The moment she woke up, Kagami's ears were met with shrieking and screeching. Except she didn't wake up on her own. She was forced awake by that horrible screaming and crying that plagued her dreams until she finally opened her eyes. Her head pounded to the beat of her heart, her vision extremely hazy, and her entire body felt sore to the touch. She was nearly completely numb and she wanted nothing more than to rest for an entire year… but the bawling from beside her kept her from doing so!
"Five times?! I gotta take this five times a day?!" Zenitsu shrieked louder than a banshee at the medicine beside his bed. Tears ran down his face, his body shaking terribly, and continued, "And I have to keep taking this medicine for three months?! It's such a horribly bitter taste! I'm not gonna want to eat a single thing after taking that!"
Kagami slowly rubbed her eyebrows, trying to soothe the headache that was growing bigger and more painful to Zenitsu's screaming, and looked around where she laid.
It looked like she was in some recovery room. Beds lined the light grey walls and only three of them were occupied. She had woken up before some time but she was in worse shape than that. She hazily remembers a tube being inserted into her arm following the flow of crimson red substance. It was like she was being injected with blood and it frightened her of what it meant. Her heart began to race, her breathing became shallow, light, and fast, and all she wanted to do was rip it out of her arm.
"She's going into shock! We need to stabilize her!" She had heard a girl exclaim holding Kagami's head down with her hand.
Her eyes shakily ran over the room to see it completely full of beds. They were all empty and she had been all by herself. What was she doing there? She couldn't understand what had happened. Was she kidnapped? Did the demon take her in alive? Was it going to eat her soon? That was until she saw the face of a boy enter her vision.
His short black hair tickled his eyes slightly when he looked down at her. He wore the black but dark-yellow tinted Demon Slayer uniform and he held a syringe in his hand. Without saying anything, he gently poked it in her skin. His black vacant eyes stared down at her but she didn't see any hostility in them. She detected no malicious intent or the want to kill. If he was there, then that meant the demon is dead. If the demon is dead, does that mean she was rescued? Was Inosuke rescued too? Was he alive? But what was he injecting in her?
"Her breathing's going back to normal," The same girl suddenly said with a sigh of relief. "The blood transfusion will continue."
Blood transfusion?
Kagami's heart suddenly slowed down to a soft beat, her breathing slowly entering and leaving her mouth, and the last thing she saw before losing consciousness was that boy gazing down at her.
Now, she is completely conscious. The tube was no longer in her arm and all that was left behind was a tiny scar. The two beds beside her were occupied with Inosuke and Zenitsu. She was so happy to see her friends alive and well, but wished Zenitsu was taken someplace else so she could have some peace and quiet! Poor Kiyo, one of the assistants, was shaken up by his crying.
"Zenitsu, it's just medicine!" Kagami groaned out dropping her hand back to her side.
Soon, Aoi entered the room with her fists on her hips. A frown spread across her face seeing the restless and insistent crying of Zenitsu. Her deep blue eyes with rectangular pupils glared down at him, her straight black hair parted down the middle was pulled into twin tails fastened by two blue butterfly clips, and her black but dark-blue tinted Demon Slayer uniform was covered by a white nurse dress with a blue sash wrapped around her waist.
"Will you please pipe down!" Aoi huffed. "How many times have we explained it to you now? If you don't stop this nonsense, we'll have to restrain you!"
They all watched Zenitsu for a couple more seconds. He didn't seem fazed by Aoi or her words. He continued crying, shaking, and acting like a big baby throwing a needless temper tantrum. With another large huff, Aoi walked away to grab the restraints groaning, "Oh, for goodness' sake!"
"Zenitsu! What happened? Are you all right? So, you came up the mountain after all!"
Zenitsu screamed at the new voice and instantly went silent, but Kagami gasped sharply. She recognized that cheerful tone and kind voice. She would recognize it anywhere! What saddened her that she hadn't heard it in a long time nor seen their face! She was beginning to grow extremely worried. Only managing to turn her head, her eyes landed and widened at the sight of Tanjiro! He looked so beaten up and he was being carried on the back of Goto, a member of the Kakushi, when they stood by Zenitsu's bed.
"Tanjiro," Kagami gasped his name.
Zenitsu immediately grabbed hold of Goto with his shrunken arms. Goto's face held disgust and annoyance, even if the bottom half was covered by a white cloth. Tanjiro looked down at Zenitsu with a confused look.
