Chapter 6 ~ Nii-chan!

Ace was 2 years old now, his raven hair was longer and apparently, wavy. Now able to run around on his own and talk, albeit still sloppy.

Luffy, on the other hand, had grown to look like a 19 year old, letting his body grow like humans, instead of retaining it after he moved into the village with Ace. He didn't grow any taller so far, still 175 centimetres. But his hair had reached his neck and could be tied into a short pigtail. His body also grew slightly broader, though it's still considered slim in general.

The toddler had learned to talk not long after his first birthday. Luffy was preparing Ace's meal while he sat on his baby chair, banging on the table. The raven knew, his little brother wanted his attention but ignored him in favour of mashing fruits.

"Pa!" Ace yelled, stunning Luffy. "Pa! Pa!"

Luffy smiled and almost grinned at that, approaching the boy. Brushing the baby's hair softly backwards, causing him to look up with a big smile. "No, Ace, not papa but nii-chan," the siren tried to explain, pointing to himself, "Luffy, nii-chan," he said.

"Ma?" Ace tried instead with a questioning gaze, causing Luffy to smile a little exasperatedly. Honestly, he doesn't know what he is to Ace but if the boy wanted him to be his mother or father, the deity wouldn't mind.

Though this was probably influenced by the villagers that kept referring to him as papa or mama, when talking to baby Ace.

"No, Ace-y, it's Luffy. Lu-ffy," he tried again, slowly.

Ace had frowned, confused and tried to say his name, coming out as, "uf-i, OOF-Y!" He yelled in victory, clapping his hands.

"Sure Ace, whatever you say," Luffy chuckled softly, amused, ruffling his wavy raven locks.

Now, he was able to call him properly, along with some other words. Luffy reminisced distractedly while he did his work, translating some papers from a foreign language that wasn't common in the East Blue. The raven, having lived for years, had extensive knowledge that was still stored in his brains, language being one of them.

A job he got from the Goa kingdom. He started taking jobs from the kingdom after Ace was old enough to not cry when left with Makino. Though he still pouts and gets teary-eyed when he leaves, and would be really attached when he was back.

"Lu-nii!" Ace shouted from somewhere, "nii-cha!"

It didn't take long for the black haired raven to pop up on the balcony, where he was sitting and working. He was bare feet, wearing his favourite orange and striped, tiger onesie.

They had moved to the larger room upstairs once Ace could walk fine and climb the stairs on his own. The small raven was very physically adept, learning to walk and run quite easily. He seemed talented in the physical department, the siren expected he would be quite a force in the future.

Luffy pushed back his seat and Ace instantly jumped on his brother's lap, hugging his neck.

The older raven reflectively hugged him with an arm until he settled on his lap comfortably.

"What did I tell you about running up the stairs Ace?" Luffy asked sternly.

"No wunning, cus I maih faw…" he repeated, sheepishly, "sowy, Lu-nii." (no running, cause I might fall)

The siren smiled, "it's okay, just be careful. If you get hurt, nii-chan will be sad."

"Ohay! I ont want nii-cha to sad!" The two year old slurred.

Luffy smiled again, ruffling his hair. "Why are you looking for me?"

Ace finally remembered what he wanted to do, and shoved his tiny clenched fist towards his face. Luffy raised an eyebrow at the action.

"My bacet boke, fix?" He asked with puppy dog eyes. (My bracelet broke.) In his hands were red beads and a broken string.

"Of course," Luffy said, carrying the toddler on his hips as he walked into the room, "let's fix it up."

Fixing it took a short while, resulting in a happy Ace. "I ove you, nii!" He yelled, hugging the older's neck.

Luffy smiled again, as easy as it was when it's for Ace. "I love you too, little Ace," he said, kissing his forehead, eliciting another huge grin.

Ace was happy, he loved his nii-chan. It's always been the two of them but it was enough. Luffy always made him good food, slept with him, and even played with him. He was the kindest person Ace knew, more than anyone!

"Bwahahahaha, your grandpa is back!" Garp's voice could be heard, probably a mile away.

