It is good to be back writing chapters for the main story. I honestly did not expect my break to last such a long time. A lot of things happened and I needed to deal with it. Which unfortunately took up a lot more of my time and attention. I know I promised more gag chapters. Unfortunately, too many problems occurred that had to make the gag chapters less of a priority. One of them was that the work I did on one of the gag chapters were deleted. I was able to save a good portion of the work. But the setback was too much and it would take too much time. Another gag chapter I had in mind was going to be holiday themed. Unfortunately, with what I had in mind, it would be late so I've decided to delay the holiday themed chapter for 2023 holidays so it can not only be more fitting. But also give me a chance to ensure it's quality. I still plan on releasing gag chapters and they will be presented soon but only when they are ready. Comedy is not my strong suite so I thank you all for being patient.

Chapter 85 A train to catch

(The House)

It has been several weeks since the battle of Haven and everything has been settled with the Kingdom and the public. Though there are a few crucial details that's been altered to ensure certain details aren't spread and used against the defenders of Haven. For starters, the official story is that Leo Lionheart had fought valiantly against the White Fang and unfortunately got killed in the process. Another detail that was altered is that Jin collaborated with the Faunus Militia to stop the planned attack of the White Fang and succeeded. Though the airship that was carrying the White Fang was attacked by the Grimm. The Council thanked Jin and the Faunus Militia for stopping the attack. Also since the story that was conspired is that Jin planned and organized the attack. The Council saw fit to give Jin the Mistral Medal of Honor and Service. Part of the set along with the Vale Medal of Honor and Service.

Though Jin is grateful for the Medal, he did not like having to receive such a prestigious medal since his role was greatly exaggerated and he still failed to save Professor Lionheart, despite the fact that he was a traitor. If it were up to him, the Faunus Militia and the others would be given the Medal, including Ragna of all people. Despite the secrecy that Ragna and Yang are now sharing, it doesn't change the fact that they did stop Salem's forces. After hours were spent arguing, Jin eventually relented and accepted the story and medal. Yet it didn't make it any easier for him to stomach a major lie.

Another thing that is occupying Jin's mind is a gap in his memories. A couple of hours after the attack stopped. Jin remembers that everyone was in the house. Then after a few minutes, a powerful flash of light appeared and hours later everyone woke up. He couldn't explain it, yet every fiber of his being tells him that the moment is very significant despite not knowing why. Adding to the mystery is that everyone else doesn't remember what happened and just chalked it up to having a good time.

"I still don't like this." Jin said as he looked at the medal.

"What do you have a problem with this time Mr. Hero of Mistral?" Nora asked in a tone that is slightly sarcastic

"Me having a Medal that represents a high honor that I clearly didn't earn that's based on a lie. Do you really want me to get into more specifics Nora?" Jin said responding with sarcasm of his own. Before Nora could say anything else. Qrow spoke up.

"I know your not thrilled about how you got that Medal but this was our best course of action. We can't have people look too deeply into what happened with Leo and this story is enough for the investigators. Besides, technically speaking it's not a lie. You did fight alongside the Faunus militia and helped subdue Adam. Who is one of the top ranking members of the White Fang without killing him. Something that is much easier said than done in most cases. The Faunus Militia even agreed to that story without any fuss." Qrow explained as Oscar walked into the living room

"I know I don't meet a lot of people while I was on the farm. But I never thought someone would be dissatisfied with earning a prestigious medal." Oscar said before Ozpin took over

"It's reassuring to know that you're an earnest and truthful individual Jin. I also know that you're not pleased with how you've earned the title Hero of Mistral, but try to look at it this way. For starters, with your overall capabilities and the fact that you're already the Hero of Vale. It's a very real possibility that you would have earned the title for this Kingdom. Think of this as speeding the process along. Besides, this helped better relations between the Humans and the Faunus in this Kingdom. Would you rather maintain a truth that continues the divide the world, or a lie that can aid in uniting it?" Ozpin told Jin causing him to give an intense glare

"This is more of a necessary evil, but one where all parties gain a win in some form. If you happen to earn the title Hero of Atlas, then it will be proof that you would've earned the title in Mistral." Qrow told Jin

"Your excuse matches everything Salem told me in my brief encounter with her." Jin commented before Ozpin spoke up

"Manipulation is something Salem specializes in. While I am glad that you did not allow her to get in your head. It still weighs heavy on my mind that Professor Lionheart did not have such a strong will to resist Salem. While I am grateful for you all allowing the story to be that he died fighting for Haven. I can't help but feel disheartened as to how he met his unfortunate end." Ozpin said before he gave control back to Oscar and everyone else entered

"Perfect timing, now we can go over our plan before we get on the train to Argus." Qrow said before everyone got settled and he spoke further

"It's clear that our first priority is to secure the Relic and since we can't do that here. Which means we need to make taking the Relic to Atlas our biggest priority. Since leaving it out of the vault could mean Salem still has a chance to get to it. While also leave us vulnerable to whatever Terumi is planning." Qrow said while Ruby and Ragna shared an intense glare thinking about that man before Ozpin spoke up

"The Spring Maiden is the only one who can close the vault and since we don't know where she is. Going to Atlas is our best course of action." Ozpin said

"If only we could find the Spring Maiden." Jin commented while giving a brief glare to Ragna that was noticed

"What's that supposed to mean Jin?" Ragna said mentally ready for an argument before Makoto spoke up

"It means we're not looking forward to looking for the Spring Maiden in one of the biggest Kingdoms on Remnant. Isn't that right Jin?" Makoto asked while giving him a glare

"That's right, the thought of such an arduous task already fills me with dread." Jin said remembering his promise to her and Ren

"I know, which adds to the reason for why we need to go to Atlas." Qrow explained further

