The moment the door flew open, resounding music burst out of the house.
"It's about time you ladies showed up!"
Neptune greeted the girls with his usual suave voice and stepped aside for them to enter. When the girls were inside, they noted some familiar faces that held red solo cups. They were reasonably late so the party picked up a bit ago.
"Hey, Nep," Yang greeted.
It's not too loud, Yang pleasantly noted. Probably for the faunus here. How thoughtful.
Neptune clapped his hands together like he prepared a speech. He probably had a spiel for every guest that previously entered.
"Quick run down," Neptune began. "Pool's in the back if you want to take a dip. There's also a hot tub. Games are in the basement. Upstairs is off-limits. The dog is up there and gets anxious. I guess you can go up there to pet her, but that's all. And whatever this is… is here."
When Ruby heard the dog line, her eyes widened. "A dog?!"
Faster than lightning, she zipped upstairs. Knowing it was futile to stop her, the girls watched her go. Neptune could clearly tell that Ruby drank a bit before arriving.
"We'll join you guys later," Blake almost laughed from her antics as she followed her.
Yang observed him and teased. "You look painstakingly sober."
"Very much so, I've already had to clean vomit from the toilet," Neptune led them over to the basement stairs.
That grossed Weiss out as she felt a shiver. "We need more people like you."
"Tell me about it," Neptune agreed and headed downstairs. "The jungle juice is right down here."
The freezerburn couple followed him down. Even more familiar faces scattered around the large room. Some students played pool, others the pinball machines, and a few were by the dartboard.
"Is the jungle juice good?" Weiss asked him.
"Sun says it is," Neptune replied, not having a sip for himself as promised. "Be careful, though. It'll sneak up on you, so take it slow."
Feeling warm through her body and her cheeks, Weiss grinned. "Thanks for the advice. You're great."
So she's nice to everyone when she's intoxicated, Yang observed, a little affected by her previous drinks. The ice princess is no more. The lukewarm princess is here.
From the sudden compliment, Neptune knowingly stared at Yang.
"We pregamed a lil bit."
"No other way to do it," Neptune liked their style. "Since you're already feeling it, I'd suggest taking the jungle juice a quarter of a cup at a time. Even that might be too much for you."
"Jeez," Yang whined as she held onto her girlfriend's arm, who went down another step. "You tryin' to kill us?"
"Hey," Neptune said in a bargaining tone. "She's very small and already tipsy. I'm trying to avoid a trip to the hospital here."
Yang shrugged in agreement. "Fair enough."
When the small group arrived in the basement, lots of people abruptly cheered. They looked over to see Sun with his arms in the air. An apple sat on his head with a dart halfway through it. A little to his left was a giggling Ruby, who apparently still had good aim while intoxicated.
"Bad! Neptune scolded them for their dangerous antics. "Bad idea!"
Utterly confused, Weiss asked. "How did she beat us down here?"
"The other stairs," Neptune said simply.
While they watched people congratulate Ruby for her aim, Sun approached them with a red face.
"So glad you could make it!" Sun chirped happily and handed them a pair of red solo cups. "Blake approves the jungle juice! I know, right? I'm awesome."
To test it, Weiss and Yang sipped the orange juice. It was surprisingly sweet and burst with flavor as it slid down their throats.
Weiss put a hand on his shoulder. "You've outdone yourself, my overly happy friend."
From the compliment, Yang grinned widely. That seemed to have made Sun's night.
It's like she's out to see as many smiles as she can tonight, Yang thought in amusement.
Sun jumped in the air to celebrate. "I am the man! Let me know if you guys need anything. Anything at all! You could want a chicken and I'd go get it, just have fun. Or Nep could get it."
Neptune pointed at his friend. "I'll do no such thing."
Yang put a hand under her chin like she considered it. "I'll take you up on that offer at a later time."
"Keep your ears peeled, Nep," Sun said jokingly and left to refill his cup.
When they were done talking, the freezerburn pair walked around the corner. A few people sat in a circle and in the center was an empty glass bottle.
Yang approached the group with a hand on her hip. "Spin the bottle? What are we, ten?"
Pyrrha glanced up at her and asked. "You were kissing people at ten?"
"That's besides the point!" Yang yelped, feeling less anxious now that the warmth spread through her body.
It'd been probably over a decade since Yang last played. As she gazed at her girlfriend, she knew that Weiss probably never heard of the game. She looked interested, so Yang held onto her arm.
"Are you really playin' that?" Yang asked.
To answer the question, Pyrrha sloppily spun the bottle. Fortunately, it landed on her boyfriend. Jaune leaned in and knocked over his red cup. Alcohol spilled on the carpet, but he didn't care as they kissed.
Lots of cheers resounded when they figured they were a couple.
"Everyone knows, now," Yang said with a smirk.
Slowly, they leaned away with crimson blushes.
Bashfully, Jaune rubbed the back of his head. "We're- ugh… going out."
Happy for them, Ren exclaimed. "When did this happen?!"
While Jaune explained, Yang and Weiss and Yang were still standing outside of the group.
"Join us!" Nora beckoned them over. "C'mon!"
"Yeah, join us!" Ilia agreed and chanted. "Join us!"
