Kagami gasped and quickly ducked under a sword by a Demon Slayer puppet, narrowly missing her head getting sliced off, and clashed blades with another. The force of their bodies, even if they were lifeless or unconscious and attached to threads so thin she couldn't see without the shine of the moonlight, were still heavy and powerful! She could feel her arms ache and her bones groan against the weight of the Demon Slayer puppet pushing himself on her! It took all her might to not fall off her feet! It took even more not to slice them down!
They were her fellow Demon Slayers! But their bodies were being controlled by an unknown and unseen demon puppeteer through threads so thin and so sharp they could slice through anything! The solution of cutting off the threads was only temporary, and an extremely short one at that, so they were depending Inosuke to find where the demon stood!
That was when he pushed his hands out away from him, kneeling on one knee, and breathed out heavily, speaking, "Beast Breathing, Seventh Form, Spatial Awareness."
Kagami watched in awe, dodging blades and pushing others away, as Inosuke was sensing or seeing something she, Tanjiro, and Murata couldn't. Their job wasn't to help him find the demon but rather protect him from the onslaught of Demon Slayer puppets who were unwillingly and unconsciously protecting their puppeteer. Many of them had begun to ignore the three and direct their attention on Inosuke but their threads would be sliced off before they could take any steps closer.
Then, Inosuke picked his head up, exclaiming, "I found you, you demon!"
"Nice, Inosuke! Where?" Kagami replied in relief as she sidestepped away from a blade that would've impaled her gut. She quickly dashed forward and sliced off their threads, watching their body tumble to the ground, only for the spiders to quickly invade them!
Inosuke pointed towards his right with his blade, answering, "That way! I'm picking up a strong presence over there!"
Tanjiro forced a Demon Slayer puppet away and smiled wide, cheering, "You are? Way to go Inosuke!"
His body glowed with giddiness and pleasure at Tanjiro's kind words but it quickly disintegrated. It was too late to find the demon because they had been completely surrounded by Demon Slayer puppets. Their swords were raised and poised to attack them until death! There was no way they could get around such a huge group!
"Why you!" Inosuke growled flipping backwards away from a Demon Slayer puppet's attack. "We gotta take care of these guys, or we'll never get anywhere!"
Kagami and Tanjiro faltered at the group of Demon Slayer puppets surrounding them and gulped. It seemed there was no end to them, and no matter what they did they wouldn't stop. The threads they cut, and could hardly see in the first place, would immediately be replaced, and there were too many spiders, hundreds of them, to kill in such a short amount of time. Killing the Demon Slayer puppets wasn't an option either, so… what else could they do?
Tanjiro's sword shook in his hand as he choked out, what Kagami had been thinking herself, "Isn't there… any way we could get out of this?"
Inosuke suddenly growled and roared into the sky, steams of hot rage and annoyance flowing out of the nostrils of his mask. "Dammit! To hell with this crap!" He screamed brandishing his swords and aiming towards the Demon Slayers with malicious intent. "What a pain! I'll just demolish them all at once!"
"Inosuke, you can't!" Kagami quickly protested meeting his boar mask with stern eyes. "There has to be another way! We shouldn't—!"
Suddenly, fast approaching footsteps hit her ears!
She gasped and turned her head to see a Demon Slayer puppet, who had a bloody fatal gash across its face, bring his sword down on her! She didn't have time to react, having barely moved her sword a few centimeters, when something moved out of the corner of her eye. They widened seeing Murata quickly stand in front of her and deflected the attack from her fast-approaching attacker.
"Murata!" She gasped seeing him hold off the Demon Slayer puppet with immense strength.
His hands shook, his arms were trembling, but when he turned his head to them, resolve was stretched across his face. "Leave these guys to me and go on ahead, Tanjiro, Kagami!" He declared.
"Big talk coming from the guy who pissed his pants!" Inosuke scowled at him.
Murata turned to him, furious to the bone, screaming, "I never did anything of the sort, you stupid boar!"
