(A/N) I have to announce that I'm changing the name of Sol's semblance from aura burn to Blast Burn. When going over the concepts of volume 3 of this story, I realize that Blast Burn is a much better name.
To answer a quick question, even though Ragna and Nu has the Grimm Aura, the power of the silver eyes won't have much affect against them. The full reason is a massive spoiler.
Chapter 44 Lessons and Challenges
(Fairgrounds)
After enduring a major loss, team JNPR quickly left the arena and was able to receive immediate medical attention. The good news is that nobody was severely hurt and their aura has already taken care of the worst of the injuries. Unfortunately, the bad news is that they all lost and that neither of them can forget about that sense of loss. After being cleared to leave, team JNPR left the arena and decided to go and reflect at a place with as few people as possible. It was decided as a team (mainly Nora) that they would all go to a vendor called Vytal Juice Buzz, which is a juice vendor. Team JNPR has been here for a while and Nora has drank a lot of juice and spent the entire time venting about the situation. Despite none of her teammates feeling as bad about the recent loss (except Jaune).
"We lost, I can't believe that we lost." Nora said in an inebriated tone (despite being sober and not drinking alcohol)
"Nora, its really not that bad. If anything this could be a good learning experience for us." Ren said trying to calm Nora down
"It is that bad Ren, we lost and the entire world saw us lose. Give me another but this time, make it giga-green." Nora said maintaining her inebriated tine
"Nora, I think you've had enough juice." Ren said trying to calm Nora down only for her to slam her fist on the table
"Shut it Ren, I'LL TELL YOU WHEN I'VE HAD ENOUGH!" Nora said as she was drinking more juice before she vented further.
"We had all the pieces to assure our victory. I can bench five of me, we have a ninja on the team, a world champion, and . . . Jaune. Professor Goodwitch doesn't yell at us as much as she yells at Ragna and our weapons are awesome. Yet despite all of that we all lost. Fill er' up again." Nora said as her cup was getting refilled
"Jaune, are you OK?" Pyrrha asked Jaune in a concerned tone after seeing that he's taking the loss as bad as Nora
"I'm not feeling so hot Pyrrha. If I was much stronger, we could have stood a better chance against them. Or at the very least you wouldn't have had to block an attack that was for me." Jaune said being as depressed about the loss as Nora
"Oh and how could I forget about that Nu kid. She looks younger than Ruby and was able to kick our butts with ease. That girl is like a freak of nature, no kid should be that strong." Nora said while she was drinking
"But Ruby is that strong." Ren told Nora
"Ruby is our friend, so she's different." Nora said as she was drinking
"I didn't even do anything worthwhile in that fight. Noel is going to dump me for sure, and the sad thing is I can't blame her." Jaune said in a depressed tone
"Jaune, listen to me Noel is a good person. There is no way that she is going to leave you after a loss like that." Pyrrha said trying to cheer Jaune up
"Oh its not just Noel that will leave Jaune. All of our friends will slowly but surely abandon us to preserve their social status. It will start by people refusing to sit next to us in class and in the food hall. Since me and Ren have no place to go, it will be 4 years of living in shame and disgrace. In a matter of time we'll all be known as team losiper." Nora said before she lid her head on the counter
"Neither of you have nothing to worry about." Bang said quickly getting team JNPR's attention
"I was on my way over here when I heard the whole thing. I can assure you all, you have nothing to worry about regarding our friendship Nora. I Bang Shishigami will never abandon a friend or comrade who has faced bitter defeat. If you are to lose a thousand tournament matches, our friendship will never waver." Bang said to team JNPR before he directed his attention to Jaune
"Jaune, as a protector of love and justice, I highly doubt that Noel will leave you. But if she does dump you after you have suffered a defeat. Then I'm afraid that she's not the right girl for you. After all, there is a lot of merit to a man who can face the future after enduring defeat." Bang said cheering Jaune up before he turned his attention to Nora
"As for you Nora, if you and Ren truly have no home to go to. Then I will consult with Lord Tenjo and convince her to let you two have a home in Ronin-Gai." Bang told Nora
"Tha . . . thank you Bang. Team Losiper will never forget you're kindness." Nora said to Bang
"Bang, we appreciate the kind words. But I think Nora and Jaune is just being a bit dramatic. As long as we learn from this we can be better." Ren told Bang
"He's right, besides it was still an exciting match and not one where lives are on the line. But we all appreciate you coming by to cheer us up Bang. By the way, where is the rest of your team?" Pyrrha asked Bang
"Tao is eating at the food vendor, while Amane and Bullet is making sure she doesn't go overboard. I got finished with some warm-ups with Baiken. So right now, I'm watching the fights while waiting for our own match." Bang explained to Pyrrha
"Hey everyone." Makoto was with her getting everyone's attention. When Jaune saw Noel, he took a deep breath and started to approach her
"Umm Jaune, is there something wrong?" Noel asked in a concerned tone
"I'm sorry Noel!" Jaune said in a pleading tone which shocked everyone. Before Noel could question it, Jaune spoke further
