(A/N) This chapter has a MAJOR diverting point from canon. I will explain why at the end of the chapter. Also, Leo Whitfang semblance is called beast roar. After taking a deep breath, Leo can release a devastating roar that has some destructive effects. Unfortunatly, he is vulnerable during and after the roar blast.
Chapter 43 Show of strength
(Amity Colosseum Arena)
After being forced to split up, team RWBY were forced into fighting individual opponents. Even though it is unfortunate that team RWBY won't be able to utilize their greatest strength in terms of their teamwork capabilities. However, each member of the team has proven themselves to be very capable in terms of individual strengths. Proof of this is that each member of team RWBY has performed incredible feats individually that ensured their place in Beacon. However, they are fighting against fellow students who has the same drive and ambitions as them and since it is the tournament. All of them are in it to win it.
Blake spent a few seconds avoiding Answer's projectiles which are cards. From her past fighting experience, Blake suspects that there is more to the cards other than the fact that they are sharp. So bearing the strength of her experience, she knows not to risk any surprises that those cards has. Hence every time those cards got close to her, she would shoot them with skill and precision.
While Blake was shooting the cards, she continued to maneuver around the area to prevent herself from being in a position to be trapped in the match. As she was moving, she kept her eye out for anything that she can use to tip the odds in her favor. Unfortunately, Answer's relentless attacks and quick speed didn't give Blake the chance to do anything.
"It appears Blake is using her natural speed and skills to stay on the defensive and find a prime opportunity to give a counterattack. Unfortunately, Answer's relentless assault leaves Blake little to no room for opportunity." Dr. Oobleck announced to the audience as the fight was going on
Weiss spent some time maintaining the offensive against Bridget by using the dust within her sword and keeping him at a distance. Even though Weiss was unable to land any major hits against Bridget. She was able to keep him at a distance which is already significant enough. After being at a distance for a few minutes, Bridget decided to activate the dust in his yo-yos and after doing so he proceeded to attack the ground. When Bridget attacked the ground, he created a trail of electricity that went for Weiss. Seeing the thunder trail, Weiss proceeded to avoid the thunder trail. The heiress was able to avoid the electric attack, but in doing so she ended up in the air.
Once Weiss was in the air, Bridget changed the thunder dust in his yo-yos to fire dust and proceeded to use them against Weiss. Reacting quickly, Weiss summoned a glyph to protect herself from the fire blast. While the shield was activated, Weis was able to use it as a makeshift platform and jump off of it and get back to the ground. Once Weiss made it to the ground, she summoned several glyphs behind her and proceeded to blast several ice shards at Bridget. Thinking quickly, Bridget spun around his yo-yos while the fire dust is still activated. When the yo-yos were spun around, he created a makeshift fire shield that melted the ice shards. After the ice shards melted, Bridget proceeded to charge at Weiss, while created several fire trails to attack her.
Weiss was able to dodge the fire trail attacks and was able to block a yo-yo attack from Bridget. After the yo-yo attack was blocked, Bridget used his other yo-yo to attack Weiss. Fortunately, Weiss's natural skills gave her the chance to avoid the attacks. After spending a few seconds dodging, she tried to attack Bridget with her sword. Unfortunately, Bridget used his quick thinking to wrap Weiss's sword with his yo-yo string and after a brief second was able to disarm Weiss.
Once Weiss was disarmed, Bridget was able to furiously attack Weiss with his yo-yos. After being hit for a few seconds, Weiss was knocked back a small distance and space was made between the two. Before Bridget could do a follow-up attack, Weiss summoned a glyph behind herself. Before Bridget could do anything, Weiss used the summoned glyph and boosted herself past Bridget to get to her sword.
Yang and Jam spent a few minutes fighting in close quarters but neither of them appears to be backing down. Jam continuously used her kicks to block and parry Yang's various punches. Though as a result, Jam never had the chance to do a proper counterattack and was on the defensive as a result. Yang on the other hand has been on the offensive against Jam. Unfortunately, Yang was unable to deal any major blows against her opponent due to Jam's speed and reflexes. After the two spent a few seconds of fighting against each other, the both of them were able to land a quick hit against each other. After landing their respective hits, the both of them were pushed back a small distance and gave each other a quick glance. After getting knocked back, Jam smirked and took a deep breath. Once Jam's quick breath was taken, a small pulse of energy was made from Jam and after the pulse was made. Jam proceeded to attack Yang, but this time at an increased speed.
Yang was having some trouble handling Jam's kicks due to the relentless speed. But as Yang was blocking and dodging the attacks, Yang felt a rising heat coming from Jam and she didn't know why. Not wanting to take any chances, Yang quickly thought of a plan and decided to hold her ground. When Jam made another kick against Yang, she endured the hit and managed to stand her ground. While she had the chance, Yang proceeded to deliver a strong punch to Jam. What happened next surprised Yang, because Jam was able to endure the hit as well and looked undamaged also.
"That all you got?" Jam asked with a smirk before she hit Yang with a roundhouse kick.
