"Because Edison was a douchebag?"
Confident in her answer, Yang gave her roommate a double thumbs-up as she sat across from her. The girls stifled any chuckles from how self-assured she appeared.
Blake shook her head and exclaimed. "Wrong!"
As a consequence of her incorrect answer, Blake tossed a cheese puff into Yang's face. That elicited a yelp as Yang tried to dodge the soft ball of cheese to no avail. It tangled in her hair above her ear as she tried to swat it out. The girls snickered from how much she struggled.
"I mean, you're not wrong," Blake elaborated, which made Yang frown. "He was indeed a douchebag, but an important douchebag!"
Weiss sighed and put a hand under her chin. "Poor Nikola Tesla. He was the true genius."
The group drifted into silence as the day weighed on them. Moonlight shyly seeped in through the open windows. The girls had been studying the newest academic unit for a couple of hours now and decided to make a game out of it.
"Weiss!" Ruby called, which snapped her to attention. "What is a duel between three people called?"
Dumfounded, Weiss blanched. "What does that have to do with the unit?"
"Answer!" Ruby stood with a cheese puff in hand, ready to punish her and launch it at her face.
While Blake and Yang looked completely confused by the question, Weiss simply crossed her arms.
"It's called a truel, you dunce. Now give me my cheese puff."
Instead of rocketing the orange puff into her eyeball, Ruby softly tossed it in the air. Without moving from her seat, Weiss expertly caught it in her mouth.
Yang raised her eyebrows, impressed. "Do we want to know how you both knew that?"
Weiss sent her a sly smirk. "I thought you were the one who knows words and gives them out for free?"
"Common words!" Yang yelped, feeling her eyes become heavy. "I've never heard 'truel' in my life."
Weiss shrugged and shrank in her seat. "Then you're not a good wordsmith."
Speechless, all Yang could say was. "Damn."
"How eloquent," Weiss replied sassily.
Rather than argue, Yang accepted the outcome. She didn't have the energy to retort right now. It'd been a long school day and an even longer study session. The game made it more tolerable but it was time to call it a night.
"Are we done?" Yang whined after a yawn. "I'm beat."
Blake yawned after watching her and stood. "We gotta stop staying up so late."
Casually, Ruby stretched her arms and released a tiny mewl. When she moved to grab the empty plate centered on the table, Weiss grasped her hand to stop her.
"I got it. Go to bed."
Ruby smiled from how helpful she'd been the last week. Probably her way of showing gratitude for letting her live with them for protection.
"Thanks, mom."
That little comment almost made Weiss laugh. Almost.
Washing the plate of the leftover fruit took a few minutes. By that time, Ruby and Blake retreated into their own room. Meanwhile, Weiss slipped into the bathroom to find Yang brushing her teeth. Tired, Weiss joined her and slathered the toothpaste onto her own brush. For several minutes, the girls brushed with paste foaming at their mouths.
"Aw," Yang cooed with her mouth full. "It'sh like we're mawwied awready."
Weiss spit into the sink. "We skipped a lot of steps. Where's the ring?"
After chuckling, Yang spit into the sink and held up a hair tie that was around her wrist. "Will this suffice for now?"
Weiss tied it around her ring finger several times and presented it lightheartedly. "It might make my finger fall off, but it could work."
Lovingly, Yang pecked her on the forehead and held her hand. Together, they left the bathroom and shuffled into Yang's room. Weiss never grew tired of the burst of lavender every time she opened the door. The couple more or less rolled into the spacious bed and slid together under the sheets like moths to a flame.
Weiss had been living with them for about a week now, and this was her favorite part about it by far. Cuddling and sleeping with Yang never got old. It made her heart soar, yet be serene at the same time. The butterflies fluttered deep in her belly when she felt her like this. She wanted to stay like this forever, which made her think about the day ahead.
"Ugh…" Weiss lightly groaned. "I don't want to go to school tomorrow. Can we cuddle all day instead?"
"I'd like nothin' more," Yang replied, tightening their embrace as her chin rested atop her girlfriend's head. "We should do that one day. When I don't have to worry about more absences."
Weiss curled into her, her head rested above her chest. "This weekend?"
"After my therapy sesh, I'm all yours."
"Mmm," Weiss hummed happily and leaned up, leaving Yang to wonder why. "I'd rather have you now."
I'm close to her, but need to be closer, Weiss thought. It's never close enough.
Gently, Weiss pushed onto her shoulder so Yang was on her back. Yang complied and gazed up at her, watching the platinum blonde waterfall flow over her shoulder. When Weiss leaned down for a kiss, Yang tilted up her mouth to envelop their soft lips.
Smiling, Weiss soothed her fingers through her silky hair. The taste of Yang was familiar and comforting- like honey vanilla. Probably her chapstick. No wonder her lips were soft like silk.
Gingerly, Yang wrapped her arms around her back and pulled her down. She felt the same way. Yang couldn't get enough of her. From how blessed Weiss felt, she deepened the kiss. Yang's tongue was there to greet her's, and they danced together softly. It was gentle and full of passion, rather than raw desire.
Slowly, Weiss pulled away and gradually dropped on top of her. "Is this comfortable for you?"
"Doesn't even feel like you're there," Yang commented and tenderly scratched her head.
From the sensation, Weiss shivered and leaned into her touch. She enveloped her hands around Yang's back. "I'm not letting go."
I feel whole, Weiss thought, liking the feeling. The ultimate feeling of satisfaction and acceptance. She makes me feel complete.
Weiss rested her ear on her heart. Yang's heartbeat was calm- like an ocean of tranquil waves. Her breaths were slow and warm, settling on top of Weiss' head.
She's so cozy, Weiss thought as she felt their bodies press together. And soft…
From the realization that she used Yang's chest as a pillow, Weiss fiercely blushed. Thankfully it was pitch black. Otherwise, she wouldn't hear the end of it. In finality, Weiss clung to her and didn't want to let go.
"You're like a koala," Yang said in amusement and pecked her on the forehead.
In return, Weiss nuzzled her head into her neck. "I'm a pudgy bear?"
Weiss felt the slight vibration in Yang's chest. "You know what I mean. Take the compliment, cutey."
Weiss cleared her throat. "Thank you, blonde brute."
"Your acceptance has fulfilled me," Yang whispered. "G'night, Weiss."
"Night, Yang."
Based on how fatigued Weiss sounded, Yang gathered was also just as tired as she was.
They fell asleep in seconds.
Hastily, Ruby searched the desk for a specific robotic part.
The nano drone- Brutis- rested in front of the partners. It'd been a long day at school, but tech club made it worth it sometimes. The remote control was to the side, but one piece to the puzzle missing.
"Where's the GPS?" Ruby finally asked, baffled it was gone.
When Weiss heard the question, she felt the bump in her stocking prominently. The tiny piece of technology was uncomfortable there, but she needed it on her person at all times. She couldn't assume school was a safe place with Whitley around. Nowhere was safe.
"It's not like we need it," Weiss said to comfort her. "It must be somewhere."
"I guess there's no need to set it up then," Ruby admitted, sounding disappointed. "It was nice to have, though."
Little did Ruby know, Weiss already activated the tracker.
I'm sorry, Ruby. If I tell you where it is and my reasoning, you would undoubtedly be in danger.
About 40% of koalas have Chlamydia. It's a really bad problem. Poor koalas.
