Pokemon Ash's and May's Hoenn Journey Chap 39 Another Rival

May-Torhic, Ralts, Azuril, Slicon, and Mudkip

Brock- Fortress, Lotad, and Mudkip

We join the gang from them catching Mudkips to now taking a break and letting their Pokémon eat, May looks at her Pokémon as they look so cute while eating. She turns her attention towards her newly caught baby Mudkip. "Are you enjoying your food, Mudkip?" She asked the baby Pokémon.

"Kip (yes)," Mudkip replied.

May giggled while Ash warmly smiled at the cute scene of his girlfriend May bonding with her Pokémon. It was clear to Ash that May was quickly bonding with her Pokemon, and they were also quickly bonding with her. The moment was interrupted by Azuril playingfully using a water gun on its trainer's face, but when May usually would become angered or annoyed, she knew that Azuril was only playing with her, and she only giggled. "Okay, Azurill" She said while giggling.

Azurill only smiled and began jumping on its tail happily, while Torchic then began running around playfully and happily, Ralts jumped into her trainer's arms and cuddled into her, Slicon just stood there, and Mudkip was nuzzling against May's legs. May smiled warmly at her Pokémon's cute antics, but the adorable moment was interrupted by a voice. "How pathetic," The voice said.

May looked at a saw a boy with black hair and said, "What do you say?" May asked the boy.

The boy scoffed. "You heard me, this is pathetic; you only use Pokémon for battle and nothing else," The boy said.

May could feel her blood boiling. "No, you don't, you also bond with Pokémon," May said with anger rising in her voice.

The boy let out another chuckle. "God, you're so pathetic, just like your Pokémon, weak and pathetic." The boy sneered.

May's hand balled out in anger and her teeth clenched. Suddenly Azurill jumped in front of her, looking like it wanted a battle to defend it's tranier honor "Azruil, do you want to battle?" May asked her Pokémon.

Azruil turned his head back towards its trainer and nodded its head yes with eyes full of determination, The boy let out another chuckle. "This should be easy, go Zangoose," The boy said calling out his Pokemon.

Ash scanned the Pokemon with his Pokedex: Zangoose, the Cat Ferret Pokémon. Zangoose usually walks around on all fours, but stands on its hind legs when angry. It's very quick and can easily dodge most enemy attacks.

"Alright, Zangoose, start off by using Slash." The boy commanded his Pokemon.

Zangoose quickly used Hit Slash on the Azuril, sending it back, and already dealing massive damage. "Azuril," May said in concern.

The boy only let out a chuckle. "That was too easy," He said, already thinking he had the victory.

But to the boy's surprise, Azuril got back up, hurt but still determined: "Azuril use water gun." Azuril

Water came out of Azrull's mouth and hit Zangooese, but the Zangoose didn't flinch at all, causing the boy to chuckle again. "Are you freaking serious?" The boy asked in a mocking tone.

Zangoose used Crush Claw and sent the Azurill flying backwards again, but once again getting up, much to the boy's surprise, Azruill was determined to defend its trainer's honor. This would happen throughout the battle; Zangoose would use a heavy attack, but Azurill would just right back up, but May could feel tears welling up in her eyes, concerned for Azruil, as it would get hurt more and more with each attack, but it kept getting up, and finally May gave it "Stop, I surrender," May cried out, tears cascading down her face.

She scoped Azuril from the ground, with tears in her eyes. "You fought bravely, Azruil." She thanked the Pokemon for their effort.

"Azuril" It replied weakly.

"You're so pathetic and weak, you don't deserve to be a trainer." The boy said coldy.

These words hurt May, and she ran away crying, Ash turned towards the boy, anger slowly rising. "That was uncalled for," Ash said in a cold voice, with anger rising.

The boy scoffed. "I was just telling the truth, she doesn't deserve to be a trainer," he said.

Ash could feel his anger rising even more. "She's a new trainer, and she deserves to be a trainer, because she cares for her Pokemon," Ash yelled at him.

The boy scoffed again. "You're are foolish; it's not about friendship or being cared for; it's about the strength and power of Pokémon." The boy said.

"No, it's not, let's have a battle to prove it" Ash said.

"I don't have anymore time to deal with weak trainers," The boy said and left.

Ash watched his retreating figure, and Ash's focus was now on his girlfriend, He grabbed her Pokeballs and ran in search of her. He found her in a clearing, and he could hear her sobs. He tried to approach her, asking, "May, are you alright?" He asked, concern in his voice, putting his hand on her back.

May slapped his hand. "Leave me alone, Ash; he was right. I don't deserve to be a trainer. Maybe I should give up," May said while she cried.

Ash's eyes widened at hearing May's shocking words. "May don't say that," Ash said.

"Well's it true, my Pokemon don't deserve a weak trainer like me" May lashed out at her boyfriend.

Ash's eyes softened. "May, you're not weak; you just have to learn, and I know how much you care for your Pokemon and how much your Pokemon care for you," Ash said to her.

All of sudden, all of May's Pokemon came out at their pokeballs: Torchich jumped into May's arms and nuzzled into her arms lovingly, comforting its trainer, Mudkip and Ralts nuzzled against May's legs lovingly, showing how much care and love they have for their trainer; even Slicon nuzzled up against her, and they began to shout words of encouragement and love for their trainer in their own language.

May softly smiled and cried, this time with tears of joy, finally realizing how much love her Pokémon had for her. "See, May your Pokémon love you," Ash said.

May sweetly smiled. "Yeah, I finally see it now, I love you guys so much, and you're their the best Pokémon a girl could ask for," May told the Pokemon sincerly.

All of her Pokémon chirped back, showing their love for her. Suddenly, a white light enveloped in May's arms. where Azruill was lying, and a few moments later it came back into his evolved form, Marill "Wow, Azurill, you've evolved and are still so cute," May cooed at her Pokemon.

"Maril" It replied.

May scanned her new Pokemon with her Pokedex. When fishing for food at the edge of a fast-running stream, Marill wraps its tail around the trunk of a tree. This Pokémon's tail is flexible and configured to stretch."

Maril then playfully shot a water gun into her trainer's face, making May giggle and smile, while Ash also chuckled and smiled at the cute sight, and then Maril jumped into May's arms and gave her a hug. "I love you, Maril," May said while hugging the Pokémon.

"Maril (I love you to May.)" The Marill replied.

Ash smiled, knowing May had gotten over what the boy had said to her. "Ready to go back?" Ash asked her.

"Yep," She said.

Ash helped May up, and May gave him a loving peck on the cheek. "Thanks, Ashy," She said, thanking him for comforting her.

Ash blushed "No problem; I'll always be here for you," Ash said.

With that, May, with Marill in her arms, and Ash holding hands, returned back to a concerned Max and Brock. May told them she was okay now, and even though they bickered quite often, May and Max still cared a lot for each other. Max had told them the boy was he was a pretty strong trainer, Blake, and his ace Pokemon was Zangoose. Max had seen the boy battle on TV before, and he knew he was quite strong. Ash hoped to meet Blake somewhere down the road, so he could show him up for messing his girlfriend and he was make him pay the price for hurting his girlfriend.
