I would like to apologize for the massive delay in the recent chapter. One of the main reasons for the delay is that I had to rewrite this chapter several times. The main reason for the chapter rewrite is that basically . . . I didn't like it. I would rather delay a story update than to release a chapter that doesn't meet my standards.
Grammar, spelling, and typo errors I can live with as long as it doesn't take too much away from the overall experience of the story. (I am also aware of the comments about my writing errors) But I need to draw the line on releasing chapters that fail to meet my minimum standards and since you all are taking the time to read my story. You deserve the best quality I can give. Thank you all for your patience and understanding
Also to answer a question I've received, under most circumstances Ragna wouldn't tolerate the bandits. But the reason he is doing it is because Raven is his shortcut to Haven and he's pressed for time. So if that means tolerating them, he is willing to stomach it. Making things easier for him is that the bandits have agreed to not do any raids or attacks as long as he's there.
Chapter 74 Progress
(Belladonna Manor)
Blake spent a good deal of time catching up on her reading ever the situation with Iliana has calmed down. She would occasionally spend time training with Tao and Sun to ensure their skills stay sharp and to keep each of them out of any noticeable trouble. Especially since Tao has managed to prove herself to be so energetic that nobody can consistently keep up with her. After spending some time with her mother, Blake found herself subconsciously walking through her house. She saw Tao and Sun playing several card games together. As she walked further, she found her father vigilantly going over the paperwork and proceeded to go to him before she fully realized it.
"Blake, is everything alright?" Ghira asked in a concerned tone
"I'm fine Dad, I was curious about what you were doing. It looks like your really focused about something." Blake told her father
"Well, I was just going over the speech I'm going to address to Menagerie." Ghira answered before he put his glasses away
"A speech, did something happen that I can help with?" Blake asked in a concerned tone
"Not necessarily, the thing is that I've decided to accept Lord Tenjo's offer for her Kingdom of Ikaruga." Ghira told Blake which surprised her
"Wow, are you sure you want to do it Dad? If you agree to this, that means Menagerie will be part of a Kingdom." Blake asked in a tone that is a mix of curious and concerned
"I know Blake, while Menagerie has always been a safe haven for the Faunus. The cost is that we have allowed ourselves to be cut off from the world. While Lord Tenjo has assured me that Menagerie will still get the help it needs for the sake of all the Faunus. We still need to make a conscious effort to make things better." Ghira told Blake causing her to look down in regret
"Dad, I'm sorry for everything I've done. I called you and Mom cowards and I continued to stand by the White Fang. When things started to get worse with them I decided to run and . . ." Blake said before her father interrupted her
"No Blake, you have already apologized and I'm glad you saw the light and didn't lose your way. If anything, I should be the ones to make amends." Ghira told Blake
"What do you mean Dad? You've done nothing wrong, you stood by your beliefs." Blake said before Ghira continued
"You've told me that you have always ran away from your problems. But I think you've inherited that trait from me. When Sienna Khan was adamant on the White Fang's violent approach. I should have held my ground and fought against it. Though instead, I ran away and stayed in Kuo Koana. While silently allowed the situation to get worse. What happened with Beacon was a wake-up call for me to do something about the White Fang. Lord Tenjo's plan for Ikaruga is a chance for me to do some real good for the Faunus and the World. I know that there will be many Faunus here who would want no part of this. But if I can convince at least a handful of them to be a citizen of the new Kingdom. Then I'm certain that in time. More Faunus in Menagerie will start to come around." Ghira explained to Blake in an optimistic tone
"That's a noble statement, but I'm afraid things are going to be much harder than you think." Tora Kaka said as she entered the room and quickly got Blake and Ghira's attention
"What do you mean by that Tora?" Ghira asked in a concerned tone
"I noticed that there was something odd about your White Fang guests. So I decided to do a bit of snooping and I learned something quite unpleasant. I don't know all of the details but I was able to learn that the White Fang has some plans for Haven Academy." Tora told the two which surprised them
"Are you certain Tora?" Ghira asked in a concerned tone
"I'm very certain, I can even play a recording for you two if neither of you are convinced." Tora said before she used her Scroll and played
"Despite the focus being on the Beast of Remnant, the fall of Beacon was a victory for the White Fang. In a few months when we implement our plans for Haven. Everything will finally fall into place for the White Fang and the Faunus. Azrael has ensured cooperation, all that's left is for everyone to play their part." Adam said over the recording
"This is quite troublesome news, if the White Fang is planning something for Haven Academy then this is something that can't be ignored. Tensions are already high enough because of the Beast of Remnant and the White Fang's attack. But if something happens to Haven. There is no telling how the other Kingdoms will react to the Faunus." Ghira stated in a concerned tone
"In the recording, did Adam say Azrael?" Blake asked in a concerned tone
"You know of him meow?" Tora asked
"More than that, me and my friends had fought him. That man is extremely dangerous and if Adam is associated with him. Then a lot of people are in more danger than they realize." Blake explained to the two causing Ghira to think for a moment
"If all of this is true, then that changes a few things. Once I address the residence, I will bring attention to this attack and rally our people. If we can bring aid to Haven, then not only it will stop Adam. But it will go a long way to ensure goodwill for both the Kingdom of Mistral and Lord Tenjo's Kingdom." Ghira said explaining his idea to the two
