'Watch your step Dumbass, you'll make me look bad' Katsuki said as they walked through the gates into UA.

With that warning Izuku dodged the slightly raised brick and the boys headed together to examination room B.

The school was flooded with hopeful applicants, Izuku was mesmerised by the sight of so many interesting quirks around him.

The theory exam was ten pages of questions, gradually getting harder, from very basic algebra and grammar on the first page, to long form answers about morality and ethics within hero work on the last.

Both boys ran out of time on the final question, barely having time to write a dot point summary of their key points. Looking around the room it was clear that they were much further along then most people.

As the crowd of students made their way to the auditorium to here the rules for the upcoming practical exams, the noise grew as the chatter of teenagers filled the halls.

'Man, I can't believe they had us work out logarithms without a calculator', A yellow haired boy say.

'I knew my classic Japanese wasn't good enough, that better not be why I don't get in' another remarked.

Eventually finding their seats, they were greeted by the sight of a skinny man in a hero outfit with hair like a cockatoo.

'Kacchan, look it's Present Mic.'

Katsuki rolled his eyes, 'I can see Nerd.'

'Hey Hey Listener, Can I get a YEAAHHHH?'

There was an audible cricket chirping, likely from an unfortunately nervous looking mutant quirk.

'That's alright little listeners. As you'll see on your pamphlets you will take part in a two minute battle trial. There are three types of enemies worth 1,2 and 3 points respectively. Your job is to destroy, disable or dismantle as many of those bad boys as you can. This is a hero school though, any action you take that directly or indirectly causes harm to another student will see you disqualified and depending on the incident villian charges may be laid against you.'

At this point a stiff looking blue haired boy jerked upright with his arm straight up.

'Just hang on a sec little listener, interrupting while the On Air sign is glowing is a no go.' Present Mic responded, 'there's one more enemy type out there worth a big fat zero points, it acts just as a distraction so you're better off avoiding it.'

At this the blue haired teen slowly lowered himself down and seemed to shrink in on himself.

'Now, any questions?' Mic paused, 'Well if that's it, hop on the buses marked on your seat and head to the battle grounds.'

Izuku was slightly saddened when Katsuki split off to go to his own bus, he had been looking forward to showing off his latest creation.

Shrugging his shoulders he made his way to his own battle centre.

Towering gates stood before him and the other students at his site. Mentally preparing himself, Izuku did some light stretches and bounced on the balls of his feet to warm up.

'GO'

...

...

Izuku sprung forward, leading his group towards the gates, Katsuki had used that too many times in their spars for him to fall for it again.

Cycling through his options he decided to conserve his energy slightly. As he crossed into the city proper a missile was immediately fired at him from a 3 pointer, with a tsk Izuku clicked his fingers.

The subsonic missile immediately returned back into the firing tube mounted to the 3 pointer's shoulder, detonating its charge and the others in the pod.

Elated with his quick success Izuku continued to run forward, but was immediately passed by a navy blue and white blur as the stiff team from earlier rocketed past him

'Seems to have exhaust pipes in his legs, maybe from the Iida family.' Izuku remarked to himself as he continued away from the main street.

He adopted a simple pattern, use recall on 3 pointers, use ultrahand to make weapons for 1 or 2 pointers. The lack of missile on the 1 and 2 pointers while making them "less dangerous" also gave Izuku less ammunition unfortunately, so he had to stick to the tried and true method of whacking with heavy things.

He ran down the street a ball of broken stuck together robots suspended above him, coming across a pair of 1 pointers he simply dropped the ball from above them. On their single wheel they didn't have the turning speed to avoid the falling scrap and ended up joint the hunk of metal.

'42 isn't bad, just got to keep it up' Izuku muttered.

Rounding a corner he saw a purple haired teen struggling to fight off a 2 pointer with a broken road sign. The sign just wasn't doing damage, Izuku immediately felt for the guy. It seemed he either didnt have a quirk or he couldn't use it for whatever reason.

With his resolve firmed, Izuku jumped forward pushing the purple teen out of the way of a punch thrown by a 1 pointer that had stuck up behind him. He snatched the road sign from the teen and quickly used Fuze to attach one of the scorpion like tails from the 2 pointers to the pole.

He handed it back to the teen who's eyebrows shot up when he felt no change in the weight of his weapon.

The teens mouth grew into a toothy grin as he roared a challenge at the bots before attacking them with abandon.

Izuku pleased that the teen seemed to be holding his own now headed back to the main street. He was fairly co fident he had enough points to pass, but Katsuki would be passed if Izuku didn't give him a challenge for first place.

At this time Izuku heard dust and broken bits of concrete begin to rain down from the buildings around him. A tremor ran through his entire body, he assumed an earthquake at first but instead of pulses it was a constant vibration and it was getting stronger.

The 0 pointer toward above the tallest begin within the faux city. Easily head and shoulder above it. The enormous tank tread feet stretched the entire width of the 6 lane road. It swung its arms and cleaved through a medium sized apartment building with ease.

As the rubble rained down the dust filled the air, the only thing visible were the glowing lenses that seemed to stare at every student there.

There was a rush as a stampede of examinees sprinted away from the robot, uncaring about the others in their way, they were gripped by primal fear.

Izuku was momentarily gripped by the same.

'Help'

Izuku was moving before he realised what he heard, a quiet cry from the direction where the rubble had fallen.

He rushed into the dust cloud, eventually locating a round faced, brown haired girl with her leg trapped under a large chuck of concrete.

