Steve got between Eva and Bruce, saying, "Baby, just breathe."
Eva's eyes glowed bright green as she replied, "I swear, if he so much-"
"No one is going to use a needle."
Eva scoffed. "Why do I feel like that's a lie?"
Steve gave her his best smile. "When have I ever lied to you, sweetheart?"
She knew he never did. He never had a reason to. Sugarcoat things, maybe. Fib to hide a surprise, sure. But outright lie to cover up something? He could never get away with that. Eva was too smart for him. That and her cute puppy dog eyes always had him telling her everything. When it came to his girl, he was always kept in the dark until the last possible second.
Bruce said in a clinical voice, "Thor said 'blood bond' and that is the safest course."
Eva moved away from Steve, not wanting to hurt him. She summoned her magic, ready to fight her way out of whatever Banner had planned.
"Keep pushing it, Bruce," she warned. "I dare you."
"I'm just saying, a syringe-"
That's as far as he got. Eva used her powers to not only pick up Bruce but fling him through several walls. Her face contorted into a dark expression, one Loki recognized. She was too angry, afraid, and volatile.
"Thor, now!" the dark-haired god ordered.
The others were too shocked by what they had seen to move. They knew what would be coming, but Eva did not. But Thor and Loki had more pressing issues. At the rate she was turning into the vengeful version of Loki, they had little time before she started attacking people over the littlest things.
Thor took hold of Eva, pinning her arms to her side, stopping her from throwing Bruce completely out of the building. She screamed and cursed at him, but he didn't dare let go. Loki pulled out one of the daggers he kept on his person and began completing the bond.
First, he sliced into his hand, saying, "ᛗᛁ ᛒᛚᛟᛟᛞ - my blood." Then, her hand. "ᛁᛟᚢᚱ ᛒᛚᛟᛟᛞ - your blood." He took hold of her hand. "ᛟᚢᚱ ᛒᛚᛟᛟᛞ - our blood."
Thor nearly threw Eva into his arms, stating, "Nearly finished! Now, Loki!"
A bright light consumed them. Loki thought of everything he knew about his friend. Her kindness that hid her protective nature, the love she held for those she called her own, the lengths she would go to show everyone not to mess with the people she cared for, her strength, her intelligence, and her drive. All of it.
At the same time, Eva's mind was flooded with thoughts of Loki. How he endured until the burden became too much, how he was seen as a villain for the pain and the mistake of lashing out, how he suffered torture by so many in various degrees and still kept moving forward, the love he felt but hid behind his wit, how he could talk his way out of almost anything, his cunning, his mischief, and his fight. Every part of her best friend.
Suddenly thrown apart, Loki kept a tight hold on Eva's hand to keep them both from falling to the floor. Her head was bowed, his own was swimming. Steve came over, kneeling next to Eva, who had yet to look up. Loki was examining her, worry living in the pit of his stomach.
"Evelyn!" Steve called to her, fighting the urge to tap her face. "Talk to me, baby!"
Thor came to his boyfriend's side and asked, "Loki, are you alright?"
"I'm fine," Loki reassured. "But I- I don't-"
Eva lifted her head, a sad expression playing on her face as she asked, "Mischief?"
He pulled her into a tight hug. "Thank the Gods!"
"I'm so sorry!" Eva began bawling.