"How will we be able to get to Atlas? The General closed the borders and he's not the type of person to go back on his word easily." Weiss said in a concerned tone

"James is not an idiot, once we find a way to get in contact with him. He will let us in the Kingdom. Though if push comes to shove, we do have the heiress to the SDC. Which is bound to be worth an entry to the Kingdom." Qrow said in an optimistic tone

"Former heiress, I doubt that will mean anything to anyone." Weiss quickly said

"But your still important to the SDC, which has to mean something. Whatever happens, just know that we'll have your back." Yang confidently said

"Exactly right, we also have another person of interest from Atlas." Qrow said before everyone looked at Jin

"You're kidding." Jin said in an irritated tone

"I'm not, since you're the Hero of Vale and Mistral, your influence can mean a lot and make it easier to get to Atlas." Qrow spoke further

"What does the Relic even do?" Ren asked causing Ozpin took over

"The Relic of Haven is called the Relic of Knowledge. It is capable of answering any question the user has. With its wealth of knowledge, the right individual can do a lot with it." Ozpin answered which excited Nora

"That means that we can know everything we want. We can know all the unanswered questions to the world. Just think of what we can do with it." Nora excitedly said while eyeing the Lamp

"That is intriguing." Ren said in an impressed tone

"Just think of all the good we can do with relic." Blake happily said

"While the potential for immense good makes using the Lamp very tempting. There are several drawbacks to the power the Lamp has. For starters, it cannot answer events that has yet to happen and it can only answer three questions every 100 years. I have used up all of the questions and I doubt any of us would want to live for a century just to ask questions." Ozpin told the group

"Well, at least we know what it does. That's good, which means it can't be used against us." Ruby said as she looked at the Lamp

"I appreciate your optimism Ms. Rose, though we need to get the Relic to Atlas as soon as possible. Time is not on our side and from personal experience, anything can happen and we need to reduce the risk as much as possible." Ozpin said with everyone agreeing

(The Canyons)

The relentless cold wind is howling at this very moment. despite the countless rocks haven't been touched by the passage of time. The many scars on the land confirms that an intense battle has occurred on this vary location. After several minutes, a surge of dark energy radiated on a single location and seconds later, two individuals appeared. One of the individuals is Adam Taurus and he is accompanying Izanami herself. After agreeing to serve Izanami under the promise of a new world. Adam decided to accompany her while his still loyal associates gather as much forces as possible. Since he is still presumed dead due to the breakout that's being framed as an attack from the Grimm.

"What are we doing here? I doubt you came here for the desolate view." Adam told Izanami

"Terumi requires a few more pieces for my ambitions to come to light. He was specific about what he wanted and I know of an individual that can be of great use to him and by extension me." Izanami told Adam before the dark energy surged near Izanami and Adam. After a brief moment, Hazama appeared in person

"Exactly right boss lady." Hazama told Izanami

"Now what are you doing here? This better not be an attempt for you to keep an eye on me." Adam said in a demanding tone to Hazama while tightening his grip on his sword.

"Is that how you address the person who saved you from prison life. I've seen what they do to people behind bars and they treat the Faunus even worse. I'm here for several reasons. Two of which involves you Adam. While the third reason involves what's about to happen. It's not everyday you get to see reanimation put to use. So I want to enjoy the show." Hazama said before Izanami spoke

"Phantom, the passage of time has weakened the bones to dust. You will gather the dust of the one I seek while I take care of the rest." Izanami said as Phantom appeared and started to glow.

As Phantom glowed, an intense wind had picked up and all of them were in the center of a powerful whirlwind. As the wind continued to pick up, a large amount of dust had gathered in one spot. When the dust and ashes gathered in one spot, Izanami started to glow and several small streams of energy gathered to the cluster the energy from Izanami intensified in light. This lasted for a few seconds until the energy stream stopped and a sphere of purple of energy was formed. The sphere of energy pulsated for a few seconds until it started to take form.

The sphere slowly changed shape to a form and after a few moments. The ball of energy became a female figure and as the figure took on a more concrete form. It is clear that the female of a Faunus. Once the process was complete, the female faunus body is now more visible despite not having any clothes. Which was quickly remedied when Phantom materialized a blanket from the materials in the area and covered the female. As the female was slowly gaining consciousness, her features were more noticeable. She has a shaved head with a dark-green mohawk. Scales on her body which are a part of Faunus traits and what stands with her is the metallic teeth she has that's barely noticeable as she's gaining consciousness.

"What did she do?" Adam asked in a tone that's filled with amazement

"That is the wonderful power of reanimation. Which in a basically means the powerto bring back the dead. Though since Izanami is immensely powerful, she can go a few steps further than anyone. A drawback is that her black eyes and lack of a heartbeat serves as proof of her reanimation. Though that's more of an attention to detail problem." Hazama said before Tock started to speak

"Ugh, whe . . . where am I?" The female asked as she was composing herself

"Tick tock, the croc has returned from the dead. Welcome back to the land of the living Tock." Hazama said in a gleeful tone.