"That is a good idea, I have no doubt that Lord Tenjo will be pleased with you bringing aid to Haven meow." Tora told Ghira
"Is there anything I can do to help Dad?" Blake asked in a concerned tone
"If you want to, it will go a long way if you speak when I address the people of Kuo Koana. But only if you want to, if you do not then I will completely understand." Ghira told Blake
"Dad, I've ran away more than I've actually helped people. When the White Fang started to hurt people I ran away from that fact and defended them. Something has to change and I want to help in any way I can." Blake told her father
"Thank you Blake, I need to discuss a few things with Tora. I will talk with you about a few more things later. I already have an idea on how you can help. But we'll talk about that later." Ghira told Blake
"Yes Dad." Blake responded before she left
After leaving the room, Blake found herself on the balcony of her home and after dismissing the guards she found herself in deep thought about a lot of things that's been going with the White Fang and Adam. She was filled with a sense of worry for how far the White Fang. Especially since its clear that they have allied themselves with Azrael. She still remembers her encounter with the Mad Dog and how that if it wasn't for Ragna, Jin, and Jubei. She would have been dead by now. She even remembers that if it wasn't for Jin, Adam would have succeeded in stabbing her.
As she was thinking, she was also filled with worry for her team. Everything happened so quickly that she was unable to see how her team is doing. The last time she saw them, she knew that they were fighting the Grimm at Beacon. But with the Grimm endlessly getting to the school and her leaving the way she did. She doesn't know how the entirety of her team is doing. From what she heard from Sun, Ruby is doing fine and she was able to handle herself against the Grimm. Though when it came to Weiss and Yang, the details are more complicated. The only thing that she knows for certain thanks to Sun is that Yang lost her arm and Weiss was giving her medical treatment.
"Something On your mind?" Ilia asked after canceling her camouflage near Blake which surprised her
"You need better security, if I can get this close to you. Then just imagine what other people can do." Ilia told Blake in a joking tone
"To be fair, you have more experience with stuff like this. Besides I can handle myself." Blak told Ilia
"This brings back a lot of memories. Back when the both of us would do our scouting runs for the White Fang." Ilia said causing Blake to chuckle for a bit
"I remember, we would spend hours watching certain places. Then during days when there was nothing to do. We would spend even more hours just talking about random stuff." Blake told Ilia while reminiscing about the past
"Blake, its not too late for things to be back to the way it was before. You can still join us, I'm sure Adam will forgive everything if he sees that your fighting for the right side." Ilia told Blake pleading for her to come back to the White Fang
"Ilia, the White Fang has lost its way. They have brought a lot of harm to the humans and now most of them are afraid of us. They see the Faunus as monsters and now things have gone too far for too long and something needs to be done about it." Blake told Ilia
"The White Fang does what needs to be done. We've tried it the way our father wanted us to do. But those methods have made too little progress for our kind. By showing strength, the humans now know that we won't be pushed around and has started to treat us fairly." Ilia stated to Blake
"But at what cost, because of what happened at Beacon. The Faunus are now being attacked and we're a target now more than ever." Blake told Ilia
"The Faunus are being hunted down because of the Beast of Remnant. They think that we've brought the Beast back and want to kill us. Besides the humans have done terrible things to the Faunus even before the White Fang took action. Or did you forget about what happened with the Beast-Wall Tactic?" Ilia stated to Blake
"I know what happened Ilia, but that is no excuse for our actions. There is a better way to handle this." Blake responded causing Ilia to take a quick breath
"Blake, please tell me what you know about the Beast of Remnant and the Hero of Vale. I know you said you don't know anything. But you must surely be able to recall something." Ilia said which had gotten more of Blake's attention
"Why do you want to know about those two?" Blake asked
"Ragna the Bloodedge has the power of the Black Beast. If the White Fang can just make him see reason and fight for us. Then the humans will know not to cross us. If they don't start treating us fairly and equally. Then they will know that if we really want to. We can show their kind the same treatment they gave us for the Beast-Wall tactic." Ilia told Blake
"So you want Ragna for his power just so you can threaten the humans. Do you have any how inhumane that is?" Blake asked in a pleading tone
"This is necessary Blake, the humans have been doing the same thing to us for years. Look at Atlus, a Kingdom that is built on the suffering of the Faunus. But if they see the Beast of Remnant on our side. The humans will finally understand the same fear that they have given us." Ilia responded in a bold tone before she continued to talk further
"As for the Hero of Vale, he represents everything that is wrong with Atlus. He is a hero to the humans. Even to the ones that abuse our kind. We only want to make him understand that he's been fighting for the wrong side. He's also essential in stopping the Beast of Remnant. If the both of them are with us, then the humans will have no choice but to listen to us." Ilia explained further to Blake
"Ilia, you sound too much like Adam. We can't change the past, but we need to make changes now so that we can have a better future. If not for us then the entirety of the Faunus. We're going to speak out against the White Fang. Everything the White Fang has done needs to be put to an end." Blake stated to Ilia
"Whatever you and your family are planning won't work. It's not too late for you to come back to us. Just take some time to think about it." Ilia told Blake
"It was good seeing you again, Ilia but I'm not going back to the White Fang.' Blake stated before Ilia left and Blake went back to her deep thoughts.
