By the time Kagami and Tanjiro arrived in Asakusa, Tokyo, night had entered and day had left. When they first set foot inside, the city was extremely… overwhelming!

It was so heavily populated! Everywhere Kagami looked, there were people, people, and more people! All she could hear were the chattering, excited squealing, and murmurs of the people nearly crashing and crushing her in their groups. There were large, towering buildings with bright lights that illuminated the city during the night. It was as if day never left! The marketplace she and Tanjiro stopped in had dozens upon dozens of business signs advertising their store and goods.

What she also found strange was their way of transportation. People rode inside wooden boxes on wheels pulled by horses through the city, not to mention the other large wooden box with metal wheels screeching along the ground connected to lines from up above.

Then, right next to the city, was a bay decorated with a large tower full of water next to a large body of water.

"The big cities have come a lot further than I expected. It's nighttime but it's so bright out!" Tanjiro gasped in either astonishment or sheer fear seeing the overwhelming city they were trapped in.

Tanjiro held Nezuko's hand tightly, who was falling asleep with every step she took, as the three of them slowly ventured through the city. They waited for the carriage on metal wheels to pass through the street before crossing, stared wide-eyed at the large building looming over them, gazed at the signs beckoning them for food, trinkets, and souvenirs, and ultimately felt uncomfortable at the sheer amount of people walking with them.

"Let's go this way!" Kagami spoke, suddenly out of breath, towards a dark alleyway.

Kagami and Tanjiro immediately screamed upon entering. There was a couple showing their affection for each other in there! In a public place! Kagami blushed at the idea of showing love for her partner at such an un-private area and turned around to leave.

"So sorry to bother you!" Tanjiro screamed an apology, turning bright red, before leaving with her.

There was nowhere for her to get a breath of air! She felt like she was suffocating from all the air that was driven out, or being taken up, by the residents of Asakusa! She was so used to being trapped at her home with no one else but her father to keep her company. She was too used to being alone with a large clearing of land surrounding her, give her space, movement, and room to do whatever she wanted! She ran, ran, and ran far away from the bustling city until she hit what she thought what were the outskirts.

The streets immediately became narrower and less and less people frequented them until there was no one left but Kagami, Tanjiro, and Nezuko.

The three of them took small, slow, and soft steps, taking in deep breaths, relieved to be out of the large crowd but still very dizzy. They came upon a wagon with no business selling bowls of udon. Slowly approaching the wagon, the owner, inhaling some sort of smoke from a long shaft of wood tipped with a tiny bowl, turned to them expectantly.

"Pardon me, sir. May I get a bowl of udon with grated yam?" Tanjiro asked pleadingly and exhausted.

"Make that two, please," Kagami added still feeling quite dizzy.

The owner looked slightly taken back but nodded his head nonetheless. "Why certainly. Coming right up!"

As the owner worked, Kagami, Tanjiro, and Nezuko took a seat by the bench stationed in front of it. Kagami and Tanjiro were fanning, groaning, and mumbling to themselves on how big that city was. Tanjiro, the small village boy, and Kagami, a girl who never met anyone before Tanjiro, were two people who definitely needed a break. It would be hard enough finding a demon in that city.

"Here's your udon with yam!" the owner called to them hefting two bowls.

"Thank you very much," Tanjiro and Kagami replied grabbing their individual bowls.

Kagami took a large whiff and immediately sighed out in relief. Nothing like a good bowl of udon to brighten her mood and fill her empty stomach. The bowl was filled to the brim with noodles topped with white rice, an egg yolk, and sides like green onion and a tiny serving of wasabi sauce. It looked just like how her father made it. A small bowl reminding her of her home and why she is doing what she is doing.

Thank you, father.

Kagami took a large sip of the steaming hot broth and moaned in delight. She went back in for another-.

The foulest, spine-chilling, and what felt like absolute pure evil incarnate wind menacingly, slowly, and softly blew through her body. Fear, terror, and absolute pure panic she's never felt before course through her blood. Her hands trembled violently, so hard that her bowl of udon crashed to the ground spilling everywhere, but she couldn't move. She couldn't do anything to stop the bowl from falling or breaking. Her body… just couldn't move. Her soul… it felt as if it wasn't safe at the moment.

