The Poison and The Saikan Chushutsu no Jutsu

"Tch," Jiriaya clicked his tongue in annoyance, "she was here last night, but no one seems to know where the hell she went!"

Jiraiya made his way out of the local casino in the small village in the north fire country. Unfortunately, Jiriaya was worried that Tsunade had already caught wind that he was looking for her. An hour or so later, the white haired man sat under a tree just outside the small village. Making a few hand signs, he summoned a small tracker toad. Jiraiya smiled at the small toad named Kōsuke. He was predominantly red in color with blue markings around his eyes and on the top of his head. He also wore a pair of green goggles around his neck.

"I know you are a messenger toad, but I need your help finding someone," Jiriaya asked.

"Yes?" the toad replied.

"I know you know who Tsunade is," Jiraiya said.

"Hai," the toad replied, "is that who I am to find?"

"Yes, I need to you tell her that Minato's gaki is a lot of trouble and the Hokage is asking for her return in order to help him," Jiraiya explained.

"Naruto-sama is in trouble?" the toad asked.

"Yes he is," Jiriaya nodded, "I need you to find her and tell her to contact me as soon as possible."

"Yes, sir!" the toad replied before disappearing in a cloud of smoke.

Jiriaya sighed, Where are you Hime?

oOo

"Damn it!" A woman with long blonde hair pulled back into two low ponytails yelled as she slammed her fists into the poker table, cracking it slightly.

"Tsunade-sama," a young woman with short brown hair called quietly trying to sooth her otherwise short tempered companion, "Perhaps that is enough for one night?"

"No, Shizune!" Tsunade cried back, "I'm not done yet!"

"But Tsuna-" Shizune started but was cut off but a puff of smoke coming from the poker table.

"What the hell!" Tsunade yelled standing up and throwing her hands on the table, knocking her chair over in the process.

"Tsunade-sama," a voice called as the smoke started to clear.

"Shit! A toad!" Tsunade swore, "I knew that old man was looking for me!"

"Tsunade-sama! Wait! Its Minato's Gaki!" the toad called as soon as he saw the blonde was about to make a run for it.

"Naruto?" Tsunade replied, "what's wrong with him?"

"Jiraiya- sama didn't give me any details but he said that Naruto-sama is in trouble and that the Hokage has summoned you back to village to help him," the toad explained.

"Tsunade-sama, Naruto-kun must be in a lot of trouble for the Hokage to summon you back," Shizune said.

"I know," Tsunade replied.

"Jiriaya said to contact him as soon as possible," the toad continued.

"I see," Tsunade replied closing her eyes debating on what to do, "Go, and tell Jiraiya he can find me at the Taki Inn in the Suiro Village."

"Hai!" the toad called and disappeared in another puff of smoke.

"Lets go, Shizune," Tsunade called making her way to the door, "I've got a kid to save."

"Hai!" Shizune called jogging after her.

oOo

"Hokage-sama!" a young Chunin called rushing in, "we've received a message from Jiraiya-sama!"

"Yes?" Minato asked standing up, "and?"

"He is on his way back to the village with Tsunade-sama and Shizune. He'll be here within the next twenty-four hours," the Chunin explained.

"I see," Minato replied letting out a the breath he didn't know that he had been holding, "thank you. You are dismissed."

The Chunin nodded and left the room. Minato turned to window behind his desk. Kakashi had been watching over Naruto all morning. He never left the boys side. He sometimes had to force Kakashi to go home and take a shower or get something to eat. If Naruto didn't make from this, he didn't know what would happen to his student. Minato sighed once again and headed out of his office. He would go see his son, and relieve Kakashi once again.

Moments later, Minato walked through the door of the small hospital room, which housed his still comatose son. The sight of a unnaturally still blonde boy, who was normally so loud and active, always took his breath away. With all the machines and wires connected to the blonde boy it made Minato only worry more about the state in which the boy was in. Taking a deep breath he slid the door closed, which didn't seem to stir the grey haired man sitting in the hard steel chair keeping a close eye in the boy in the bed.

"Kakashi," Minato said quietly placing a hand on the man's shoulders, "Go home. Get something to eat."

Kakashi didn't stir. Minato squeezed his shoulder, and then let go. Moving aside Minato sat on the edge of the bed, placing a gentle touch on the leg of his son. Minato looked up at Kakashi giving him a look that meant he was serious about Kakashi taking time to refresh himself. Kakashi still hesitated.

"Kakashi," Minato said, "what about Sakura and Sasuke? You have a duty to your students. What are they doing?"

"They are working with Gai's team, right now," Kakashi replied.

"And have they come to see their teammate?" Minato asked.

"Yes, they rotate days," Kakashi replied, "Sometimes they both come."

"I see," Minato replied, "You should be training them you know."

"I know, sensei," Kakashi shook his head, "But I can't focus on training them while Naruto is here. It makes me look weak but it wouldn't be fair to them."

"I understand," Minato nodded, "But you will be happy to that Jiraiya has found Tsunde and will be here in the next twenty-four hours or so."