After Jam hit Yang with a roundhouse kick. She proceeded to give Yang a flurry of strong rapid kicks. At the end of the flurry of kicks, Jam delivered a strong kick to Yang that was engulfed in flames and was able to launch Yang back a far distance. Yang was able to quickly recover but realized that something made Jam stronger and decided to keep her at a moderate distance by blasting her with her gauntlets. Unfortunately, Jam was able to easily dodge the shots and proceeded to pursue Yang. As Jam was running, her started to conjure flames and she was able to run faster as a result. Once Jam got close, she tried to kick Yang. This time though, Yang parried the kick with her punches and was able to deliver a punch to Jam. Though like before, the punch didn't do any significant damage. Before Yang think of a plan, she found herself back to back with Weiss.
"Weiss, my punches aren't really doing anything to her. I don't know the full story but I think it has something to do with the heat." Yang told Weiss
"I'm having trouble too, Bridget is creative with his yo-yos and I can't predict his moves. How about we switch, it should make things a lot easier for us?" Weiss suggested to Yang
"You got it Weiss." Yang said before they quickly switched places and fought their new opponents, Yang fights against Bridget while Weiss fights against Jam.
Ruby and Chipp spent a few minutes clashing blades against each other. Ruby's semblance allowed her to maneuver around the arena with relative ease and fire at her opponent when she stops for a moment. However, it is hard for the young student to be able to hit Chipp when he either deflects or dodge the shots fired by Ruby. After dodging a few more shots, Chipp proceeded to dash towards Ruby at an incredible speed with his semblance causing Ruby to do the same with her semblance. It didn't take long for the both of them collide with each other when they did, their weapons clashed with each other and they were knocked back.
"It appears that both Chipp's and Ruby's speed-based semblance are evenly matched. Though they have different traits and slightly different functions. The power that they both have is not to be taken lightly." Dr. Oobleck announced to the cheering audience
The clash of speed and strength between Ruby and Chipp has been going on for a few minutes. After clashing blades once again, the both of them realized that it will take more than speed for one to gain dominance over the other. After the both of them were knocked back, Ruby used her semblance to get to higher ground. Once Ruby got to the high ground of a leaning steel frame, she proceeded to fire at Chipp while maintaining the high ground. Chipp was able to quickly dodge each shot and proceeded to run on the frame to fight Ruby at close quarters.
Once the two go close, the both of them fought against each other with their skills and weapons. Though Chipp is making good use of his arm blade and is relentless in his assault. Ruby is able to keep him away due to the length of her scythe. As the two were fighting each other, Ruby quickly thought of an idea and increased her attack speed while attacking more wildly. Chipp was able to block the attacks but noticed himself losing his footing when the steel frame he was standing on was cut. Chipp went to the next part of the steel frame but quickly noticed that it was falling as well and realized Ruby's plan. Before he could get to more stable ground, Ruby quickly fired at him and Chipp was unable to get to more stable ground and fell as a result. When Chipp fell, he landed on the roof of the nearby building and tried to recover. Unfortunately for him, Ruby dived towards him and delivered a strong attack and was able to knock Chipp through the pillar of one of the city structures.
Chipp was able to quickly recover, but he saw Ruby running towards him while she's using her semblance. Chipp responded the same way and went for Ruby using her semblance. This time though, when Ruby got close, she jumped over Chipp and blasted him with a sniper shot with ice dust. The shot hit Chipp and his leg was frozen. Before Chipp could do anything further, Ruby attacked him relentlessly with her scythe and knocked him away. After getting knocked away, Chipp heard an alarm and saw that his aura meter went to zero.
"It appears that Chipp is eliminated, due to Ruby's youthful and energetic combination of skill, resourcefulness and touches of luck." Professor Port announced to the cheering audience. After knocking out Chipp, Ruby looked at the large screen and saw her aura is at 55%. After knowing this, she proceeded to go and help Blake against her opponent Answer.
For the duration of the match, both Blake and Answer are evenly matched. When Answer makes aggressive attacks, Blake would respond with a defensive move of her own. The both of them would gradually deplete the other's aura but unless something significant happens, this will be a battle of attrition. After a few more minutes of fighting each other, Answer and Blake stood on opposite ends against each other waiting for the other to make a move. Before either of them could do anything, Answer quickly ran to the side out of instinct and was able to avoid a gunshot from Ruby. As he was running, Blake proceeded to fire at him as well forcing Answer to hide, making it a two vs one fight. After Answer hid, Blake and Ruby caught up to each other and stood back to back against each other.
"Anything you can tell me about him Blake?" Ruby asked while back to back with Blake
"He's as fast as I am and attacks with cards. I don't know what else he can do but we can't take him lightly." Blake told Ruby before they dodged to avoid the thrown cards.
After dodging the cards, Ruby and Blake went to the direction the cards were thrown which was the inside of a ruined city building in the arena. Once they arrived, they didn't see Answer but they were on guard for anything. After a few seconds have passed, Answer quickly ran passed them and threw his cards while he was at it. Blake was able to quickly deflect the cards and after doing so, she fired at Answer. Unfortunately, Answer was able to dodge Blake's shots and was able to get to cover.
While Answer is hiding behind cover, Ruby used Crescent Rose to launch herself towards Answer from above. When she landed, she proceeded to attack Answer with her scythe. Unfortunately, Answer proceeded to dodge the attacks and made some distance between himself and RWBY and proceeded to throw some cards. Reacting quickly, Ruby was able to deflect the cards with her scythe and after doing so tried to fire at Answer. Before a shot could be fired at Answer, Ruby noticed several cards attached to her gun. A quick second after noticing the cards. Each of them exploded causing Ruby to throw her weapon out of reflex. Before she could get to her weapon, Answer was able to quickly catch up to her and fight her in close quarters. Ruby tried to fight Answer unarmed, but her inferior hand to hand fighting skills allowed Answer to easily and quickly deal with her. After Answer was able to hit her with a string of combo attacks, he kicked her back a far distance and after doing so. He looked at the monitor and saw that he was able to deplete Ruby's Aura.