"I know you saw the match, and I feel really bad about it. So there's no doubt that your embarrassed to be going out with someone who couldn't put up a good fight compared to his other more amazing teammates." Jaune said in a pleading tone to Noel
"But Jaune I . . . ." Noel said before Jaune continued
"I thought about it for a bit and if you want to end things with me, I'll completely understand. But please the only thing I ask is that you don't go out with a jerk and . . . ." Jaune continued before Noel interrupted him
"Jaune, stop, stop, stop, I'm not mad or disappointed in you. In fact, I'm proud of you more than you think. When you fought team CMSN, you worked together with your team and made the best of a hard situation. In fact, you and your team did wonderfully and none of you have anything to be ashamed of. Not to mention that you were facing high odds and didn't back down. Instead, you faced them head on with your weapons and courage. Like a noble knight facing a powerful threat. With nothing but his sword, shield, and determination to never give up. You were so cool in that match." Noel told Jaune
"Tha . . . thank you Noel, I'm glad that your proud of me and not giving upon me." Jaune told Noel
"If only you could cheer up Nora like you did Jaune, Noellers. I think she's taking the loss a lot harder than her team." Makoto said casing Noel to take a quick look at Nora
"Well, losing can still be rough. How about I bake her some cake to help her feel better?" Noel said causing Nora to sit up completely
"You know what, I feel a lot better all of a sudden. Besides, losing isn't really that bad and we still have next year to redeem ourselves. So you do not have to bake me some cake to make me feel better Noel." Nora said wanting to avoid eating Noel's cooking
"Oh, well since we both won't be fighting in the tournament. How about I cook you some food? I thought of some new recipes and I really want your opinion on them." Noel said to Jaune causing Nora and Makoto to motion for Jaune to not eat Noel's cooking behind her back. The movement motion that Nora is making is her vomiting and her stomach being in aching pain. The movement motion that Makoto is making is her playing dead after eating.
"Um you know what Noel, it looks like these food vendors are only around for the Vytal festival and I can eat your cooking anytime. So how about we stick to the food vendors for now?" Jaune suggested to Noel
"OK, I can do that, it will give me a chance to learn more recipe ideas." Noel said in agreement causing Nora and Makoto to give a thumbs up
"Will team BLST and team CRDL please come to the arena for your match." The announcer said over the intercom causing Bang to jump up
"Well then, it is time I go and participate. Wish me luck everyone." Bang said before he ran off
"But Bang ran off before we could wish him good luck." Jaune said after Bang left
"I guess he wants to get to the arena and not miss his match." Makoto said to everyone
"We should finish up too, so we can watch his team's match and cheer him on." Ren said with everyone agreeing
(The Arena)
"Things are now more intense than ever as the tournament advances on. Especially since for this match, it will be a clash of students from our very own Beacon Academy. It will be team CRDL going up against team BLST." Professor Port announced to the cheering audience. After the announcement, both teams were able to make it to the middle of the arena. Once they all made it to the arena, the field randomizer started to occur
"I've waited a long time for this. I'm going to enjoy giving you a beating Amane." Cardin said as he was wielding his mace
"Cardin, even though I dislike you as a person. I do hope that you would present a fair and honorable battle on this day." Bang told Cardin
"Speak for yourself." Cardin said
"I would be forgiven for thinking that you would change your ways after a few months at Beacon. But it seems that you need to be knocked down a few more pegs." Amane said in a confident tone. After a few seconds, the arena changed into a forest setting.
"You may all, BEGIN!" Professor Port announced causing both teams to fight against each other.
Once the match officially began, Cardin decided to go for Amane. Once Cardin got to Amane, he made several swings at the pink clothed student with the intent to deal a major blow early in the match. Amane on the other hand was able to gracefully dodge each of the attack swings with a combination of speed and grace. Every time Cardin would swing his mace, he would get more and more agitated. Mainly because he was not landing any hits against the effeminate individual.
"You have too much aggression in your movements. If you want to be my partner in this dance, you have to tone it down a bit." Amane told Cardin causing the team leader to keep up with his assault.
Bang spent a few seconds throwing his nails at Dove. Unfortunately, Dove was able to deflect a good number of the nails with his sword. After deflecting more nails, Dove proceeded to run towards Bang after deciding to fight him in close quarters. Once Dove got close, he proceeded to swing his sword at Bang. Reacting quickly, Bang was able to block some of Dove's sword attack. But ended up enduring a couple of hits in the process. After a few more seconds, Dove was able to land a few more hits against Bang and was able to push him back a bit. After Bang was pushed back, Dove proceeded to run towards him with the intent to deal a major blow. Fortunately, Bang blocked the sword attack with one of his gauntlets and when the sword hit, the gauntlet glowed for a moment and Dove was stunned. After Dove was stunned, Bang proceeded to land a series of quick punches and kicks against his opponent and was able to send him back a moderate distance.