(Mistral's Bar)
Qrow has spent a lot more time at the bar than he originally wanted, but given everything that's happened with the meeting with Leo and what he's learned. It would push even the most stable of Huntsman to drink. Getting no support from the Headmaster for the retrieval of the Spring Maiden was already bad enough. But the fact that they now have to deal with not only a missing Ragna and the mystery that is the Three Azures makes things so much harder. Thanks to Jubei and Rachel, Qrow has a good idea of what the Three Azures. But the fact that there is still too much they don't know. Not to mention, they don't have a plan for how to deal with everything. Which is adding more stress to the problem.
"Excuse me sir." A young male voice said causing Qrow to turn around and notices a young farmboy who is accompanied by a young girl with red eyes.
"Aren't you two a bit young to be in a place like this?" Qrow told the two
"I know this is going to sound strange. But there's a voice in my head that wants me to tell you to give me back my cane." Oscar told Qrow causing the veteran Huntsman to chuckle before handing him Ozpin's cane
"It's great to see you again Oz." Qrow said with a smile on his face before Oscar's eyes started to glow
"It's good to see you too Qrow." Ozpin said as he possessed Oscar. After the greeting, Qrow looked at the young girl that accompanied Oscar
"Who's the pipsqueak?" Qrow said looking at the younger girl
"Her name is Izana and aside from her name and that she wants to come with Oscar. I honestly don't know much about her." Ozpin said as he looked at Izana
"It's a pleasure to meet you." Izana told Qrow
"Um Oz, I have a feeling about why you're here. But what are we going to do with her? It doesn't look like she can fight." Qrow commented before Ozpin spoke up
"Arrangements can be made for her to stay out of things for her safety. Besides, we have a lot to catch up on." Ozpin told Qrow
"You have no idea Oz." Qrow responded
(The Branwen Camp)
Weiss was able to muster up a good deal of strength to open her eyes. It didn't take her long to fully open them and once she did. She quickly remembered what happened before she lost consciousness. Earlier, she was on an airship fighting against the Grimm while trying to help some innocent people. Shortly after that, the ship she was on had gotten hit by a strong attack and the ship crash landed. Not too long after surviving the crash landing, a woman with long black hair approached her and kicked her unconscious. Immediately after remembering everything. Weiss quickly stood up noticed that she was in a makeshift cage.
"Looks like you finally woke up." A male voice said causing Weiss to look at the source and quickly recognized him and found herself filled with a great deal of rage. The person she recognized is Ragna himself. Despite having a different set of clothes with some designs. It's Ragna himself.
Weiss has two different mindsets about seeing Ragna, on one hand she was happy to see a recognizable face. The problem is that it was Ragna of all people and the last time they saw each other was unpleasant which was putting it lightly. Realizing that Ragna was in her presence, Weiss fixed him with a glare that was the same one that she fixed him with the last time they saw each other. This time, Ragna just crossed his arms and just gave her a sideways glance.
"I never thought I would see you here in Mistral of all places. Especially since what happened the last time we saw each other." Weiss told Ragna in a sharp tone
"I could say the same thing Weiss. I thought you would stay in Atlus once things calmed down in Beacon. Along with my crybaby of a brother." Ragna sharply responded causing Weiss to respond back
"Unlike you, Jin is actually out there trying to find the people that instigated the Fall of Beacon." Weiss responded causing Ragna to show a spike of anger
"What the hell do you think I've been doing these past few months. Sit on my ass and feel sorry for myself since the world decided to label as the Beast of Remnant." Ragna stated to Weiss which angered her
"You're the one outside of this cage and is watching over me like a guard dog for these bandits. What am I supposed think about what you were doing?" Weiss countered to Ragna
"Well maybe these bandits wanted to keep you here because of your snobby attitude and wanted nothing to do with it." Ragna responded causing the two to be quiet for a few moments. After the tense moments have passed, Ragna was the first to speak but in a more somber tone
"How's Yang, . . . is she OK?" Ragna calmly asked causing Weiss to look at him in slight disgust
"You have a lot of nerve to ask me that knowing what happened at Beacon." Weiss angrily responded
"Look, I know I messed up and that she has no right to forgive me. But I need to know if she's okay." Ragna told Weiss making her glare return
"She's alive, but she is far from okay. You've lied to her about Cinder and her team. You've hurt her by defending a girl because you couldn't trust anyone. Which in a spectacular way, destroyed every bit of trust she had in you. Because of your selfishness and carelessness. Nu was able to cut off Yang's arm, something that shouldn't have happened if you'd have worked with me and Yang. A lot of people in Atlas say you're the reason that Beacon fell. You did not cause the Fall of Beacon, but everything that happened to Yang. Is entirely your fault, she is alive but she is not okay." Weiss explained to Ragna causing him to look away in guilt
There are many times that Ragna and Weiss wouldn't see eye to eye with each other. Yet when the two are in agreement with each other is both rare as it is dire. Ragna knows that he didn't handle things with Yang perfectly. He also knows that the situation with Nu should have been dealt with much differently. Yet to have Weiss explained thoroughly that what happened to Yang is his fault. Fills him with a sense of guilt that he can't run away from. Though Weiss made a plan to try to give Ragna a second chance. She had to make it clear that Ragna messed up wanted to see if he had some form of guilt. The tense silence and his concern for Yang's well-being. Confirms that there is still some measure of hope for him. Realizing that things can't go on like this, Weiss elected to take the first step to at least try to mend things. Especially since she knows the full story about a few things.