"With that impressive show of speed and cunning, Answer was able to best Ruby by disarming her and deplete her aura through a series of fast paced attacks." Dr. Oobleck announced
"Ouch, poor Ruby." Noel commented
"Not surprising when you think about it. Ruby has always been reliant on her weapon. I guess her lacking skills in hand to hand combat finally worked against her." Amane commented
After Ruby was eliminated, Answer looked around for Blake and saw that she proceeded to fire at him. Answer reacted by running to the side and threw his cards at her. Blake was able to dodge them all with ease and continued firing at Answer until she went behind cover inside one of the ruined buildings. Answer decided to pursue her by going inside and when in he saw her. After Answer saw her, Answer proceeded to give her a strong kick, only for Blake to disappear into a puff of smoke. Answer quickly realized that it was a clone he attacked and but wasn't fast enough to stop Blake's attack from above. Blake's attack was strong enough to knock Answer away from the building.
Blake decided to pursue Answer for a finishing follow up with her weapon in hand. However, Answer quickly removed his jacket and revealed a set of red cards that is designed like a vest. Blake noticed this too late and was unable to stop herself from attacking the custom vest. Once she did so there was a large explosion and both Blake and Answer were knocked back and unconscious.
"With a daring yet bold trap, both Answer and Blake have been eliminated. This now leads to a two versus two fight." Dr. Oobleck announced as the fight is going on between the remaining students
"That was a crazy move, is that even legal?" Jaune asked
"It is but its risky, people have all kinds of weapons and traps so its not out of the question for a student to have a trap like that. Besides, a kamikaze move is a bigger risk to the user than the opponent." Pyrrha briefly explained to Jaune
Bridget has been on the defensive while he was fighting Yang. The brawler would attack Bridget with blasts from her gauntlets and was able to keep the pressure up. Bridget was able to block the shots with his yo-yos. But because of the relentless attacks, Bridget was unable to counterattack. After a few more seconds of blocking Yang's attacks, Bridget found himself backed against a wall and realized that he trapped. Once Yang saw Bridget backed to a wall, she proceeded to run towards him with the intent to finish him off in one move.
When Bridget saw Yang coming, he stayed calm and waited for Yang to get closer. Once she did, Bridget quickly moved to the side and was able to wrap his yo-yo string around Yang's arm and tried to pull her in. Unfortunately for Bridget, Yang was able to hold her ground and proceeded to pull Bridget in instead. Once Bridget was close to Yang, she immediately delivered a strong punch and it was enough to send Bridget out of bounds of the arena.
Weiss on the other hand was fighting against Jam by countering her kicks with her sword attacks. Unfortunately for Weiss, the longer that the fight went on, the more heat Jam generated and made things a lot harder for the heiress. After a few more seconds of fighting, Jam jumped away from Weiss and her feet started to be engulfed in flames. After he feet were engulfed in flames, Jam proceeded to dash towards Weiss at an even greater speed.
Once Jam got close to Weiss, she tried to continuously attack Weiss with a series of flurry kicks that were engulfed in flames. Fortunately for Weiss, she was able to dodge the kicks but realized that she needed to do something soon. Before Jam could land her flaming kick attack, Weiss summoned a glyph to launch herself back and was able to buy herself some time. Jam decided to jump towards Weiss to attack her with a flying flaming kick attack. Acting quickly, Weiss used her weapon and semblance to create an ice wall. Jam was able to break through the ice wall, but she missed hitting Weiss. When Weiss was thinking of a plan, she noticed the flames on Jam's feet get weaker after kicking through the ice wall and quickly thought of a plan.
Weiss then proceeded to cover the floor in ice and expanded it throughout the area. Jam jumped over the ice wave but quickly found herself sliding on the icy floor. As she was sliding she found herself slowly cooling off and realized that Weiss figured out the weakness to her semblance. Jam tried to get away from the ice as fast as she can, but Weiss used her semblance to expand the ice further and make it even colder. After a few seconds, Jam started to get very cold and realized that she would need more time for her semblance to generate the heat that would heal her and make her stronger.
Jam tried to run away from Weiss and go into hiding so her semblance can build up her heat so she can be better suited to fight in the cold environment she created. Unfortunately for Jam, Weiss didn't give her the chance to go far and proceeded to catch up to Jam by sliding on the ice she created. When Jam noticed that Weiss was getting closer, she looked around and saw wall that she could use. When Weiss got close, Jam jumped on the wall and tried to jump kick Weiss. Reacting quickly, Weiss used the wind dust in her sword and created a tornado that blew Jam up into the air. When the tornado stopped, Jam ended up falling to the arena, before she could land, Weiss created a glyph beneath herself and waited for Jam. When Jam got close, Weiss used her time dilation to rapidly slash at Jam at an intense speed. After a quick second, Jam was launched back and her aura was depleted.