Bullet stood face to face with her opponent Sky Lark. When Bullet looked at her opponent, she noticed that Sky was wielding his axe and decided to make a motion for Sky to get closer. Sky proceeded to run to Bullet and made a move to swing his axe against Bullet. Before the axe swing got close, Bullet quickly activated her gauntlet shield and deflected the attack. After the attack was deflected, Bullet proceeded to land several quick blows against Sky and knock him back. While Sky was knocked back, Bullet proceeded to attack him with her gauntlet's energy blasts. Reacting quickly, Sky destroyed the energy blasts with his axe while making his way to Bullet. Once Sky got close, he tried to attack Bullet while she was blasting him.
Fortunately, Bullet was able to quickly dodge the axe swing and was able to deal a strong and direct punch to Sky. The punch was strong enough to send Sky back a far distance. Though despite the strong attack, Sky was able to stand but his aura is at 85 percent.
"Using her natural strength, Bullet has given herself an advantage in terms of aura over her opponent. I wonder how Sky will handle Bullet now." Professor Port announced to a cheering audience
Tao and Russel spent a good deal of time fighting against each other in the forest area. Russel was able to skillfully use his daggers to block and deflect Tao's weaponized claws. Though Tao did the best she could, she was unable to land any major blows against her opponent. After a few seconds, the both of them ended up fighting in a section of the arena that had a lot of trees. After taking a quick look at their surroundings, Tao smirked because she had an idea that would make things easier for her.
Russel noticed Tao's smirk and didn't want to give her the chance to do what she's planning. So Russel proceeded to pursuit Tao to stop her from whatever she's going to do. Thinking quickly, Tao used her semblance to summon her clones and stop Russel's pursuit. After the clones stopped Russel, Tao proceeded to jump into the nearby trees successfully hiding her presence with her clones quickly following after her. Once Tao and her clones hid themselves in the trees, Russel was on guard for anything that Tao would do. After a brief second, One of the clones jumped down from the tree and charged at Russel. Reacting quickly, Russel dodged out of the way and was able to avoid the clones lunge. After the clone missed, she returned to the tree and Russel returned to his guard.
For a few minutes, Russel continuously avoided the attack lunges from Tao and her clones. As he spent time dodging the clones, Russel backed up to a tree and quickly realized that he has no more movement room. When he noticed another attack lunge from the corner of his eye. Russel was able to avoid it, but he was too late to notice another clone get close to him. By the time he did notice, it was too late for him to do anything. Once Tao's clone got close, she hit Russel with enough force and strength to knock him into the other clone. For a few seconds, both of the clones knocked Russel continuously back and forth. Similar to two people playing the game ping pong with each other. This time though, Tao's clones were the players and Russel was the ball. After one of the clones knocked Russel upwards, the original Tao dived towards Russel and was able to land on top of him. When Russel looked at Tao, she brandished her claws and had a devious smile on her face and proceeded to assault him with her natural claws and her weaponized claws.
"GYAAAAA!" Russel yelled as he was being furiously scratched by Tao
"Ouch, is that even legal?" Professor Port asked
"Yes, and very painful. Tao's strength, speed, and her natural skills gave her the advantage over Russel and was able to eliminate him very quickly." Dr. Oobleck announced to the audience
"I got eliminated by a freak." Russel muttered before he lost consciousness
Sky and Bullet spent some time fighting each other. Though Bullet was able to block his axe attacks with ease. She was unable to deal any crucial blows against her opponent. Sky learned from earlier and decided to change his tactics. So he decided to keep Bullet at a distance and not to stay in close quarters longer than needed. However, When Bullet looked at the area. She immediately thought of a plan and figured out a way to beat Sky quickly. Bullet decided to resume firing her gauntlet energy blasts at her opponent. Sky decided to continuously deflect each energy blast with relative ease.
"You can't keep this up forever." Sky told Bullet in a mocking tone
"That punch I gave you earlier must have made you even dumber. I'm not trying to keep this up forever, I just need to buy some time." Bullet said with a smirk causing Sky to look at her in slight confusion.
After Bullet spoke, Sky noticed a grapple claw that was launched near him. Before he could respond, one of Tao's clones quickly kicked and he was knocked around for a few seconds. After a few moments, Tao's clones knocked Sky towards Bullet and she proceeded to deliver a strong blow. The punch wasn't strong enough to bring his aura down completely, but it was strong enough to knock Sky out of bounds.
