right. The conversation in the Headmaster's office was proof. She was not there, she was drawing in an empty classroom as the conversation was happening unbeknownst to her. Zero would not be moving to the Night Class but he wasn't a danger to anyone except maybe, Yuki.

Cross sighed when he heard what happened this morning. "Did she now?" His eyebrows raised, "She's quite stubborn." He then smiled, "Yuki, why don't you take her to meet Kaname today? She should meet the Moon dorm's president officially."

Yuki frowned, "I don't think she likes me very much."

The Chairman pouted, "Who could hate you, my sweet daughter!?" Sparkling tears began to shine in his eyes.

Yuki gave him an unamused look.

Cross coughed and composed himself, "Tell her as per our agreement, it's mandatory."