"What the hell did you call me?!"
"I wasn't even talking to you, so just shut up!" Murata added, much to Inosuke's anger, and avoided a quick jab from a Demon Slayer puppet. Their swords clashed again, creating sparks, but he quickly spoke, "I know that wasn't my finest moment back there, but I'm a Demon Slayer, too! I'll handle this! Now I know that I can cut the threads, and these guys can only make simple movements, so I should be fine! I'll watch out for the spiders, too! Those controlled closer to the demon must be stronger fighters! So, you three go on!"
Kagami nodded her head and raced a couple steps back towards Tanjiro and Inosuke, exclaiming, "Good luck! Thank you, Murata!"
"Stay strong!" Tanjiro quickly spoke before grabbing Inosuke's arm, speaking, "Let's go, Inosuke" and dragging him as he ran, Kagami right behind on their trail.
A muscle spasmed on Inosuke's boar mask, more steam of hot anger pouring out of its nostrils, when he watched Murata's figure get smaller and smaller. A nasty growl fell out of his mouth and he screamed, waving his swords back and forth furiously and annoyed, "Hey, let go of me, dammit! I wanna pound that guy's face in first! Who's he calling a "stupid boar"?!"
"Oh, shut up! Stop messing around and get out of here!" They heard Murata's fading angry, annoyed, and frustrated voice erupt from behind them.
Inosuke raised his fist high, holding his sword in a white-knuckle grip, screaming, and threatening Murata as they ran further, further, and further away from him, "I'm going to make you see stars when I get back! Mark my words!" It wasn't until the dark fog that trailed the forest floor swallow up Murata's image that finally calmed Inosuke down.
Well, not calm, more like forced his anger to be distributed somewhere else for the meantime. It was enough for Tanjiro to let him go and run on his own two feet.
"Dammit! I can't wait to get back and pummel that guy!" Inosuke growled out loud. The muscle spasmed on his boar mask had deepened greatly and the usual lop-sided stupid blue eyes looked as if they turned downwards in anger. Who knew a mask could emit and show such emotions from its wearer?
"Stop talking like that!" Tanjiro huffed.
Inosuke's anger turned on Tanjiro, growling, "Didn't you hear him call me a "stupid boar", Monjiro?!"
"My name's "Tanjiro"!" Tanjiro corrected with him an annoyed huff. "Anyway, are we heading the right way?"
Inosuke never slowed in his pace when he answered, "My senses have never led me astray. Although I—" He suddenly stopped talking and began to wave his arms back and forth violently. "AAHH! What are all these annoying threads?!"
Kagami looked down and realized threads were hanging off of her body! They were in the process of wrapping themselves around her wrists, ankles, and fingertips! "We have to be getting closer!"
STOMP!
They immediately stopped in their steps hearing the loud and heavy footstep that hit the dirt in front of them. It was like Murata said, there would be more Demon Slayer puppets trapped deeper within the forest!
"Another group," Kagami breathlessly spoke.
In front of them laid a large amount of Demon Slayer bodies. They contained fatal stab wounds, gashes, and slices. With a sword in the throat of a Demon Slayer dying next to their feet and their other hand wrapped tightly around the hair of another dead Demon Slayer whose left eye was gouged out, the girl, another Demon Slayer puppet, cried to them, tears streaming down her bloody cheeks, her body trembling violently with fear and regret, "Don't come any closer! Please summon someone of higher rank! A Hashira! Otherwise, I'll end up killing everyone! Please, help us!"
The three of them stood there, eyes wide, watching the poor girl tearfully cry for help, for them to free her, or run away before she sliced them to bits just like she unwillingly did to her comrades. Kagami won't leave her there to suffer! They went in with the thought of killing demons but now they must save their fellow comrades from a grizzly fate!
Suddenly, the girl attacked them so fast they barely had time to jump backwards!