"While I was in the hospital getting treated, I spoke with Jin. He told me everything you told him. Even the main reason why you wanted to keep it a secret. I know that Sister Celica and Saya were threatened." Weiss told Ragna which surprised him
"Then why aren't you mad at Jin like you are at me?" Ragna asked Weiss
"Because when he asked me if he should trust you. I told him that he should since it'll help in the long run. So I want to know your side of things. How did you learn about Cinder and why didn't you tell anyone?" Weiss asked
"I don't owe you any answers since the damage is done. So why should I tell you anything?" Ragna asked causing the former heiress to calmly stand up
"Your right, you don't owe me any answers. But I do have a reason for you to tell me a few things and the reason is trust." Weiss told Ragna which surprised him.
"Trust, even considering everything that happened before?" Ragna asked further in a confused tone before Weiss continued
"Before going to Beacon, I thought I knew everything I needed to know about the world. However ever since Beacon and meeting my team. Which also includes meeting you, I realized I know next to nothing. Since we first met, I always thought of you as a delinquent who would be a criminal in the future. But after being in Atlus after the Fall of Beacon. I've learned that I am becoming like most of the Atlus nobles who don't care about anything other than their money and status. That I was becoming just like my father. So I've decided to give you a chance to explain yourself and stop being so judgmental towards you." Weiss explained to Ragna which piqued more of his interest
"You've grown and changed." Ragna told Weiss
"I have, and there is a lot more to this. It's clear that you still care about Yang despite what happened. She is still my teammate and if you want to fix things with her. Then as it currently stands. I am your best and only chance at fixing your friendship with her. So if I know your side of the story. Then it'll make things easier to explain things to Yang. Or are you really the monster that the world is saying you are?" Weiss explained further to Ragna causing him to think for a moment
Ragna hated to admit it, but Weiss has made several good points. On one hand, he doesn't really owe her any kind of answer. Especially since not only the damage has been done. But also that the world has decided to call him the Beast of Remnant. Though on the other hand, Ragna owed Yang some answers at least since she was the one who was hurt most from his secrecy. Yang was the first real friend that Ragna has made and has started to care for her. Yet in one fell swoop, Ragna proceeded to mess it all up. Especially since he made the decision to fight the two and he didn't want it all to be for nothing. Ragna has lost everything, but Yang should at least have some answers. If she won't listen to Ragna, then she would at least listen to Weiss.
"Alright, ask your questions." Ragna told Weiss before she started to ask her questions.
(Gas Station)
After riding for several hours, Yang and Makoto found themselves at the Gas Station within the Anima continent. Which proved to be good timing since Bumblebee needed to refill on gas and that they needed some supplies for the long trip. The main problem was that they didn't know the proper direction to get to their destination. Even though they have a general idea, there is still no telling how long things will take.
"It's not often I see a couple of young travelers around here. If you don't mind me asking, is there a specific place you two are trying to go to?" The shopkeeper asked
"Well here and there, we're a bit new to the area so for now we're just taking in the sights." Makoto responded to the shopkeeper before Yang walked in
"Bumblebee is ready to go, all that's left is for us to get fueled up and we will be on our way." Yang told Makoto
"Looks like our chit-chat will have to come to an end. We would like a couple of drinks to go please." Makoto said in an energetic tone
"Um, I can't . . . ." The Shopkeeper said before Yang cut in
"She means water, we're both parched, and we have a long trip ahead of us." Yang clarified to the Shopkeeper (much to Makoto's disappointment)
"Well you could give me a drink, but you better make mine a double." A male voice said which had gotten the girls attention. When they looked at the source, they see a skinny man with dirty blonde hair and grey eyes.