"Who are you and where am I?" Tock asked as she was composing herself

"Who I am is of no concern of yours. The only thing I am concerned about is whether or not you can serve my purposes. Which is the sole reason why I have used my power to bring you back to life." Izanami told Tock causing the Faunus to think for a moment

"Back to life?" Tock asked in a questioned tone

"You're still trying to get yourself together so allow me to help get you on track. A very long time ago, you met an unfortunate end and at my insistence. This woman brought you back to the living." Hazama said causing Tock to remember more details of how she originally died

"That's right, I blinded the Grimm Reaper for my master and shortly after that I . . . ." Tock said as she rubbed her neck remembering how she died

"Now I remember, a hell of a way to go. At least I succeeded for my master." Tock said before Izanami spoke up

"I do not care whether you still consider Salem your master. I only care about whether you can serve my wishes." Izanami told Tock which surprised her

"So you know who my master is, then you also know what it means for me to betray her. Along with an idea of what she's capable of." Tock told Izanami before Hazama spoke

"Salem is incredibly powerful, but even someone like her have limits. Can you say that she has the power to bring back the dead?" Hazama asked

"True, but I know that things won't end well for me if I go against Salem. So you must have something really worthwhile?" Tock asked before she took a look at Adam

"Now who are you and what were you promised?" Tock asked Adam

"The means to bring down the humans." Adam quickly answered

"Since I can see you're a Faunus, I assume that things are still bad. I have respect for people who's driven by revenge. It takes a strong resolve to see it through." Tock told Adam before Hazama spoke up

"I see that your worried about your previous loyalty to Salem. So allow me to give some details to make things easier for you. For starters, it was my insistence that gave you the chance to come back to life. Also your first major gig will actually aid Salem and all parties currently present. It's been a long time since you've been among the world. So Adam will bring you up to speed." Hazama explained to Tock

"So I agree to help and I still live, if I refuse I will be as dead as I was earlier. Now that I'm weighing my options, see the obvious choice." Tock said making her choice

"Excellent." Hazama said as Phantom materialized two swords for Tock

"Just like before, but just to make sure." Tock said as she swung her sword at Izanami. Though before the sword got to close, Izanami used her power to stop the attack and brought immense pain to Tock. For a few seconds, Tock fell on her knees writhing in pain before it stopped.

"Wow, I see there's more to your power than bringing the dead back to life. I hope there's no hard feelings love. I was just testing you so I can see what you can do." Tock said as she recovered

"I am aware, killing you and knowing your intent will be easier than blinking. Consider this your warning, there will not be another. Even your semblance will not be able to save you." Izanami told Tock

"Working for two powerful beings, I think I can live with that." Tock said

"You will be properly brought up to speed for your mission. You'll even be given some advanced tools to help you keep better track of your time limit. Though I heavily recommend you start training. Since your habit of toying with your prey got you killed in the first place. Though with some training, your semblance time limit might be extended. One of the benefits of reanimation is that you are not heavily bound to your limits." Hazama told Tock

"Looking forward to the experience. I'm sure it will be as exciting as I expect." Tock said as she smiled showing her metal teeth before Hazama turned towards Adam

"Now as for you, I need to give you an update regarding the mission. Thanks to a chameleon turned rat, a lot of the hideouts of the White Fang were raided. Fortunately, enough White Fang forces have been gathered and there is more than enough Faunus for the plan that's in store." Hazama told Adam

"Why couldn't you rescue all of them? Many of my White Fang brothers and sisters are facing imprisonment due to the actions of the traitors." Adam angrily stated

"Don't forget that I still need to maintain my cover. If everyone is rescued, the authorities will suspect a spy and it will put me in a bad spot. At least with this, Atlas won't see you guys coming. A good number of them have already made it and if you play your cards right. A massive prison break can make the follow up act even more enticing." Hazama explained to Adam before he continued

"Which leads me to my next point. Since you're going to Atlas. You need to keep a low profile. Tock doesn't have an official record and if she does, she's considered dead. So it will be easy for her to blend in. You on the other hand have a big SDC branding scar on your face. Plus you are wanted all over the Kingdom for obvious reasons. Though your escaped was chalked up as a Grimm attack. One good look at you will have the authorities ask a few too many questions. Which is why I have something for you that will correct the issue." Hazama said before he gave Adam a chain, once he put it on, the SDC brand scar disappeared and his hair turned black.

"That is a glamor charm, when you wear it your appearance will change. As long as you don't take it off. Your disguise will be able to get past anyone. Even Atlas's top of the line surveillance." Hazama explained as Adam looked over his disguise thanks to the glamor charm

"So I need to bring Tock up to speed with everything that's going on and infiltrate Atlas and await further details for the plan?" Adam asked

"Yes and no, you do need to bring Tock up to speed with the plan and all of the world's current events. Though as for the plan itself, you need to infiltrate Mantle with the other White Fang members and keep a low profile which includes working in the mines. Mantle has a load of problems and a ton of people. So I doubt anyone will notice a few more. Though if you make a big fuss and bring attention to yourself, then your cover is blown and the jig will be up. You better hope that doesn't happen for your sake." Hazama said while showing his sharp yellow eyes.

"I see." Adam said as he looked at Hazama's eyes

"You and your brothers and sisters will be given further instructions when the time is right. Tock, this will also aid Salem so you won't be betraying anyone." Hazama told the two Faunus

"Very well." Adam told Hazama

"Got it." Tock said before Hazama spoke up one more time

"There is one more thing I need to say before I forget. Tock, please get some new clothes I don't want you to go to prison for indecent exposure and you will need more than a blanket. Don't forget my recommendation to train." Hazama said before Phantom teleported everyone away.

(Mistral Train Station)

After everyone left the house, Blake spent a good deal of time talking with Sun about various and random things while they were waiting. Once everything was settled, the rest of Sun's team learned of where he was and agreed to meet him there. This also worked out for Blake since she is also waiting for an update for the hearing regarding Ilia. Every second of waiting would have been excruciating if it wasn't for Sun's company and after a while. Blake and Sun saw Ilia approach them with an anxious look on her face.