"Run away! I'm being controlled, so my movements aren't my own at all!" The girl begged them tearfully. Her sword was slashing wildly, fast, and powerfully through the air even though it was nowhere near them! "I was never this strong!"
Her arms were thrown backwards so hard and forcefully Kagami could hear the bones of her back break! She dashed forward, as if she wasn't hurt or her bones weren't broken at all, swinging with no precision but so fast at Tanjiro! He was able to clash and deflect her blows, but Kagami was worried about the girl's body! She was broken, literally, and the demon didn't care that her "puppet's" body was under harsh and painful straining!
The girl was sobbing out tears of pain, agony, and mercy. She wanted the pain to stop, she wanted to be free, but she was forced to fight and kill her comrades, her brothers and sisters in arms!
Then, a strange rattling noise pierced the air. The same noise when they encountered Murata and all those other controlled Demon Slayers. All of them stopped moving at the strange noise and gasped.
They turned their heads to see more Demon Slayer puppets rise from the ground! One was dead but the other was still alive, except… his body was twisted and contorted in different directions it made Kagami gag! His right arm was twisted more than 180 degrees with his sword arm twisted downwards, his left arm was twisted all around palm up, and his legs were mangled so badly Kagami didn't even know how he was standing without screaming in pain.
His bloodshot eyes met theirs, blood streaming down his head and out of his mouth, as he hoarsely begged, "Please… kill me." He could barely get the words out but he forced out, "My arms… and legs… ah! They're broken and they're piercing my inner organs! Every time I'm forced to move, the pain's unbearable! I can't take it anymore! Either way, I'm dead! So, please help me! End our misery!"
"I—I…" Kagami stuttered as fear and nervousness dripped into her stomach, looking down at her unlit sword. She's never killed a person before, a human being. She's killed plenty of demons but… she's never had to kill one of her own people before.
He wanted the pain to end. His body was beyond help. She should give him the relief of death… right?"
"I'll take on the job," Inosuke volunteered racing for the dying Demon Slayer puppet.
Tanjiro quickly deflected a blow from the girl, Kagami clashing swords with another, when he suddenly turned around, screaming, "No, wait! We gotta find a way to save him!"
"Oh, shut up!" Inosuke screamed bending backwards to deflect the dying Demon Slayer's blow. "You… really need… to stop your belly aching! He's asking us to put him out of his misery, all right?!" He shouted at him pointing in Tanjiro's direction and dodging the relentless attacks. The dying Demon Slayer looked like he was in complete agony with every forceful and sharp movement causing yelps and cries of pain to slip out of his mouth.
The three of them grouped up once again, back-to-back, and looked around to see what could be done! Kagami didn't want to kill them, but maybe some of them are better off dead, and cutting threads off wouldn't last. What to do?!
All of a sudden, Tanjiro took off in a run, surprising Kagami, Inosuke, and the controlled Demon Slayers! The girl was forced to follow him, Tanjiro looking back every few seconds, and they both began to run in what looked like a circle formation!
"What the hell do you think you're doing?! Stop messing around!" Inosuke screamed as they watched him run.
Tanjiro skidded to a stop, turned around sharply, and pushed all of his momentum into one giant leap towards the girl! He tackled her body and threw her high in the air! Her body flew higher and higher until she was swung up and over a large tree branch. She tried to move but her body dangled harmlessly in the air, tears of joy falling out of the girl's eyes.
"Great! Looks like you're all tangled up, just like I planned!" Tanjiro exclaimed in happy relief.
"Nice one, Tanjiro!" Kagami praised deflecting another attack.
Inosuke beside her stood there like a deer caught red-handed. His swords stayed pointed upwards, his eyes staring down Tanjiro and his performance, and grunts of confusion spilling from his mouth. She didn't know whether he was confused, amazed, or in disbelief at Tanjiro's risky stunt. It looked like a mixture of all three!
"What the heck was that?!" He suddenly belted out. "I wanna do that, too! Come at me!" He demanded the dying Demon Slayer puppet, throwing his swords away from him.