"Look, I can't just . . . . ." The Shopkeeper said before the man cut him off
"Oh come on, don't you think you should be nice to your customers. I mean, you wouldn't want anything to happen to your store due to a few complaints." Shay told the Shopkeeper before he turned to look at Yang and Makoto
"Now what brings a beauty and a beast to these parts?" Shay said causing Makoto to step forward
"None of your business, I see that your drunk and stupid. So if you can just go away and rethink your life choices. Then we can forget this unfortunate moment." Makoto told the drunken man
"Wow, your much prettier than most other Faunus I've seen, maybe you and your friend can . . ." Shay said as he grabbed Makoto's wrist before she gave him a focused look
"This is your last warning, walk away in one piece or be prepared for something unpleasant." Makoto said maintaining her calm tone
"Oh come on, I'm known for being persistent and I can. . ." Shay said as he got closer before Makoto stopped him from getting closer
"Two things you need to know. First is that I warned you and the second thing is that your not my type." Makoto said before she delivered several quick jab with her tail and launched Shay out of the store at an intense speed
"Wow, that guy has been causing trouble for me and my customers for weeks. The drinks are on the house, so if I may ask, where are you two going?" The Shopkeeper asked while Yang was drinking her water
"We're looking for someone, it's a bit of a long and complicated situation." Makoto answered
"Well its not often people come around here. This area is far from the kingdom and the only people that are around are bandits who happen to be led by Raven Branwen." The Shopkeeper warned
"We know, its time for us to get going." Yang said before the two started to leave
"Just be careful out there you two, you don't want to get mixed up with bandits." The Shopkeeper warned in a concerned tone
"Don't worry, we can handle anything that comes our way." Makoto confidently said before her and Yang left the store
"Hey wait you two." Shay yelled out to the two before they got on the motorcycle
"Really, look we didn't come here looking for a fight." Yang told Shay
"Look unless your ready to apologize then I don't have anything to say to you." Makoto told Shay while on guard
"I overheard that you two are looking for someone. It just so happens I'm associated with the people your looking for." Shay said with a smirk on his face
(The Branwen Camp)
After Ragna answered all of Weiss's questions, the former heiress did something that she didn't think she would do. She finally understood Ragna and agreed with him regarding a good number of his decisions. She initially thought that it would be a misguided attempt to prove himself. Yet the more details she heard the more she realized that she was wrong about it. Though Ragna handled several things poorly, he did exhibit good judgement and did something that her and her team didn't do when it came to the investigation. Ragna thought his actions through and acted accordingly. Despite a lot of impulsive mistakes on his part, Weiss realized that Ragna at the very least tried to do the right thing. Especially since he confronted someone in a situation where he had no hard evidence. Though when his family was threatened its what forced him to go to Jin for help. Not because of his skills, because he was desperate and his family was threatened too.
"So just to be clear, when the second term started. Your semblance got stronger and you can absorb other people's memories. Which is how you learned it was Cinder in the CCT Tower when you fought her." Weiss stated to Ragna
"Yep, I didn't tell anyone because I didn't have any concrete proof and thought my power was acting up. Which is why I decided to confront her. If it turned out I was wrong then no harm no foul. Though if I was right, I could deal with her myself. What threw me off was when she threatened my family." Ragna briefly explained to Weiss
"When things happened back at Beacon, why didn't you tell me and Yang that your family was threatened? I'm sure that she would have understood and things wouldn't have escalated the way they did." Weiss told Ragna
"I didn't say anything because it would feel like I would be throwing them under the bus. If I hadn't confronted Cinder then she wouldn't have threatened them the way she did. Otherwise, I wouldn't have even bothered trying to get Jin's help." Ragna explained further to Weiss
"So Celica and Saya were put in danger because of your impulsive stupidity. I'm sorry for what happened to them. But if you'd have handled things better, then things would have been much different." Weiss told Ragna
"You have a point, but can you say you and your team handled things perfectly. With that investigation and that mission that led to the Breach of the Grimm?" Ragna countered causing Weiss to think for a moment.