"With that impressive display of teamwork, Sky is out of bounds giving team BLST a major advantage." Professor Port announced
"Wow, Tao really came a long way since coming to Beacon hasn't she?" Ruby asked her team
"Of course and her natural skills allowed her to fully utilize the forest. So when Russel went into the forest with Tao, he never stood a chance." Blake said agreeing with Ruby
"Hey guys, take a look at Amane, notice how he's fighting Cardin." Weiss said causing her team to look at both Amane and Cardin
"What fight, all I see is Amane dodging all of Cardin's attacks as if he was dancing. He hasn't even made an attempt to hit Cardin." Yang said after she took a look at Amane and Cardin
"I think that's the point, notice that whenever Amane fights he rarely takes it seriously. If anything, he focuses on bettering other people through the fights." Weiss saiad as she was watching
"Come to think of it, has anyone ever seen Amane fight seriously?" Blake asked causing the girls to think for a second.
Amane spent a lot of time dodging Cardin's attack with his mace. The look on Amane's face suggests that he is seeing the fight as a show and is enjoying himself. His movements which is very similar to a dance confirms as such. Cardin on the other hand is slowly but surly getting furious. Every time Cardin attacks, Amane dodges with ease as if he was dancing to some music. Making things more insulting is that Amane hasn't made a single attack during the match. This is fortunate for Cardin since he doesn't have to worry about his aura being lost. However, this works against him because he is getting more and more exhausted and one good hit will bring his aura down greatly.
"I told you earlier, you need to bring down that aggression you have. Either bring it down, or you'll put your team in a major disadvantage both for this match and in the long term." Amane told Cardin
"You think I'm scared of you?" Cardin said before he made a strong attack, Amane was able to quickly get out of the way and when he did. Cardin realized that he was about to attack Dove. Even though Cardin realized what Amane did, he was unable to do anything. After Cardin unintentionally attacked Dove, the swordsman was knocked to the side. Before Cardin could check on his teammate, Amane wrapped him in his aura sash and threw him to where Dove was at. After being thrown, Dove and Cardin stood up and stood back to back with each other.
"I didn't mean to attack you like that Dove. Amane tricked me and I didn't realize it until it was too late." Cardin told Dove
"What do you suggest we do now Cardin?" Dove asked Cardin
"We switch, you take on pinky while I take on loud and sweaty." Cardin said before they switched places. Cardin with mace in hand charged towards Bang, while Dove armed with his sword went for Amane.
When Cardin got close to Bang, he made a strong swing at Bang. With his heightened reflexes, Bang quickly ducked and was able to dodge the mace attack with ease. After dodging, Bang was able to hit Cardin with a series of quick attacks that were a combination of his punches and kicks. The attack combo was strong enough to knock Cardin back and due to being tired out from trying to attack Amane and missing. Cardin found himself very tired.
Dove on the other hand wasn't doing any better against Amane. Like earlier Amane was quickly ang gracefully dodging each attack. This time though, Amane was directing Dove and leading him on. After spending a few seconds dodging Dove's attacks, Amane had a smirk and decided to speak.
"Last chance to change tactics and make this dance more pleasant." Amane told Dove
"You think I'm scared, we still got this." Dove said causing Amane to shake his head in disappointment.
After doing so, Amane jump kicked Dove causing him to be knocked back. When Cardin made a move to attack, Bang quickly dodged and counterattacked which knocked Cardin himself back. After a quick second, both Cardin and Dove were knocked into each other and before they could do anything. Amane quickly wrapped the both of them with his aura sash and threw them towards Bullet. Once the both of them got close, Bullet threw a strong punch and was able to send the two guys out of bounds.
"With that impressive display of teamwork form, the remaining members of team CRDL is out of bounds. The winner of this match is team BLST." Professor Port announced
"Alright Bang!" Nora yelled out with a lot of energy
"He actually did pretty good against Cardin and his team." Jaune said while watching the match
"Ugh, that was brutal." Cardin said as he was recovering from the fall. When he looked up, he saw Amane standing above him
"So what are you going to do, insult us and call us a failure?" Cardin said while looking at Amane. After hearing Cardin, Amane wrapped his aura sash around Cardin and Dove and proceeded to heal them
"My aura sash can do a lot of things. Don't worry, I'll heal your teammates once I'm done with you two." Amane told Cardin as he was healing them
"Why, you don't have to heal us. You could just leave us to bask in our defeat." Cardin said
"Because I want to tell you something. Even though you're not the most pleasant person to know. That doesn't mean your irredeemable. I have a good belief that if people are willing to understand their own shortcomings and learn from them. Then they can become a better person in the long run." Amane told Cardin as he was healing him. Once Amane was finished, Amane spoke further.
"I heard how you were bullying Jaune a few months ago. Then after the trip to the Verivert Swamp the bullying stopped. I even heard how Jaune was the only one to fight and save your life. I don't know the full story, but if your capable of being grateful for having your life saved. Then you are capable of changing to be a better person." Amane said before he proceeded to go and heal Cardin's other teammates. As he was going, he turned back to look at Cardin
"Think about why you wanted to be a Huntsmen. Then ask yourself if it's the right reason for yourself and everyone. If you can answer those two questions and have a full understanding of them. Then you can easily become a better person." Amane said as he was leaving
After hearing Amane speak, Cardin initially felt like he was being looked down upon after losing a math in front of the whole world. Though when he thought about it further, he realized that maybe Amane has a point. Especially sine he remembered what Hakumen said to both him and Jaune.
