This is chapter 2 on Neo's mission. This is where things start to get good. Enjoy!
Ruby woke up only to realise she had passed out cold. She tried to sit upwards but fails due to a a pain in her neck. She tilted her head and saw a fireplace lit up, and a cup of what smelled like chocolate on a coffee table beside her. She wanted it so badly but didn't trust it, for all she knew, it could be poisoned.
Neo: You can drink it, it's not poisoned.
Ruby jumped once she heard the voice. She looked to her right only to see Neo sitting on a couch with the same blanket wrapped around her. She was also drinking a mug with some form of drink in it.
Neo: It's hot chocolate, it isn't poisoned.
Ruby: you're not trying to kill me?
Neo: Why should I?
Ruby: I thought you were mad at me for what happened to Torchwick.
Neo: It wasn't your fault, nor mine. It was a griffon from the many in the sky.
Ruby felt a bit of relief hearing this, at least she didn't have to worry about Neo seeking revenge on her. She took the mug and began to drink.
Neo: You can stay here as long as you need, I don't mind.
Ruby: Listen… I'm sorry about what happened, I didn't think that…
Neo: It's fine, I don't blame you. If anything, I should be thanking you, if you didn't open my umbrella, my fate would have been the same as Roman's.
Ruby was speechless, she had unknowingly saved a life and yet, she still felt bad about what happened to Roman and how it affected this girl.
Ruby: I just realised, I never got your name.
Neo: My name is Neopolitan, but my friends call me Neo…
There was a moment of silence, Ruby realised Neo didn't have any more friends, so she decided to befriend her ex-enemy.
Ruby: I'm aware that Roman was your only friend, I say we change that.
Ruby held out her hand, waiting for Neo to shake it. Neo was unsure of what to do, she wanted a friend again, but she wasn't sure about Ruby.
Neo: You… want to be… my friend? Even after all I did, after all I've done to you and your friends?
Ruby: A wise man once said, it doesn't matter who or what we were, it's about who we choose to become. The same man believed in second chances, so I believe you can change for the better!
After hearing this, Neo extended her hand and shake it with Ruby.
Ruby: So… what now?
Neo: I guess we go to bed.
Ruby slept in Neo's spare room, it was originally meant to be Roman's, but he wasn't gonna use it anytime soon. Neo tried to sleep but couldn't because of the reoccurring dream. Eventually she woke up screaming after her dream had shifted into something more horrifying. It was like the dream had mutated somehow.
Ruby: Neo! Are you alright?
Neo: Just a bad dream…
Ruby: You too huh? After beacon, I've had this terrible and constant dream. Eventually it mutated becoming more horrifying.
Neo was shocked hearing this, she wasn't the only one with bad dreams.
Ruby: If you want, we could… sleep together?
Neo: No offence but… that sounds weird.
Ruby: Think of it, we would be protecting each other and would provide warmth for each other as well.
Neo took a second to think about this, Ruby had made some valid points, but she didn't know how the heat was transferred.
Neo: For the heat to be transferred, there can't be any barrier, that means… clothes.
Ruby: Well, then we will keep the two most important clothes on and take off the rest.
Neo: … Fine, just look the other way and I'll do the same.
Ruby and Neo both faced opposite directions and began to take off their clothing. Afterwards, Ruby got into Neo's bed just as Neo moved over. The two soon snuggled up close to each other, allowing them both to fall asleep peacefully.