"With that incredible display of power and speed, the winner of this match is team RWBY. Team CABJ (Cabbage) ha fought valiantly and they should be proud." Professor Port announced to a cheering audience
"We won, now its off to the next round!" Yang said in a happy tone
"We did well, despite some of the close calls we had." Weiss said in a happy tone
"Still we all did well and we should learn from this." Blake said when she approached her teammates
"Which means we should be celebrating real soon." Ruby said with a lot of enthusiasm
"You all did great, congratulations on the win." Bridget said as he approached team RWBY.
"Thank you Bridget, but you guys did great as well, but your weapon is so cool. I've never seen yo-yos used as a weapon before." Ruby said in an impressed tone to Bridget
"I'm just as impressed, you have a semblance that's similar to mine. But yours is more versatile with the speed. While mine just lets me go one direction, and I have to be on a surface." Chipp said as he was arriving with Jam and Answer
"A reflection of your one track mind, if you had mastered your technique with your semblance, you would have lasted a little longer." Answer told Chipp
"It wasn't ready, besides I lost fair and square. We should have a rematch in the future Ruby." Chipp said as he reached out his hands
"Hehehehe anytime Chipp, and when I kick your but again your going to give me a lot of chocolate Chipp cookies." Ruby said trying to make a pun at Chipp's name after giving Chipp a high five
"Hahahaha that's actually pretty funny." Chipp said as everyone was walking off the stage
"No it wasn't." Weiss whispered to Blake
"I know but it was better than most of Yang's puns." Blake responded
"Hey, I heard that!" Yang said overhearing the comment
(The Vale Bar)
"A good match and mutual respect, I like what I'm seeing." The Bartender said after watching the match
"Yeah, they got mutual respect for each other, but both teams made a lot of messy mistakes that would cost them their lives on the field." Qrow said to the Bartender while drinking
"You're a bit hard to please aren't you?" The Bartender asked Qrow
"I've got the experience to back up my claim." Qrow said while he was drinking
(Atlesian Airship)
Winter has been on a good number of missions after recovering from her encounter with Hakumen. On one hand, the Specialist is very happy to have not only met the living legend and is glad to see that he has a noble spirit. Though on the other hand, she regrets having to fight the legend himself, even though she was doing her job, something Hakumen understands. One of her duties requires that she oversees a delivery to Vale. As she was on the airship, she decided to pass the time by watching the various matches of the Vytal Tournament. Though there were a few students that stood out to her, she paid close attention to her sister Weiss.
"So many attacks missed and was so easily and quickly disarmed. She has a lot to learn if she wants to get my level." Winter commented to herself
"We'll be arriving in Vale within the hour ma'am." One of the pilots told Winter
"Good, I want to get this over with as soon as possible." Winter said as she was watching the tournament. As she was watching, she remembered one of the earlier matches that involved team RJNN.
"You came a long way Jin, or should I call you the Hero of Vale." Winter commented further before she paid closer attention to the matches
(Fairgrounds)
"Aww yeah, we totally kicked butt, looked cool, and made some new friends. To make this perfect, we just need to eat because of the appetite we worked up." Ruby said with a lot of enthusiasm
"If only we could get something to eat around here. Oh wait we're around a lot of Vendors." Weiss commented with sarcasm
"Don't worry Weiss, I forget that we're around the Vendors too." Ruby told Weiss
"Ruby, I was being sarcastic." Weiss said causing Ruby to be flabbergasted
"Come on Weiss, you know I can't tell when your being serious or sarcastic." Ruby responded to Weiss
"Since you guys are going to be eating, can we join you?" Makoto asked while she was walking with Noel
"Sure, the more the merrier and it would be nice for fellow winners to eat together." Yang said to Makoto
"Speaking of winners, where are Ragna and Jin?" Ruby asked
"Ragna said that he wants to be with Sister Celica and Saya. While Jin is off being Jin." Makoto asked
"Aww, that's so sweet, Ragna acts all tough on the outside. But he's a big ol softie when it comes to Sister Celica and his Sister" Ruby said in a teasing tone
"I always did figure Ragna was the protective big brother type. Despite some um . . . mistakes that he may have made in the past." Yang said about Ragna
"Good job on your team match you two." Blake said to Noel and Makoto
"Thank you, though if it wasn't for Makoto, I would have been eliminated." Noel said to Blake
"C'mon, I know a good place for us to eat." Yang said before she led the small group
"It'll be hard to eat without this." Emerald said getting Ruby's attention and showing her wallet
"Oh no, oh no, oh no, I can't believe I dropped it. Thanks Emerald, you just saved me a lot of trouble. Girl pockets are the worst huh?" Ruby said as she grabbed her wallet
"Hehehe, it's no problem and its good to see you again Ruby." Emerald said after the wallet was returned
"Did you guys have your matches yet?" Noel asked Emerald
"Nah, but we're waiting patiently, and we have no plans to hold back." Emerald said in a confident tone
"As long as we don't have to fight powerful students." Blake commented
"You know I'm curious, between both of your teams who have you guys selected to go to the doubles round?" Emerald asked
"After our match, we had a careful discussion and as leader I wisely decided . . ." Ruby said before Weiss interrupted
"We put it to a vote." Weiss bluntly said
"But I realized that since this is a team decision, we put it to a vote." Ruby quickly said
"We voted for Weiss and Yang, since they had the least amount of trouble in our match." Blake told Emerald
"It would be an honor to represent team RWBY." Weiss said gracefully
"Yeah, I'm excited to kick some butts." Yang said with excitement