"I will leave you two alone, Neptune should be coming soon anyway." Sun said as he gave both Blake and Ilia some time alone with each other despite the passersby at the station

"So how did it go?" Blake asked in a concerned tone before Ilia spoke up

"I have done a noble service for the Kingdom turning over various White Fang hideouts in Mistral and dealt a major blow to their operations. My aid in stopping the White Fang's attack on Haven is also acknowledged and my deeds have been recognized and I've been thanked for it." Ilia told Blake

"That's great." Blake happily said before Ilia continued to speak

"Unfortunately, even though I have done several noble deeds for the Kingdom. It doesn't erase the many crimes I've done against the Kingdom. Including my actions against both the humans and the Faunus. Aside from participating in numerous attacks, I have also willingly participated in the attack against your family. Though I have changed sides, there needs to be consequences to my actions." Ilia explained to Blake causing her to have a downtrodden look on her face

"You're not going to prison are you? Let me talk to Dad, I'm sure we can find a way to convince them to go easy on you." Blake said in a pleading tone

"I'm not going to jail and your Dad spoke in my defense. For my punishment, I will be on probation for 5 years. During the duration of my probation, I have to participate in all assigned missions and do community service. Along with reporting to my Parole officer, I will be placed under house arrest for the first 2 years. Also during my probation, I cannot attend any of the four Academies or apply for my Huntress license. If I violate any of the terms of my probation, I will be sentenced to jail for 10 years. All things considered, I'm certain that I got off easy." Ilia explained further to Blake

"5 years seems like a lot, couldn't they have gone a bit easier on you? I'm sure that if they knew they could . . . ." Blake said before Ilia quickly spoke up

"The term for my punishment was 3 years. But I insisted that they gave me more time." Ilia said which surprised Blake

"But why?" Blake asked in a confused tone

"I thought about your speech back in Menagerie. Your right, we do need to take responsibility. Otherwise, nothing will really change and the cycle of hate and destruction will just continue. I hate how the Faunus are mistreated, but seeing what I've become to fight that mistreatment. I realize now that it is not what my parents would have wanted. It was an accident in the dust mines that killed my parents. I turned my grief into anger and hate. Look what it did for me, I justified the humans mistreatment of the Faunus and went against what my parents wanted. I can't be sorry, I need to be better. So accepting the consequences of what I've done is a good start. It will also show the humans that we are capable of changing for the better." Ilia explained further to Blake

"That's really insightful Ilia. It looks like you thought this stuff through." Blake told Ilia

"I did, I also see that things are changing for the better. Relations between humans and Faunus have gotten better. I know it's not a lot, but this is a step in the right direction. Thank you for not giving up on me." Ilia told Blake in a happy tone

"It's fine, thank you for seeing the light. Just know that once your probation is over, I will help you however I can." Blake told Ilia as the two friends smiled

Jin was sitting down on the bench thinking about everything that happened. Alongside having to agree with story that was told. Jin is also frustrated with Ragna and Yang for keeping secrets regarding Raven. It is on the strength of Makoto that Jin is tolerating the secrecy and hasn't exposed Ragna or Yang. Though how much more he can put up with is a different question entirely. Jin does understand the need for secrecy, however doing it carelessly while putting many others at risk is reckless and will lead to disastrous results. Especially since little if anything has changed in a significant way.

"Something on your mind?" Weiss said getting Jin out of his train of thoughts. Once Jin noticed Weiss, she sat down beside him

"I'm fine, I just a lot of things on my mind." Jin answered causing Weiss to lay her head on Jin

"I know that things have been a hassle ever since we all reunited here in this Kingdom. With training, everything we're fighting against, along with coming up with a plan to get to Atlas and everything else that will follow." Weiss told Jin

"Can I assume you didn't leave on the best of terms with your father?" Jin asked knowing the likely reason

"More like breaking out to escape, but you did make a very accurate guess. What about your adopted family, can we expect any support from them?" Weiss asked

"Only if it benefits them in the long run. Though I was sent to Beacon to expand my horizons. It was also a subtle way of expanding their reach and influence. Me becoming the Hero of Vale and now the Hero of Mistral. They will be very satisfied and use that to their advantage." Jin told Weiss as she was in deeper thought.

"We haven't been able do anything as a couple in months. So I was thinking that once we get settled in Atlas, we can go out on a date and try to make up for lost time." Weiss told Jin

"That sounds nice. Though we're going to have a hard time trying to figure out a way to bring Ragna into the Kingdom. From what you've told me, his infamy is known to the nobles." Jin said causing Weiss to have a thoughtful look.

"I know, but as long as he doesn't draw attention to himself we should be fine." Weiss told Jin

"Your right." Jin said while maintaining his train of thoughts.

Ever since it was decided that the large group will be going to Atlas to secure the Relic had given Jaune a piece of mind that they will be in a secure location. This is good since they won't have to deal with overwhelming threats without any kind of help. Though what adds to his concerns is everything regarding Lambda and Kokonoe. Jaune is worried about how Lambda is dealing with everything. Since she is unable to talk to anyone who can relate to her. Even though he is trying to connect with her. It feels like there is a large wall between her and the world and he won't be able to get close.

You have a worried look on your face. Are you nervous about all of us going to Atlas?" Makoto asked Jaune which surprised him

"I'm fine, I just hope all of us makes it and nothing happens you know." Jaune told Makoto

"Getting to Argus shouldn't be a problem, Atlas on the other hand is a bigger problem since the borders are closed. Though once we make it, we should have an easier time. We'll be seeing team KKMT and an old friend. I'm sure Noel would be thrilled to see you again after so long." Makoto said before she noticed a guilty look on Jaune's face

"I'm excited to see Noel too, its just that I . . . ." Jaune said in a guilty tone before Makoto spoke up

"If your worried about the attack, I'm not holding it against you. I also know Noel isn't holding it against you either. If anything, I bet she's spending a lot of time trying a lot of new recipes. That she's cooking right now, which means she's hoping that people will have to eat her cooking." Makoto said as the color drained from her face at the realization of eating the dreaded food.