"Fine, I hate to admit it but you have a point. I guess we both need to do things better. Which leads to my next question, why did you protect Nu?" Weiss asked causing Ranga to answer her
"When I absorbed her memories, I learned that she went through unspeakable horrors in her life. Horrors that can best be described as pure hell for a child. Which made her into what she is today. I know she's killed people but if there is a chance I can save her from her pain and herself. Then I have to take it, no matter how small of a chance it is. If I can't save a kid from her suffering, then how can I call myself a Huntsmen. If you learned what I did, then what would you have done?" Ragna asked causing Weiss to think for a moment before answering
"Honestly, I don't know what I would have done. On one had she is probably too far gone and it would be best to deal with her. But on the other hand, if she experienced the horrors that you've described. Then maybe trying to save her wouldn't be the worst idea. You have to understand something though. You can keep trying to save her, but at some point you have to decide whether or not its worth it. That is all I'll say on the matter since I wouldn't know what to do if I was in your shoes." Weiss explained to Ragna
"I hate to play this card, but you were willing to stick with Blake knowing that she was a member of the White Fang. The same organization that caused you and your family a lot of problems. Whose members also has blood on their hands as well. Blake wants to redeem them so why can't I do the same for Nu?" Ragna responded to Weiss
"Fine, I see your point, but can you redeem her before things get to a point of no return." Weiss advised Ragna before the both of them were in deep thought about a few things
"I'm surprised." Ragna said which confused Weiss
"What do you mean?" Weiss asked
"I remember your reaction to when Yang told you I put Jin in danger when we were kids. I surprised that your not grilling me for answers about that." Ragna told Weiss
"I wanted to do that initially but after thinking about a few things that I'm not going to talk about. Let's just say that I'm in no position to talk." Weiss responded while thinking about her brother's words
"Fair enough, but what are you doing all the way out here in Anima? Your not the type of person to go somewhere without some kind of a plan." Ragna asked
"I learned that my sister Winter was here in the Continent. I came here to Mistral to see if I can meet up with her. There is nothing for me in Atlus and I want to make a difference as a Huntress." Weiss told Ragna causing him to think for a moment
"Winter, damn what a coincidence." Ragna muttered that Weiss heard and couldn't ignore
"Ragna, do you know where Winter is? I know that you two are on bad terms. But I really need to meet up with her." Weiss asked causing Ragna to come to a realization
"I had a run in with Winter not too long ago and things got a bit intense." Ragna told Weiss causing her to have a surprised look on her face
"What did you do?" Weiss asked in a slightly panicked tone
"We did fight, but she went back to Atlus with my master. She was sent to look for me and bring me back to the General." Ragna told Weiss
"Oh no." Weiss said before Ragna spoke further
"Look, these guys made it clear that they want to send you back to Atlus. I know you don't like your father but maybe it won't be such a bad thing if you go back. At the very least you know Winter will help you." Ragna suggested to Weiss
"I don't trust these bandits, as a matter of fact. Why are you sticking with these guys?" Weiss asked
"Because I need to get the people that ruined my life. I want to get Cinder and Terumi and they can't get away with what they've done. Their trail leads to Haven Academy and that's where I need to go. The leader of the bandit tribe promised me a one way shortcut if I put up with her tribe for a bit." Ragna briefly explained to Weiss
"In exchange for what, bandits don't usually do anything out of the kindness of their hearts." Weiss stated to Ragna
"I know how bandits work. But in case you hadn't notice I'm short on time and this is the best lead I have. So if you have any better ideas then I'm all ears." Ragna said causing Weiss to have a thoughtful look on her face before speaking
"I hope you know what your doing." Weiss told Ragna
"I do to, someone will come along in a bit. Once your free from here, we'll work on what to do next." Ragna told Weiss before they proceeded to wait for someone
(Menagerie Plaza)
Everyone gathered at the Plaza even sooner than Blake expected. But it was fortunate since they were hoping for a successful turnout. It didn't take long for Ghira to put together every talking point he needed to go over. Everything from what happened at Beacon to what they've learned. It was also clear that the issue regarding Adam and everything he's done needed to be addressed. Once Ghira, approached the podium. He saw many people among the crowd and took a deep breath before speaking.
"Everyone, I thank you all for coming. I wouldn't have called everyone here if it wasn't important. The reason I have called everyone here is because of several crucial matters involving the White Fang. AAs well as several unpleasant rumors that's been circulating our island." Ghira told everyone before he continued
"I understand that many of you have a less than stellar opinion on the humans and I completely understand your reasoning. Due in no small part to everything we've been through. But we can all agree that the tragic event now known as the Fall of Beacon is nothing short of a tragedy. Especially the lives that's been lost both to both the Beast of Remnant and the Humans who have hunted down the Faunus due to the fear of the Black Beast's return." Ghira explained to everyone before he continued to address the audience
"Though the ones who orchestrated the Fall of Beacon is still at large. I have confirmation that Adam Taurus and a Splinter Group of the White Fang had a role in the Fall of Beacon. A role that will set back peaceful relations between the Humans and the Faunus for years until something is done now. Everyday that Adam is at large, it becomes more difficult to deal with those that look down on the Faunus. Especially those who attack the Faunus because of the actions of the Beast of Remnant." Ghira said causing Blake to physically wince at her father calling Ragna the Beast of Remnant
"Are you OK Blake?" Kali asked her daughter in a concerned and low tone
"I'm fine Mom, its just that I wish Dad wouldn't call Ragna the Beast of Remnant like everyone else
"I know, and I can assure you me and your father don't like it either. But for now we have to distance ourselves from Ragna until we have more supporters. If it lets slip that you know Ragna as a friend. Then the Kingdoms might retaliate against Menagerie." Kali explained to Blake
"It still sucks, I mean I know that power makes Ragna really strong and all. But that's no reason to label him as a bad guy." Sun told Kali in a low tone as well
"Meow, that's right. Red Guy is a really Good Guy." Tao chimed in as well
"I know how you two feel, but if everything goes well. We only need to do this for a few weeks." Kali responded before they listened to Ghira's speech
"I know that enduring such torments just for being who we are is an exceptional challenge. Its also a long road for us Faunus to reach equality with the Humans. Fortunately, there are other humans who believe that equality between Humans and Faunus is very much possible. One such humans is Lord Tenjo herself and as proof of her beliefs. She is working to establish a new Kingdom and has offered to make us all citizens of the new Kingdom." Ghira said which surprised the crowd before he spoke further
"Even though this is quite generous, we must also do our part to pave the way towards cooperation for both Faunus and Humans. I have recently caught wind of a rumor that the Splinter Group of the White Fang that attacked Beacon. Has plans to attack Haven Academy and destroy their CCT tower within a few months. I have sent my swiftest messengers to warn the Council. But I have another solution to show our willingness towards peace. The solution is that we go and protect the tower and the Academy." Ghira said to the audience causing them to give an awkward silence
"Please listen to me, I understand your reluctance and your reasons to not trust the humans after enduring so much after so long. But understand that if we allow such destruction actions to continue like this. Then the dream of a peaceful co-existence between Humans and Faunus will be more of a dream. But if we do our part to stand against the injustices of the world. Especially those caused by our brothers and sisters within the White Fang. Therefore, I believe that if we're doing our part in paving the way for a peaceful coexistence. Then everyone else, including the Humans will follow." Ghira finished explaining to the audience that is now talking among themselves in a low tone.
