Chapter 71 (S) In Motion PT 2
(The Airship)
Robyn is very furious at this moment due to her current set of circumstances. The circumstances includes her and her team having to follow the orders of the Nobles of Atlus like Obedient soldiers. Which requires the Happy Huntresses to watch over a small group of kids for a project that will benefit the Atlus nobles in the long run. Despite wanting to deny the request, the subtle threats Hazama made towards both the Happy Huntresses, and the long term consequences towards Mantle. Made it clear that Robyn doesn't have a choice but to go aling with the request.
"I don't like this." Joanna told Robyn in a frustrated tone
"Don't like what?" Robyn asked knowing the likely answer
"The fact that we're practically strong-armed into doing a service for Atlus and if we refuse in any way. Either us or Mantle will suffer the consequences." Joanna said voicing her disapproval of the situation.
"I know how you feel, but we're not in a position to do anything about it. For now we just have to appease this little project of theirs. But we still need to be on our guard, if the rumors about Hazama is true in any way. Then he's planning something and we're all dancing to his tune." Robyn said with Joanna agreeing. After the two agreed, they leaned to the side to look at the group and they see team KKMT with May and Fiona, along with Carl.
"Carl, did something happen with you that you want to talk about? Last I heard, you had already left the Academy." Tsubaki said in a concerned tone
"I'm fine Tsubaki, the reason I left the school is due to personal reasons. I apologize for my sudden departure but given the sudden circumstances I was left with too little options." Carl briefly explained to Tsubaki before Mai spoke up
"Now that I think about it, I've never seen you with that large mechanical doll before. Did you make that weapon Carl?" Mai asked making Carl speak up with a slight tone of frustration
"This is my sister, I know you meant no offense by it. But it would please the both of us if you don't refer to her as a weapon." Carl stated while suppressing his anger which Mai felt with her semblance
"Don't you think you're a little too old to be playing with dolls kid?" May stated which frustrated Carl causing him to respond
"I told you that my sister isn't a doll. Please stop making me repeat such simple statements." Carl said slowly losing his patience
"Look kid, I don't know if you've forgotten, but we're about to do some dangerous work. The kind of work that doesn't need a kid who still plays with dolls and calls it his sister." May stated which angered Carl
"I understand the importance of this mission, but I didn't think it needed people who likes to act condescending towards others. If I didn't know any better, I'd think that you're a noble from Atlus." Carl responded causing May to get frustrated
"You know what . . . . ." May said before Fiona spoke up
"Everyone please calm down, Fiona, I now you didn't mean anything by it. But please don't try to provoke him. We need to be able to work together if we're going to have a chance to pull this mission off." Fiona told Carl and May trying to diffuse a tense situation
"Well spoken, its good to see someone with a level head who can diffuse tense situations." Kagura said praising Fiona and frustrated May
"Giving praise that you don't really mean. Your just like a lot of the people in Atlus who are full of themselves." May told Kagura
"Judging from what I'm seeing, I can actually figure you out in a few seconds. I see clear as day that you take your duties very seriously. But you from the way you speak about certain people of Atlus, it sounds as if you not only hate them for their attitude. But you also have a dislike towards them on a personal level. I'm not going to delve into your personal history. But here's a bit of word of advice from me, antagonizing kids doesn't make you any better than them. Besides, I mean everything I say about keeping a level head. Haven't you seen it before when missions goes wrong when people lose their minds?" Kagura said causing May to think for a second
"Alright, I do see your point. But it always angers me to see people who act like most of the nobles from Atlus. I'll admit that not all the nobles are full of themselves. Unfortunately, that is a very small percentage and even less than that are actually doing anything for Mantle. Though looking at you further, your not originally from Atlus, are you?" May said as she looked over Kagura
"Good eye, I'm originally from Ronin-Gai. I was even trained by Lord Tenjo herself." Kagura said in a proud tone which got Fiona's attention
"That's impressive, is Ronin-Gai as advanced as most people say? I don't know a lot of people that's from Ronin-Gai and I'm curious." Fiona said in an impressed tone
"I don't want to mention too much, but let's just say that there are some advances that's giving the SDC a run for its money. For example, even though rechargeable Dust isn't seen too often throughout Remnant. It's a common sight within Ronin-Gai. There's even some special custom Dust that's being worked on." Kagura said which impressed Fiona and even May
"Aren't you giving away information that might be better kept a secret?" May told Kagura
"Not really, this stuff is common knowledge within Ronin-Gai. Since some of the rechargeable Dust has been distributed throughout Remnant, there is no point in keeping it a secret. For the custom dust, I haven't talked about all of the stuff I know. But let's just say that if the wrong kinds of people got ahold of the custom dust, then they would have the confidence to take on Atlus." Kagura said with confidence before Robyn spoke to the group
"We're almost at the drop zone, all of you get ready." Robyn told everyone before the airship started to land
(The landing Zone)
Once the airship landed, it didn't take long for everyone to get out and be fully equipped with their weapons. Team KKMT briefly looked around the area and noticed that aside from being on a snowy terrain and being near a Dust Mine. Nothing really stands out in a visual way. The Happy Huntresses on the other hand knew what to expect given the area and wanted to get the mission over with. Carl on the other hand saw all of this as a means to an end. He was given a brief rundown of the mission they were given but wasn't invested in it. Because he was determined to work towards his own goals. Though he is glad to be doing something good for the people of Mantle. His personal situation took a bigger priority in his mind.