Kakashi moved for the first time since Minato arrived, and lifting his head to meet Minato's gaze. Minato could see a small amount of hope in his student's eyes. But they both knew just because Tsunade is coming back doesn't guarantee Naruto's safe recovery. They both prayer Tsunade would live up to her reputation and use her top-notch medical skills to heal the young blonde. Kakashi nodded and turned his attention back to the blonde, watching his chest rise slowly and then fall back down.

"He looks completely normal," Kakashi commented, "its hard to imagine that he could be dying."

"I know," Minato said, "I expect him to jump up and beg me to teach him some cool new jutsu this afternoon."

"He will soon," Kakashi said confidently.

Minato only nodded in return.

oOo

"Alright, where is the Gaki?" Tsunade hollered as the strolled through the entrance of the hospital.

"Honestly, Tsunade," Jiraiya sighed, "do you have to be so obnoxious?"

Tsunade didn't answer only went up to the front desk and spoke a few words to the nurse standing there. She came back to the white haired man standing at the entrance.

"That nurse said no one is allowed into Uzumaki Naruto's room without the sole permission of Minato's" Tsunade huffed.

"Then lets go find Minato," Jiriaya said.

The party of three walked out the hospital in the direction of the Hokage tower in search of the blonde haired Hokage. Jiraiya walked next to Tsunade in quiet silence, with Shizune holding Tonton following close behind. Making their way into the office the Hokage, only to find a Chunin girl putting papers on Minato's desk.

"Yes?" the young girl asked, "Oh! Tsunade-sama, Jiriaya-sama! What can I do for you?"

"Where is the Hoakge?" Tsunade asked.

"At the hospital," the Chunin replied, "visiting his son."

"Of course!" Tsunade yelled.

"Thank you," Jiriaya rolled his eyes at the blonde's hysteria.

The group made their way back to the hospital, and called on Minato, which allowed them to enter the room that housed the young blonde boy.

"Minato," Tsunade called as entered the room.

Kakashi looked up as he heard the set of three enter the room. The grey haired man was leaning on the windowsill with his arms crossed. The one Tsunade called for was sitting on the steel chair next to the bed. Minato looked over at the blonde woman with a slight hope in his eyes. Tsunade looked over the pale blonde haired boy who unusually still in the bed, slowly breathing. It was a shock to see such an active child lie so still. He was so pale when he was normally so tan. His normal bright blonde hair had dulled and flattened. He had baggy eyes with dark circles. The boy was growing thin. It was a terrible sight even if you didn't know the boy. Tsunade knew the poison was taking its affect on the small body. Jiriaya walked in behind the blonde women and got sight of the young boy, and then Shizune followed. The unpleasant sight of Naruto stunned all three.

"How long has he been like this?" Tsunade asked walking over to the bed to examine the child's condition further.

"A little over two weeks," Minato replied.

"And how long did the nurses originally give him?"

"A month at best," Minato solemnly.

"I see," Tsunade said checking Naruto's pulse, "He won't last a month if we don't act now."

"What are you planning on doing, Tsunade?" Jiriaya asked.

Tsunade walked over and picked up the chart that was hanging on by Naruto's bed and read over the contents.

"It says here that poison is to complex for even the most skilled poison experts couldn't decode it. That means I can't make an antidote for him if I don't know the ingredients to make it," Tsunade spoke as four sets of eyes followed her, "I can try to continue to decode it, however seeing his condition, I have to make the assumption that I won't make the antidote in time. If I can get the actual poison, I can make an antidote…"

"I see," Minato nodded, "Is there anything you can do?"

"Of course, Gaki!" Tsunade yelled while whacking Minato on the head with the chart she was still holding.

"Ow!" Minato retorted rubbing his head.

"Oh come on," Tsunade huffed, "I'm the famous medic and Sannin for a reason! And I didn't hit you that hard. You are the Hokage for goodness sake. Anyways, it says here that they put him in a induced coma."

"Why did they do that?" Shizune asked walking over to read the chart for her self.

"They slowed down his body processing to slow down the rate at which the poison enters his muscles. The coma also allows for Naruto to remain as still as possible so the movement doesn't speed up the poison," Tsunade replied getting a nod of understanding from her apprentice, "It's a good thing he is out of it, because the only option I have left it a very painful technique, but it will get the job done."

"You can save him?" Kakashi asked.

Tsunade gave him a look and threaten to hit him with chart as well, which made Kakashi hold his tongue.

"I'll make a list of ingredients I'll need and make the substance I require. We will operate on Naruto tomorrow," Tsunade said, "In the mean time, care to explain to me how he got into this condition in the first place?"

Minato glanced over at Kakashi and nodded at him to tell his story once again. Once he was finished, Tsunade sighed.

"Minato, Kakashi, Jiriaya," Tsunade smiled, "You have got a lot of work to do on the boy once he is back on his feet."

"Hey! Why am I grouped in with those two!" Jiriaya questioned.

"Are you not planning on training my son, Sensei?" Minato asked teasing the white haired man a little, "you seemed to excited to a few weeks ago."