Kagami watched, with a raised eyebrow and a mouth opened in confusion, as Inosuke happily, and giggling like a complete maniac with his fists pumping in the air, ran around in circles with the dying Demon Slayer puppet in tow. Then, skidding to a halt and turning around, he leapt towards the Demon Slayer and, with a loud roar, throw him high into the air. The tangled webs and threads were wrapped around the tree branch, forcing the Demon Slayer to hang harmlessly in the air.
Inosuke jumped up and down, laughing in maniacal joy, cheering, "Did you see that?! Whatever you do, I can do just as well!"
"Sorry! I must've missed it!" Tanjiro spoke up deflecting blows from a Demon Slayer.
Inosuke's muscle spasm returned in under a second. "You're kidding?!"
"I'm a little busy at the moment!"
Kagami rolled her eyes, having been racing in a circle, and shoved herself at the Demon Slayer puppet following her. Breathing in deeply, she screamed as she threw her attacker above and on her designated tree branch. Turning around, she huffed, "I saw it, Inosuke! You did a wonderful job! Keep up the good work!"
I swear, if that boy doesn't get praise for anything he does he complains!
"Ahhh…"
She turned her head and stiffened at the look on Inosuke's face. Her eyes widened and warmth filled her cheeks, her lips thinning into small line, as white bubbles of happiness, giddiness, and pleasure left the nostrils of his mask. The noise she had heard was the same airy throaty sigh he always breathed out at any compliment she gave him, or a simple act of kindness towards him as well as thoughts about caring for him from anyone. What a weirdo.
After a hard-fought battle of spinning all of the Demon Slayer puppets in circles and throwing their bodies in the trees above, Inosuke was laughing like a maniac and pointing high into the trees where many of their comrades dangled harmlessly. A lot of them had already passed on but few were still alive. To have even just a small amount survive was enough for Kagami to know what they did, and refusing to kill those, was the right choice.
"AHAHA! Check that out! I've tossed up more of them than you have!" Inosuke boasted as if it was some sort of game.
Tanjiro nodded his head, aiming his sword defensively at the last standing Demon Slayer puppet, speaking, "Okay! Just one more!"
Inosuke immediately stood in front of Tanjiro and advanced towards the Demon Slayer puppet with a strut. Kagami and Tanjiro exchanged glances, their faces contorted at Inosuke's weirdness, and watched as he tried to boast how strong and fast he was. "Okay. I'm gonna do it one more time, so make sure you watch!" He demanded pointing a finger at Tanjiro.
Rolling his eyes, Tanjiro huffed, "All right, fine! I'll watch! Just try not to hurt him!"
"Don't be a baby—!"
Suddenly, in the blink of an eye, the Demon Slayer puppet's neck had twisted all the way back with a sickening crack. A terrified gasp escaped Kagami's mouth and she trembled seeing all the Demon Slayers they have saved, seeing them dangle harmlessly in the air, necks twist and snap around with no hesitation.
Their bodies immediately fell limp, their faces turned upwards in the moonlight, while the three of them stood frozen in their spots.
"Dammit to hell!" Inosuke cursed. "That thing went and killed all of them!"
Kagami fell to her knees and felt exhaustion overtake her. But despair completely wiped it out. Her fellow comrades, her brothers and sisters in arms, were mercilessly killed when the demon realized their plan was foiled. The demon found them useless and couldn't let them live, even if it wasn't their fault they were tangled up and dangled by their threads. The demon decided to cut their life, all of their lives, short by twisting their neck so far and so fast they were killed instantly. It acted in cold blood.
Their hard work, their happiness of saving just a few Demon Slayers, and the thought of making it out of there alive with everyone, was stripped away from them. This demon was toying with them… and Kagami wasn't going to allow her comrades be a pawn of their game any longer!
