"Well after that quick break listeners we'll be jumping straight back into the second round. On the left is the construct creator and telekinetic that has wowed so far, Izuku Midoriya and facing off against him is the man who makes duct tape look weak Hanta Sero." Mic screamed through the sound system.
"Hey Midoriya let's make this a good one" Sero said as he shook hands with Izuku.
"For sure Sero" he replied with an equally large grin.
"BEGIN" Midnight called.
Izuku immediately reached out with his Zonai arm grabbing Sero's pants and yanking them sideways. Sero reacted quickly, launching a band of tape to the ground holding himself in place.
"That's not going to work on me so easily" Sero rebuked.
With a tsk Izuku threw himself forward instead, rocketing his body forward into a superman punch that clipped Sero's ear as he dodged out of the way. Sero continued to yank himself around the arena making sharp turns trying to be as evasive as possible, Izuku was hot on his trail however, for every move Sero made Izuku matched and closed the distance.
Finally deciding to end the stalemate, Sero spun into a kick. Izuku had trained with Bakugo for many years however, he was used to kicks much harder and faster and so was able to counter. Trapping the leg under his arm he used Sero's momentum to slam him into the ground.
Sero bounced up, releasing six strands of tape to overwhelm Izuku. In response Izuku clicked his fingers in rapid succession, all the strands immediately wound back into Sero's elbows. Using the temporary pause of Recall Izuku unleashed a flurry of blows to Sero knocking him down and out.
"Winner Izuku Midoriya"
"Yeouch, that looked like it hurt. Any thoughts Eraser?"
"It was an unfortunate match up for Sero, his quirk is well suited for manoeuvrability and capture, but in a close range battle without obstacles he couldn't stand up to Midoriya's versatility."
"Let's get straight into the next round, to the left is the spiky haired wrecking ball, Eijiro Kirishima and to the right is the living avalanche who makes glaciers look warm, Shoto Todoroki"
"Hell yeah Bro, let's GOOOOO!!" Kirishima yelled as he psyched himself up. Todoroki remained impassive, opting to glare at a burning figure he could see over Kirishima's shoulder.
"Begin"
With a crack and rumble a gigantic glacier filled the side of the stadium stopping just short of the stands, it's peaks reached high above the roof and glistened in the sun. Within the icy prison Kirishima had hardened fully in anticipation, once the ice had stopped forming he dropped his hardening giving him a small amount of wiggle room.
With this slight breathing space, Kirishima started to pulse his hardening as strongly as he could on and off.
From the outside it appeared that the fight had finished in a split second, Midnight was just about to announce the winner when a crack rang out around the arena. Then again, larger cracks began to appear, again the spiked tips of the glacier broke off and fell towards the crowd, but were intercepted by balls of fire from the firey figure.
With one last enormous crack the glacier split in half,on the middle Kirishima stood panting as each half fell away from him. The back half teetered towards the crowd, threatening to crush hundreds of people.
"SHOTO" Endeavour yelled, "I TAUGHT YOU BETTER", with that he sent twin streams of fire instantly reducing the mass of ice to mist.
The front half of the ice however fell back towards Todoroki, who was forced to launch himself into the air on a pillar of ice. He landed back onto the now ice covered arena unscathed, but was forced to erect a wall in front of himself as Kirishima came barrelling towards him. Kirishima's hardened feet had ripped through his shoes as his clawed toes found purchase easily by biting into the ice. He smashed straight through the wall only to be blindsided by a pillar of ice slamming into his side, he was launched out of the ring crashing onto the grass surrounding the stage.
"Winner Shoto Todoroki"
"I think we'll have to have another break listeners while the ice is cleared off the stage, please enjoy some of the side activities and we'll get into the second half of the second round soon."
Between rounds Izuku had gone to the bathroom and happened to overhear a confrontation.
"Shoto, stop this embarrassing facade. Use my power and dominate this competition, you will be the Number One hero with my fire. This rebellion only hurts yourself."
Izuku quietly settled next to the wall, he hated eavesdropping but he couldn't stand the thought that a classmate of his was being abused.
"I told you Old Man, that I'll never use your power. Mum's power is more then enough, I'll prove it to you."
"Foolish boy, I'm your Father. You will do as I say, see what your stubbornness brings."
As Izuku heard footsteps approaching he quickly turned away and ducked into the bathroom.
'Young Izuku, I fear for your next match.' Rauru spoke within Izuku's head.
'Rauru! We haven't spoken in weaks, where have you been?'