"Ragna said that Makoto and him are going to the doubles rounds." Noel told Emerald
"Yeah, Ragna insisted on it. I asked him who would go to the finals if we win the doubles round. He said that he would go on as well, he must really want to fight that Sol guy." Makoto explained further
"Wow, Ragna really is enthusiastic about this tournament. But you know what, I'm actually a bit relieved since nobody from my team will be fighting the Hero of Vale." Emerald told Makoto
"How about you and your team join us Emerald?" Ruby asked in a kind tone
"Yeah, the more the merrier." Noel added
"Oh my gosh, that's really nice of you guys, but me and my team could be called at any moment and we want to be ready when they do call us. Besides, my teammates are a bit socially awkward." Emerald said after all of them saw Mercury sniffing some boots
"Yeah, I see your points, well maybe next time. See you later Emerald and remember, if we fight each other in the tournament, don't hold back." Yang said with confidence in her tone
"Don't worry, just don't hold back against us." Emerald said before she parted ways with the others. After a few seconds, Emerald was able to catch up with Mercury
"So how do you like them Emerald?" Mercury asked Emerald
"I hate them, I hate their happy and optimistic spirits." Emerald answered
"We have our orders, or would you prefer it if Hazama did things on his own again." Mercury told Emerald
"But they act like nothing could bother them. It's honestly getting on my nerves so much. You'd think they would get a reality check after that beatdown they got from Azrael. But they just stay happy all the time." Emerald told Mercury
"Did you at least get the information we needed?" Mercury asked
"For team RWBY, it's the Heiress and the Bimbo. For team RJNN, it's the Squirrel and the Future Criminal." Emerald told Mercury
"I see, did you learn anything else?" Mercury asked in a curious tone
"I also learned that if Ragna and Makoto wins, Ragna will go to the singles round." Emerald answered
"That's good, which means we won't have to hold back as much for our fight." Mercury told Emerald causing the both of them to smirk.
(The Audience Seats of the Arena)
"I can't believe it, just when were finishing our food, Jaune's team were announced for the next match." Ruby after arriving at the audience seats
"I still can't believe that I couldn't pay for our meal." Weiss said in an embarrassed tone
"Stuff like that happens sometimes so don't worry about it. Noel already took care of it for us, which we are all grateful for. Now let's cheer on our friends. GO TEAM JNPR!" Yang said before she cheered her friends on
"Alright, we trained hard for this. We're confident, strong, and not nervous. . . . a little." Jaune said in a nervous tone
"Calm down Jaune, we all came a long way since we started Beacon and we're ready. Besides no matter what happened, we just have to do our best and we will have no regrets." Pyrrha said to Jaune calming him down
"Now for the team that has one of my personal favorite students and representing Beacon, team JNPR." Professor Port announced to a cheering audience as the other team randomizer appeared
"I wonder, who we're up against?" Ren asked his team in a curious tone
"It doesn't matter, because no matter who it is. They won't stand a chance against us." Nora said in a confident tone before the randomizer finished. When everyone saw who team JNPR was up against, the audience cheered, but when Ragna saw, he was nervous.
"This isn't good." Ragna thought nervously
"It appears that team JNPR's opponents are students that are hailing from Haven Academy, team CMSN." Dr. Oobleck announced as team CMSN walked to the stage
"Talk About crazy luck, we had just spoken to Emerald and now their up against Jaune's team." Yang commented
"You know, I barely see that Nu girl around Campus and I'm curious about her fighting skills." Weiss said to the girls
"Well whatever she can do, I'm sure Jaune and his team can handle it." Noel said in a confident tone
"Don't hold back you guys." Mercury said in a confident tone
"Well good luck, you guys are going to need it." Nor said with confidence
"You guys need it more than you think." Emerald said matching Nora's confidence
"Are you ready Nu?" Cinder asked
"Ragna is watching, I know that he is. I must make a good impression, hehehehe." Nu muttered to Cinder
"Then you must give it your all Nu. But remember, you can't use too much of your power. But I doubt it'll be necessary, so for now stick to your skills and semblance." Cinder told Nu, after a few seconds, the arena changed to a rocky terrain with various thundercloud
"Now let's BEGIN!" Professor Port announced signaling the start of the match
Once the match started, Nu calmly and silently stepped forward. Team JNPR didn't know what she was doing or planning but didn't want to give her the chance. Ren and Pyrrha proceeded to fire at Nu to stop her from what she's about to do. Reacting quickly, Nu proceeded to quickly dodged the gun shots at a blinding speed and quickly made her way to team JNPR. When Nu got to team JNPR, Jaune and Nora tried to attack her while she was close. Unfortunately, Nu was able to quickly dodge both Jaune's sword and Nora's hammer attacks. After Nu dodged the attacks, she proceeded to push them back a moderate distance. After Nu pushed them back, she extended her arms and proceeded to summon a couple of swords.
"That Nu girl is . . . strong, I'm actually a little scared." Noel said to her friends
"You know what, I get the feeling that she's still holding back. In fact, she looks a little younger than Ruby." Blake commented
"She does look strong but that just means team JNPR will have a good challenge. Don't worry they got this." Yang said still believing in team JNPR
"I'm more excited to see what Nu can do with those cool swords she summoned." Ruby said while paying attention to the match
After Nu summoned her swords, Ren made a move to shoot at her. As he proceeded to do so, he found himself running to the side avoiding some gunshots from Emerald. After dodging, Ren chose to instead shoot at Emerald. The shots from both Ren and Emerald clashed with each other and both of the shooters were showing no sign of backing down.