Her sword that laid in the palms of her hands lit on fire, the yellow dragon burning and roaring in anger, and she stood on her feet. The despair that had plagued her senses was quickly consumed by vengeance, her grip on her sword white-knuckle. She will kill that demon and have the Demon Slayers, and anyone else who was slaughtered in the forest, rest in peace!
Tanjiro, who had knelt by the unfortunate soul of a Demon Slayer, stood on his feet. She could feel the hidden fury inside of him radiating off his body. His kind-hearted and good-natured aura was instantly replaced by anger and he was going to avenge their needless deaths.
"Let's go," Tanjiro firmly spoke.
Kagami stepped up beside him and brandished her flaming sword. "Right behind you."
"No arguments here," Inosuke surprisingly said with no fight. Perhaps he, too, was upset and frustrated at the death of their comrades.
All three of them took off in a run, racing for where the demon could be stationed, with vows to return and take the Demon Slayers bodies out of the forest to be buried in the sunlight. Nobody deserved to lie and rest in a dark forest that was plagued with violence and death for the rest of eternity. No, they were human and they deserve to see the sunrise and dusk fall for as long as they could.
The closer they got to the demon, the sharper her senses became.
The aura and wind that had been suffocating and intoxicating them, one that kept Kagami from sensing the demon's aura and Tanjiro from smelling their scent, began to lift more and more. She could feel the aura of the threads lining her throat, feel the sharp line that could slice her skin she pressed down too hard, and the demon's frustration.
Tanjiro began to sniff the air and his resolve hardened. Then, he gasped, "I detected two more scents."
Kagami lifted her face in the air and felt the wind blow from her right side. "It's to our right!" She pinpointed, the three of them quickly darting to their right, but she felt something else. It was malicious and disgusting. She could feel death reeking off of it.
In their path stood a large demon that towered over them with curved blades for hands.
"Inosuke!" Tanjiro exclaimed.
"I detected that thing before you did! I'm going to hack its head right off its shoulders!" He shouted, twisting his blades forward, and launched himself high in the air.
Kagami and Tanjiro gasped and quickly stopped moving, their blades readied in a defensive stance, when the large demon's entire body was revealed. They couldn't warn Inosuke what they were witnessing. They heard him let out a growl and large roar as he moved to slice its head off… but a grunt of confusion spilled from his mouth. He faltered in the sky and hesitated. It gave the demon enough time to deflect the confused Inosuke's attack and push him away.
When Inosuke landed on his feet beside them, he scowled, "That thing… doesn't even have a head!"
The three of them immediately jumped away from each other as one of its extremely large bladed hands slashed down right at them! The earth underneath had broken and crumbled under its heavy force, which would've instantly killed them!
"This thing's got no weak spot! Where am I supposed to cut it?!" Inosuke screamed in the air putting his hands up in fear. "AH! What do we do?! What do we do?!"
"Inosuke, just calm down!" Kagami exclaimed. "We just need to think of something!"
Inosuke was right, though. The neck was a demon's ultimate fatal weak spot. One swoop motion with a Nichirin Sword would kill any demon instantly. Except, it didn't have a neck but was still moving like it was alive!
"We can use the kesagiri maneuver!" Tanjiro quickly spoke up. "Let's try slashing from the base of its neck on the right side to his left waist!" He explained positioning his sword, Kagami following suit, to illustrate them slicing the demon's body diagonally. "It'll be tough, and it's a lot to cover, but I bet—!"
"AHAHA!"
Kagami and Tanjiro looked at Inosuke like he was crazy as he surged forward with no thought or plan! They had a plan but it was to be executed as a team, not individually! The demon was huge and had so much strength it could smash a person's body in with one swoop of its bladed arms. It was unnatural, and Kagami doubts it was a Blood Demon Art creating those blades. She bet it was sewn together with pieces of the spider's webs.
Tanjiro stretched out a hand, screaming, "No, I meant together! Not alone!" but Inosuke had already intercepted the demon.
