Revealing the life in Foosha for our favourite duo.
Hi HollowSea here~
Another update for my loyal readers hahaha. This chapter feels a little like a filler. I swear I am going as fast as I could, I don't want to skip too much but at the same time I don't like to write too much details in this period cause it'll be boring and draggy.
Anyway, I hope you'll love this still.
Chapter 5 ~ Cool Blue and Grey
Just as Garp promised, he sent them money every 3 months. But once Ace was older and able to at least support his own head, Luffy worked anyway to earn more. The siren had begun wrapping bandages around the lower part of his face instead of his eyes, since the villagers of the east blue might think it was odd, and make him stand out instead. Besides, he was in the weakest seas, he wasn't that worried about people seeing his eyes as much as before. Though it still attracted much attention.
Over time, he used the money he earned to pamper the little baby, buying clothes for himself and Ace, mostly Ace. Other than that, he also stocked up on nutritious baby foods, other baby necessities, and a huge carpet.
The carpet was laid on the large empty area for the baby to roll around safely, Luffy also baby-proofed the house from sharp edges, and blocked the stairs. Even got a baby chair for the counter table at home. The raven had also bought baby straps, and had taken to carrying Ace everywhere on his back, even when he worked.
So here he was, carrying an impossible amount of firewoods in both his arms with Ace looking around curiously on his back. At first, the villagers were cautious and even scared of him, making it hard for Luffy to get a job. But after a month or two, the whole village had slowly warmed up to the two raven staying at the edge of the forest. Known as the quiet, pretty blue-eyed and the excited, little grey-eyed, who were always stuck together.
Unknown to Luffy himself, he had also warmed to the villagers. His tiny kindness grew as he shared it by helping the villagers, who would sometimes offer him food or help. Especially the green haired barmaid and owner of Party's bar, Makino-san.
He had gotten close to Makino after working for her in her bar, which was crowded on weekends. Sometimes, he would even sing in the bar, using the songs he heard all over the world and Rouge's songs.
Being a sea deity, a siren, he was known for his enchanting voice that was rumoured to be able to seduce sailors, even to their deaths. But of course it was a myth exaggerated by humans overtime, especially those that feared him. Here it only attracted customers.
But everyone knows, his songs were always accompanied with happy babbles and the clapping of a baby on his back. And those who were watching would be graced with the sight of those cold blue eyes softening and smiling (since his lips would be covered; how he sang with it covered is a mystery).
Makino had once offered to take care of Ace when he's working, and while Luffy didn't want to leave the little raven with anyone, he agreed, because some of his jobs were quite vigorous. However, Ace had cried non-stop after he woke up with her, until Makino found Luffy and passed him over. Ace instantly stopped crying and giggled when Luffy kissed his tiny head through the bandages.
Over time, everyone had grown quite attached to the duo, and started referring to Luffy as Ace's father, even mother occasionally. However, when they asked where he was from, Luffy would always avoid answering by saying nowhere or somewhere.
After Luffy began taking care of Ace, he hadn't had the chance to go to the ocean, and it had been calling to him everyday.
So, once Ace was six months old, able to crawl and hopefully has a stronger immune system, Luffy brought him to the ocean to soak.
Once they reached the beach, he could hear the ocean sing in happiness. Tides rising to reach Luffy's feet, while he carried Ace.
"Hey old friend," Luffy said, to no one but the wide blue ocean, "this is little Ace."
Luffy lowered Ace slowly, holding his hands as support so he wouldn't fall.
The baby giggled and wriggled its toes at the new texture of sand. Looking towards the sea, and laughing every time the waves touch his chubby feet.
Luffy sat down closer to the sea, not minding the sea water soaking his clothes. He laid down and allowed the tides to wash over him, while Ace laid on top of him, occasionally getting soaked on his feet. It feels like coming home to the deity.
Once the sun sets, Luffy quickly wiped the baby dry with the towels he brought. Ace waved at the ocean when a huge green sea king rose up.
'How interesting, a sea king on a small east blue island,' Luffy thought.
'Umi-sama, what brings you to the humble east blue?' The sea king asked.
Luffy nods his head down a little in greeting, "this little one here," the raven said, bouncing the baby in his arms a little, "it seems he's excited to see you."
'He's not scared, what an interesting baby,' The creature said as it got closer, Luffy obliged, walking closer. The sea king wouldn't dare to harm anyone under his protection, after all.
Once within reach, Ace started petting (maybe more patting) the sea king's snout, laughing excitedly.
"Why did you stay here?" Luffy asked kindly, he had always been close to the sea creatures. He had been living in the sea and could be the sea itself, after all.
'It's calmer, but since Umi-sama's here, I would love to be a guardian,' the creature offered, bowing its head.
"You don't need to, just do what you want," the raven said, "I must leave now, the baby's getting hungry."
'Sure, goshujin-sama,' it said and dived back into its domain.
It seems like little Ace loves the ocean too, well the ocean loves him back. Luffy would need to teach him how to swim in the future.
Today marked almost a year since the brothers arrived, and was also Ace's birthday, January first. They were in Luffy's house, where he was baking an unsweetened banana cake for Ace. Makino and Mayor Woop Slap were the only ones there, since he only trusts a small group of people.
The green haired barmaid was playing with little Ace on the carpet, where he was stacking blocks and then smashing them down, laughing delightedly at the same time.
"I can't believe it's been almost a year since you arrived here with Ace, Luffy," Makino said, tickling little Ace.
"Yes, it's been quite a while hasn't it?" He replied, finally taking out the finished product. "Thanks for coming today," he said, even though Luffy hadn't invited them. They had found out he was baking a cake and asked why, and he didn't see a reason to lie. Then they invited themselves.
Ace smelled the cake and drooled, being the glutton he is. Even as a baby, he could finish 2 or 3 bottles of formula milk. Luffy thought it was the D. in his name, those people had always been gluttons.
The little raven in Makino's arm began using her as a support until he stood up on his wobbly legs. The three adults in the room were watching with rapt attention, Luffy had set the cake aside in favour of sitting and holding his arms out expectantly.
The baby seeing Luffy's open arms began walking away from Makino slowly, a single wobbly leg in front of the other.
"Come here Ace, you can do it," Luffy encouraged, Ace had his tiny tongue stuck out in concentration.
He was close, when his tiny chubby legs finally gave out and fell on his butt. Ace looked frustrated and began to whine and tear up, when Luffy quickly scooped him into his arms.
"Don't cry, it's okay," the raven said gently, giving Ace an eskimo kiss. Distracting the baby from his frustration and eliciting giggles as he swiped at his nose. Makino and the mayor exchanged glances and smiled at the interaction. They had noticed that Luffy was a quiet teen with little words and even fewer expressions, but it was different when he was with Ace.
Luffy sat the toddler on his lap, lit a candle on the small cake and sang a birthday song for Ace, joined by the other two adults in the room. Laughing at Ace when he sputtered, spraying saliva instead of blowing the candle, while Luffy only smiled affectionately.
The mayor had given him a little tiger doll while Makino gave him tiny shoes, predicting that he would be able to walk soon. Luffy gave him a small red beaded bracelet, similar to the red beaded necklace his mom had left for him which is currently too big for him.
Included another picture of the updated cabin here, viewable only in Wattpad or Ao3.
Ik there's some things that may like make no sense, but in this story I am not going to think too much to explain stuff and just write what I want so yeah~ Hopefully ya'll can take things in stride.
I included an update of the cabin, I got this idea after the last chapter. Since the cabin sketch was so empty before, I decided it would be fun to slowly fill it up. So I'll include it at the end of each chapter when there's changes.
Till next time~