After a few seconds of hearing the murmurs, slow but loud clapping could be heard that caught everyone. Even the Blake her family and friends were able to listen too. After a brief second, space was made as an individual walked through the crowd. Once the individual reached the front of the crowd. Blake had a surprised look on her face while Ghira, Kali, Sun, and Tao held one with rage.
"Adam." Blake said in a calm yet intense tone
"Such a nice speech, especially for those who are lying to themselves." Adam told Ghira
"Guards, apprehend him!" Ghira commanded before Adam snapped his fingers and several people within the Audience started attack some of the guards. The remaining guards were able to counter some of the audience attacks but quickly realized that there were members of the White Fang within the crowd and were prepared for a fight. Along with Blake with her friends.
"This does not need to end in a fight. I've only come here to talk, in a peaceful manner. Though unlike you, I am prepared to fight for my cause." Adam stated to Ghira
"Your prepared to kill everyone who stands against you Adam! You'll kill both human and Faunus and it won't matter to you if their guilty or innocent." Blake angrily told Adam as she wielded her weapon
"It is only natural to deal with those who are a threat to the noble cause. Mind you, I did not want to fight our Faunus brothers and sisters. But if they intend to side with the humans who will continue to oppress our kind. Then we must show that we are unwavering in our mission. As you can see, there are many who agrees with my beliefs." Adam responded to Blake in a confident tone
"Adam, your actions have only made things worse for everyone. The Faunus are more of a target than ever before and many humans have died because of your actions." Ghira angrily told Adam
"The Faunus have always been a target ever since the beginning. Even after our kind were given this land which is quite frankly a slap in the face because of its poor condition. But you don't need to listen to me if you want further proof of this fact." Adam said before a second individual appeared besides Adam and it surprised many people as well.
"Meow, who is that person?" Tao asked in a curious tone
"Sienna Khan." Ghira answered at the sight of the current High Leader
"Hello Ghira, I see that your still a bleeding heart after all this time." Sienna told Ghira in a mocking tone
(Anima Forest)
"We've been driving for a while following your instructions. You better know where you're going." Yang told Shay in an impatient tone
"Don't worry, I wouldn't lie to you lovely ladies." Shay told Yang
"You better be certain, we're not in a position to be wasting any time. There is something we need to do." Makoto added
"Don't worry, you have my word that you will be led to where you want to go." Shay responded with a hidden smirk as the girls are getting to the intended location
(Intelligence Department Head Office)
After doing his day-to-day activities both for the General and his other more ancient boss. Hazama found himself in the hallway on his way to his office. The good news is that everything has been put in place for his short and long term plans for Atlas and Ronin-Gai. From everything Hazama has done, even when Jubei arrives at the. The prep he's done has ensured that Jubei's knowledge will not make him a problem. Under the assumption that Jubei doesn't blow his cover.
Another potential hurdle is Salem and her subordinates. Salem's plans for Atlas can very easily change depending on how things go with Mantle. Though making sure Bedman works with Salem's group is a good way to ensure things go smoothly. He won't be enough to fully prevent Cinder's arrogance and stupidity. Since him, Azrael, and Relius can't participate in the mission. Hazama is still more cautious of the mission to retrieve the Relic of Knowledge.
"I made all of the prep I could in the time I had. So even if that cat arrives, I covered my basis and my tracks so whatever he discloses to the General will only move my plans along. Still if I'm exposed too soon, then everything will fall apart. I can stay out of the Kingdom for long enough. But if something happens here that requires me to act. Then that will be a severe risk and will put everything at risk. The only good thing about this is that the Shitty Vampire can't interfere too much." Hazama thought to himself as he was making it to his office. Before he entered, he sensed an interesting presence and decided to enter his office and started to talk to the figure in his chair.