"Oh, Tanjiro! It was terrible! Just awful!" Zenitsu began to cry and snot all over Goto's uniform. "Listen to me, will ya? I got bit by this icky stinky spider and it really hurt! That girl's been yelling at me ever since I've arrived at this place also! I hate my life! AAAHHH!"
"Hey, stop crying on me," Goto groaned. "I've got nothing to do with this."
Tanjiro cocked his head at Zenitsu and hesitantly asked, "Did you get… smaller or something?"
Zenitsu pulled away from Goto and a long trail of snot lead from his uniform to Zenitsu's nose. Goto immediately recoiled at the snot but stayed put, his eyes wavering at the goo. Zenitsu lifted up his arms, demonstrating the sleeves of their patient wear hanging over his hands, speaking with a nasally voice, "I almost got turned into a spider. My arms and legs are really short right now."
"So that's what happened," Tanjiro nodded his head. "And the others? Where's Kagami, Inosuke, and Murata?"
Zenitsu shrugged his shoulders, answering, "I don't know anyone by the name of Murata," Then gestured to where Kagami and Inosuke laid, "But Kagami and Inosuke are right next to me."
Kagami weakly lifted a hand, speaking, "Hi, Tanjiro."
"Kagami, Inosuke!" Tanjiro exclaimed seeing the two of them laying quietly on their beds.
He fell out of Goto's arms, more like dropped by Goto himself, but hastily pulled himself on Zenitsu's bed. "Kagami, Inosuke, I'm so glad you're all right! I'm glad you're safe!" He smiled but his lips suddenly began to quiver. His eyes shook running over their beaten state and tears ran down his cheeks one by one. "I-I'm so relieved!" He cried softly, "I'm so sorry I couldn't rescue you!"
Kagami inhaled a shaky breath of air and let tears of her own escape her eyes. Seeing him cry for something that was out of his control made her feel terrible. "Tanjiro, please don't apologize," She sobbed clutching her bedsheets. "I was so worried about you. When you didn't show up, when you never came back, I was so scared something happened. All of us were fighting to survive, we were fighting to protect each other from the demons lurking in the mountain, so please don't blame yourself. I'm just so happy you're okay."
When Kagami and Tanjiro cried together, Inosuke didn't make a sound. Not for the first few moments. But they heard, a shaky, low, and painful throaty message erupt from his mask, "It's okay. Don't worry about it…"
While Goto screamed about the large snot on his uniform, Tanjiro and Zenitsu looked almost confused at Inosuke's tamed demeanor. Where he usually would've screamed, shouted, and berated the hell out of them, he stayed silently put and spoke no more than those couple of words. And even those sounded strange, deep, and lifeless.
"That voice…" Tanjiro almost gaped at him, "Is that really… you?"
"Apparently, his throat got crushed," Zenitsu softly explained. "I don't have all the details, but I heard he was, like, snatched by the neck, and when he yelled at the top of his lungs at the end, that finished it off. And now his throat is in really bad shape."
Tanjiro turned to Kagami curiously. "Is that what happened?"
"I mean, I don't really know what happened at the end," Kagami answered quietly. " All I remember is trying to save Inosuke. His head was grabbed and a second away from being squashed. One moment I was on fire and the other… I was snatched up in the air, the demon crushing every single bone in my abdomen until they shattered. It wanted me… for my rareblood."
She had lifted her fist up and made a crunching movement subconsciously. Tanjiro dropped in even worse despair at her description of what happened. She couldn't sugarcoat it and there was nothing else she could say to make him feel better. She didn't know how to make him not think it was his fault they were almost broken beyond belief.
To think it wasn't even a Twelve Kizuki…
Despite making the tension sorrowful, Zenitsu's cheeks suddenly went red and he snickered with a teasing smile, "Maybe he's depressed now, so he's been mellow, which is really funny."
Then, the most unsettling laughter began to erupt from his throat.
"Why are you suddenly cackling all weird like that? What's going on?" Tanjiro asked him with a gentle smile.
Zenitsu immediately stopped and nervous sweat poured down his forehead. It looked to have reminded him of something but they didn't know what. It didn't look like he wanted to divulge the information either.
"I'm sorry… for being so weak," Inosuke suddenly said grabbing their attention.
Tanjiro gasped, "Don't be sad, Inosuke! This isn't like you at all!"