"I… um… well…" Jiriaya stuttered only making everyone laugh.

oOo

The next morning, Minato, with a new spring in his step, made his way out of Naruto's room where he had spent the night to the poison lab just down stairs in order to see if Tsunade needed anything. Walking to the room, he noticed a very tired looking blonde hair woman sleeping in a chair in the corner of the room, making Minato wish he had some sort of camera with him to photograph the rare sight of a sleeping Tsunade. However he recoiled at the thought of her ever finding out he had a picture of her sleeping. Walking over to said blonde, he gently shook her shoulder to wake her.

"Tsunade?" Minato called.

"Mmmm," was the only reply that he got.

Minato chuckled a little and called her name once again, and this time she woke, "do you need anything?"

"No," Tsunade shook her head as she sat up straight, "I've finished preparing everything last night."

"I see," Minato nodded, "When will you be ready to operate?"

"An hour or so," Tsunade guessed.

"Glad to hear it."

"Minato," Tsunade called.

"Yes?"

"I want you to remember that I make no guarantees," Tsunade explained, "I am rather certain this will work however, no one can ever be a hundred percent certain when doing an operation like this."

"I understand the risks, Tsunade," Minato nodded, "doing nothing will kill my son either way so I will take the risk."

"I am glad you understand," Tsunade nodded, "now get out so I can make the final preparations."

"Alright," Minato chuckled then made his way to the door, "I expect to see you in a hour, Tsunade."

Tsunade waved her hand at him and Minato took his leave.

oOo

Walking into Naruto's room, he found Kakashi already leaning on the windowsill watching over the boy.

"Did you get any sleep last night, Kakashi?" Minato asked.

"Yes, sensei," Kakashi replied, "Knowing Tsunade is here and is going to save him makes it a little easier to sleep."

"I agree," Minato nodded, "but I won't rest easy until I see my son wake up."

Kakashi nodded in reply and they both sat in silence watching the young boy sleep. Jiriaya at some point had walked in and was leaning up against the wall adjacent to the bed, while Minato sat in the chair next the bed.

A little while later, Tsunade walked in carrying a large bowl of clear liquid that had a greenish tint to it. Shizune followed behind her carrying four jars of various liquids. Minato looked at the large bowl with very curious eyes, but at this point he is willing to try just about anything to get his son back. Jiraiya followed behind them and closed the door. Tsunade placed the bowl on the small table beside the bed while the other women placed the jars on another table close by.

"Alright," Tsunade stated putting her hands on her hips confidently, "time to begin."

"What are you planning on doing Tsunade?" Jiraiya asked.

"Using a chakra scalpel, an incision is made near the affected part," Tsunade explained pointing to Naruto's chest where he had been hit by the needles, "Using my chakra, I'll push a large volume of a medicinal fluid through the incision. The fluid then draws the poison out of the affected part and serves as a medium through which the poison is suspended and then forced out of the person's body."

"So, you'll basically be taking the poison out of his body?" Minato asked.

"Yes, and no," Tsunade shrugged, "I'll be taking the bulk of it out, then use the poison I take out to make an antidote to nullify the rest left in his body."

"I see," Minato nodded.

"Alright, lets get started," Tsunade looked at the three men standing around her, "you will need to hold him down. This will be extremely painful, maybe enough to wake him from his coma. Hold him as still as possible so I wont make a mistake. Understood?"

"Yes," all three men replied, and then moved to their respective place. Kakashi held Naruto's left side, Minato was on the right, while Jiraiya held down Naruto's lower body. Tsunade nodded to them, then placed her hand on the bowl of green tinted liquid and used her chakra to pick it up.

Naruto had been previously stripped of his clothing on his upper body to prepare to the surgery. Tsunade placed the large glob of liquid over Naruto's chest and used her chakra to push the liquid into the boy's chest. Naruto's body convulsed when the liquid entered his body, causing Tsunade to yell at the men to hold him down tighter. Tsunade pulled the liquid out of the boy's chest on the other side, but it had a purple liquid inside. She finally let go of it, letting the liquid splash in the large bowl she got it out of.

"Shizune!" Tsunade called.

"Hai!" Shizune replied, replacing the large bowl that had the purple poison with another one. Tsunade repeated the process a total of ten times, removing the poison little by little from each of Naruto's organs.

Letting the last of the green liquid splash in the bowl, Tsunade sighed, "That was the last one."

"That's it?" Minato asked carefully letting go of his son.

"Yes, that's it," Tsunade nodded turning back to the boy, "he should be waking up soon."

Minato smiled down at his son, "Thank you, Tsunade."

"Ah," Tsunade nodded, "He's not out of the clear just yet. I will make an antidote for the remaining poison left in his system. When he wakes up, try to keep him as quiet as possible. He won't have much strength and it will be a few weeks before he is back to normal."

Minato nodded and Tsunade dismissed herself, followed by Shizune. The elder blonde sat down on the steel chair next to the bed. He grabbed on of his sons hands and held on tight, almost as if the young blonde would disappear if he didn't. Kakashi took his place on the window seal, while Jiraiya leaned up against the wall by the door. All three were waiting for the young blonde to wake up.

After what seemed like an eternity for them, the eyes of the young blonde fluttered open.

"Naruto," Minato whispered.

"Tou-san?" Naruto replied looking over at his father sleepily.