Her wavering eyes turned to Tanjiro and she barely realized he was standing on his two feet. His body shook, his hands were clenched into hard fists, and his eyes were wide with horror. His bowl of udon had spilled around his feet but he didn't seem to care. He simply took in shaky whiffs with his nose and gasped loudly.

His breathing became erratic and shallow. His eyes narrowed down on the street towards back the city. Without a word, he picked up his sword and took off!

Kagami wanted to reach out and stop him, to grasp his haori and keep him from running off, but instead she just sat there. She watched her friend angrily, frightened, and shocked race towards the wind, the air, and the aura that has her paralyzed to her core. He didn't think twice about leaving her and Nezuko behind, he just wanted to find out the scent of that... thing that was walking and prowling in the city! He could get hurt!

She didn't want to get up. She wanted to stay in that seat and forget about that strange wind, but she couldn't. She must chase after Tanjiro!

Kagami forced herself on her feet, unsuccessfully swallowed the lump in her throat, before quickly taking off after him. The empty streets quickly turned into busy ones, the darkness lit up once again by the tall buildings, and the quiet area turned into a muttering chaotic mess. Her head darted side to side trying to find Tanjiro but turned up nothing. That was until she saw the crowd parting in the distance, some of them looking upset at being stumbled over.

Tanjiro!

Breathing heavily, fear still heavily running through her veins, she chased after who she hoped was Tanjiro. Pushing past and bumping into those in her way, she ran and ran and ran until she came across a horrific scene. Tanjiro had his hand on the hilt of his sword, his face a mixture of pure hatred and confliction, as he stared at the person standing in front of him.

Kagami gasped feeling the vicious, soft wind absolutely radiating off a man looking at Tanjiro with suspicion and anger. The man was pale, fairly built, and had curly black hair. He wore a black tuxedo, white tie, and white pants with a white fedora resting atop his head. His eyes... his eyes were a plum color of red slits! That's no man, that's a demon! Was that the demon they've been tasked to find and hunt down? Kagami doesn't know if she could!

In the demon's arms was a girl who looked at Tanjiro curiously. "Who is that daddy?"

Another horrified gasp fell from Kagami's lips.

It's... It's pretending to be human!

Even though Kagami could sense the hatred and frustration around the demon, it still turned to Tanjiro with a smile and asked, "I'm so sorry, but are you all right? You seem to be quite flustered."

A woman walked up with a grin, asking the demon, "Darling, is something wrong?"

The woman, the girl, their auras... they feel innocent and pure. They're both humans! The demon has a human family?!

The woman and the child had no idea the person they trust is actually a demon! How could they not tell? How could they not notice that thing they were talking wasn't a human being?!

While the woman and the demon talked, it dropped a hand, revealing deep blue claws, and slashed at a passerby's neck so fast Kagami would've missed it if she had blinked! The woman and the other people surrounding them didn't seem to have noticed! That demon was a menace!

The passerby, the man who got slashed by the demon, faltered in his step before suddenly launching at his wife! The once human being that was traveling on the street turned into a demon! He snapped his fangs on his wife, who screamed in pain and terror, as the entire street turned at the chaos in fright.

Kagami and Tanjiro immediately raced forward towards the scene, and past the demon who caused it.

Tanjiro ripped off his hood and shoved the cloth inside the man's mouth, keeping his fangs hidden and the possibility of biting someone else low. He then grabbed the man and wretched his arm behind his back, pinning him to the ground, as Kagami raced towards the woman, checking the wound on her shoulder. She was bleeding profusely and if she didn't get help in time, she would bleed out! Not to mention she might turn into a demon!

The woman tried to struggle out of Kagami's grasp when she saw Tanjiro on top of her husband. She screamed, "No, sweetheart! Please don't hurt him!"

"You must worry about yourself first!" Kagami exclaimed ripping away the sleeve of the woman's kimono.