"Yeah, there's nothing to worry about! You did great!" Zenitsu chimed in. Then, his head whipped back and forth frantically, screaming at the top of his lungs, "AHHH! Wait! Did I take my morning medicine?! Did you see me take it?! Did anybody see me take it?! Anyone?!"
Kagami shifted her head towards Inosuke and noticed the ears of his boar mask flopped downwards. Once again, he didn't move or say anything else. He just laid there on his bed showing melancholy and didn't bother to turn his head once towards them. She wished she could comfort him, but didn't know how. Surely, he was upset he couldn't defeat the demon, that he got snatched, and got Kagami caught in the process. Except, it wasn't his fault. None of it was. They did all they could to survive and the demon was far too powerful.
She wanted to get out of her bed and join Inosuke's side. The urge to slip out from underneath her sheet and crawl to him, to place her hand in his, and place a small kiss on the side of his mask was becoming much too powerful. She wanted to, badly, but her body protested greatly. Every single part of her muscles and even her head begged her not to move more than she already had.
Her broken bones had been mended magically but she was still in extreme pain. All she could do was let her arm hang out of the side of her bed towards Inosuke.
"Inosuke…" She mumbled his name softly. "You call yourself weak but… I think you're completely wrong. You're being so harsh on yourself for no reason. I don't see someone who failed and almost died at the hands of the demon. I see someone… who wasn't afraid to fight. Who wasn't afraid to stand up against the odds. You may have fallen but what mattered was that you stood back up. You gave us a fighting chance and prolonged the battle enough for the two of us to be rescued."
Heat rushed to her cheeks and her eyes shook staring at his broken state. Gulping down a lump in her throat, she choked out shyly, "You're, um, you're my hero…"
Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Goto immediately went silent at the last of her words. Their eyes widened and shifted towards Inosuke to see how he would react. That boy always reacted strangely to kindness, gentleness, or any kind of affection. It was as if he wasn't used to be doted on or being shown basic human compassion.
But he didn't say anything. He just laid there… silently.
Kagami felt her heart ache at his silence. Either he was too depressed to hear her or he simply didn't care about her revealing her deep fondness for him. Just saying those words made her insides twist and turn with embarrassment, but it didn't look like it mattered. It was all she could do to just sigh and look away.
But her eyes were drawn back hearing the rustling of his bedsheets.
A small gasp left her mouth when she saw his arm hanging out the side of his bed towards her. If they had tried, if they had the strength to do so, they could extend their arms and grasp hands. To feel his callous hands in hers and give them a gentle squeeze would be heavenly. But the two of them were so pitifully weak at the moment, and that was okay. Just that small movement of his arm told her everything she needed to know and it made her face go hot.
Zenitsu looked like he was about to implode with either anger or frustration but Tanjiro hit the side of his head, smiling and giving her a thumbs up.
Kagami returned the smile and sent her gaze towards the ceiling. Even under immense pain and soreness from the agonizing assignment that was Mount Natagumo, she was happy and relieved. She and her friends made it through the night. They survived their encounter with strong demons and lived to tell the tale. Not to mention, they were rescued by amazing Hashira's she didn't even know existed.
She let out a small breath, feeling at peace, and closed her eyes to relax once more.
Tanjiro smiled when he got out of his bed later that day and grabbed Nezuko's box. The cuts lining his face had been cleaned, his broken jaw was reset and on the way to recovery, and only sore and numbness lined his limbs. He had enough energy to carry his sister to the room she was allowed to have near the hospital ward where he, Kagami, Zenitsu, and Inosuke would be sleeping.
He gently placed the box down and walked to the window. The colors of deep orange and red of the setting sun streaked across the beautiful sky. Pulling the curtains closed, ridding the room most of the sunlight, he turned to Nezuko's box, speaking, "It's all right now. They said it's fine for you to use this room, Nezuko."
Walking towards the bed, Tanjiro went to grab the folded blankets and pillows, to prepare her bed, but a sharp bolt of pain spiked through his abdomen. He instantly sat on the bed, clutching his side, groaning under his breath, "Ouch, ouch, ouch!"
Nezuko popped her head out of her box, her eyes staring curiously up at him, as he thought back to Mount Natagumo and how he got severely injured.