"If it means being able to see her again. I am more than willing to eat her cooking." Jaune confidently told Makoto

"I'll be sure to hold you to that." Makoto said in a teasing tone

"Now you don't need to do that." Jaune said before he received a teasing glare from Makoto

"Now Jaune, what kind of a friend would I be if I didn't make sure you're a man of your word. You can't expect Mai to eat all of her cooking alone so the pain and misery should be shared." Makoto told Jaune before they heard his scroll ring. When he checked to see who was calling him, he saw that it was an unknown number. In most other cases, Jaune would ignore thinking it's either the wrong number or spam. Yet in the back of his mind, there is a chance that it could be a specific individual that he is cautious of.

"Let's get to a quiet place Makoto. It's probably a hunch but I think this is that person I was telling you about." Jaune said causing Makoto to nod in agreement before they left to find a quiet and isolated place. Once they made it Jaune answered but put his scroll on speaker. A brief second later, the voice that came out is exactly as Jaune suspected, it was Kokonoe.

"Hello?" Jaune asked while motioning Makoto to be quiet

"I don't have time to waste so let's make this quick. Do you remember anything that happened after you and your merry band of misfits stopped Salem's forces?" Kokonoe asked in a tone that's more demanding than questioning

"I don't know what you're talking about." Jaune responded causing Kokonoe to get frustrated

"I would tell you to stop playing dumb, but that's more of a natural talent in your case. So let's try this, how about I ask your friend who's with you right now. I know her name is Makoto Nanaya, squirrel Faunus who is on the same team as Jin and Ragna." Kokonoe said causing both Jaune and Makoto to share a surprised look on their faces.

"It's just me here by myself there's nobody . . . ." Jaune tried to say before Kokonoe interrupted

"Were you listening to what I said earlier. I said that act of playing dumb isn't going to work with me. Did you honestly forget that I hacked your scroll with relative ease. Which allowed me activate certain functions that let me learn that you told her of our little conversation." Kokonoe said before Makoto spoke up

"Alright, since you know that I know about you two. How about you actually help us instead of yelling and insulting us?" Makoto told Kokonoe

"Speaking to you two is far from how I want to spend my time. Though in this case, there is something I do need from you two. Still, him telling you about me might actually be the smartest thing he did. Though given his track record, that is a very low bar." Kokonoe said before Jaune groaned in frustration before Makoto spoke up

"With the way you're talking to us, why should we bother telling you a thing?" Makoto asked Kokonoe

"Because one, unlike your headmaster I'm not stupidly putting people in danger. Especially since I know what I'm doing. Second, I don't expect you two tell me for nothing. So how about this, you tell me what I want to know and I tell you something that can be of interest to you two. Going once, going twice. . . ." Kokonoe said before Jaune spoke up

"Fine, we'll tell you." Jaune quickly said before Makoto gave him a questioning look

"Are you sure about this?" Makoto asked

"I still have a feeling Ozpin is hiding something. If this gives a chance to learn something that he won't tell us then shouldn't that be worth the risk. Besides, if she wanted to kill us, then she would have done it by now." Jaune told Makoto

"So you've actually grown since the last time we spoke. I supposed there's hope for you yet. Now tell me what you remember on the night you all stopped Salem's group attack." Kokonoe told the two

"After Salem's attack was stopped, we just went inside the house and fell asleep. We were all exhausted and needed our rest." Jaune told Kokonoe

"Yeah, after we got back to the house, we fell asleep." Makoto said backing up Jaune's story

"I see, it's just as I suspected. A classic memory alteration spell." Kokonoe muttered before she spoke to the two

"Alright, that's good. Now I need to keep my word. So how about I tell you something that I'm sure you will be interested in and it involves Relius." Kokonoe said before Jaune and Makoto looked at each other in a brief glance before Kokonoe spoke further

"Relius is a lot more dangerous than you all can imagine. I assume your teammates told you of their encounter with him?" Kokonoe asked

"They told us, I can never forget that monster." Jaune said as his fist balled up

"Well here is something you should know, aside from being the progenitor of the Murakumo Labs. He is also a lot stronger than he looks especially since he can use magic." Kokonoe said which surprised the two causing Makoto to speak up

"Hold on, only the four Maidens can use magic. I know Salem might be capable of it but there is no way that man can use it." Makoto said causing Kokonoe to speak up

"How short sighted can you be if you ignore certain possibilities. There are more people who can use magic than you think. How do you think Nine is able to do the things she did? Though aside from being able to use magic, he is also as strong as Valkenhayn." Kokonoe explained further which surprised Jaune and Makoto

"If that's true then that means . . ." Jaune said before Makoto spoke up

"He was holding back, when he fought our friends. But why would he want the Eye of Blue from Noel?" Makoto asked

"That's for me to know and you to find out. You can't expect me to give you all the answers. Until next time, try not to die." Kokonoe said before she cut the connection

"Wait, wait!" Jaune yelled before he saw the signal lost notice

"At least we learned a few things." Makoto told Jaune trying to reassure him

"Yeah, but that means we have more questions." Jaune said before the went back to the station.

After the group made it to the station, each of them decided to be in different locations in the station to not draw so much attention. This also gave Qrow a chance to think of a way to bring Ragna on board without drawing attention to himself. Since Ragna is still well known around the world as the Beast of Remnant. His infamy would make the journey more difficult than needed. Even though Lambda is keeping close to him, it feels like it's out of mission obligation than friendship. Especially since he still doesn't know anything about her.

A silver lining to this is that it gave Ragna a chance to think about the events at Haven. Ragna is glad that he fought and killed Cinder, yet something has felt wrong since then. Whenever Ragna would train to keep himself in top form, he noticed that he is able to conjure black flames with ease. This happened before when he copied Cinder's semblance, yet in the previous cases when Ragna would copy a semblance. It would wear off after a couple of hours but not still linger after a few weeks. The more Ragna thought about this, the more he realized he needs to be more cautious of his own power.