"Alright Kagura, since you're the leader of your team. Your going to be the one in charge of everything for this mission. So don't expect us to take the reins from you if something start to go wrong." Robyn told Kagura
"Got it, I didn't expect anything less." Kagura said before he soke to everyone
"Thanks to the intel we received, we know that there are three entry points to the Dust Mine. The enemies are unknown, but our advantage is the element of surprise. How we utilize this advantage will determine the success or failure of this mission." Kagura said before he continued to explain the plan
"Since we're a group of nine people, we'll split up into groups of three so we can utilize each entry point. Maintain stealth as much as possible so we won't be at risk of being overwhelmed. If we come across any hostages we need to secure their safety. If we come across the person of interest Dr. Merlot. We need to immobilize him for capture immediately. Given the stakes, we won't have the luxury of pulling out if things go wrong. But as long as we move and fight smart, then everything will be fine. Remember, save the hostages, incapacitate the majority of their forces, and apprehend the person of interest Dr. Merlot. Are there any questions or concerns?" Kagura asked causing Joanna to speak up
"Since you said a group of nine, that means you included us. But don't forget that we're here to supervise you guys." Robyn stated causing Kagura to respond
"I'm aware of that fact Robyn. But your role also requires you and your team to assist us when necessary. I doubt you'll cut corners with your supervision, because Mantle will benefit from the chance for the attacks to stop as well. It won't be fair to us or the innocents of Mantle if you screw us over because of your grudge. I've done my research and I know how you dislike certain people of Atlus, a sentiment I agree with." Kagura explained causing Robyn to smirk
"Hehehe well said, so how will we be split up?" Robyn asked
"I've already thought of that, me, Mai, and May will be one team. Tsubaki, Hibiki, and Fiona will be another group. While Robyn and Joanna will be with Carl. Remember, maintain stealth and don't give the enemy a chance to contact their buddies. We don't their full numbers and I would rather not do anything reckless." Kagura finished explaining the plan
"Impressive, your plan was amazingly detailed and accounted for certain possibilities. But I can't help but feel like I'm being singled out because of my youth." Carl commented to Kagura causing him to speak up
"Trust me Carl, you weren't being singled out but it was necessary for two of the Huntresses to be with you. Me and my team have developed a good coordination with each other and know how to work together on the field. While I won't deny your strength, we don't know what your capable of in a fight and your sister can only do but so much. Your unknown strengths and weaknesses is a wildcard that can make or break this mission. Not to mention that you don't have as much experience compared to the rest of us. So it will give me a peace of mind for people with more experience to accompany you. They made it clear they won't baby you, if anything I gave you the strictest Huntresses of the group." Kagura explained to Carl causing the young boy to nod in agreement
"Not bad, I guess he isn't a shameless flirt." May muttered to Robyn and Joanna
"What do you mean?" Robyn asked
"Kagura was able to quickly utilize a plan and figure out the idea team while taking into account what all of us can do. While even going further and explain to the kid why he has more Huntresses with him without patronizing him. He even went the extra mile and acknowledge the doll as the kid's sister." May explained to Robyn.
"Does that kid really see that doll as his sister?" Robyn said in a tone with some disbelief
"Yeah, either that kid has some problems or there is more to that doll than we know. Whatever the reason, it doesn't concern us so let's just get this over with." Robyn said before they all started to split up
(Dust Mine entry 1)
After a few minutes of walking, the first group which consists of Kagura, Mai, and May made it to one of the entry points. The group saw that a small group of five people were guarding the entrance and were fully focused to the task. When May saw the group, she figured that a quick use of her semblance would be enough for them to sneak past them. But when May looked at Kagura, she saw him make a smirk.
"I see that smirk Kagura, so let's see what you do with this set-up." May told Kagura
"Looking forward to showing you what I can do." Kagura said before he brought out a strong dust crystal that May hasn't seen before. After Kagura brought out the dust crystal, he dug his sword to the ground. After doing that, he proceeded to throw the strange dust crystal to the group.
A brief second later, all of the equipment the group had were gathered to the strange dust crystal which caught the group off guard. Before any of them could do anything further, Kagura jumped down in front of them and proceeded to attack each of them. The group tried to attack Kagura, but the young man proved to be much faster and more skilled than any of them expected. Kagura was able to land several punches and kicks against each individual. While also making sure they don't use their communication equipment to call for backup. In the span of a few minutes, Kagura was able to knock out the small group and after doing so. He used the device in his bracelet to bring back his sword. After doing so, both May and Mai approached Kagura.
"So how was that brief performance? I never miss a day of training and I'm much stronger than I look." Kagura said to the ladies in a confident tone
"Alright, I suppose what you did in the span of a few seconds is impressive. But what kind of Dust is that? I haven't seen anything like that before." May said as Kagura picked up the dust
"This is one of the Custom Dust I mentioned earlier. This one is the polarity Dust, as you can guess it's a magnetic Dust." Kagura told May
"Using something like that during the tournament would've gotten you a lot of attention. Which makes me wonder why you didn't use it." May told Kagura
"I didn't get the chance to use it, besides if I did the attention to me and Ronin-Gai would've caused some problems in the long run. So I decided that it was best to use it during missions like these. I have three different kinds and they are rechargeable." Kagura explained to May
"Makes sense, I have a feeling that certain people throughout Remnant would love to get their hands on Dust that has a similar effect to a semblance, especially General Ironwood." May commented
"Which is why I only have three Custom Dust and I use them during missions where the risk of leaks are low. Besides, a lot of the custom dust are in the experiment phases and the last thing Lord Tenjo needs are more people badgering her for custom Dust." Kagura responded
"Oh really, what makes you think I or the rest of my team won't leak anything?" May asked Kagura
"Because you and your team look like you understand the necessity for secrecy and trust. Besides, I didn't mention everything I know." Kagura said before him and the group proceeded to go deeper into the Dust Mine.
(Dust Mine Entry 2)
Once the second group dealt with the guards guarding the second entry. Tsubaki, Hibki, and Fiona made their way even further even deeper in the mines. The group spent a good deal of time walking further into the Dust mine while on guard for anyone. While they were together, Fiona spent some time observing the two and was able to quickly notice that while the two are opposites in certain ways. They work exceptionally well together and compliment each other's strengths and weaknesses.
"The both of you work amazingly well together. If I didn't know it, I would think that you guys are second years if not third." Fiona said in an impressed tone
"Thank you for the praise, ever since the unfortunate events at Beacon. We've spent a lot of time training to get stronger. Though I admit we have a long way to go, I am very much pleased with our progress and growth. Though there is a part of me that wished we could have spent time to get some new mission clothes. At the very least, this is a chance for us to do some good for the Kingdoms." Tsubaki said as they were going
"Now that I think about it, you don't seem like most people I've met in Mantle. Are the both of you from Atlus by chance?" Fiona asked in a curious tone.
"Of course, me, Tsubaki, and Mai are from a noble house in Atlus. Our team leader Kagura is the only ones who's not a noble he's here from Ronin-Gai." Hibiki briefly answered Fiona
"I'm sorry if this sounds rude, but from the brief moment I've known all of you. You don't seem like the nobles from Atlus." Fiona commented
"I understand your surprise, most of the nobles from Atlus have unpleasant personalities. A trait that they unfortunately pass on to their children." Hibiki told Fiona before Tsubaki spoke up
"A trait that I've seen too many times, especially towards my friend Makoto. She is a Faunus and a lot of people treats her terribly." Tsubaki told Fiona
"I can relate, thankfully Robyn and the rest of my team continued to have my back. Treating the Faunus terribly is something that's common with a lot of people, not just the nobles of Atlus. I've heard that Ronin-Gai has a zero-tolerance policy against racism of all kinds. Does Kagura treat people fairly and equally? I haven't been to Ronin-Gai and I don't know anyone from there, so I'm a bit curious." Fiona told the two before Hibiki spoke up
"For all of Kagura's faults, he does treat everyone he comes across fairly and equally. He never looks down on anyone and even goes as far as to give people the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, he is very flirtatious with women of all kinds. Ironically, he does mean what he says and treats women with respect. But if he has an opportunity to flirt or peep, or even hit on a woman, he will take it without hesitation. I have a great deal of respect for him as an leader and an individual. But he'll be even better if his flirtatious attitude could be kept under control." Hibiki said before Tsubaki signaled them to stop talking and slow down.