He was small and weak, his arm was trapped and he was going to drown. It was too heavy, HE COULDNT MOVE, THE WATER WAS COMING. HE WAS GOING TO DROWN. Izuku fell to the ground and curled in the foetal position.

"IZUKU" Rauru's voice yelled from inside his brain.

Snapping back into focus, Izuku looked up and saw the looming form of the 0 pointer, glancing to the side, it seemed the girl had a gravity quirk that let her lift the concrete, her leg was clearly snapped however.

The purple haired teen from earlier rushed to the pair.

'Take her I'll slow it down' Izuku said. Trying to look and sound as brave as he could, made difficult by the fact he was shaking and had tears streaking down his face.

The purple teen picked up the brown girl, throwing her arm around his shoulders. Hobbling away as quickly as he could.

'SOMEBODY, ANYBODY HELP' Ziuku heard him call.

Izuku faced down the 0 pointer, he'd never felt so small as the behemoth gazed down at him. It cooked back its bus sized fist to end him.

Izuku focussed on his purple rune and dialled up fis most destructive favourite.

Fifty cannons mounted to a wall might not look like much but they sure were effective.

The first salvo launched punching into the chest of the 0 pointer and decimating it's armour, the second pentrated into the interior. The third cleared through to the other side.

Izuku had collapsed as soon as the broadside took shape, all he could do was struggle to hold his eyes open until the robot fell, with the first blast his stomach ached with hunger, the second blast was agony, the third sent him into oblivion.

The purple haired teen was hurrying away from the killer death robot, he called and screamed until his voice went hoarse. As he passed an alley he saw a teen with pointed nails that seemed to be hiding from the 0 pointer.

'Help me take her, she needs medical attention'

'No way man, this place is crazy. Take her yourself' as the teen pushed the pair.

Unstable due to her broken angle the brown haired girl collapsed, pulling the purple teen with her.

'God dammit, just help us'

'No ...'

The sharp clawed teen stopped speaking suddenly, then with calm precise motions helped pick up the purple teen and girl. Between the two boys they were able to carry the girl much quicker towards the exit.

The girl looked between the boys, before she focused solely on the purple teen, who was panting with exertion. She saw now that he had a road sign with a robot tail mounted to it.

'Thanks for that, this guy was being a real jerk'

'No worries'

'My name's Uraraka by the way. Nice to meet you.'

Laughing a bit at the obsurdity of the situation he replied,

'My name's Hitoshi Shinso, the pleasure's all mine.'

Izuku woke up on a stretcher being carried by two small red robots.

'You pushed yourself hard lad, have a gummy' a nurse shrunken with age said.

'Wow, you're the youthful Heroine Recovery Girl, can I get your autograph?'

Chuckling to herself Recovery girl merely nodded before directing the robots to take him towards the infirmary as she continued onto the next battle centre.

Katsuki stomped into the medical centre, 'What the hell Izuku? If you're in here then you better at least have taken out the zero pointer.'

Izuku grinned to himself, 'It may have gotten hit with a few fifty cannon broadsides.'

'HA, classic. Come on Nerd, you don't want to make Auntie worry.'

'So how many did you get?' Izuku asked as they walked to their train.

'Ninety something. Locked in first place for sure.' Katsuki said with a cocky grin.

'Well probably, but this is a hero school, I'm sure there's bonus points for saving people or helping others'

Katsuki stopped in his tracks.

'GOD DAMMIT NERD, I SWEAR IF YOU BEAT MY SCORE BECAUSE OF SOME TECHNICALITY IM GOING TO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF YOU.'

Izuku took off laughing.

'Get back here Nerd and take your beating like a man.'

'Izuku your UA letter is here'

Izuku bolted from his room arriving in their kitchen bouncing with barely restrained excitement.

Tearing open the envelope a metal disc thunked onto the counter.

'I AM HERE, to give you your exam results' All might announced as a floating hologram of the hero wearing a yellow pinstripe suit appeared.

You did exceptionally well on the written portion, scoring within the Ninety Eighth percentile, guaranteeing you a spot within our academy.' Inko beamed with pride at her boy, as her over-active tear ducts began to water.

'Now the practical, you scored a decent 44 villian points, which by itself would be enough to qualify for the hero course. That's not all there was to the exam though, we at UA always aim to reward Heroic deeds and so there was another portion to this exam.'

Izuku could practically already hear Katsuki's complaints.

'You helped save a number of other examinees, assisted some who were struggling and destroyed the zero pointer which was threatening an injured examinee. For these deeds you were awarded an additional 67 rescue points, giving you a total score of 101 putting you in first place overall. Welcome to your Hero Academia.'

The Midoriya apartment was flooded with a tidal wave of tears as Mother and Son held each other.

They could hear the distant yelling of Katsuki and Mitsuki. Katsuki cursing at getting second place with his mother cursing as she told him off, making Izuku giggle quietly.

In a different household-

'.. While you scored an acceptable 84% in the theory, you only achieved 23 Villian points due to your late acquisition of your weapon. That by itself is not enough to qualify, however as a hero school we recognise Heroic deeds. You were awarded 15 rescue points for the aid you provided to another examinee. That is just enough to scrape into the hero course.' The shaggy looking man within the hologram said.

His expression then turned serious, 'There is one other issue. The rules for the exam forbade any action against another examinee, you used your quirk to control someone to get aid, this is right on the borderline. That examinee shoved you first and so was instantly disqualified, however due to this you will be accepted under probation. Train hard if you want to survive.' The grungy man smiled evilly as he finished.

Shinso was overjoyed to have even made it. He messaged Uraraka about his success and then returned to his workout, pushing himself harder then ever.