"The encounter on Mount Natagumo was really brutal. I gotta be honest right now, everything hurts like crazy," He groaned out painfully. He turned his head to Nezuko and grinned, adding, "Thanks for protecting me on the mountain. Who would've guessed that not only you, but Urokodaki, Tomioka, and Tenshi, as well… They're all risking their lives for us. They've done so much for us. That being said…" He trailed off thinking back at the last name spoken and sighed. "I feel sorry knowing Kagami was roped into the contract but she knew about you being demon and never acted upon her sworn duties. Even so, I know she wouldn't have hesitated to agree on those conditions."
Tanjiro sighed again, "I… have to become stronger. Even today… The master more or less saved both our lives."
The gentle man, the Hashira's Master, had a mysteriously soothing voice that calmed down any untamed attitude and released all tension in the air. Just listening to him speak made his head feel light. The way the Hashira acted around him, with such respect, loyalty, and honor, truly showed what kind of a man the Master was. Who… exactly was he?
He turned his head and chuckled softly seeing Nezuko fast asleep on the ground.
"That makes sense. You've had a long day," He said softly down to her sleeping state. "Even though I'm in a lot of pain and it's tough, I have to keep pushing forward. That's because I'll be a grown man one day. Then, I'll grow old and die. After that, the demon Nezuko will end up all alone. That would be far too lonely, wouldn't it, Nezuko?" His smile didn't fall from his face thinking of Nezuko never growing old and watching everyone she loved and would ever love die. Instead, he took it as inspiration and an even bigger drive to accomplish his goal.
He clenched his fists and Tanjiro's gaze hardened into one of determination, "I promise… I will turn you back into a human."
Angela sat on her knees beside the other Hashira in front of the Master in his mansion. They sat patiently, their eyes never leaving his, and he gave them all his usual soothing grin. He sat directly across from them with Hinaka and Nichika at his side. The sun had already set and the room was almost completely dark if it weren't for the two lit lanterns beside him.
"Just as you've all reported," He began to speak through the unwavering silence, "The demons' carnage has increased more than ever. Meaning the threat to human life is greater than it's ever been. We must bolster the ranks of the Demon Slayers. What do you all think?"
Shinazugawa bowed his head and answered, "The incident on Mount Natagumo made it very clear. The caliber of Demon Slayers has dropped tremendously. Most of them are useless. The trainers must've gone blind." He tried to continue speaking without a scoff or a huff, adding, "You'd think they could at least tell if someone's competent or not."
Uzui chuckled and put a hand to his chin, speaking, "Well, that kid today sure packed a lot of power. He landed that dazzling blow on you. He's got potential."
Shinazugawa lifted his eyes away from him and 'tsked' under his breath.
"The more the human population grows, the harder it becomes to control and unify them. Not to mention that the times have changed considerably in this era," Kocho spoke her piece with the same friendly but unsetting smile.
Himejima clutched at his japamala, softly crying, "Other than those who've had their loved ones brutally massacred, and joined the Corps, or those of distinguished pedigree who have hunted demons for generations, to ask anyone to harness as much or even greater resolve and drive to produce results would be much too cruel."
"I believe our Demon Slayers aren't given enough credit," Angela began to speak settling her frustrated eyes on Shinazugawa. "Their hearts are in the right place and they're using their strength to fight against evil. To say they're weak or useless is just cruel. They need to be nurtured and trained to their best. It could be either life or death. Every single person has the power to fight and do what is right. As long as their souls are not tarnished, no one is 'incompetent'."
Giyu nudged her arm and gave her a blank look. Angela knew what it exactly meant and bowed her head at the Master in apology.
"Still, considering Kamado and Yamato ran into a Twelve Kizuki so soon after joining the Corps… They may have the power to draw them! Even we rarely get the chance to confront one!" Rengoku announced with his usual victorious smile and lifted up a clenched fist. "I am envious!"
Master nodded his head. "Fair point. But the fact that Lower Five made such a drastic move probably means that Muzan is nowhere near Mount Natagumo. After all, as in the case of Asakusa, whenever Muzan wishes to hide something, he creates a clear diversion to throw us off. To be honest, it's quite frustrating," He explained to them all as they listened intently, "But those demons are still freely devouring humans, gaining strength and surviving. For the sake of those who have died, there is only one thing for us to do."
They watched him determinedly but with curiosity lingering underneath.
"I believe that, with you who are present today, the Corps' Hashira, I've assembled the finest unit since the first Breathing swordsmen of the feudal era," He smiled toothless but proudly at them all. "Tengen Uzui. Kyojuro Rengoku. Angela Tenshi. Shinobu Kocho. Mitsuri Kanroji. Muichiro Tokito. Kurai Sato. Gyomei Himejima. Sanemi Shinazugawa. Obanai Iguro. Giyu Tomioka. My beloved children, I look forward to seeing your success."