They watched fearfully as the demon stabbed towards his head but he moved it aside fast, tiny strands of the hair on his boar mask falling to the ground. Except, three long cuts appeared on his ribs, arm, and hand. Where did they even come from, and how?! But Inosuke ignored them, ducking low, narrowly missing a horizontal slice, and jumped to the side.
He suddenly stopped moving.
"Oh, no! I forgot about the spiders! I can't move! I'm a dead man!" He screamed in the air fearfully.
Kagami could barely see the threads forcing his body to contort and hold in the air as the large controlled demon moved for him! Its large blade drew up and was going to cut him down into bits!
"Inosuke, no!" She screamed and darted forward with all of her might and strength.
As soon as she placed herself in front of him, her sword held out in front of her body, she grunted and groaned against the heavy impact of the demon's blade. The force almost pushed her off her feet, sparks flew all around her, the piercing cling of steel meeting each other, as the fire that burned on her sword flickered and reached out for the demon with a fiery hand.
The demon swiftly jumped backwards away from her when it saw her blade reach a boiling point. She swiftly turned and slice off Inosuke's threads in one swing, watching them catch aflame and the rest of the fiery substance shoot into the trees.
"Let Tanjiro finish explaining his plan next time," She huffed.
He didn't seem to have registered what she had said. White bubbles poured out of his mask nostrils and his body glowed looking directly at her. She didn't have time to blush under his gaze this time, they needed to kill the demon before it killed them all!
"This is a tough one, but we can do it! Let's work together, so we can bring down this demon!" Tanjiro exclaimed in the air.
"Damn you!" Inosuke suddenly screamed at him. "Don't go making me feel any giddier than I already do! This thing's in my way!"
When the demon slid his sword arms along each other, seemingly taunting them, it readied itself in an offensive stance. Tanjiro immediately dropped himself in front of the demon, Nezuko's box exposed in the open, with hand and knee braced against the ground. "Here! Launch yourself off of me!"
As Inosuke pressed down hard on the box, launching himself towards the demon, it had begun to slice both arms horizontally down on him. Kagami quickly moved around to the back side of the demon, her sword's flame glowing bright and brighter, and watched as Inosuke sliced off the demon's arms in one swoop! The blades fell harmlessly to the ground and Tanjiro pushed himself onto his head!
"Water Breathing, Fourth Form, Striking Tide!" He quickly screamed in the air.
Water poured out of Tanjiro's sword and slashed sideways! The waves, the flowing steady movement of the water, sliced through the knees of the demon twice! It fell down to its stumps, its legs and feet toppling to the ground as it sat there unmoving, but the threads were still pulling desperately at its body!
Kagami reached her hand out, her eyes piercing the demon's back, and felt Inosuke grab it. With a loud grunt, and pushing all the force and momentum he had built up into her, he threw her body high into the air with one powerful throw. She rose high above the demon and readjusted her grip on her sword. She allowed the energy to course through her body, her entire arms lighting aflame, and pushed all of her force down towards the demon.
"Dragon Breathing, Tenth Form, Flight of the Sun!" She screamed bringing her blade down so fast, so clean, and so hot, it was instantly engulfed in flames.
She landed on her feet, breathing in and out deeply, and dimmed the flames on her sword. All three of them watched the demon fade into nothing but black ash, though even that had disintegrated into nothing.
"We defeated it!" Tanjiro gasped out in relief.
Kagami smiled and almost fell backwards to relax, for just a moment, but Inosuke hadn't moved. He didn't say or do anything.
Suddenly, he jumped on his feet and raced for both Kagami and Tanjiro! He threw his swords carelessly to the side and tackled both of their bodies, engulfing them in his arms! He squeezed so hard she felt she was suffocating! She had no idea what had gotten into him! It wasn't a hug but something else! Inosuke doesn't do something without reason, even if the reason is as stupid as fighting people who threaten him!
With such strength and force, Kagami gasped when she found herself flying into the sky! The moonlight shined on her face and her eyes widened seeing the entire forest beneath her. Inosuke had thrown them up high into the air above the trees, but why?