When the small group looked further, they see a group of armed people overlooking the miners mining the Dust. It's clear to the group that the miners are working against their will and realizes that they need to handle this carefully. After fully taking in the surroundings and figured out a plan of action. Tsubaki and Hibiki looked at each other with a nod.
"If we work fast, I can use my semblance to . . ." Fiona said before she was interrupted by Hibiki
"I'm sorry Fiona, but this current set up is very ideal for us." Hibiki said before Tsubaki started to take action
Once Tsubaki reached out her hand, her body started to have a faint glow and after a brief second. The lights near the guards started to flicker before it went out completely. Once the light was out completely, Hibiki proceeded to use a combination of his speed and semblance to deal with each of the guards in quick succession before any of them made a loud noise and alerted the others. The Miners were all confused as well but didn't make any noise either.
Thanks to her traits as a Faunus, Fiona was able to see everything that was going on in the dark. She was very impressed with both Tsubaki's and Hibiki's stealth capabilities and immediate use of their surroundings while also being aware of the innocent miners and making sure not to hurt them. After the lights returned, each of the guards were laying down and beaten.
"Don't worry, there is a special non-lethal toxin in my sword. There still alive but they'll be unconscious for a few hours. I was trained to subdue my targets non-lethally and was taught to kill only as a last resort." Hibiki told Fiona
"Which means when they wake up. We can all imprison you with the others that try to resist us." A Faunus guard said with a rifle pointed at some of the miners.
"Good thing I came back from checking on the others after you guys were finished. Thanks to my friendly trait of being able to see in the dark, I know what you all can do. Now with you guys, the Doctor will have more people for his experiments. Now toss your weapons near me, unless you want these walls to be decorated with blood." The guard said before the three of them tossed their weapons close to the guard
"See what happens with a little cooperation." The guard said causing Hibiki to speak up
"What do you all plan to do with this Dust?" Hibiki asked while Tsubaki was controlling her weapon and made it glow
"I don't need to tell you those details. Though once the Doctor is ready, you'll find out soon enough." The Guard said, though before he could do anything further. Tsubaki's weapon fired a small and unnoticeable energy shot at a nearby thunder dust and set it off. Once the thunder Dust went off, it stunned the guard and gave Hibiki a chance to attack the guard and knock him unconscious.
"I was careless, if I'd have known about the possibility of nearby Faunus. I would have been more on guard about the enemy being able to use night vision." Hibiki said as he was getting his weapon and gave Tsubaki and Fiona theirs.
"It's fine, this was essentially a coincidence that wasn't in our favor. But it wasn't for nothing, because this does confirm that a doctor is here. But I am a bit disturbed at the mention of experiments." Tsubaki said in a concerned tone
"I agree, but we can't too much time about what was said. This does confirm what Captain Hazama said about Dr. Merlot being here. Since the Hostages are safe, we can keep going." Fiona said before she spoke to one of the Miners.
"Do you know anything about what's going on here?" Fiona asked
"We don't know who these people are. We were just mining the Dust when these strange people came. They threatened all of us and said that if we don't continue to mine Dust. They will go after our families. They already got some people from Mantle. Some of them were killed in front of us. While others went deeper in the mines, never to be seen or heard." One of the Miners said
"Has the name Dr. Merlot been mentioned at all?" Fiona asked further
"It was mentioned a couple of times, but I don't know who that person is." The Miner said causing Fiona to look at her allies
"This confirms it, Dr. Merlot is here in the Dust mines. We have to let the others know." Fiona said before she used her Scroll to try to call the others. Only for a signal to not get through
"My weapon Izayoi is able to disrupt energy, which includes electronic signals. I activated it when we entered to make sure these guys don't contact each other by radio. Unfortunately, it affects us as well." Tsubaki told Fiona
"Which is likely preventing these guys from suspecting their entry guard has been knocked out. We'll stick to the plan and meet at the back of the Mine." Fiona said before she looked at the Miners.
"All of you need to go the entrance to the Dust Mines. Those of you that can move, help those who can't and get to the entrance. Help will arrive soon but you can't run off." Fiona told the Miners
"Thank you, we owe you all our lives." One of the other Miners said
"We were only doing our duties, now please go to the entrance where its safe. If you see more of these strange people coming before you see any of us or our allies. Then run as fast as you can from here." Tsubaki instructed which the Miners did with no complaints
"Humble, kind, and determined to help others. If more of the Atlus nobles were more like you Tsubaki. Then I have no doubt that the rest of the Happy Huntresses will be on better terms with most of Atlus. Which will be much easier for us the people of Mantle to get the help they need. Even improvements to Quality of Life will be possible." Fiona said as the group went further in
(The deeper parts of the Dust Mines)
After quickly dealing with the guards thanks to Carl's puppets. Carl, Robyn, and Joanna proceeded to go even deeper within the mines. While the three of them were traveling together, there was nothing but silence between the three of them. Part of it is because they have nothing to say to each other. But mostly its because they each want to get the mission over with. Sensing some tension between the three of them. Robyn started to break the ice and spoke first.
"So, where did you get the doll?" Robyn asked getting a quick glare from Carl
"Robyn, what are you . . . ." Joanna asked before Robyn quickly spoke up
"What, a kid that can use puppets like little soldiers and is still attached to a large mechanical doll. You can't tell me that your not even the least bit curious about any of this." Robyn briefly explained to Joanna
"Miss Hill, I appreciate you trying to break the ice. But I am getting really frustrated at having to correct people when they refer to my sister as a doll." Carl said suppressing his frustration
"Listen kid, a hobby I can understand. But in case you didn't notice, we are in the middle of a mission. Which means your doing the work of a Huntsman and you have no room to be attached to things like an oversized doll. Having such an attachment will make you nothing more than dead weight and a waste of our time. Maybe you should've stayed in Atlus or Mantle and played with the other kids who never outgrew their toys." Joanna stated to Carl making the young man angry
"Since you were kind enough to give me some advice. Then allow this kid to return the favor. Judging by everything I've witnessed of you so far. I see that your fiercely loyal to Miss Hill. But I also see that you have the tendency to be impulsive with both your words and actions. Such impulsiveness will do more harm than good and if you don't watch yourself. Then I predict that in the future, your impulsiveness will be a detriment to your loyalty to Miss. Hill." Carl explained which angered Joanna
"You little . . ." Joanna angrily said before Nirvana quickly stood in front of her with her claws pointed at Joanna's neck. Sensing an even more tense situation than before. Robyn thought of an idea and stood between the two.
"You know what you two, I have an idea that will let us settle this." Robyn said before she reached out her hand towards Carl and made Joanna smirk.