Adding to his anxiety is the need to see Jubei, Sister Celica, and Saya again in Atlas. As much as Ragna hated to admit it, Jin ensured Celica's and Saya's safety for the time being by making arrangements for them to be in Atlas. Though given how sketchy the nobles are, Ragna isn't certain to how long that can last. Another matter is what Winter and General Ironwood plan to do with Jubei. He can only imagine what is going on with Jubei, which adds to his need to get to Atlas as soon as possible despite his infamy. As Ragna was in deep thought, Qrow and his nieces started to approach him and Lambda and got him out of his thoughts.

"How did it go?" Ragna asked as he looked at the trio before Qrow showed the tickets

"The good news is that we were able to get tickets for everyone. Though in your case, there are a few caveats." Qrow told Ragna causing him to roll his eyes despite his head in covered by his hood

"Here we go." Ragna said in a sarcastic tone

"For starters you need to keep that hood up at all times. If anyone recognizes you then it will create some problems. Especially since the infamy of the Beast of Remnant well known." Qrow said as he pointed his thumb to a couple of kids playing

"Roar, I am the Beast of Remnant, I will destroy all in my way." One of the kids said in a playful tone before another kid spoke up

"I am the Hero of Mistral, I have come to put an end to you beast." A second kid said before a third kid spoke up

"I am Hakumen, let us team-up so we can fight the beast together." The third kid said before they started playing together

"I see your point." Ragna said before Qrow spoke further

"Also, since there is a decent chance you'll interact with the public. We got you a fake ID with a fake name." Qrow said before Yang spoke up

"Me and Ruby came up with your alias. Don't worry, you can thank us later." Yang said before Ragna looked at his fake ID and train ticket. After Ragna looked at it, he had an awkward look on his face

"Your kidding, first this face looks nothing like me. Second my alias is Enji Todoroki?" Ragna said as he looked at the ID

"I know that picture looks nothing like you, but it's the only thing we could do that could get past the scans. As for the name, you should be grateful for that. Because it was either Enji Todoroki or Jeritza Redblaze. I had final say and Enji sounds better and the last name doesn't sound like a reference to your coat." Qrow briefly explained

"Let me guess, Ruby thought of the second name?" Ragna asked causing Ruby to have an awkward look

"But your new coat has a cool flame design." Ruby said causing everyone to look at her awkwardly.

"Discretion is of great importance when travelling with a high profile individual. Such a name would draw too many concerning looks from strangers and ruin the plan." Lambda chimed in

"See even Lambda agrees, now let's gather everyone and get on board. The train will be leaving soon and we need to keep moving." Qrow said before everyone proceeded to move on

"My Ragna." A young female voice said that Ragna heard that caused him to turn around. Ragna recognized the voice as Nu's and as he frantically looked around. He couldn't find any trace of her.

"It's probably my imagination." Ragna said before he caught up to the others. Though unknown to him, a female with an all too familiar eyepatch was watching him from above and made sure to stay out of sight. The individual was Nu herself.

"My Ragna, I see you have a new outfit. It's only a matter of time until you are mine." Nu said with a smirk before her eye glowed with the Maiden flame a brief second later an individual that she's familiar with approached her.

"I can feel your anxiousness from a distance. It's a good thing Hazama asked me to keep an eye on you to make sure things don't get too crazy." Tyrion told Nu

"Do not get in the way of me having my Ragna. Unless you want to end up like Cinder for making that mistake." Nu said as she angrily looked at him

"Perish the thought, her grace cares a good deal about you and as such, your safety and well being is my top priority as well. Hazama will smooth things over with her grace. Though I am against you testing the paces of your new power. He did say that he will assume all responsibility. I just need to make sure nothing happens to you and ensure your safe return. With the added duty for me to advise you as it's necessary and this is far from the suitable place for you to fight him." Tyrion explained to Nu before she approached him

"I don't care what you do or say. But do not repeat Cinder's mistake and get in the way between me and my Ragna." Nu said while she was close to Tyrion

"You can do as you please, because my purpose is to serve the wishes of our divine savior." Tyrion responded

Hazel, Emerald, and Mercury spent a good deal of time staying hidden and keeping a low profile to avoid capture by the authorities. Once everything calmed down, it was decided to return to Salem since there would be little to no risk of them being followed. Though Hazel and Mercury remained focus on moving on and delivering the bad news to Salem. Emerald on the other hand is still depressed at the knowledge of Cinder being dead. Whenever someone would check on Emerald, she made her rage against Ragna clear. Along with her determination to go after his little sister Saya. Knowing that she's in grief, they decided to leave her alone. Especially since such a decision will invoke Ragna's wrath. As the ship they are on are about to dock. They see a large and muscular individual that they recognize all too well.

"Welcome back everyone." Azrael said as they all got off the ship.

"Where is Salem?" Hazel asked

"She's in the meeting room, she knows that you all have failed and is waiting on your report." Azrael said to the small group as they walked by. Though before they went too far, Azrael spoke further

"I see Cinder isn't with you, oh well no big loss." Azrael said causing Emerald to be visibly upset at the remark and decided to draw her guns on Azrael with a look of pure rage.