She quickly wrapped the woman's shoulder, covering the wound, and then proceeded to slam her hand hard onto it. The woman screamed in anguish and pain as Kagami pressed harder and harder. The bleeding must be stopped and she'll do whatever it takes to make she and no one else continues to get hurt.

But they were making a scene in the center of the whole city! No doubt panic and fear will rise in every single person around them.

Tanjiro did his best to make sure the man—demon—was pinned to the ground tightly, making sure he could be of no more danger to anyone else, but how could that have possibly happened?! The man was just minding his own business walking down the street when all of sudden he was turned into a demon just by a scratch of the one Tanjiro had confronted, and the one Kagami could horrifyingly feel from all the way across the city.

Mr. Urokodaki had said only one demon could turn humans into demons, and that was Muzan Kibutsuji. The one that more than likely slaughtered Tanjiro's family-.

A horrified gasp slipped out of her mouth and her eyes landed on the demon man who watched them both with narrowed, angry eyes. Her body began to tremble and shake once more, his plum red slits landing on her face and a look of the tiniest recognition slipped by. He seemed angrier than before, but his face didn't show it. Only the eyes that held pure evil revealed his true feelings that were hiding underneath.

He—He was the one who killed Tanjiro's family and turned Nezuko into a demon. But why? Why would he do that to an innocent family? But, for Kagami, he seemed to recognize her. Why-? How would he be able to? What would she have done for him to notice and know her?

She couldn't think on it, not then!

Muzan Kibutsuji, and the paralyzing aura he had surrounded himself with, began to walk away with the human girl and woman!

Kagami didn't know whether to stay with the woman or chase after him! That's the monster Tanjiro has been training to chase for 2 years to reveal the secret of how to turn Nezuko back into a human being and stop the creation of new demons. She wanted to help her friend find peace, help his sister, and move on with her life as a Demon Slayer, but she couldn't find the strength to chase him. All she could feel running in her veins in fear and terror.

She hoped Tanjiro would get up and chase after Muzan Kibutsuji but he didn't. She watched him keep the poor man-turned-demon pinned to the ground and he didn't move. Clear frustration, anger, and pain was written all over his face. His head had whipped back and forth between the demon underneath him and the one walking further and further away from them.

A nasty scowl was set on his face as he screamed after Kibutsuji, "Muzan Kibutsuji! No matter where you go! You're not getting away! You can run as far as you want but I'll follow you to the ends of hell! My blade will be the last thing you see when I slice your head off! I'll never forgive you for what you've done! Never!"

Kagami was frightened of Kibutsuji but the anger and fury radiating off of Tanjiro put a different form of fear in her. She's never seen him like that, not during the 2 years they had been training together, or when they fought demons that hunted humans and tried to kill them. He showed some of them kindness, empathy, and provided light for their way when they met their ends. He prayed over their disintegrated bodies and hoped for a better life for them. This… This was a completely different Tanjiro. He lusted after the death and destruction of Kibutsuji with no hint of remorse, regret, or mercy in the wind around him. He knew he wasn't going to hesitate killing the monster who murdered his family and turned his sister into a demon.

Kagami shifted her eyes away from Tanjiro and gulped. Even though he did nothing, he still screamed his endless search for Kibutsuji as it ran away. Kagami… just did nothing. She couldn't move, she was absolutely paralyzed, and couldn't do anything. If her father saw her right then, he'd be so disappointed in her.

"What the hell are you doing?!"

"Is it another drunk?"

"Step away from that man, kid!"

A group of men wearing the same uniforms, with large wooden batons hanging by their belt and holding themselves in high esteem, raced over to where Tanjiro was keeping the demon tethered to the ground. Kagami could tell the men were a group of authorities by the way Tanjiro nervously looked at them and the people creating enough room for all of them to stand in.

"I can't!" Tanjiro protested. "Bring restraints to hold him down! Hurry!"

One of them grabbed the back of Tanjiro's clothing, screaming, "Shut up and step away!"