"All you need to do is take my hand and answer a few questions. I know its not essential to our current mission. But this will be a good way to settle this once and for all." Robyn told Carl
"Alright, if this means we can move on from such matters. I'll humor your little scheme Miss Hill." Carl said as grabbed Robyn's hand and her aura started to glow on her hands which indicates the use of Robyn's semblance
"What is your name?" Robyn asked
"My name is Carl Clover." Carl answered causing Robyn's hand to glow green
"Second question, what is your sister's name?" Robyn asked further
"My sister's name is Ada Clover." Carl answered causing Robyn's hand to glow green again
"Now for the moment of truth, is the mechanical doll that we've been referring too. Your sister Ada Clover, who is related to you by flesh and blood?" Robyn asked
"Yes she is." Carl answered causing Robyn's hand to glow green again which surprised both Robyn and Joanna
"How . . . how can this be?" Robyn asked in a surprised tone
"He probably believes his own lie that it's the truth to him." Joanna said in a slightly frustrated tone
"Let's try a different approach, did you ever buy the doll that we've been referring to from any store? Or was it in any way created and/or given to you?" Robyn asked Carl even further
"No, this is my sister, she was not bought from any store and she wasn't created. She is my sister without question." Carl said slowly getting angry while Robyn's hand glowed green once again causing the Huntress to let go.
"You've been telling the truth." Robyn said in a surprised tone before she looked at Nirvana
"One last thing, have your sister reach out her hand. I need to test something and if I can confirm it. There will be no question to this." Robyn requested to Carl
"I will humor you once again but this is truly pushing it. Ada, can you do as she requested and raise your hand towards Miss Hill please." Carl asked in which Nirvana did so. Once Nirvana's hand was raised, Robyn proceeded grab Nirvana's hand. A brief moment after doing so, Robyn's hand started to glow which surprised her and Joanna. Shortly after seeing this. Robyn quickly let go of it and found herself with more questions than answers
"I hope your finally humored with this pointless inquiry of yours. We must now proceed further with haste. Seeing as though we've wasted a good deal of time with these childish antics of yours." Carl said causing Joanna to step forward before in frustration before Robyn stopped her and spoke
"Your right, I'm sorry for doubting you. We should go further into the Mine. Oh and just call me Robyn, I'm not old enough to be called Miss." Robyn said signaling Carl to walk further ahead. Once Carl was ahead of the group, Robyn and Joanna spoke to each other in a low tone.
"Your semblance only works on living people. So there is no way that your semblance would be activated for a doll. I still think he believed his own lies." Joanna told Robyn
"We can't ignore the fact that my semblance activated for that doll. If he believed his own lies, my semblance would have picked up on it. So either he is a very good liar, or there is something going on with that kid that none of us knows about. Call it a hunch, but I have a feeling that its an aura weapon." Robyn told Joanna
"Are you certain Robyn?" Joanna asked in a surprised tone
"It is a hunch after all and call me crazy, but I think the kid is telling the truth. But if that thing really is an aura weapon, then that raises a lot more questions. The kind of questions I can't ignore in good consciousness." Robyn said as her and Joanna caught up to Carl
(A different section of the Dust Mines)
After dealing with a few guards along the way. Kagura, Mai, and May continued to go further down the Mine. As they were walking, May found herself deep in thought about a few things. The main subject that is occupying May's mind is the mention of team KKMT being at the Fundraiser. When May thought about it further, she does recall hearing about an individual who went through the same transition she did and it still occupied her mind.
"Listen, um . . . . there's something I'm curious about. But if I'm overstepping my bounds then I'll be quiet. But I've heard that your team was involved in a commotion at the Fundraiser. I've heard some things from word of mouth, but I don't know the full details. So what exactly happened at the Fundraiser for you and your team to be involved in it?" May asked in a concerned and curious tone before Mai spoke up
"Some of the Nobles were looking down on Vale for the things they lacked and said that their carelessness played a role in its fall. A few things happened after that and my transition was bluntly exposed to everyone. While Tsubaki's family situation was stated to a lot of people as well." Mai told May recounting the painful memory before she continued
"Because there was no definite proof of what was said about Tsubaki's family it comes off as a baseless rumor. But a lot of people are making fun of her every chance they get. We tried to see if Tsubaki wanted to talk about. But she didn't want to talk about it and continued to shrug it off." Mai said before she spoke further
"As for me, well anyone who looks into my family will see my transition easily. Which means that a lot of people started to insult me everyday. Tsubaki gets insulted as well, but with me its much more direct and I've been called a lot of names. Some of them includes names such as freak, monster, and abomination. My team helped me through those tough times and I'm grateful for that." Mai finished explaining to May
"I understand that your team supported you, but what about your family?" May asked in a concerned tone
"The support with family is a bit more complicated. My mom stood by me the entire time and even comforted me when word spread about my transition. But my father on the other hand . . ." Mai said before May spoke up
"Let me guess, your father disowned you because he disapproved your transition." May guessed to Mai
"No, in fact my father didn't really care. He basically said that as long as I don't show weakness and stick to my career as a Huntress. I can be whatever I want. In his own way he does love me, but he hates it when I display weakness of any kind. When he heard of how I froze up when my secret was announced at the Fundraiser. He was furious at the fact that I was so disturbed by the statement. I understand what he means by not letting what other people say bother me. But not to get any emotional support from him does bother me sometimes. He does accept me for who I am, but he also wants me to be as strong as him." Mai explained to May
"Mai, I know how you feel, it's a long and complicated story for me as well. But let's just say that the Merigolds refused to acknowledge me as their son because of my choices. So I had to personally make sure that I will never be their daughter. So if you want to talk about it, just let me know and I'll be available." May told Mai
"Thank you, it's nice to meet someone who I can relate to regarding my transition." Mai said
"Listen ladies, I see that you both are dealing with some deep personal issues. So allow me to help remedy your pain." Kagura said before he opened up his vest and revealed his chest to May and Mai with a smirk
"Come to my chest, bare your bodies to me and I shall embrace you both. Bare your chests to my own, and I shall bare your pain in return." Kagura said in a smooth and confident tone causing May to look at in in slight frustration
"You know, I admit your skilled. But your shameless flirtatious attitude is getting on my last . . . . ." May said before Kagura stopped her and positioned his hand in a frame
"That piercing look, and that calm demeanor. I originally graded you as a C, but your fierceness upgrade you to a B. Keep that fierce beauty, and change up your style a bit. Your natural charms will surely come out." Kagura said before Mai hit him upside the head.
"We need to keep going, I sense a few people up ahead." Mai said before she dragged Kagura away
"He called me a fierce beauty, but I don't dress the way I do to impress guys like him. But still, it is nice to know that he accepts me. Maybe changing my hairstyle and clothes wouldn't be so a bad. Wait what am I thinking, I have to keep going with the mission." May said to herself with a flustered look
(The deep sections of the Mines)
Once Carl and the other two Huntresses made it to the deeper sections of the Dust Mines. They see several armed people overlooking the miners while they mined the Dust. Among the armed people is a large mech that aimed its gun at the miners. When the trio saw this, they realized that this needed to be done carefully or else the Miners will get caught in the crossfire.