"That smug . . . come on Cardin his back is turned. We can teach him a lesson, we got nothing to lose." Dove said before he made a move to attack Amane. Before he went too far, Cardin raised his arm and held him back.
"Wait Dove, maybe we should take this time to think about how we do things." Cardin said causing Dove to look at his teammate in confusion
"Alright, team BLST is going to advance to the next round." Ruby said with a great deal of enthusiasm
"Oh please let them choose Bullet. I can't wait to have a rematch against her. Especially since we both have gotten stronger." Yang said with a lot of enthusiasm. Before Weiss could say anything, she noticed an airship that was flying by and was about to land. When Weiss focused on the ship further, she recognized it and found herself happy.
"She's here, I can't believe that she's here." Weiss said in a happy tone
"Who' here Weiss?" Ruby asked
"My sister, Winter." Weiss said happily
"Oh really, well that's nice." Ruby said before Weiss proceeded to quickly leave
"Its not often that I see Weiss smile. I'm gonna to go catch up to her, she knows my sister so its only fair I meet hers." Ruby told Yang and Blake
"Alright sis, me and Blake will watch some more fights." Yang said while her and Blake stayed in the seats
"They all fought valiantly and I'm glad that they are proceeding. Is anyone hungry, I could go for something to eat." Pyrrha said to her team
"Yep, I have a big appetite and my stomach's been rumbling for what feels like hours." Nora said back to her energetic self
"I'm not surprised that you have a big appetite Nora. But you just drank a lot of juice and . . . ." Ren said before Nora cut him off
"I wanted to see the match first, now lets get some food." Nora said before her and the rest of her team started to leave. As they were heading out, team JNPR came across someone that they didn't want to deal with. They saw Jin, watching the match and after a brief moment team JNPR was spotted by him.
"Oh great, it's the Hero of Vale. Alright Hero, so what are you going to do now, lecture us or insult us. Whatever it is, just get it over with." Nora said to Jin in a frustrated tone
"I won't bother with the insults, but I will lecture you all on your performance. Each of you fought well initially. But when Pyrrha was eliminated, you all fell apart and as a result made your loss more certain. Work on your individual strengths, as well as your own coordination and you will do better next time." Jin told team JNPR causing Nora to get mad.
"Hey, we all did our best, it wasn't our fault that Nu girl was crazy strong. Besides, I happen to think that we worked well together." Nora responded in a bold tone
"The strength of your opponent is no excuse for you to ignore your own faults and shortcomings. Besides, from I saw the moment Pyrrha was eliminated, all of you ignored your own individual opponents and focused on that girl. While ignoring the ones you were initially fighting. Instead of continuing to fight your initial opponents and keeping guard for an extra threat. You all fell apart and the coordination you all had crumbled. Making things much easier for team CMSN to claim victory." Jin told team JNPR, when Nora made a motion to counter Jin's statements. She thought about his words for a moment and begrudgingly realized that Jin has a point. When Pyrrha was eliminated they all lost focus and anything resembling teamwork was practically destroyed.
"Then we'll learn from this and do better Jin." Jaune said getting his teams attention
"We'll learn from this and get stronger and better. Then next time, you'll see what team JNPR can do Jin." Jaune said with a focused tone and look to Jin
"I'm counting on it." Jin said before he left to his own business. After Jin left, Jaune took a breath in relief after he saw Jin left.
"Whew, I thought that he would freeze me solid for a second." Jaune said in a tone of relief
"I'm honestly impressed that you held it together Jaune. I know that the two of you are on better terms, but he can still be hard to approach sometimes." Ren told Jaune in an impressed tone
"Thanks Ren, even though I hate to admit it Jin's right. Even though our opponents are strong, we can't use that as an excuse for our own faults. We have to do better, so we'll need to train and improve as much as possible. But let's do it after the Vytal Festival." Jaune said to his team with them nodding in approval. Once Ren and Jaune were far from the girls, Nora started to speak to Pyrrha
"The way Jaune spoke to Jin and what he said to us. Jaune looked like a cool and model team leader doesn't he?" Nora asked Pyrrha
"Yes he does Nora, and I'm glad to be a part of his life." Pyrrha said with a smile to Nora
(Beacon Airship landing zone)
After watching the matches, Ragna decided to look around Beacon for something he could use against Cinder. He was tempted to stay close to Celica and Saya but if he did, he would risk drawing a lot of suspicion and risk making them uneasy. He knows that Jin will investigate in his own way as well, but Ragna isn't the type of person to stand by and do nothing. As he was looking around for something, he took another look at the army General Ironwood brought and the sight of it infuriated Ragna even more.
"So that Maiden is the reason the General brought his army here. I can't stress enough how much of a stupid move that is. If this army couldn't stop the Grimm from invading the City. Then how can they stop Cinder and protect people including my family." Ragna thought to himself as he was walking.