Soon enough, the door to the house was punched through. The only reason he used the door was because there's no other wall beside the door, there was the kitchen on the right of the door. That didn't mean the door could survive against his punches though, it was changed often. The door never remained the same shape or colour for more than 2 year.

Luffy shook his head lightly, "hello, Garp-san," he greeted.

"JIJI!" Little Ace yelled, but still stuck beside Luffy holding the elder's pants.

"Call me Ji-chan!" The old man yelled, punching Luffy's head.

At this point he really didn't bother avoiding it, the old man was persistent and would literally chase him till he got a hit. Though the siren didn't hate it as much, he kind of liked being treated like a normal person rather than being feared.

Thankfully, he spared the two year old since he was just a toddler and Luffy won't take it if he actually punches the boy.

"Here, a late birthday present Ace!" Garp said in his boisterous loud voice.

The freckled toddler received the present only to drop it, but he sat and started tearing into the present. Revealing a thick, heavy book that says, 'Marine Guidelines'.

Ace looked confused, "wha's is?" He asked, turning to Luffy for answers.

"Seriously, Garp?" Luffy asked with a raised brow. He squatted down to help Ace pick up the thick book, ruffling his hair. "Don't worry kiddo, you're too young to worry about this, even I, don't want to read it."

"Bwahahahaha, my grandson must be a marine after all!"

"Are you staying for lunch?" Luffy ignored.

"No, I need to head back to headquarters instantly," the old man grumbled, "stupid Sengoku won't give me more days off," he huffed.

"Alright," Luffy said, passing the old man a paper bag, "it's some cookies I made earlier today."

"Oh! You're the best grandson ever! Bwahahaha," Garp laughed, hugging the teen, who seemed resigned to his fate.

"Lu-nii!" Ace's yell could be heard through the whole house.

The little toddler, wearing a red and sleeveless onesie, slowly and carefully walked down the carpeted stairs, remembering to not run on the stairs (Luffy approve and proud). Then he ran towards the kitchen where his brother was.

Luffy was his nii-chan, or sometimes he liked to think of him as his dad. Nii-chan is very pretty, he also has very pretty blue eyes, and his hair is tied in a short ponytail that Ace thinks is soft and ticklish.

Right now he's wearing another one of his white shirts, sleeves rolled just below the elbow, and black shorts. Then, over it he was also wearing a bright and frilly, orange apron that Ace had chosen, when they went shopping together. He loves that colour, it's so bright and pretty on his nii-chan.

Once Luffy notices him (nii-chan always knows where he is, even when he hides), he lifts him up onto his hips. Ace loves it when he does that.

"Nii-chan, nii-chan, beesh day!" Ace said, throwing his arms in the air.

Luffy chuckled, "yes, Ace-y, after breakfast," he said and poked his nose, eliciting giggles.

Ace hugged his brother, smelling his usual fresh sea breeze scent. But let go when Luffy put him on his baby chair.

"Here, your breakfast," nii-chan said.

"But, I wan pan-ake too~" Ace whined.

Luffy ruffled his hair, "you're too young to have a pancake, but try your food."

Ace pouted and looked at his bowl of fruit and yogurt, grudgingly scooping up into his mouth.

"Mmm! Ish nice," he squealed, and proceeded to eat more happily.

"Of course it's nice," Luffy smiled, he always took great care of what Ace eats after all.

After that, they went to the beach where Ace played with the green lord of the coast which he named Midori, because he's green. No one has seen this dangerous scene before because no one's reached this beach before, it's quite a private patch of beach Luffy found deeper into the forest.

Luffy swam with Ace and tried to teach him how to swim, but he still couldn't kick right. Not like Luffy would ever let him drown of course. The ocean would love him just as much as Luffy loves him.

He watched as Ace giggled happily, splashing about the waves, and dancing his made up toddler dance. Laughing every time the sea king huffed a water spray at him.

Ace inherited his father's grey eyes, black wavy hair and probably stature, but his mother's freckles. His smiles are as wide as both of theirs, forming a D.

Luffy turned his head up to the bright blue sky, "did I do well, …mom?" He whispered to himself with a small smile.

Unknown to him, Rouge smiles from beside Roger. "You're doing great, Luffy. Thank you."