"Alright we need to be smart about this. Since its only us three, we need to find a way to lure some of the guards away from the miners. If May and Fiona were here, we could handle this with no problems." Robyn said before Carl spoke up
"If this is what we have to deal with, then I can make short work of this. Just you two stay here and wait for me." Carl said before he revealed several puppets and they scattered around the area. After the puppets left Carl, he started to walk towards the group and before he went too far. He raised his hand towards the large mech and his body started to glow purple aura.
"Mech, follow my will." Carl commanded before the large mech glowed as well which surprised everyone nearby
"What the . . ." One of the guards said before the mech smacked away some of the armed guards.
After the mech knocked away some of the armed guards. The other guards that weren't attacked quickly noticed Carl and proceeded to shoot at him. Before the bullets could reach Carl. Nirvana teleported in front of Carl and protected him with its body. While Nirvana protected Carl. The Puppets jumped down from the walls and latched on to the guards. Once the puppets grabbed the Guards, they released a strong electrical surge and the armed guards fell unconscious.
Eventually the mech pilot was able to regain some control of the mech and was able to fire at the miners. Fortunately there were some nearby puppets that jumped on the miners and produced a barrier to protect the miners. After the miners were protected, each of the puppets jumped on specific spots of the mech and released electrical surges and was able to shut down the mech. The pilot was able to get out of the mech and tried to shoot Carl. Only for Nirvana to quickly jump towards the pilot and knocked him unconscious. After all the threats were dealt with, Robyn and Joanna approached Carl.
"You did pretty good Carl, but I wish you could have at least clued us in on what you were planning. It's clear that you knew what you were doing, but how you handled it was extremely reckless. Especially since the hostages are involved and one wrong move would get them killed." Robyn lectured to Carl
"I'm sorry Robyn, truth be told I'm not used to dealing with people other than my sister this past year. In the future I'll be more careful and more open with my plans with my allies." Carl told Robyn
"All of you, leave these mines and wait at the entrance. We'll make sur you all return to your families in Mantle." Joanna said which the miners agreed to easily and left the mines. Shortly after the miners left, both team and met up with the group.
"Robyn, we were able to deal with the guards on our way here and rescued the Miners. Tsubaki and Hibiki did a good job." Fiona cheerfully told Robyn
"Kagura and Mai did good as well. They handled various situations like any Huntsman. I admit I was doubtful of Kagura's leadership capabilities. But I'm happy to say that I was proven wrong." May told Robyn
"The kid did fine as well, though he has a few things to improve on. Given his age and lack of experience compared to us. He did exceptionally well." Robyn told her team before speaking further
"Is there any word on Dr, Merlot?" Robyn asked
"The only thing we know for certain is that he is here. Though it is very uncertain if that is still the case. Even though Tsubaki is preventing radio contact, it is possible for Dr. Merlot to notice that something is wrong." Hibiki told Robyn
"We could spend time exploring this Dust Mine. But the Doctor most likely have been here much longer and knows the routes to take to avoid us. He may have created an escape route for situations such as this." Robyn said before Carl walked towards a wall and started to touch it
"Carl, is there something wrong?" Tsubaki asked causing everyone to look at Carl
"This wall is a door, I feel some kind of technology here. Door, open." Carl said making his body glow and the wall started to move. A few seconds later, once the wall moved, a door was exposed and shortly afterwards, the large doors opened up and revealed a hallway.
"Dr. Merlot is likely in there, but this wasn't in the Dust Mine layout that Captain Hazama gave us." Fiona said
"All of us are going to have to go in there. I know it's a bit much, but given that someone went out of there way to hide this. Means that something big is hidden and we need all hands on deck." Kagura said
"I hate to say it but your right. I don't like walking into an unknown situation with students having our back. But we can't leave something like this up to chance. Remember, to stick together and if it starts to look dicey. Retreat and make sure the Miners get home." Robyn said before everyone started to cautiously go down the hallway. As the group went own the Hallway, they started to notice the layout to be more constructed. As if it's a lab.
(The Lab)
The group walked down the hallway of the lab while wielding there weapons and on guard for anything that can happen. As they were walking, the area had some of the lights on but wasn't very brightly lit. The group was cautious and also mentally questioned how something like this could be made without anyone from Mantle or Atlus knowing about it. As they walked further, they were able to make it to a large open space and Mai started to have a headache.
"Mai, are you OK, is there something wrong?" Tsubaki asked in a worried tone
"I feel a lot of sadness and despair in this place. But it's not as lively as I usually sense. It's a strong lingering sensation. A lot of people have died here, but I don't know why." Mai told Tsubaki
"OH MY GOD!" Fiona yelled quickly getting the attention Robyn and the others.
"What's wrong Fiona?" Robyn asked in a concerned tone
"I see a lot of bodies laying down on the tables. But the bodies are of kids on the tables." Fiona said barely able to hold back her tears before everyone turned their light towards where Fiona was looking at and realized what she saw.
"These kids have been experimented on." May said in a mix of shock and rage
"It's not just the kids, there are several adults here too." Kagura said out loud while pointing the light towards more bodies and shocked everyone even further. When Robyn looked further, she started to have shocked and angry look on her face
"I recognize some these faces, I've seen a lot of missing people reports and investigated them. They are the people who disappeared the past few months." Robyn said before May spoke up
"I recognize some of these faces as well. Some of them are homeless people who have nowhere else to go. Wait a second . . . ." May said before she mustered up the strength to look at the dead kids on the test tables. When she looked further, she became visibly angry
"These kids, I thought they looked familiar. These are the kids I would see on the streets that has nowhere else to go." May said while looking at them
"What kind of a person would do this to people?" Mai asked out loud
"Only a monster that's worse than the Grimm would do this." Joanna said while looking at the disturbing sight that surrounds them
"We need to keep going." Carl said getting everyone's attention before he spoke further
"If Dr. Merlot is further in this Lab. Then we need to keep going and catch up to him." Carl said to the group
"Your right, come on everyone we've lost some time being here." Kagura said before him and Carl started to walk before Tsubaki spoke up
"We can't just leave the bodies here like this. We need to do something for them." Tsubaki said in a worried tone
"If we stay here in shock, we won't really be doing anything for them. If that Doctor is here, then he knows who is behind this. Once he's captured, stuff like this won't happen again to other people." Carl told Tsubaki
"Their right, we need to catch up to that man. So that this won't happen to anyone else." Robyn said causing everyone to keep going
"Tsubaki, I know it seems cold. But we have to make sure their suffering isn't for nothing. Trust me, I know exactly how you feel about this." Carl said with anger in his eyes

"Father, what did you do to my sister?!" A young boy yelled with a great deal of panic in his voice
"A Carl, you are witness to an experiment. That shall pave the way to my greatest creation." Relius told Carl while standing over the table
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ADA? STOP FATHER, CAN'T YOU SEE SHE'S NOT MOVING!?" Carl yelled trying to pull away his father with a good deal of his strength
"My son, I know that this is hard on you. But for the sake of my experiment, this is a necessity. Once the results bare fruit, you shall see the depth of my ambition. While fully understanding why I've done what I did." Relius told Carl in an empty tone
"MY SISTER, STOP HURTING MY SISTER! GIVE BACK ADA!" Carl yelled before the memory faded
(The Labs)
Once Carl stopped thinking about the past, he quickly realized that all of them are in a large room. When they looked around, they quickly saw that that they were in a large room that has several dark black and red fluid tubes on the wall. Everyone was confused by the room's layout and when they looked further, they saw a large window. After the window was noticed, the lights came on and they noticed a short-haired female wearing light armor while standing before them with several dust crystals on her body. After seeing the figure a voice spoke over the speaker.