Nora quickly realized that she was fighting against Mercury and Cinder but wasn't afraid, if anything she's excited. Nora started to fire at both Mercury and Cinder while making sure to keep the both of them at a distance. Neither Cinder or Mercury were intimidated and stayed calm during the whole situation. Cinder proceeded to get behind Mercury while the gray-haired student proceeded to breakdance. As Mercury was breakdancing, he was able to deflect each of Nora's grenade shots with his various kicks while breakdancing. After Mercury deflected more of the grenade shots, he proceeded to fire several blasts from his boots and aimed them at Nora. Reacting quickly, Nora transformed her grenade launcher to its hammer form and was able to quickly knock away a lot of the blasts from Mercury.
Meanwhile, Nu found herself fighting against both Jaune and Pyrrha after she summoned her swords. Pyrrha and Jaune time training and working together have payed off greatly, because the both of them are able to attack in wonderful unison. Unfortunately, Nu was able to easily and quickly dodge and deflect each of Jaune's and Pyrrha's sword attacks. After a few seconds, Nu was able to kick Pyrrha away and hit Jaune with a series quick slashes. Jaune was able to stand his ground, but was able to realize that the both of them needs a plan if their going to stand a chance against the eye-patched girl.
"Jaune go help Nora, I'll handle her." Pyrrha said to Jaune
"Pyrrha I can still . . ." Jaune said before Pyrrha spoke up
"Nora is fighting two people at once, you need to make it even. Besides I can hold her off long enough for to come and help." Pyrrha said causing Jaune to look and see that Nora is fighting both Cinder and Mercury
"Oh right, I forgot about those two. I'll be back as quickly as I can." Jaune said before he ran to help Nora against her opponents
After Jaune ran to help Nora, Pyrrha put her entire focus on Nu. Pyrrha couldn't explain why or how, but she suspects that Nu is holding back something big and was glad that Jaune is out of harms way so she could fully focus on the fight. After looking at Nu, Pyrrha fully charged at Nu while the younger girl did the same thing. Once they got close, their blades clashed with each other. A brief second later, Nu started to push back Pyrrha which surprised the famed student at the amount of strength Nu has. After being pushed back, Pyrrha used her rifle to shoot at Nu, until one of her other teammates could help her. As Pyrrha was firing, Nu was able to deflect each of the rifle shots with ease and continued her advancement towards Pyrrha.
"Team CMSN is holding back, their either trying to avoid getting caught. Or its part of their plan." Ragna said while watching the match
"What do you think of the matches so far Saya?" Celica asked Saya
There a lot of fun to watch, I wish I could fight like that." Saya said which Ragna overheard
"Trust me sis, you don't. I can't tell you about the amount of training we all do just to be that good." Ragna told Saya
"Ragna's right, besides one of the things that makes these tournament fights fun to watch is that there are restrictions and guidelines and no murder." Celica said to Saya
"Unless you can work around it with nobody knowing." Ragna thought while he continued to watch the match
Ren and Emerald ended up fighting at close quarters for a few minutes with the both of them being evenly matched. After a brief moment, Emerald jumped back and extended her chain sickles and tried to attack Ren from a moderate distance. Reacting quickly, Ren was able to dodge the sickles and tried to maintain the distance and pressure by firing after he dodges. Emerald used her weapon to deflect the shots and kept moving while trying to attack Ren. As the both of them kept trying to land a hit on each other, they both ended up hiding behind a different rock on the terrain. Ren was patiently waiting for Emerald to make a move that Ren could take advantage of.
"Gotcha." Emerald said getting Ren out of his thoughts after hearing Emerald. When Ren turned to the side, he saw Emerald standing on a rock and was getting ready to fire. After seeing Emerald, Ren leaped to the side and drew his dual guns and was prepared to fire at Emerald only to see that she's gone. When Ren didn't see Emerald he questioned what happened, but before he could think of something. He was wrapped by a chained sickle and was pulled towards Emerald. Once Ren got close, Ren was attacked by Emerald and was knocked back a good distance. Ren was able to quickly recover, but looked at the screen and saw that his aura was at 45 percent. After seeing this, Ren decided to maintain distance and proceeded to fire at Emerald.
"It appears that one brief second of Ren losing his cool allowed Emerald the chance to deal a major blow to him. Though Ren is able to stay in the match, how much longer will he be able to keep this up?" Dr. Oobleck announced to the audience
Nora was able to hold her own against both Mercury and Cinder but was not able to do anything major against both of her opponents. After Mercury tried to blast at Nora again, The hammer wielder was able to avoid the blasts. Once Nora got far enough, she proceeded to transform Magnhild into its grenade launched form and fired at both Cinder and Mercury. Mercury fired his boots at the grenades and Cinder proceeded to get close to Nora and was able to hit her before Nora could counter attack. After getting kicked by Cinder, Nora was knocked back a small distance and briefly bewildered by the attack combo. Seeing this, Mercury decided to take advantage and decided to fire at Nora while he had the chance. Before the blast could reach a dazed Nora, Jaune jumped in front of Nora and was able to block the blast with his shield.