Before he walked away further, he saw Weiss. When he looked further out of curiosity, he saw a young woman arguing with someone who has black hair and is wielding a weapon that looks similar to Ruby's and his weapon. When Ragna looked further, the young woman looked like an older version of Weiss and more militaristic. Normally Ragna wouldn't bother with things involving the military. But something about the young woman rubbed Ragna the wrong way. So he decided to take a closer look
"Geez you Atlus Specialists think your so special huh?" Qrow said to Winter
"Its in the title Qrow." Winter said in frustrated tone to Qrow
"Well you know what you really are? You're all a bunch of sellouts, just like your boss General Ironwood." Qrow said to Winter not intimidated by her
"I'm not sure what you think your implying. But I've heard enough." Winter told Qrow
"What's wrong, think your too good to take some criticism. In that case, that makes you a stubborn baby that thinks your better than everyone." Ragna said getting everyone's attention
"Oh no." Weiss said in a tone of dread after recognizing the voice
"Who are you supposed to be?" Winter asked in a frustrated tone
"I'm a student of Beacon who also happens to be a concerned citizen. Who also happens to agree with that man. You bring your army here thinking you can protect everyone. Yet ignoring the facts that you can't do anything. Like that Grimm Breach that happened a while ago. It took the military a while to do anything and even then, they were powerless. Then you come along and think we're supposed to treat you like royalty when your anything but that. I've seen enough to know that you guys aren't doing a good job in protecting people." Ragna told Winter
"You act like you know what's going on. But the reality is that you know nothing in the grand scheme of things." Winter responded to Ragna
"Let's go Winter, you don't need to deal with Ragna." Weiss said trying to stop things from escalating further knowing the nature of the two. Though at hearing the name Ragna, Winter moved Weiss out of the way and took a better look at him
"I see so you're the infamous Ragna that my sister wrote to me about. A careless attitude, complete disregard for authority, and from the attire has the makings of a delinquent with terrible grades. My sister's description of you in her letters is very accurate. So far I'm not impressed." Winter said after taking a look at Ragna
"Yep, Ragna is my name but you can also call me Ragna the Bloodedge." Ragna told Winter
"Earlier I met Weiss's team leader Ruby, and I thought that she was underwhelming. But looking at you, your underwhelming, disappointing, and also an embarrassment to what your profession means. I happen to know your other teammate, Jin Kisaragi an individual who is worthy of being a team leader. Though the fact that you're a leader and not him, is a decision that I strongly disagree with." Winter told Ragna after looking at him further
"Wow, already looking and talking down on me huh? Don't take this the wrong way, but where I'm from you talk to us like that. Then you'd be considered a bitch. I guess nobody taught you manners and respect where you come from huh? Though seeing as though your Weiss's family, I can't say I'm surprised." Ragna responded causing Winter to be irritated further
"Well you're a dropout waiting to happen. I'm honestly surprised that you haven't gotten arrested or expelled since coming to Beacon." Winter told Ragna
"Um actually, he assaulted some cops a few months ago. Though he was justified since they were corrupt." Weiss told Winter trying to defend Ragna
"Thank you for confirming my point Weiss." Winter told Weiss
"If I get in trouble for doing the right thing instead of doing nothing. Then I consider it to be a mark of honor. Though you wouldn't know the meaning of that word do you? At least I can say your little sister understood what it meant. But I see that the rest of her family has a long way to go to understand it." Ragna told Winter in a proud and confident tone
"You are pushing your luck Ragna." Winter told Ragna in a frustrated tone
"Touched a nerve did I? Your probably not strong enough to do the right thing. I bet your not strong enough to fight me." Ragna said as he was grabbing his weapon
"I'm not going to waste my time with a immature delinquent." Winter said before she made a move to go somewhere else
"Not gonna try, its fine to admit you can't beat me. After all, your sister won't be able to beat me in the tournament." Ragna said causing Weiss to look at him angrily seeing that he's trying to get a rise out of Winter. At the mention of Weiss, Winter drew her sword and proceeded to face Ragna
"I don't normally waste my time with delinquents. But in your case Ragna the Bloodedge, I'll be more than happy to make an exception." Winter said before she rushed to Ragna and tried to attack him with her sword.
When Winter got close to Ragna, she made a downward slash against Ragna. Reacting quickly, Ragna blocked Winter's attack with his own sword and the two held there ground as a result. After the two held there ground for a quick second, Winter was able to kick Ragna. The kick was strong enough to send him back a small distance but he wasn't hurt.
"Please, I let you have that one." Ragna said in a confident tone before he blocked an attack from Winter again.