They were soon dismissed and everyone left his mansion in an orderly manner. The bright full moon shined down brightly at them lighting up the beautiful garden full of flowers and insects. All the Hashira went off in separate directions without another word. Kocho was going back to her home of the Butterfly Mansion and she was sure many others were doing to the same. Angela had walked to the pond, gazed down at the shimmering waters, and unfurled her wings.
Angela planned on taking off into the skies, to get lost in the wind and twinkling stars, but someone stepped up beside her.
"Rengoku," She said their name without taking as much as a sideways glance towards them.
He gazed up at the moon along with her, his arms tightly crossed over his chest, and his triumphant smile never faltered or wavered from his face. Not even from the disappointed aura she felt from his body. "Tenshi," He loudly declared her name.
Angela turned towards him, folding her wings back in, and asked, "Is there something you needed?"
"I wanted your thoughts on the boy and his demon sister," He bluntly and immediately answered turning his head to her.
Angela cocked an eyebrow at him. "You were very adamant on both of them being executed the second he arose from his unconscious slumber. When Shinazugawa's uncontrollable temper and abrasiveness took control, it didn't seem like you cared much at all as to what happened to Nezuko Kamado. So, I'm just curious as to why you want my thoughts on the siblings," She spoke almost coolly at her comrade-in-arms.
Rengoku turned away from her and back towards the moon. "You stood up for them when no one else did. Even went so far as blinding our Sato to keep her from attacking the boy. I want to see what you see in him, in the demon girl, that made you break the Corps' rules and sign your death to seppuku," He explained still holding that smile.
"Sato is undeniably in love with Shinazugawa even though she denies it profusely. She will do anything to make sure he is protected at all costs, even against 15-year-old boys," Angela mumbled with a small sigh.
She slowly lifted a hand up and small white star appeared in her palm. It shined brightly and lit up the garden more than the moon ever could. It twinkled and winked at her, such power and energy coursing through her body, as it bounced lightly in her palm. It was peaceful, calm, and gentle, such radiating beauty was pulsing delicately in her hand. To even witness such magical thing was a miracle and a sight to see.
Rengoku's eyes were fixated on the star and shifted them to hers when she placed her hand down, dimming the star to nothing.
"What you witnessed is but a piece of my power's core. It takes the shape of the holder's soul and bears everything it has to offer to whoever has the honor of witnessing it," Angela began to speak softly and hesitantly added, "This power… I wasn't born with the gift of being a swordsman. I wasn't born with the power of the angels. I was a normal kid who had a normal life. I grew up in a small village… until it was completely destroyed by demons."
Even though a painful memory was reentering her head, forcing her to feel all the terrible and heart-numbing emotions she felt as a child, her voice never shook. Her eyes stayed firmly on the moon and her hands stayed steady at her side.
"My family was slaughtered but I miraculously survived. I was taken in by priestesses and was raised along with other kids in their temple," Angela continued to explain thinking back on her younger years. "It wasn't what I would exactly call… a normal childhood. We were known as potential chosen ones who were supposed to inherit the power of the angels from the swordsman who erected the temple in the angels' honor. His name was… Adam, Adam Tenshi, and I loved him with all my heart. He was the older brother that we all wanted in our lives."
A small nostalgic smile spread on her lips thinking back on Adam. His long white hair draped over his shoulders but when he flew through the air it always trailed behind him. His yellow eyes were so beautiful and bright it always lit up their day. He was muscularly built, tall, strong, and always held a smile on his face.
"Adam trained us all on how to be proper swordsmen. No matter if you were a girl or boy, anyone had the potential to become the next Angel Hashira. Except I was a lost cause. I was sloppy, clumsy, and I couldn't even hold a sword correctly without cutting myself," She sighed out clutching at the necklace hanging around her neck. "I wanted to give up. I wanted to run away but Adam insisted I keep going. He saw promise in me when I couldn't see it myself. He wanted me to keep trying because he believed in me. So, that's what I did. I kept training for the day he would relinquish his power to someone."
"So, he relinquished it to you?" Rengoku couldn't help but ask.
