His Perspective – Mr. C
He wanted the date to be perfect. He had thought carefully about the restaurant, considering all in the city. This place had a welcoming vibe and the food had been raved about. Looking around, the man could not stop hoping that Bella was impressed. It was an unsettling sensation, how much he wanted to impress her.
"Bella," he spoke. "Your name is as beautiful as you are," he smiled, watching. He noticed how her dark hair was tousled around her shoulders and he enjoyed her dress even though he thought she would have been beautiful in a jeans and t-shirt.
"You came here with your father," she asked. The man felt it was odd to be discussing his father with her. It was a difficult relationship and he was not sure how to describe it but he wanted to share things with Bella, even if it might be the uglier moments in his past.
But when he stayed silent, worried he could stay something that might end this. He did not want that. He had been dreaming of a future with her. He believed this would be the first of many dates.
"He was sick later in life," the man shared, almost feeling like this might help him. "I helped him get to his appointments and it mended our relationship before he passed," the man kept back what had caused the fractures between himself and his father.
"You seem to miss him," Bella responded.
"I do," the man answered.
As the check came, the man grabbed it, smiling at Bella who smiled back, thanking him. A beginning of something felt so close, too close and as the waitress smiled too warmly at him again, he made sure to ignore her.
He wanted Bella to know he only had eyes for her and he knew what faithfulness meant.