Soon, the whole group sang 'join us,' until the freezerburn couple sat down in the circle. While they weren't keen on giving out kisses, they had other plans.
It was then that Blake decided to tip the bottle to her left. As expected, it landed on Ruby. Blake looked pleased with herself when her friends gave her blank stares.
"It's called spin the bottle not tap the bottle!" Nora yelped.
"I have no choice but to follow the rules," Blake said dramatically.
Happily, Ruby leaned in for a kiss. When it lasted too long for Yang's liking, she grabbed Blake's shoulders and lightly pushed her away.
"Alright, alright, that's enough."
Her overprotective reaction earned several giggles.
Ilia slid the bottle over to her blonde friend. "Your turn."
Easily, Yang spun the bottle. No matter who it landed on, she would kiss her girlfriend. Until it pointed to Ruby.
"No, no," Ruby said and leaned back. "No."
"Yes," was all Yang said.
The conflicting sides caused the group to stare at the sisters in amusement.
"No," Ruby said.
"C'mere you!"
Without warning, Yang launched herself at her sister and peppered her head with kisses. In return, Ruby squealed and tried to wrestle her off. While they played, to the mirth of their friends, Neptune slipped in to clean the carpet with a stain remover.
When Yang got her fill of Ruby's giggles, she returned to her spot with a bright grin.
"Ugh," Ruby groaned and wiped her bangs. "You're the worst!"
Jokingly, Yang put a hand up to her ear. "What's that? I'm the best?"
Ruby spat out her tongue from across the circle.
At last, it was Velvet's turn to spin the bottle. While she did that, Yang finished her drink. She checked on her girlfriend's cup, which was also empty.
How long ago did she finish that? Yang thought, staring at her red and happy face. She's acting the same, so I bet she can have a little more.
"How're you feelin'?" Yang asked her softly. "Want some more?"
It was then that Weiss put a hand behind her neck and pulled her in for a kiss.
Holy boop, Yang thought as she closed her eyes, savoring her taste. She's so affectionate…
The kiss was short, but heated nonetheless. After Weiss kissed her deeply, she leaned away as quickly as the kiss started.
"I wanted a kiss," Weiss explained and hiccupped. "I got my kiss. Now I'm content forever."
Her reply caused Yang to giggle and her heart to smile. "That's cheating. The bottle didn't land on me."
Weiss pouted and crossed her arms. "Bottle shmottle. I don't need a bottle to kiss you, do I?"
"That'd be a little silly," Yang agreed and wrapped an arm around her back. "I could die happy right now, cuddle bug."
After Weiss sank into her side, Blake overheard their conversation.
"Don't be so dramatic."
Easily, Yang pushed her smirking friend away and stood.
"I'll get us more."
"You're the sweetest," Weiss said.
While Yang stood by the water tank not filled with water, Weiss watched the game unfold. Apparently, it was time for Yatsuhashi to kiss Scarlet. They were so obviously hesitant and struggled just to kiss each other's cheeks.
While Yang refilled the cups, Sun approached her.
"Can you help me out real quick?"
Yang set the red cups on a nearby table. "With?"
"Gimme a boost?" Sun asked, pointing to the bottle on the top shelf behind him. "I'd climb but don't want to knock anything over."
Confidently, Yang knelt and held out her palms. "Hop on."
Easily, Sun hopped onto her hands and received a huge leap upward. He swiped the large bottle with one hand in midair and fell, trusting Yang to catch him.
"You want wine now, too?" Yang asked as he was jostled to stand upright.
"It's for Ruby!"
Happy to serve his guests, Sun propped open the bottle and presented it to Ruby, who chirped with glee and gave him a hug. Yang watched the interaction with a wide smile and grabbed her two red cups.
She returned to the group and found that Weiss wasn't there.
"Where'd the ice princess go?" Yang asked them.
All eyes landed on her, but the students were silent until Jaune spoke.
"I saw her go up-upstairs," he finished with a hiccup.
Where'd she go?
With the new information, Yang traveled upstairs to find everyone but Weiss. She noticed Neo, who was on the couch next to Penny. Penny was on a tangent about how 3D printing is the future.
"Sal-u-tations, friend!" Penny exclaimed and noticed she was troubled. "What ails you?"
"Have either of you seen Weiss?"
Since she was mute, Neo pointed at the front door.
"She is outside," Penny informed, just as confused as Yang. "Someone I have not seen at school was with her."
I leave her alone for five seconds and she left the house? Yang thought. Something must be wrong.
Finding that odd, Yang rushed outside. A short figure stood by a larger figure. As Yang squinted, she realized it was Weiss and Neptune. This made Yang even more confused by Penny's earlier comment.
What're they doing out here together?
When Yang inspected the scene, Neptune's arm was around Weiss' shoulders as if to comfort her. While her face was red, Weiss looked distressed but didn't know how to express that in her state. It was like her intoxicated self struggled to keep a poker face.
The two walked back to the house while Neptune looked overly concerned. A prick of worry shot up Yang's spine from his reaction. Something must've happened. From watching them, an indescribable feeling of jealousy washed over Yang.
What happened?
Stay dandy,