"Welcome, Huntsman and Huntresses. Though your presence is a surprise despite being unwelcomed. I am pleased to see you all are in one piece. This presents an opportunity that doesn't come often. What do you think of this humble lab?" Dr. Merlot asked which angered the group
"This isn't a lab, its an abomination!" Joanna yelled making the Doctor speak
"This lab, is one of many labs that has a deep history among Remnant. These labs are called the Murakumo Labs and they have been established longer than you think." Dr. Merlot told Joanna
"The Murakumo Labs, and they've been around for years." Fiona said surprised at what she's learned
"Indeed, these Murakumo labs are a grand ambition for Remnant. So that if the world is ever threatened by anything like the beast. The Kingdoms will have the ultimate warriors and victory will be on our terms." Dr. Merlot said to the group
"To do these inhumane experiments on man, women, and children. With the insane excuse that its for the sake of the Kingdoms. Your not a Doctor, your not even a human being. YOU'RE THE REAL MONSTER HERE!" Robyn yelled with a great deal of rage
"Monsters are the ones who show up on Remnant and claim the title of the Six Heroes. Who refuse to share there power and knowledge with the rest of the world. We are merely ensuring the future of the Kingdoms. You see these experiments as inhumane, but for the sake of a prosperous future, sacrifices must be made. The unit that stands before you, is proof of our progress. Murakumo Unit D4, kill them." Dr. Merlot commanded before the Murakumo Unit proceeded to attack them with her dual lances
When the Murakumo Unit leaped towards the group. Both Kagura and Joanna blocked each of the lance attacks. Robyn proceeded to fire at the D4 with her crossbows. Only for D4 to avoid each of the arrows. After avoiding the arrows, D4 proceeded to go towards Robyn and tried to attack her. Fortunately, Robyn was able to avoid the lance attacks and after a brief second. Robyn disappeared which surprised D4 before quickly turning around and seeing Robyn appear but with May attempting to attack her.
Seeing May attempt to attack her, one of the yellow Dust crystals started to glow and D4 hit May with an electric blast. May was able to block the thunderblast, but she was pushed back as a result. Tsubaki proceeded to fight against D4 with a movement combination of her sword and shield. D4 used both of her lances to both block and parry each of Tsubaki's attacks. Eventually, D4 was able kick Tsubaki away and proceeded to blast Tsubaki with thunder.
Tsubaki on the other hand, was able to easily block the thunderblast and while doing so started to glow. After a few seconds, Tsubaki released a burst of energy and created several spears of light. Each of the light spears were launched at D4 and she proceeded to quickly dodge each of the light spears. Eventually, D4 found herself jumping high into the air and was saw that Tsubaki used her light energy to do a shield bash towards D4. Tsubaki was able to ram into D4 with a light energy bash.
Despite being hit, D4 was able to quickly recover and absorbed the blue dust and fired several ice blasts at Tsubaki. Tsubaki was able to quickly dodge some of the ice blasts but her feet was hit and was frozen. Seeing this D4 was able to quickly kick her away but found herself blocking Joanna's attack. D4 and Joanna spent a few seconds fighting against each other. Unfortunately, D4 found an opening and was able to both disarm Joanna and kicked her away. After Joanna was kicked away, D4 was able to grab her crossbow staff and threw it at her.
Before the crossbow staff could reach Joanna, Fiona used her semblance to dematerialize and absorb Joanna's weapon. After doing so, Fiona materialized the crossbow staff and Joanna was able to grab it and the two proceeded to fire at D4. Reacting quickly, D4 blocked each of the shots and a second later, quickly blocked Hibiki's sword attack. Due to the attack being blocked, Hibiki was knocked back and found himself moving towards the shadows and blended into it.
D4 quickly figured out what to do and absorbed the yellow dust again and created a strong burst of light. The light got rid of the shadows and as a result, Hibiki was forced to get out of the shadows and became exhausted. Seeing an opening, D4 made another thunderblast and aimed it towards Hibiki. Only for Kagura to block the thunderblast and counter by throwing several razor winds at her. D4 quickly destroyed each of the razor winds, but this gave Nirvana a chance to attack her. D4 blocked a good number of Nirvana's punches but was knocked back by each punch and realized that the mechanical doll was much stronger than it looked. While D4 was dealing with Nirvana, Kagura went towards Fiona. Who was tending to her team.
"Fiona, I saw what you did with that staff earlier. Is there a limit to your ability?" Kagura asked
"There are some limits, do you have a plan in mind?" Fiona asked
"That girl is able to absorb the energy of Dust Crystals." Kagura told Fiona
"But isn't that common in certain cases?" May said overhearing the two.
"True but the way she used the Dust energy is much stronger and more potent than usual. Her base strength is already strong, but if we can do something about the Dust she absorbs. Then subduing her non-lethally will be much easier." Kagura said with the Huntresses agreeing
"May use your semblance to keep me concealed. We have to act fast before she figures out what we're doing. Kagura, you and the others have to keep her busy." Fiona said before May used her semblance to conceal the both of them and Kagura proceeded to fight D4.
"Did you figure out a plan to fight her?" Robyn asked Kagura while shooting at D4
"Yeah, but we need to keep her busy." Kagura responded
"Easier said than done." Robyn commented before the two dodged another attack.
After the two dodged the attack, Mai used her chain spear to keep D4 at a distance. This worked for a few seconds, until D4 dodged a chain spear attack and proceeded to get closer to Mai and tried to attack her. Fortunately, Mai was able to hold her own against D4 with her spear and was able to fight against D4. After blocking a few more lance attacks, Mai jumped out of the way, which allowed Nirvana to deliver a strong punch and knocked back D4.
