Chapter 17
Elizabeth struggled as she was hustled inside of the Captain's corridor by Gillette and two marines alongside her sister.
"Sorry, but it's for your own safety!" Gillette said as he went to go towards the door.
Rose slowly sat down on the bed biting her lower lip. She knew that James was trying to protect them, but she was rather concerned that James was walking to his own death if Jack didn't tell him that the pirates were cursed.
"I don't care what the Commodore ordered! I have to tell him – the pirates - they're cursed! They can't be killed!" Elizabeth said as she looked at Gillette with wide eyes.
"Don't worry miss, he's already informed of that. A little mermaid flopped up on deck and told him the whole story." Snickering with the marines, he shut the door leaving the two women alone in the room.
Elizabeth turned away angry. "This is Jack Sparrow's doing." She said as she began to pace back and forth in irritation. She coudln't believe that Jack was doing this to keep her and Rose out of the way only to just get his stupid Black Pearl back.
"Does that surprise you that it's his doing, Elizabeth?" Rose questioned as her head slowly raised to look at her little sister. Her hands pushed back her blonde locks as she looked at her sister locking her blue eyes with her sister's hazel ones.
Elizabeth paced around back and forth in anger, frustration was rolling off of her in waves.
Rose looked up at Elizabeth watching her pace back and forth in anger. "Pacing around on the floor isn't going to help you any, Elizabeth…"
Elizabeth looked up at Rose as an idea came to her.
Rose looked up hearing the door being knocked on lightly.
"Rose." Her father's voice rang out from the other side of the door.
Rose swallowed the lump in her throat. "Go." She whispered softly to her sister. "Do what you're going to do. Don't make too much noise."
Elizabeth nodded her head moving quickly towards the window tying up some bedding to get out the window.
Their father let out a soft sigh. "I just want you to know .. I believe you made a very good decision today ...Couldn't be more proud of you. But, you know, even a good decision,
if made for the wrong reasons … could be a wrong decision."
Rose slowly went to the door and put her hand lightly on it. "It isn't a wrong decision father… Elizabeth knew that I loved him when he proposed to her… she wanted to make things right." She said softly, admitting the truth.
"You are wholeheartedly in this choice?" He asked softly.
Rose took a soft nervous breath. "Yes. I am." She said softly.
The door slowly opened and his eyes went wide seeing several knotted bed sheets hanging from the captain's cabin window. He moved to the opened window and glanced out, glanced up and then looked out at the black sea. "Oh ...What have you done?" He questioned his head going out the window in worry.
Rose slowly came over to her father. She put her hand on his shoulder. "Father… she loves him." She said softly looking at her father. "You and mother always did tell us to go after what our hearts told us to."
Governor Swann took a breath and looked at his eldest daughter. "You sound so much like your mother when she married me." He said taking her hand into his hand.
Rose looked down shyly, biting her lower lip softly. She knew that she looked more like her mother and that was probably why he was protective of both her and Elizabeth due to the loss of their mother. Her heart ached for her father knowing that he missed their mother every day and was missing her more and more as time went on.
Her father turned on his heels. "Rest we'll be home soon." He told her softly knowing that the rocking of the ship wasn't doing her any good.
Rose nodded her head softly.
He walked towards the door and opened the door despondent. A body plummets to the deck in front of him.
Rose's eyes went wide as she got up to her feet after having sat down only seconds before. "Father?"
Her father shut the door gently, trying to go unnoticed. He looked back at his daughter. "Sit, darling."
Rose slowly sat back down on the bed biting her lower lip. She couldn't help but wonder what was going on that caused her father to shut the door so quietly.
Her father peered out the glass window at the mayhem that was going on the deck. He dropped down below the window and peaked up again as the face of a dead marine slammed into the glass right next to him.
Rose jumped nervously, her eyes wide as she got up to her feet quickly.
Her father looked up and saw a pirate looking at him. He cowered and began to back away from the window below the window.
A pirate hand reached through the windows grabbing at him. One of the pirate hands grabbed onto his wig and pulled it off his head.
He refused to let it go and had a tug of war with the pirate over the wig. He grabbed a bullhorn off the table behind him and whacked at the skeleton arm which fell to the floor.
Rose's eyes went wide. "Father?"
He looked over at her. "I'm fine." He said giving her a look to alert her that he was fine. He wouldn't betray himself on how he really felt. He suddenly scrambled dawy from the arm as it began to crawl after him. He stood up watching the arm in horror and then grabbed a map off the table and began to beat the skeleton arm. He then picked it up and struggled with it, then shoved it into a bureau drawer. He backed up against the chest as it rattled. He knew the arm was trying to escape.
Rose quickly moved to her father and he quickly wrapped his arm around her, rubbing her back soothingly hoping that it would calm her fast breathing.
Governor Swann continued to rub her back as the clanging of the sword continued outside. "Do not go out there."
"Father I…" She took a breath reaching to the sword that was hanging on the wall. "I can't promise you that. I know you probably won't be able to handle it, but good people are dying." She said before opening the door out into the fray of the fighting that was on the ship.
"Rose don't!"
Rose closed the door to the room keeping her father safe. She knew that he wasn't much of a fighter being in politics all his life. Her blade clashed with one of the pirate's blades that went to attack her. Her eyes narrowed as she sharply parried with the man to try and keep him away from the room where her father was. She could only hope whatever was planned would be done soon, she had a feeling that this wasn't going to end well for anyone if the pirate's curse wasn't broken.
James's eyes locked onto Rose's fighting form battling back against a pirate. He didn't know that Rose had learned to fight and was willing to fight against pirates to keep others safe including her own father.
Suddenly the fighting stopped when some of the pirates realized that something wasn't right.
"Gentlemen, the ship is ours." James said out loudly.
The Marines cheered happily that they were able to take the ship back over.
Governor Swann slowly came out of the cabin joining in on the cheers, congratulating the marines.
Rose looked at Norrington with an adoring gaze.
James looked over at her and slowly broke out into a smile when he saw Rose's gaze on him. He moved towards her, touching her arm lightly. He looked her over for any sort of injuries, other than the small bit of blood splatter she was fine.
Rose looked up at him. "I'm not hurt." She said softly, moving closer to him. Her cheeks flushing some knowing that he had seen her in battle. One thing that she didn't want him to see.
James gave her a soft adoring look. He was glad that she hadn't been hurt in this long battle that they had. He had to admit that it was nice to be back with her and seeing her beautiful face. He couldn't admit it out loud either that he was proud of her for joining in on the fight.

This is the end of Chapter 17. I hope that you guys enjoyed it. I changed it up some from the last story. I decided to have her fight this time. Hopefully it turned out better. The bad thing is I'm terrible when it comes to writing fighting scenes. So I tried my best with it. I promise you that Rose is growing more, but she knows what the right choice is to do. Please leave a review and let me know what you think. Until next time.