"Thanks for the save Jaune." Nora said in a grateful tone before she focused on the two opponents
"No problem Nora, but we have to deal with them quickly. Pyrrha is up against Nu and she's a lot tougher than she looks." Jaune said before him and Nora fought against Mercury and Cinder
Nu and Pyrrha spent a good deal of time fighting against each other with their respective skills and weapons. At first glance, it appears that the both of them are evenly matched. Though when a skilled warrior takes a closer look, it can be seen that Nu is slowly but surely overwhelming Pyrrha. Pyrrha is able to block a good number of Nu's sword attacks with her shield. But as things are at the moment, Pyrrha won't be able to maintain her defenses before Nu gets through. After a few more seconds, Pyrrha was able to think of a plan after she took a quick glance at the surrounding area. After thinking of a plan, Pyrrha decided to step back for a few seconds and focused on dodging and blocking Nu's attacks. Nu kept up her attack assault and had a bored look while doing it too. After a few more seconds, Pyrrha blocked another of Nu's attacks but this time she decided to hold her ground. Nu was slowly pushing Pyrrha back like before, but this time Pyrrha was prepared for it. Using a combination of her strength and semblance, Pyrrha was able to flip over Nu using her shield for a stable hold. After getting behind Nu, Pyrrha proceeded to shield bash Nu with the hopes of knocking her off the area.
Unfortunately, the push didn't send Nu back far and she used her swords to regain her hold of the ground by stabbing into it. After Nu regained her foothold, she used a good deal of her strength to ram into Pyrrha and was able to knock her down. When Nu saw Pyrrha down, she was prepared to attack her but quickly saw Jaune and Nora fight against both Mercury and Cinder and quickly thought of an idea. Nu turned towards Jaune and positioned her aim at him and changed her sword into a different form and proceeded to take aim. When Pyrrha saw what Nu was doing, she realized what Nu planned to do and moved out of instinct. A quick second later, Nu quickly threw her sword with a great deal of strength. Before the sword could hit Jaune, Pyrrha was able to block the sword throw with her shield. Pyrrha was knocked back a moderate distance but was able to stay in the arena and regain her footing. Unfortunately for Pyrrha, before she was able to do recover and get back to fighting in the match. Nu was able to quickly run to her and attack her with a strong cross slash attack. The attack was strong enough to knock Pyrrha out of the arena and deplete her aura.
"PYRRHA!" team RWBY yelled after Pyrrha was knocked out.
"Ouch, looks like there is much more to little Nu than we thought. Because she was able to eliminate Pyrrha" Professor Port announced
"I didn't think anyone would be able to get the better of Pyrrha of all people." Noel said in a surprised tone
"I can't believe she was eliminated." Weiss said
"Nu is a lot stronger than she looks. Not to mention that Pyrrha blocked an attack from Jaune and took a big hit. I think Nu realized that Pyrrha would rather defend her teammate than to keep fighting if he can do it." Blake said after seeing the fight
After Pyrrha was eliminated, Ren decided to go after Nu while he had the chance. Once he got to her, Ren made a move to attack Nu while her back was turned. Before Ren's attack could connect, Nu was able to dodge the attack and locked blades with Ren. While Ren and Nu were holding each other down, Nora decided to turn her attention to Nu. Realizing that if Nu is the greater threat to the team. Once Nora saw Nu, she decided to aim her grenade launcher at her with the hope to deal a major blow. After firing, Nora quickly ran to the side to avoid more of Mercury's blasts.
Nu was able to hear the grenade launcher being fired and quickly did a back flip to avoid it. Unfortunately, Ren was hit with the grenade blast instead and ended up getting staggered. Before Ren could do anything, Emerald wrapped Ren up in her chained sickle and threw him out of bounds.
After dodging more of Mercury's blasts, she saw that Ren was eliminated and realized that her and Jaune are outnumbered. After a quick second, Jaune and Nora stood back to back with each other and was prepared for whatever comes next.
"Any ideas Jaune, because things aren't looking too good for us." Nora said while looking at team CMSN. As they were looking, Jaune noticed a thundercloud and quickly thought of an idea.
"Nora get to the cloud, I'll hold them off for as long as I can." Jaune said to Nora after pointing to the thundercloud
"You got it." Nora said before she transformed her weapon to its hammer form and hit Jaune's shield to launch herself to the thundercloud
"Why it appears that Ms. Valkyrie, one of my favorite students is getting herself ready to use her semblance. In which she will use the electricity to strengthen her body and aura." Professor Port announced as Nora was getting stronger by the thunder.
After Nora got stronger, she felt a great deal of energy and smirked at the first target of her newfound strength which is Nu. Nora then decided to leap to the air with her hammer and proceeded to do a powerful hammer smash against Nu. The proceeding smash created a dust storm and caused everyone to back away. Once the dust storm cleared, everyone was surprised to see that Nu was able to block the hammer attack with her hand. Before anyone could process this, Nu grabbed the handle of Nora's hammer and proceeded to throw her to the side. After Nora was thrown, she made a move to attack further but was interrupted when Mercury proceeded to repeatedly fire at Nora. Nora was able to endure the blasts, but she wasn't prepared for a dual attack from both Emerald and Cinder. After the attack, Nora was knocked out and her aura was depleted.
When Jaune saw that it was just him, he felt afraid and wanted run and hide. But he knew that he wouldn't live with himself if he ran away in fear and did nothing. Realizing that he had nothing to lose, Jaune took a deep breath and assumed his stance with his sword and shield in his hands.