'I have merely been taking a back seat, while I'll always be here when you need me, I don't think either of us want for me to be present all the time. Now your next match against that Todoroki boy, I worry that his anger will cause him to be reckless. If his opening move for each of his matches is anything to go by, I assume you'll be met with excessive force.'
'I had been thinking that as well. After that conversation he's definitely not going to hold back.' Izuku replied while washing his hands.
'Exactly, while I think you could work something out, if you are caught by the blast you could be severely injured. There is one last power that is inherent within our arm' Rauru spoke with grave importance.
'Why are you only telling me about this now?'
'It's dangerous Izuku' Rauru paused to ensure Izuku took him seriously. 'The ability is called Ascend, it allows you to travel vertically upwards through material. The danger lies in the fact that if the area you are travelling to is not clear parts of your body may interfere and be separated. It also only turns you intangible for a split second if you mistimed it nothing would happen and you would be crushed. You also have your flight so I wasn't sure it was worth the risk of you trying it.'
'Wow, Rauru that completely breaks all the laws of physics that I can think of. So, how do I do it? I should practice before the match.'
'You will have to focus your Ultrahand onto yourself, envision the state that your constructs have before you fully summon them into being.'
Izuku by this time had found his way to a quiet corridor in the stadium and he had checked that there was an empty hallway above himself. Closing his eyes he imagined his body turning semi-transparent, he felt the slight wind blowing down the corridor instead of buffeting his side instead floating right through the space. Having focused on the image he then began to swim upwards, he felt lighter then the air around, after a moment he felt a contact on his head with something. It felt like plunging into a pool, no difference in temperature just slightly more drag.
He clawed his way upwards and like breaching from the ocean he felt the open air around him, opening his eyes he saw that his body was now halfway through the floor. He quickly glanced left and right, he saw a figure turning around the corner away from himself, peering closely he could see that they weren't moving frozen in time while Izuku moved. Finally his body emerged fully from the floor, he instantly felt the cool wind on his skin and gravity reasserting its dominance over him.
'Well done Izuku, I fear you have no more time to practice however. You were meditating for a good five minutes.'
Izuku cursed as he rushed back to the waiting area. Looking up he saw Kendo standing on the stage with a giant fist raised over her head. Peering around at the stage to try to work out what had happened in the match, Izuku noticed that while Kendo looked a bit roughed up, Tokage seemed to be entirely uninjured and there were no cracks or damage to the stage.
'Must have been a ring out. From what I've seen Tokage is too evasive to let herself be incapacitated, Kendo must have grabbed one of her body parts and forced her out' Izuku mused.
"Another excellent match, Can I get a cheer from the audience as we get ready for our final match of the quarter finals?" Mic hyped, "Now let's get this match going. On the left is the volatile teen, who puts the bomb in bombastic, Katsuki Bakugo against the man who has the power of hundreds of horses in his legs, Tenya Iida."
"BEGIN"
Both teens erupted forward, Iida swinging out a coat hanger to swiftly end the fight in one blow. Bakugo never one to avoid a head-on battle, he matched Iida's move blasting his arm forward. The simultaneous attack resulted in Iida's head flying back as his legs carried his lower body into a full backflip, while Bakugo followed through his swing.
He gripped Iida's shoulders, using his momentum to slam him face first into the concrete.
"Come on Four-eyes, I didn't think you were this fucken weak."
"That kind of talk is completely uncalled for" Iida stated as he pushed himself back up, "I'll show you how strong the Iida family is." Iida's engines flared launching himself forward, he jumped into a surprisingly dance-like series of kicks, like a breakdancer with rockets in their shoes.
Bakugo evaded or blocked each kick, each block he used an explosion to eliminate the force of the blow.
"OK, I've been nice enough, Izuku shouldn't get on my case now." Bakugo said with a devilish grin.
Catching Iida's next kick, his palm erupted ripping Iida's pant leg to shred and leaving his left exhaust dented.
"Flashbang", a blinding light leaked out of Bakugo's knuckles. Iida temporarily blinded was unable to stop Bakugos follow-up.
Bakugo squeezed the heel of his palms together, cupping his hands into a tight nozzle, "Nitro-Cannon".
An enormous beam of tightly compressed fire lanced forward, slamming squarely into Iida's chest and carrying him all the way into the wall of the stadium, implanting his body into the structure.
"Winner, Katsuki Bakugo" Midnight announced.
"Well I guess he did give him a chance to show his moves" Izuku said in an aside to Kirishima.
"HA, that was super manly."