Before D4 could retaliate, she noticed the Dust Crystals attached to her armor is quickly disappearing. She tried to attack the person responsible, but her movements were too slow and she lost more strength and energy as more of the dust crystals continued to disappear. After a few seconds, D4 fell to the ground and lied motionless. When everyone looked at her even further, they had another look of horror when they noticed that she wasn't breathing.
"Do not fret, the subject was quite frankly living on borrowed time. The fact that she held her own remarkably well against all of you is worth a great deal of praise. Though it is regrettable that her life support system is heavily reliant on Dust. This still produced informative results." Dr. Merlot told the group
"THE HELL WITH YOUR PRAISE! THERE ARE THINGS NOBODY SHOULD DO! HOW CAN YOU AND THE MONSTERS IN CHARGE OF THIS PLACE USE AND DISCARD LIVES LIKE THIS!?" Robyn furiously yelled at Dr. Merlot
"If the Kingdoms of Remnant is to thrive and prosper. Sacrifices need to be made for the greater good. How is this any different from children dying at the Academies or the Grimm and bandits killing people because Villages don't have the money to hire the Huntsman who needs their protection. The ones in charge of the Murakumo Labs are doing whatever it takes. At the very least that young boy should understand." Dr. Merlot said causing everyone to look at Carl with confusion and concern
"What are you talking about?" Carl said in a confused tone but is curious about the statement as well
"You're the son of the Puppeteer, his brilliance shall be one of the driving forces to ensure a prosperous age. Deep within your eyes, I see the same brilliance that is also within his own, despite his mask." Dr. Merlot said causing Carl to get visibly angry
"Shut up." Carl said trying to suppress his rage
"Carl, what happened?" Tsubaki asked in a worried tone
"In time, I see that you shall walk a path similar to your father's. You have the same potential as him. Who knows, you might even surpass your father and take his ideologies to heights unheard of." Dr. Merlot said
"I'm not . . . . ." Carl muttered while his body flashed an energy that is different from aura while also remembering the day that he shall never forget
"I'M NOTHING LIKE MY FATHER!" Carl yelled before he released a surge of power that was felt by everyone
"ADA!" Carl yelled causing Ada to leap towards a window. Before Nirvana got close, it was blocked by a barrier made by hard-light energy dust.
"It appears that our meeting has come to an end. I'm looking forward to seeing how you escape from this." Dr, Merlot said before he pressed a button and the tubes filled with dark black, red liquids was destroyed and the liquid fell to the ground. A second later, the Grimm started to be formed. When the group saw the Grimm, they realized that they are surrounded by the Grimm and are low on aura and strength.
"There's too many of them, we need to do something now." May said as she looked around
"Everyone, stay close to me. Ada will save us!" Carl yelled making everyone come closer to him
"I hope you know what your doing kid." Robyn said as her and everyone huddled together. Shortly afterwards, Nirvana created a powerful barrier that the group was in and above its head. A countdown was seen, the moment the countdown ended. A large and powerful explosion occurred and all the Grimm in the area was destroyed. Though Dr. Merlot got away, everyone was safe.
"You saved us, thank you." Fiona said in a grateful tone
"It's fine." Carl said before he went to Nirvana
"That doctor had an escape route planned out, I hate to say it but he gave us the slip. Let's go back to the entrance, the less I see of this place the better." Robyn said with everyone agreeing before leaving. Before they all left, Mai noticed sensed a source of mixed emotions and went to the source. When she arrived, she saw a picture on the ground and proceeded to pick it up.
"What are you doing over here Mai?" Tsubaki asked after noticing Mai slightly away from the group
"I sensed a strong flow of emotions from this room. I thought someone could still be alive but all I have is this picture. It's old and torn but I can barely make it out." Mai said before she showed Tsubaki the picture. Once the picture was seen, its of a pregnant woman with a set of kids. The older kid had a rough look about him but has kind eyes. The twins look similar and very timid. While the youngest one is fast asleep and comfortable.
"The twins, I can't explain it, but it feels like I've seen those two before. But I don't know how." Tsubaki told Mai
"I feel the same way, but this isn't the time to talk about this. We need to get out of this lb soon." Mai told Tsubaki
"I agree, the sooner we leave this place the better." Tsubaki said before they caught up to the group
(Outside the Mines)
While the group was leaving the Dust Mine. Robyn was disturbed by what she has seen in the Murakumo Labs. The more Robyn thought about it, the more she's ashamed of the fact that this was happening practically under her nose. The fact that the bodies her and everyone else is seeing are people she would occasionally see in Mantle disturbs her even further. Though another thing that occupies Robyn's mind is Carl. Before she could question Carl about what was heard. They all found themselves at the exit and saw a familiar individual waiting for them. An individual who was the last person Robyn wanted to see.
"Hi everybody." Hazama said to the approaching group. At the sight of the slender man, Robyn started to walk towards him in a furious pace. Once Robyn got to him, she aimed her crossbow at him
"I get the feeling that this wasn't just mission success." Hazama calmly said
"Did you know about the lab that was in those mines?!" Robyn angrily asked
"People set up labs all the time, your going to have to be a bit more specific." Hazama said making Robyn angrier
"On my terms." Robyn said before she reached out her hand towards Hazama
"So that's how it is." Hazama said before he grabbed Robyn's hand and her aura started to glow
"Did you know anything about the lab we discovered?" Robyn asked
"I was suspicious about a lab but I don't know for certain what went on in that lab." Hazama answered making Robyn's hand glow green
"The lab we had just discovered has the bodies of people that disappeared from Mantle. Did you have anything to do with those disappearances? Do you have any involvements with those inhumane experiments that went on in those damn labs?" Robyn asked in an angry tone
"I had absolutely no involvement to do with the disappearances and those experiments." Hazama said causing Robyn's hand to glow green.
"From the questions you've asked me, I have a pretty good idea of what you've discovered. You see, Remnant has a bunch of dark secrets lurking about. You and the teams just stumbled across one of them. You had just came across one of the Murakumo Labs. I would tell you more, but judging from your expression. I'm certain you managed to put the pieces together. If I'd have known for certain that it was a Murakumo Lab, I would have informed the General about this. But you all were able to accomplish something that even veteran Huntsman had trouble with. You all should be proud of yourselves." Hazama told Robyn
"What happens now?" May said as she stepped towards the two
"For starters, that depends on you. Thanks to a successful mission, your little video is nothing but deleted scraps of data. As for the young ones that you all supervised. They will be given official licenses that will enable them to be substitute Huntsmen and Huntresses." Hazama told answered May
"So how long will it before the SDC come and claim these Mines?" Robyn asked in a sarcastic tone
"Well, since Jacques Schnee released all of his claims to this specific Dust Mine. Because of the low production that's been coming. I figured that Mantle should have it. From my recon, this Dust Mine has a very large deposit. So if Mantle claims this Dust Mine, the Dust will help the people of Mantle and discourage your less than stellar activities. I've already filed the paperwork to make this all legal. I had a feeling that you would be successful. Though I don't see Dr. Merlot among you all. With this lab cut off from him, it'll be a matter of time before we catch him." Hazama explained to Robyn
"The bodies we found in the labs. We can't leave them there, they deserve a proper burial." May told Robyn
"I know, but if we get the police involved. General Ironwood will catch wind of this, he'll take all of the Dust and this is something the people of Mantle need. We'll return and make sure the people are buried. It'll be a lot of hard work but its what we signed up for. Once the people are buried, we can let the people of Mantle know about this mine. The mining equipment is already inside so that'll be helpful in the long run." Robyn said with May agreeing with her
"One last thing, as a thank you for bringing along the kid. I have a letter for you from someone very important. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to take my leave." Hazama said before he left after giving Robyn the letter.