"An attractive woman is in my office without any kind of notice. Who is also dressed in a scantily clad red leather outfit. I've seen enough adult videos to know how this will end. With how you've displayed yourself at the tournament, I'm sure your aware of stull like that too I-No." Hazama explained to I-No as she turned around in the office chair to face him.
"There's no harm in a little fun, and I am 22 years old. But that's not the reason I'm here. I need a job and a place to lay low for a while. Given everything I know about you, working for you would fit my plans quite nicely. I'm sure you'll appreciate my talents Captain Hazama, or should I say Terumi. I guess the bad blood between the Six Kingdoms and their hate/fear of you guys made it easy for nobody to see the resemblance." I-No explained to Hazama
"Being good at my job and have enough tech know-how to delete my public records and other records helps too. Though I have to ask, if what I'm sensing is accurate and it mostly is. Your magic power is stronger than Nine's, so why is it you need to lay low?" Hazama asked
"Let's just say that I'm working towards a long-term goal and if everything goes the way I want. Then everything will fall into place for something big." I-No answered
"If you don't mind me asking, what exactly are you working on?" Hazama asked
"Trust me, it'll be better for everyone if you don't know. But I can assure you, it doesn't involve you, the immortal or that Goddess." I-No answered
"Well a lady does need her secrets, so what can you offer? Aside from knowing a lot of interesting details about me." Hazama asked further
"I know that a pain from your past is coming here. Not to mention that its only a matter of time before the White Void encounters either you or Salem. Killing Jin can deal with Hakumen. But at best, it'll be a temporary measure especially regarding the Power of Order. I can help you keep things in order for you and all three of your bosses. Which will give you a chance to handle extra tasks that will come up. In fact, let me give you this." I-No said before she handed Hazama a sheet of paper with a lot of interesting details in it
"Well, this is quite the interesting list of facts. I don't normally like spoilers, but having someone who can see that far into the future will be very helpful." Hazama commented
"I just have one condition, after a specific date I'm going to have to leave. The reasons are my own and I'm not going to tell you. But rest assured I won't interfere with you and your associates in any way. Just don't try to look for me, you won't be able to find me. The condition is non-negotiable, but with my skills and talents you'll get a lot of bang for your buck." I-No told Hazama intriguing the slender man
"Well from what I've read this is more than acceptable. So consider yourself hired, which you've already done thanks to the details on this paper." Hazama said as he proceeded to destroy the paper before he received a message on his Scroll. Once he noticed the message, he proceeded to read the massage and got intrigued further especially since the sender is unknown
"I know you're in Atlas right now Hazama. You were good with covering your tracks but you can't hide from me. I'm giving you one chance to come to Mistral to accept and make peace for taking away what's precious to me. Or else I will kill you in your sleep." The Message said causing Hazama to chuckle once he saw a picture of a scarf and bowler hat.
"You're going to have to hold down the fort here in Atlas for a while. A very quiet but helpful diamond finally appeared and I need to settle this before she becomes a problem." Hazama told I-No
"How adorable, is this going to be another recruit?" I-No asked in a slightly sarcastic tone
"Maybe, I actually did enjoy working with Roman so taking in his partner is more preferable than tearing her apart. I'll send you instructions on how to handle things here soon. Before I leave, I'll update the records and give you clearance to prevent Ironwood from questioning your presence. You'll have to deal with Winter but I'm sure you can handle yourself." Hazama said before he chuckled.
"Don't worry about me, if anything you should worry about the unfortunate fools who tries to threaten me." I-No responded with her own smirk
(A/N)
One of the main deviations from Canon is that Sienna is still alive. The reason is that there is still some potential with her and her beliefs with the White Fang and I want to dive further into that. Also the reason she started to show more support of Adam's actions will be explained further in the next chapter as well. But the quick reason is that they never made a big impact against Atlas's Faunus racism and Azrael made several good points with his statement.
It's only a matter of time before the inevitable reunion between Yang and Ragna and it will be . . . . interesting. Weiss knows the full story and will try to help mend things and help Ragna but because of everything that happened. It's going to be a lot harder than she thought.
As for the reason Weiss didn't give Ragna a hard time for putting Jin in danger. It would be a glass house situation for her. She knows how abusive her father is and how negligent her mother is. Yet through it all she always had Winter but when she went to work for Ironwood. Weiss didn't do anything to help or support her brother. So when she realized that Whitley didn't like either Winter or her, she never did try to do anything to remedy that. So if she called out Ragna for how he handled things with Jin. She would be in no position to talk.
Also, I never did mention this but I should clear something up. Ragna was never a bully to Jin. Chapter 31 goes into more details, but basically as Ragna and Jin got older. Ragna wanted to make Jin stronger because he knew he couldn't protect him forever and would eventually have to look out for Saya. It was essentially tough love gone horribly wrong and Ragna's stubbornness made things a lot worse. Jin's retaliation didn't make things any better.
So read and review
Thank you