"A scent!" Tanjiro exclaimed with a smile. "So, that's why you did that, Inosuke!"
Kagami lifted her head into the air and felt the sharp and powerful aura that had been lingering at the back of her head! It was stronger than ever before, and it was right beneath them! Inosuke was a genius!
The demon was right beneath them sitting on a large boulder, shaking hands outstretched with threads of webs shooting out of their fingers. She looked similar to the demon boy who had demanded them to leave his forest; She had the same milky-white skin, teal eyelashes and nails, and red dots decorating her face. Her eyebrows were white and bushy and her white hair was parted down the middle then pulled back into two thick strands with teal orbs. She wore a similar white kimono with maroon layered coloring. She must be a part of this "family" that demon boy must've been talking about.
Kagami and Tanjiro adjusted the grip on their swords, his blue water and her red flames mixing together, forming the powerful and scorching hot purple flame that burned like fire but moved like water.
They were going to end this once and for all!
The demon stared up at them, fear, terror, and horror flashing across her face, and her eyes wavering. Kagami could see she was debating what to do. She was panicking, but it was too late. Kagami and Tanjiro were going to sever her head and free everyone who was trapped inside that forest.
Water Breathing, First Form!
Dragon Breathing, Eighth Form!
But… the demon's hands suddenly faltered. Her fearful face that had been adorned with a cold sweat was suddenly turned to one of relief and peace. She lifted her hands gently in the air, the threads attached to her fingers falling off, and she closed her eyes. The aura, the powerful and dangerous one Kagami had felt, immediately shifted to one of mercy and regret. This… demon was giving up her life. She was surrendering herself to them!
Kagami immediately extinguished her sword, the purple fire instantly transforming back to its dissipating flame and constant flow of water, and fell out of the sky. She rolled to a stop nearby and watched Tanjiro readjust the grip of his sword.
"Fifth Form, Blessed Rain After the Drought," Tanjiro spoke so softly and so delicately it tore at Kagami's heart.
She had seen the water and the sword cut through the demon's head, but she didn't hear the slice of flesh or the usual scream of pain. The water that had flown out of Tanjiro's sword was so gentle, and yet she did see a line go across the demon's neck and through her head.
Kagami's eyes widened at the dark clouds that had parted from the sky revealing something beautiful and bright. The sun that had been gone for the night shined a loving spotlight on the demon girl, and the rain that showered on her was so calming and so soft. The sparkles of the water that shined and reflected off the sun revealed a beautiful rainbow that shimmered in their eyes. The demon girl looked… so surprised at how beautiful, warm, and painless her death seemed.
When her body fell to the ground and her head landing beside it, all she kept looking at was Tanjiro. He never removed himself from her gaze, or let it go. Instead, he kept his kind and merciful eyes on hers, to show her it was okay, and that he wasn't angry or upset at her. That he was only upset how she was turned into a demon and was forced to perform heinous acts against her will. She should've died and moved on as a human, but instead was transformed into a demon and manipulated into killing and torturing people in the forest.
No hint of malice, hate, or contempt were in those eyes. All Kagami could see… was pure kindness.
The demon girl closed her eyes, embracing death as it slowly disintegrated her head, but she opened her mouth, speaking softly, "Someone from the Twelve Kizuki is here. Be careful…"
A horrified gasped escaped Kagami and Tanjiro's lips. All the calm, peace, and gentleness they felt had been ripped away. It was replaced with fear, terror, and dread at the thought of a member of the Twelve Kizuki roaming the dark forest. Tanjiro quickly raced forward to her… but her body and head had already disappeared. The sun, rain, and rainbow disappeared along with her, leaving behind wavering confidence and determination.
But… a member of the Twelve Kizuki was on the mountain just within their grasp! Kagami, Tanjiro, and Inosuke will kill it and end the suffering on Mount Natagumo!