After blocking the attack, Ragna proceeded to try to slash at Winter hoping to deal a major blow. Unfortunatly for Ragna, Winter is a lot stronger than she looks and she is able to block and parry a good number of Ragna's attacks. Winter herself tried to deal a major blow to Ragna as well. But to her surprise, Ragna is a lot more skilled than he initially appeared to be. Originally, Winter thought Weiss was exaggerating Ragna's capabilities. But after fighting him for a few seconds, she realized that Ragna is a lot stronger and more skilled than he appeared to be. Every time Winter tried to land a sword attack against Ragna, her attacks were either parried or blocked. Until something changes with either of them, the both of them will be at a stalemate.
"Hmm, that guys not half bad." Qrow muttered while watching Ragna fight Winter
"UNCLE QROW!" Ruby yelled as she hugged him from behind
"Hey kiddo." Qrow said in a slightly happy tone.
"So what's going on?" Ruby asked in a curious tone
"Well . . . ." Qrow started to say before Weiss spoke up to Ruby
"You're here Ruby, that's good. Maybe you can convince that thug to stop fighting my sister." Weiss told Ruby in a frustrated tone
"Huh, but why would I . . . ." Ruby said before she looked at the fight and saw that it was Ragna fighting against Winter
"WOW SO COOL! Get her Ragna, kick her butt and show her what your made of." Ruby said cheering on Ragna
"What . . . . but how can you sheer him on?" Weiss asked in a slightly dumbfounded tone
"Looks like you two know him. You know I like his style." Qrow said not trying to deflate the situation
"You know what, teach him respect Winter." Weiss said cheering on Ragna
Both Ragna and Winter spent several minutes blocking and parrying each other's attacks. Though neither side is backing down, it is clear that the both of them are incredibly strong in terms of skills and experience. After a few more seconds, the both of them found themselves holding their ground against each other. Thinking quickly, Ragna jumped back and was able to avoid a good portion of Winter's attacks. After dodging a few more of Winter's attacks. Ragna changed his sword into its scythe form and was able to deliver a quick slash against Winter. When he made a move to make a follow up attack, Winter quickly dodged the scythe attack and stood on the handle of the scythe. Before Ragna could do anything, Winter delivered a flip kick to Ragna's face and was able to knock him back. Though Ragna was staggered, he is still standing.
"Your stronger than you look thug. You actually managed to hit me." Winter told Ragna before she brought out her second sword
"Wait till you see what else I can do. RESTRICTION RELEASE!" Ragna yelled releasing his seal. Everyone in the area felt the surge of power Ragna released. But instead of confused, Qrow was curious. He was curious at what kind of power Ragna as well as what kind of training he would have gotten.
After Ragna released his seal, Winter quickly charged at Ragna to prevent him from doing what he has planned. When Winter attacked Ragna, he was able to push back Winter a far distance with relative ease. The newfound strength that Ragna has surprised Winter but she didn't show it. After being pushed back she was prepared to pursue Ragna again, but this time it was Ragna who was on the offensive. Ragna quickly charged towards Winter and proceeded to furiously attack Winter at an intense speed. Winter was able to quickly block a good number of Ragna's attacks at a blinding speed. After a few seconds, Winter made a move to attack with her sword while she had the chance. This time though, Ragna was able to dodge and managed to land a direct attack against Winter and was able to absorb her aura in the process. After absorbing some of Winter's aura, Ragna was also able to throw a punch against Winter and proceeded to jump back to make sure he wouldn't get hit by a follow up attack.
After Ragna jumped back making distance between him and Winter. He noticed that Winter was spending a few seconds concentrating while making a glyph. Before Ragna could think on it, Winter summoned a swarm of birds and launched them to Ragna. Reacting quickly, Ragna was able to quickly destroy the birds with a strong burst of his aura. When Ragna took another look at Winter, he saw her summon a glyph behind her indicating that she's getting ready for a major attack. Ragna instead just smirked and held his ground along with his sword.
"Bring it!" Ragna said before Winter proceeded to charge at him with the power of her glyphs. Before Winter was able to land her attack, something unexpected happened. When Winter got close to Ragna, she clashed with something that was strong enough to push her back. Winter as able to recover, but when she saw what it was, she had a visible look of surprise. Which was shared by a lot of the people watching the fight between the two. What everyone was Ragna summoning a glyph that was similar to the Schnee's. but instead of the color white, it was black and red. Which also has Ragna's symbol in the center of it.
"He's summoning a glyph, but it should be impossible." Winter said as she looked at Ragna further
"WINTER!" General Ironwood causing Winter to get out of her thoughts and look at the General. Who is accompanied by Professor Ozpin, Professor Goodwitch, and Penny.