"Say one more thing about Cinder and I will put you down Mad Dog." Emerald angrily said causing Azrael to approach her

"Blind grief makes you angry and destructive. But it also makes you reckless and careless. As a street thief, you should know the importance of picking your battles. Though if you think you can put me down with your guns and illusions. Your welcomed to try." Azrael said as he stood in front of Emerald with a glare. Before anything else happens, Mercury stepped and pulled Emerald back

"Give her a break Azrael." Mercury told Azrael before they both saw that Emerald is losing the will to fight

"Fine." Azrael said before he stepped back and spoke further

"But I'm telling you like it is. Cinder's eagerness for revenge and the thrill of her new powers had set her on a path of self-destruction. The fact that you can't handle the truth, shows that you semblance suits you perfectly. I have respect for an individual driven by revenge. But if you're going to get revenge, do it right. Besides, I'm not the one you need to answer to." Azrael said causing the group to go further into the building

(The Meeting Room)

Once the group arrived, they were in the presence of Relius and his Crimson Nirvana, Dr. Watts, the Seer Grimm, and last but not least Salem. Azrael sat down shortly after entering and waited for Salem to speak. Hazel, Emerald, and Mercury bowed waiting for Salem as well. Because they know that they will need to explain their failure.

"We had everything we needed for our success. Everyone was in their proper places. Ozpin's forces did not know of us or Lionheart's betrayal, the White Fang would claim destruction and ensured our tracks were covered. We had everything we needed and more to ensure victory and the Relic. Yet despite an overwhelming advantage, you all still lost and were unable to secure the Relic. So explain to me, how you all were able to fail so spectacularly." Salem explained in a composed tone before Hazel stood up

"The Faunus militia arrived and . . . ." Hazel said before Salem interrupted him

"Stop . . . . let me rephrase the question. Who is responsible for your defeat?" Salem asked before Hazel answered

"I take full responsibility." Hazel said before Salem got angry and tossed the table aside before she approached Hazel

"I want you to tell me the truth. Not to shift responsibility! We all know who is responsible for this!" Salem stated

"I don't . . . ." Hazel said before Salem used her power to summon the arms of the Grimm to subdue Hazel. Once Salem got closer to the group, she took a look at the Emerald and started to speak

"Emerald, you know who is responsible, so tell me the truth. NOW!" Salem yelled before Emerald spoke up

"It was Cinder, she's responsible for things going wrong." Emerald said in a tone full of fear.

"Exactly." Salem said before the Seer Grimm came to the center of the room and Hazama's face appeared on the surface

"Am I interrupting something? I have a lot to report and I need to do it now." Hazama said causing Salem to return to where she was a previously and restored the table and everyone sat back down on the chairs.

"What do you have to report Terumi?" Salem said in a tone that makes it clear she is not in the mood for more problems.

"Then I'll get straight to the point, it's obvious that you know by now that Cinder's group dropped the ball hard. Which comes with the added detail of Cinder being dead." Hazama said before Emerald spoke up

"Because Ragna killed her, he can't get away with this." Emerald said before Hazama spoke up

"That's where your wrong my little street thief. Ragna did try to kill her and he came close to doing it too. Though it was by luck, Cinder actually survived. It was someone else that killed her." Hazama told everyone which surprised Emerald

"Who was it that killed Cinder?" Salem asked

"It was Nu, she was the one who killed her." Hazama answered causing Emerald to have an enraged look on her face

"First she ran off and then she killed Cinder?" Emerald angrily said before Hazama spoke further

"Again your wrong Emerald, Cinder actually tried to kill Nu due to her false sense of superiority. Nu defended herself and Cinder died as a result. If you all think I'm lying, I've recorded the whole thing and I have proof." Hazama said before an image is projected from the Seer Grimm and it was shown to everyone. As Salem looked at the recording, it was clear that Cinder attacked first and made it clear that she willingly and knowingly disobeyed a direct order to not hurt Nu. Though it was unfortunate that a Maiden was lost. It's more preferrable than having a liability. Though time has always been on Salem's side, she knows not to ignore certain possibilities.

"Why didn't you interfere Terumi?" Salem asked after she saw the recording.

"I'm not the kind of person to stop girl on girl action. Besides, Cinder made it clear that she'll do what she wants and made herself a liability. Since she's willing to attack Nu with the intent to kill. Then she's prepared to do underhanded actions to get what she wants. Which means she will undermine you in the long run. Is that worth keeping her around. Despite the fact that she's a fall Maiden?" Hazama asked causing Salem to think for a moment

Salem hated to admit it, but Terumi does have a point. From what she knows, Cinder altered the plan with arrogance and overconfidence and put them in a worse position than before. She also knew of the order to not do Nu any harm but did what she wanted anyway. Dealing with failure is one thing. Though dealing with those that will jeopardize her plans is a different problem altogether and presents a risk that's not worth taking.

"I see your point." Salem said before a voice angrily spoke up

"YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!" Emerald yelled getting everyone's attention before she continued

"THERE IS NOTHING STOPPING NU FROM LETTING CINDER LIVE! ONLY FOR THAT LITTLE MONSTER TO . . . .!" Emerald yelled before Salem used her power to restrain Emerald against the wall with a tightened grip and the claws digging deeper into her body. While Emerald was restrained, Salem approached her

"Watch yourself Emerald, it is because of Cinder that I am keeping you and Mercury around. Cinder had placed her desires above my own and has created more problems as a result. She even went further to prove her arrogance by disobeying a direct order that I gave her. Her punishment would be worse than death. So what will happen with you, will you be useful, or a pawn I will toss away?" Salem said as she leaned closer to Emerald and saw a terrified individual

"Your consumed with fear, that's good. Use that fear to help you think and clear your head. You can lie everyone Emerald, but the truth will inevitably come to the surface. So what will you do now?" Salem said before she released Emerald. And spoke to everyone

"Only through me can your desires be fulfilled. But you all must fulfill my desires and not put yourselves above them. Cinder made that mistake and it got her killed. Learn from this and do not repeat the same mistake." Salem said before most of the people nodded in agreement. Once she saw everyone settled, she spoke further