"There's no shame in calling it quits." Cinder said to Jaune in a mocking tone
"I never give up, so take your best shot." Jaune said in a confident tone before he charged at team CMSN. After a quick second, Jaune was knocked out of the arena and ended up joining Pyrrha and Ren
"Ouch, with the elimination of Jaune, the winner of this match is team CMSN from Haven. Though they unfortunately have lost, team JNPR have fought valiantly." Dr. Oobleck announced to the audience
"Ouch poor Jaune, I know he did his best but it looked like team CMSN was better. Especially that girl named Nu." Noel said in a somber tone
"They did their best, and honestly that's victory enough." Weiss said
"They could probably use some cheering up, maybe I should bake some cake for them like last time." Noel suggested causing Makoto and Weiss to have a look of pure horror on their faces
"You know what Noellers, maybe our company would be much better. Besides they probably want to eat some stuff at the food stalls since the festival is once a year. Jaune and the rest of his team can eat your cooking at any time." Makoto told Noel
"Unfortunately." Weiss muttered in a low tone
When Jin watched at the match, there was a part of him that hoped team JNPR would win. But after thinking about everything he knew about what Cinder was after and the warning that Ragna told him. Jin fully suspected that the match would end in only one way. Though what made team CMSN stand out further to Jin is Nu and her show of skill and strength that allowed her to best Pyrrha.
"You did well Jaune, learn from this and get stronger." Jin muttered before he proceeded to walk away
As team CMSN was leaving the arena, they were basking in the cheers of the audience. As they were leaving the arena, Cinder looked around and was able to notice Ragna with his family. After seeing Ragna, Cinder proceeded to wave in a casual manner while having a smile on her face. While the audience sees it as being genuine for the audience cheers. Ragna on the other hand sees that Cinder is mocking him, it angers him that he doesn't know what she's planning, but he is in no position to do anything since he doesn't have all the facts.
"Hey Ragna, she's waving a lot in our direction. Do you know her?" Celica asked in curious tone
"No, she's just basking in the moment." Ragna said while mentally on guard for whatever Cinder has planned

"You know, even that team with the blonde and red head lost. I have to admit, they put up a pretty good fight. They should be proud of themselves that they fought honorably and bravely." The Bartender said
"Please, they would have stood a much better chance if that red-head wasn't pulling everyone's weight as well as her own. They were holding her back, but that's just my opinion." Qrow said before he took another drink
"What's your problem, you never liked any of fights so far. So why be so hard on them, their just some kids." The Bartender said
"Let's just say that I've got a lot of experience on the field that made me a bit jaded. Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta get outta here." Qrow said as he was getting and a brief second before an Atlus airship flew past
"Because I have my own fight to get back to." Qrow said before he threw some lien on the counter and walked away

For team RWBY vs team CBAJ
Both teams are evenly matched in terms of weapons and abilities. But when skills and strategy are made a factor, it makes a huge difference.
Jam's semblance is called generate. When she's fighting, her body generates a lot more natural heat over time and the hotter she is the stronger she can be. When Jam's body temperature is high enough due to her semblance, her feet can generate fire and after enough time passes her feet can generate blue fire. Also Jam has a VERY high tolerance to the heat.
When Jam fought Yang, the both of them are evenly matched. So the best and only way for one of them to win was for them to fight a different person. Unfortunately for Jam, Weiss was able to figure out Jam's weakness and decided to make the environment cold which would weaken Jam and her semblance.
For Bridget, he is a strong and creative fighter with his yo-yos. But none of his tactics would work well against Yang. So it was only a mater of time until Yang delivered a knock out blow.
Chipp's semblance is called zoom, from a surface he's standing on he can mover very quickly in one direction. Unfortunately, it's not as versa tile as Ruby's and he has to be on a surface before he can change direction. Ruby's semblance allows her to change direction at a high speed without many restrictions. Because of this Ruby was able to quickly figure out a way to counter Chipp's tactics.
When it came down to Answer fighting against Ruby and Blake. Answer used his training to buy himself time to figure out a way to beat both Blake and Ruby. He was able to figure out that Ruby isn't very capable without her weapon, which is one of Ruby's biggest weaknesses. Once Answer disarmed Ruby, he was able to deal with her easily. But was unprepared for Blake and her semblance. When Blake made a move to deal a critical blow, Answer's dust jacket ensured that the both of them would be taken out. I would like to think that even though the move is ill advised, it isn't entirely illegal, especially since it was non-lethal.
For team JNPR vs team CMSN
It was really hard to figure out who team JNPR would be fighting against. But ultimately I went with team CMSN because I wanted to establish a chance for Nu to show how strong she is against other characters. I also didn't want the only person she fought so far be Ragna. It was a tough call but this was the decision I made, each member of team JNPR is strong in a different way, but team CMSN, is much stronger. Especially Nu, who is one of the strongest characters in the story.
Team JNPR, losing in the first round is a MAJOR diverting point from canon. Those who knows what happened in volume 3 of RWBY knows that Pyrrha making it to the finals has a lot of significance in the events that occurred. It was always planned for team JNPR to lose in either the first round or the doubles round. So doing it this early took the guesswork out of how certain events will occur in this story.
I know exactly what will happen and I can assure you all, it will be different. But I can't give any hints, but you are all welcomed to guess or speculate what will happen.