"What's that?" Fiona asked while looking at the letter while Joanna was with her
"It's from Lord Tenjo." Robyn said after seeing the envelop before she started to read it. As she read it, her face had a pleasant look with a mix of a surprise
"It says that although she is unable to help us right now. She is working on something big and if she succeeds, she'll do more than offer aide. She'll let the people of Mantle stay in Ronin-Gai." Robyn said which surprised the Huntresses
"That means, life for everyone in Mantle will be better. Whether they move or stay, Lord Tenjo will offer aide." Fiona said in a happy tone
"Which means people won't have to stay underneath Atlus's thumb anymore." May said in the same tone
"This does sound like good news, but we're forgetting one crucial fact." Joanna said which Robyn picked up on immediately
"It was Hazama who delivered this to us. If this is true then that means we have to worry about whether or not he told General Ironwood. For now we have to wait until further notice." Robyn said before they all looked at the young people that participated in the mission with them
"Everyone I'm glad we made it out of there in one piece. There were some moments that seemed touch and go a couple of times. But we all pulled together and made it through." Kagura said to his team in a happy tone
"I agree, I'm glad we all made it together." Mai said in a happy tone
"Indeed, we all did our part and ensured the success of the mission." Hibiki said
"Yes, I am glad you are all part of my team." Kagura said before he grabbed Tsubaki's behind and Mai's chest. Once Mai and Tsubaki noticed what Kagura did, each of Kagura's teammates proceeded to attack him. Until he was down on the ground with a slight twitch.
"You just couldn't resist could you Kagura." Tsubaki said in an angry tone
"We're technically off mission and not fighting for our lives. I think I've earned the right to embrace something pleasant." Kagura said defending his actions
"Just when I was saying your praises." Hibiki said in a disappointing tone
"They all have some potential, despite some quirks." Robyn said before she looked at Carl who was staring off into the sun with a deep thought
"What did he go through?" Robyn thought to herself while looking at Carl before she went to the airship

"Yep and I'm happy to say that everything has gone according to plan. If Jubei had come any sooner, then I would have been in some trouble. Fortunately, with certain people growing frustrated with Ironwood's string of activities. That created an opportunity that I made certain to make use of." Terumi told Izanami
"Won't the loss of that specific Murakumo Lab cause some unintended problems. Your carelessness is making me quite uneasy." Relius told Terumi
"Not to worry, as long as it wasn't General Ironwood that caught wind of that specific Murakumo Lab. Then it'll put us in a favorable position in the long run. Don't forget everyone, the General needs to be in a stable frame of mind for him to fulfill his part of the plan. If he discovers that a Murakumo Lab has been right under his nose. Then he'll look a bit too deeply regarding the history and it will likely result in him wanting to work with Tenjo. Which will put a much bigger roadblock to the plan." Terumi told Tenjo
"Will this cause problems with Salem in any way?" Izanami asked
"No, she is fixated on getting the Relic from Haven. Since she knows that I still have to maintain cover. This gives me a lot of breathing room and prep time for the plan. Which reminds me, are you certain you encountered the kids in Mistral Relius?" Terumi asked
"Indeed, Qrow was also someone I had to fight. Though I know Salem isn't fond of failure. Killing them would present more problems with Salem." Relius told the two
"The death of Jin Kisaragi would mean the death of Hakumen. But I do understand your reason for restraint." Izanami told Relius
"Fortunately, I'm working on a project that will smooth things over with Salem. The end result will ensure that a specific individual will have a fighting chance against Ragna. Especially when he uses the power of the Beast. But I fear it will still be a few months until its ready." Relius explained to the two
"Still, if the kids are in Anima, that means they going towards Haven. Which means they intend to become Ozpin's soldiers." Izanami told the two
"I agree, secrecy is still on our side but there are too many factors that can make things worse. You know the saying no plan survives first contact with the enemy. Well I don't recall a plan that can survive impulsive stupidity. Cinder will likely be part of the retrieval of the Relic. But with Ruby and Ragna being there. There is no way she can resist the urge to take her revenge. That self-entitled brat honestly thinks she has a chance against Ragna. If she puts revenge over common sense. Then the mission will surely end in a failure and I don't know what Salem will do." Terumi explained to Izanami and Relius
"I see your grievance, do you have any suggestions?" Izanami asked
"I'll feel a bit more at ease if someone who can't be intimidated by Cinder was there. Which is why we need to get our own recruit to help. The over story is that he is a trusted associate." Terumi told Izanami
"I see, you intend to involve Bedman. Very well, you have my permission to have him assist Salem." Izanami told Terumi
"Since I'm closest to his location I will bring him up to speed. Now if you'll excuse me, I must be off." Relius said before he left the communication
"I must be going as well. I still have to get things ready on my end. Once that Cat gets here, I have to not only keep my guard up. But also make sure I'm not seen." Terumi told Izanami
"Very well, continue as you were." Izanami said as the communication ended

I was really close to having Robyn drop the F bomb in this chapter at the sight of the Murakumo Labs. I've seen several T rated fanfics that does use the F word but I didn't want to risk it.
For how I portrayed Dr. Merlot in this chapter. From what I was able to look up on the wiki's, youtube, and TV Tropes. Dr. Merlot seems like the kind of person who would do forbidden experiments while developing a god complex. So I figured that it would make sense for him to be one of the Scientists who works for the Murakumo Labs. While also seeing the Six Heroes as true monsters who refuse to share their knowledge and power with the world. Who would also have a great deal of respect for Relius.
For Kagura's perverted moments in this chapter, he does take his duties very seriously, but he is a strong admirer of the female body. But he does do that sometimes to ease the tension and the Happy Huntresses have some respect for him. Because they see that he walks his talk.
Another one of Ronin-Gai's unique resources is Custom Dust. Which will be further explained and explored in a future arc.
I am also confirming that Carl can use magic as well as aura. It was in this chapter where he awakened to the use of magic.
Another thing I'm confimring is that Bedman will be coming soon. The only thing I'll confirmed which was confirmed in this chapter is that he knows about Izanami and works for her.