"What is going on here?" General Ironwood asked Winter
"Sir, Ragna started the altercation." Winter quickly told the General casing the adults to look at Ragna while the glyph was dissolving
"That's not true, she made the first attack. It was Winter who didn't have any self-control." Qrow said defending Ragna
"Is that true Winter?" General Ironwood asked
"I . . . yes sir, I fell for his provocations and allowed my pride to take over my better judgment." Winter told the General
"We'll talk about this later." General Ironwood said before he left with Winter following him. Before she went too far, she approached Ragna and started to speak to him
"Everyone, there are much more sanctioned fights in the arena with tasty snacks like popcorn. Also much better seats." Professor Ozpin told the bystanders
"Clear out everyone!" Professor Goodwitch yelled before she fix the damages
"Next time, you won't be so lucky." Winter told Ragna in a slightly low tone
"Anytime, anyplace, I'll be ready." Ragna responded before Winter left to catch up to the General, with Weiss following her. Before Ragna left, Professor Goodwitch approached him after she fixed everything
"Why am I not surprised that you would be involved in this Ragna?" Professor Goodwitch asked Ragna
"She rubbed me the wrong way, and I was frustrated and bothered about a few things. So I decided to let off some steam so I can fully focus on the tournament. But if you want, I'd be more than happy to share my full reasons?" Ragna told Professor Goodwitch in a hidden mocking tone.
"THIS . . . ISN'T . . . . OVER." Professor Goodwitch said in a low tone with a lot of anger behind it before she left. After Professor Goodwitch left, Ragna noticed Ruby and Qrow approach him
"That was so cool Ragna, I know that your weapon was awesome, but you can copy a semblance too." Ruby said in an excited tone causing Ragna to think for a second.
"Yeah, it's a bit surprising." Ragna said surprised at his newfound ability
"No regard for authority, willing to do whatever it takes, and don't care about what people think of you. You know, your my kind of guy Ragna. My names Qrow." Qrow said introducing himself to Ragna
"Nice to meet you, do you know this guy Ruby?" Ragna asked in a curious tone
"Yep, he's my uncle. Who trained me and taught me all I know about fighting." Ruby said with a lot of enthusiasm.
"That's good, I'll catch up to you guys later. I have to get outta here before . . . ." Ragna said before he heard a voice
"RAGNA, are you getting in trouble again?" Celica said causing Ragna to reluctantly look at her
"Hey Sister Celica, now before you get mad I have a good defense. I didn't start the whole thing." Ragna said trying to defend himself
"Hey who's that kiddo?" Qrow asked Ruby in a curious tone
"That's Sister Celica, Ragna's adoptive mother." Ruby answered
"Hmm, he reminds me a lot of myself, not bad. You really are my kind of guy Ragna." Qrow thought to himself

Team BLST vs team CRDL
Team BLST has a lot more variety when it comes to their skills and weapons. Compared to team CRDL which is much more straightforward. When Tao fought Russel in the forest, she was in her natural element which gave her a major advantage over Russel. Bang's training with Baiken and past fights with Kagura has allowed him to be very much prepared for his fight against Dove. Bullet was able to fight against Sky at both long distance and close quarter. For Amane, he was able to quickly and easily predict all of Cardin's attacks and was able to dodge them with ease. He also took advantage of Cardin and his team's lack of coordination which tipped things in their favor even further.
For Amane's statement to Cardin at the end of the match. I noticed that Amane is the type of person to see the good in people and will do what he can to bring them out. I also noticed that he's not the type of person to hold grudges against people unless they are truly irredeemable.
I've seen several fanfics that not only keeps Cardin's bullying intact. But also go the extra mile to try to make him redeem himself. One of the fics I've read pointed out that Cardin is capable of being grateful and pointlessly bashing on Cardin would really serve no purpose to the story and be a waste of time. So I wanted to take a shot at it with Amane's willingness to see the good in him. Also Cardin remembering Hakumen's words is a reference to chapter 13. Since Hakumen was talking to both Jaune and Cardin.
One more thing, as of now Ragna is now able to use the semblance of other people. The first requirement is that he has to absorb their aura when his seal is broken. The second requirement is that the person has to have there semblance unlocked and used within 6 months. Also the third and most challenging requirement is that his aura has to be compatible with the semblance of the individual. Him liking the person who's aura he absorbed HAS NO EFFECT on the compatibility of him using that person's semblance.
For example, Ragna does not like Winter. But his aura is compatible with her glyphs and therefore he can use it. For Ren and Bang, Ragna is on good terms with them, but if he absorbs any of their aura, Ragna will not be able to use either of their semblance because the compatibility is low. Also the aura compatibility cannot change.
When Ragna uses the semblance of other people, the semblance adapts to Ragna's power and aura. For example, in the fight, when he used the glyph. The glyph changed to red and black with his symbol because Ragna is using it. Though when Ragna does use someone else's semblance, his aura is drained much faster than normal. It is also a package deal, because he has the semblances strengths and weaknesses. He also cannot keep the semblance, once he reactivates his seal, Ragna's access to that semblance is gone. Unless he can absorb the specific person's aura again. He also has to have a basic understanding to how that person's semblance works.
This is another one of the semblance improved Semblance I mentioned back in a previous Author's Note. There was no way I was going to improve Jin's semblance and not give the same treatment to Ragna. Several other characters will have their semblances improved upon when the time is right.