Angela's hand fell from her chest and a storm brewed in her heart. "He didn't…" She grimly answered. "One day he never came back. We waited for months but there was no sign of him. That was until we heard he was slaughtered by a demon. Not by just any demon, an Upper Rank Twelve Kizuki…"
Her gazed hardened and she kept herself from spitting out, "We believed the power of the angels was lost with him. We all wanted and sought revenge for our fallen comrade, friend, and brother. I was only 12 when he was killed and, even though I couldn't fight, I wanted nothing more than to murder the demon who took his life. Except… I stopped myself." Tears welled up in her eyes, speaking, "Adam believed vengeance and revenge were just excuses for people to lash their anger out. He was a firm believer of justice and I knew if I were to go out there looking for the demon with hatred in my heart, he would most certainly be dead and his memory tarnished."
She unsheathed her turquoise-blue Nichirin Sword, the angelic runes embedded in the blade glistened in the moonlight, and continued, "I trained harder and got better with time. Determination, dedication, and concentration kept me from giving up, as well as the words of Adam believing in me. Then, roughly 3 years ago when I was 17, the power of the angels awakened in me. I was chosen. He chose me. I knew he was with me as time passed and still is right now. I took his last name as I reminder of why I am here. Why I am still here."
Lifting her blade in the air, she concluded, "I will find the demon who murdered him, I will find the Twelve Kizuki who took his life prematurely, and deliver the justice they deserve."
Rengoku's smile never fell and his eyes never left hers. Not once during her story.
"Seeing the boy fighting for his sister… it reflects and reminds you of your dedication to your brother, doesn't it?" Rengoku asked her genuinely.
Angela sheathed her blade and nodded her head. "It does," She answered simply. When he didn't say anything, her eyes fell to the ground. "You're disappointed in me. You didn't think I'd react with hastiness to see the Kamado siblings live, correct? I'm sorry, but I will not see either of them fall to the blade of a Demon Slayer. Not while I breathe," She spoke firmly turning completely to him.
"I do not wish to see you killed any time soon, Tenshi. It would be a sad day when your beauty and power will no longer grace us," Rengoku chuckled.
Her cheeks burned hot and she clasped her hands in front of her suddenly feeling shy.
He turned from her slightly, adding, "I am not disappointed. I… fully understand now why you did what you did to protect the boy and the demon girl. While I do not trust the demon, I do trust you and your judgement, Angela."
The tears that had built up in her eyes fell shortly after one by one. "Thank you, Kyojuro."
His smile softened slightly and he walked a few paces towards her. His hands softly grabbed hers and he held them in a gentle grip. Angela gazed lovingly up at him, the moonlight reflecting off his handsome features warmly, and drew herself closer to him. The only thing that separated their bodies from touching were their connected hands that placed the small bit of space between them.
To be within such close proximity of him again was torture. Especially when they were acting on opposite sides when it came to the situation of Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado. She was just glad… what happened and the solution didn't come between them.
"I'm glad to see you haven't been harmed at all by Lower Five," Rengoku spoke softly.
Angela giggled with a bright smile, "I'm glad to see you're still the same, Kyojuro. You never fail to notice the small things."
With that, the two Hashira leaned in and placed their lips on one another's. It was soft, loving, and peaceful. The wind softly blew by their faces, their haori's following suit, and the cold air nicked softly at their exposed skin. She could hear the waves of the pond's waters gently crash into one another and the small chirping of insects filled the air. Their clasped hands held onto each other's tightly and never let go. It really was a peaceful moment. A small moment she was glad to have with Kyojuro Rengoku.
When they both pulled away, Angela couldn't help but steal another kiss from his lips. He was taken slightly by surprise but didn't hesitate to indulge her eagerness.
She had been so afraid he would be upset with her. To be disappointed that she would choose to spare a demon's life in turn for her own. They almost didn't interact at all before, during, and after the sanction of the Kamado siblings, Shinazugawa's torture of Nezuko, and their release. The others didn't know about their relationship, they believed it should be kept hidden, but she so desperately wanted to say at least one thing to him. She didn't show how much it bothered her but he must've noticed. He always noticed.
Angela pulled away slightly, her lips barely grazing his, as she murmured, "Good night, Kyojuro."
"Good night, Angela," He softly muttered into her lips before giving her a small peck.
Unfurling her wings, Angela took off into the skies and towards her home. She bit her lip to hold in her giggles but she couldn't help unleash a small squeal into the night. At the moment, everything fell into place and felt right. She'll relish it for as long as she could.