"The loss of the Maiden is a very unfortunate setback, we must press on for the mission." Salem said before Hazama spoke up

"I have an update regarding the Fall Maiden and it's a doozy." Hazama said which intrigued Salem before he continued

"With my semblance, I know for a fact that Cinder did not have anyone in her last thoughts. But I can 100 percent confirm that the new Fall Maiden is Nu." Hazama told Salem which everyone heard

"Nu is the new fall Maiden. That along with her half of the Grimm Aura makes her a powerful individual. It's like she's won the super-powered lottery." Dr. Watts commented before Salem approached the Seer Grimm

"Her potential is greater than I have thought possible. I am so proud of her." Salem in tone that is a mix of pride and motherly instincts. A detail that Terumi most certainly noticed. A split second later, she regained her composure and spoke further

"Nu's role for the grand plan has elevated. How long will it be until she returns?" Salem asked Hazama

"Yeah, there's a bit of a caveat regarding her return. Nu has to be out in the field for a bit longer." Hazama told Salem causing the pale woman to bare tranquil fury and radiate energy. Which was noticed by everyone

"Explain yourself." Salem said in a demanding tone while suppressing her rage

"We need to know if Nu can handle it. Tyrion wanted to bring her back to you but I insisted on it so the blame falls on me. This will also give me a chance to see how the Maiden powers can be used along with her half of the Grimm Aura. Sometimes you have to run before you can walk." Hazama stated to Salem

"Did it ever cross your mind to how big of a risk this will present to my ambitions? Your arrogance is on par with Cinder's." Salem said causing Hazama to chuckle before speaking

"Unlike Cinder, I actually know what I'm doing and I'm prepared for certain scenarios in case things don't go as planned. You have my word, Nu will still be safe. This will just give me a chance to test the waters of a few suspicions I have so that she can be better prepared for next time." Hazama told Salem causing the pale woman to think for a moment before speaking further

"You better be right Terumi for your sake." Salem said before she focused her attention to the group in the room.

"Since we need to press on with the mission, we need to focus on the sword that's within Vacuo . . ." Salem said before Hazel spoke up

"Ma'am, I have more to report." Hazel said getting more of Salem's attention before speaking further

"The kids plan to make their way to Atlas once transportation becomes available. Despite the closing of Atlas Borders. Also, Ozpin has returned and are leading them." Hazel said before Salem became more enraged

"He has returned much sooner than he was supposed to. Ozpin is the only one who can get through to the General. If that happens it will be a setback that we won't be able to recover from." Dr. Watts said before Salem spoke up

"Leave." Salem angrily said before everyone left catching the mood that was felt. Once everyone left, Salem took a few deep breaths and barely managed to suppress her rage before a voice spoke up.

"It's safe to say that you're barely keeping yourself together." Hazama told Salem

"I am in no mood for your eccentric acts Terumi." Salem warned before the man spoke up

"I'm not trying to rub salt in the wound, I understand your rage perfectly. The team had everything they needed to succeed and they messed up in ways that is legendary. Which is why, I have something that will be beneficial to you." Hazama said which got more of Salem's attention

"Explain." Salem said in a commanding tone

"Due to me being undercover, I've been working towards a few things that will come into play in the long run for when you inevitably target Atlas. Thanks to this recent update, it's clear you need to do something about General Ironwood. Fortunately, this means that the seeds I've planted are about to grow and bare fruit." Hazama briefly explained to Salem

"You want me to trust you with Atlas?" Salem asked in a slightly curious tone but calmed down from earlier

"Yes I do, when I do something I always keep my word and ensure success. For example, I took initiative for Vale's plan and Cinder was in a better position to act. I also know not to let my emotions and pride get in the way of my work. I admit I enjoy certain activities of my job. I still ensure that the mission is accomplished. Let me take the reins for Atlas and you have my word that General Ironwood will not be a problem." Hazama explained further before Salem spoke up

"You better succeed Terumi, because I don't give second chances." Salem demanded before Hazama said

"Thank you for your trust, though I will require a few things from you. For starters, I'm going to need Dr. Watts and Relius to come to Atlas." Hazama said causing Salem to look at him in a questioning glance

"Why would you need them?" Salem asked in a curious tone

"The plan has multiple phases and the first phase is for all needed parties to be in place to set the stage. After that, things are going to become much more interesting. Because if everything goes the way they need to, you will be in a better position than ever before regarding your plans for the world." Hazama said before he proceeded to tell Salem the entirety of the plan for Atlas which slowly but surely caught more of Salem's intrigue.

(A/N)

By now I have seen the recent trailer for volume 9, my expectations are still kept at a minimum so the quality of the writing might have gotten better. Also, I am confident of this much, however volume 9 turns out. It will be much better than Velma and in case someone says I'm jumping on the hate that show bandwagon. I stomached watching several episodes of that show to give it a chance. As a result I have only two words, "Never Again".

There are several events that occurred in this chapter that will set up certain moments for volume 7 and 8. You will all notice bits of it through volume 6 of this story. Also, I'm aware that I haven't answered all the questions I've received. So if I missed your questions about the story please ask and I will answer them. I am also willing to answer new questions as long as the answers won't be a heavy spoiler to the story.

The Tock that was resurrected in this chapter is the same Tock that killed Maria Calavera in canon. I have several ideas for her and I'm excited to make use of her character. There are several things preventing Salem from going ballistic against Nu. One of them is that it is clear that it was self defense and that the Fall Maiden powers has transferred to Nu. Another reason which is a big one is that Salem has a motherly attachment to Nu due to a lot of their shared experiences in life. Which unfortunately, Terumi suspected and will make use of.

As for Terumi's plan for Atlas, I don't want to give too much away but I will say this, it's going to be intense.

So read and review

Thank you