They're not listening! Why aren't they listening?!

Kagami stood up and walked a few steps forward, about to scream Tanjiro was holding down a demon, but stopped herself. She wearily eyed the nervous crowd watching them all. They were still completely unaware the man underneath Tanjiro had turned into a demon. If she were to scream, in the middle of a large city, there was a demon and it bit someone, there would be widespread panic. It would create an even bigger mess for Kagami and Tanjiro.

So, instead, she hurried forward and exclaimed, "Please, listen to him! He and I are the only ones that can hold him back!"

"Stay out of the way, girl!" another one had screamed at her, grabbing her from behind and keeping her arms behind her back, preventing her from moving any further.

"Stop it! You're making a big mistake!" she screamed once again trying to wiggle herself free.

They didn't listen! They wouldn't listen to them! They pulled, pulled, and pulled to free the man from underneath Tanjiro but he wouldn't budge. He was stronger than all of those authority figures combined but he didn't want to fight them, she knows that! He wanted to deescalate the situation but those men wouldn't listen!

"Please don't do that!" Tanjiro had screamed trying to free himself from their grasp. "Let me go! I don't want to let this person kill anybody! Stay out of the way! I'm begging you!"

Kagami gasped seeing one of them lift their wooden batons high in the air and was going to bring it down on Tanjiro. She swiftly slammed her foot into her captor's, causing him to let go of her and scream in pain, and she race towards him. Right when she placed herself in front of Tanjiro, arms wide open, protecting him, bracing herself for the impact of the wooden baton, her vision was suddenly filled with nothing but flowers!

Although, what she felt first, was their wind.

She hadn't sensed it at first. Not when she was in the heat of the moment but she did then. It felt of a demon's but it didn't have the same malicious intent as one. As a matter of fact, she didn't feel any at all!

Glittering and sparkling flowers swooped in all around them, covering every inch of the sky and ground, concealing Kagami, Tanjiro, the man, and his wife from the crowd and the authorities. She was baffled that she couldn't see anyone outside of those flowers but she could hear the rest of the city couldn't see them either! What the hell?

"Blood demon art?" Kagami mumbled to herself curiously.

She placed her hand on the hilt of her sword, ready to unsheathe and fight, but she found that she didn't need to. There was no indication that whatever demon had used their blood demon art wanted to harm or kill them.

Then, a woman slowly approached them from behind the flowers. Both Tanjiro and Kagami watched her suspiciously as she kept her back to them.

"I beg your pardon, but you said "person" … even though this particular person is now a demon. And you're trying to save him," she spoke softly, kindly, and gently. Her purple, wide eyes looked at them with astonishment and awe. Then, she lifted up her blood-soaked arm that had three long scratches running across it, speaking, "Allow me, then, to lend you a hand."

The wound on her arm healed in an instant! Kagami knew she sensed the presence of a demon!

"Why in the world would you—?" Tanjiro had choked out in surprise. "Your scent… I know what you are!"

The demon didn't seem fazed or bothered. Instead, she spoke, "You do. I am a demon, but I am also a doctor. I want to help, and I want to see Kibutsuji obliterated."

Her bluntness and honesty wowed and surprised Kagami. A demon willingly revealing their true identity and intent was a completely new experience to her, and to Tanjiro as well. She didn't hide her hatred for the same monster that killed Tanjiro's family and instead used it as an olive branch towards them. Their wide eyes and opened mouths had then shifted to the man behind the woman, staring at them with distaste. That's when Kagami realized he was also a demon! Just… how many demons live within Asakusa, Tokyo?

If he is standing right beside her, then that means they must have the same goals. To see Kibutsuji destroyed.

Kagami was skeptical, and didn't like the idea of following a couple demons blindly into a city she and Tanjiro know nothing about and do not know how to navigate, but they did just rescue them from a terrible incident in the middle of the city. The least they could do is hear them out and give Tanjiro a chance to find out more information on Muzan Kibutsuji.

She just hoped she wouldn't be making a big mistake by not cutting off their heads the first chance she had.
