Chapter 64, Robin vs Zane.
Today was the day, it was the day of the final duel of the year, it was the day that Robin would face Zane.
Everyone at the school was excited, they all knew that they was about to see two of the school's strongest duellists face off, everyone was expecting a good match.
The students was filling the stadium ready to watch the duel, Robin and Zane was currently getting ready, the duel would start in about 15 minutes.
Many of the students was talking about who they thought was going to win this duel, most thought that Zane was going to win, but there was a good amount of people who thought that Robin have a good chance at this.
Jaden was one of the few people who wasn't happy about this duel, "Aw man, I can't believe that Zane chose that monster over me" he said as he sat in his seat, "Jaden, I know that your not happy with Robin, but let him have this, he's worked hard for this" said Syrus.
"He doesn't deserve to have people cheering for him, he doesn't deserve any of this, he's a murderer" said Jaden bitterly, Syrus sighed he knew that this was a sour subject for Jaden but Jaden was really letting this get to him.
In one of the back rooms Robin was looking over his deck, he had been unable to get all of the cards that he needed for his new deck, so he was using a modified version of his old deck for this duel.
The room was quiet, it gave Robin time to think, Robin wouldn't deny how nerves he was for this duel, Zane was the best duellist at the Academy, if he could win this it would make everyone look at him as the best duellist here.
Robin heard the door open, he looked at his watch, "Strange, the duel doesn't start for another 10 minutes" he thought, Robin turned around and saw Alexis standing there.
"Alexis, what are you doing here, shouldn't you be in your seat" asked Robin, "Well, I just wanted to wish you good luck" said Alexis, "Thanks, I appreciate it" said Robin with a smile, seeing a friendly face put him at ease.
Alexis sat next to Robin, "So, are you ready for this" she asked, "As ready as I can be, I've made a few changes to my deck for this, and I know what Cyber Dragons are capable of" said Robin, "Good, I hope you win" said Alexis.
"There's something I need to give you before the duel starts" said Alexis, "Really, what" asked Robin, he wondered if Alexis wanted to give him some kind of powerful card that could counter Zane's deck.
Alexis leaned over and gave Robin a kiss on the lips, "If you win, I'll give you another one" she said with a blush, Robin's cheeks had turned red he hadn't expected Alexis to do that now of all times, "Wow, now I really hope I win" he said, "See that you do" said Alexis as she left the room.
Soon it was time for the duel, everyone held their breath as Robin and Zane walked onto the arena, "Robin, I hope that your as good as people say you are" said Zane, "Same to you" said Robin, both duellists looked determined.
Crowler was refereeing, "Zane, as this is your final duel here you may choose who goes first" he said, Zane looked Robin straight in the eyes, "Robin can choose" he said, "Thanks, you can go first Zane, I don't feel like getting OTK'ed" said Robin.
A few of the people in the crowd though that Robin had made the right decision, Cyber dragons was well known for their ability to win in one turn.
"Very well, let the duel begin" said Crowler as he stepped back, and with that the duel started.
"To begin I'll use Cyber Dragon Nachstar's effect, by discarding 1 monster I can special summon Nachstar to the field" said Zane as he discarded Cyber Dragon.
Cyber Dragon Nachstar ATK 200 DEF 200 LV 1 LIGHT machine.
"Now I'll use Nachstar's second effect, when this card is summoned I can special summon a monster from my graveyard with 2100 ATK or DEF" said Zane as the Cyber Dragon that he sent to the graveyard was summoned to the field.
Cyber Dragon ATK 2100 DEF 1600 LV 5 LIGHT machine.
"Now I'll use my 2 monsters to link summon, Cyber Dragon Sieger" said Zane as his new monster appeared.
Cyber Dragon Sieger ATK 2100 link 2 L/B LIGHT machine.
"Finally, I'll place 1 cards face down and end my turn" said Zane.
Robin started his turn, "Thanks to Sieger's effect to gain ATK points I can't beat it in battle" he thought, "I'll place a card face down and set a monster into defence mode, now I'll end my turn" said Robin.
"Before your turn ends I'll activate my trap card, Cybernetic Overflow" said Zane, "This card lets me banish Cyber Dragons from my hand, field or graveyard with different levels, then I can destroy an equal number of cards that you control".
Zane banished both Cyber Dragon and Cyber Dragon Nachstar from his graveyard to destroy both of Robin's cards, Robin's cards was revealed to be Purple Poison Magician and Waking The Dragon, Zane's eyes widened when he saw Waking The Dragon, while Robin smile.
"Thank you Zane, you've activated my cards effects, first since Purple Poison Magician was destroyed he will destroy your monster" said Robin as Cyber Dragon Sieger was destroyed.
"Second, since Waking The Dragon was destroyed by an opponents card effect it will let me special summon any monster from my deck or extra deck, now who should I summon" explained Robin as he looked through his cards.
"This one's perfect, I summon The Last Warrior From Another Planet" said Robin as the monster of his choice appeared on the field in attack mode, "And while this card is on the field neither of us can summon any monsters" explained Robin.
The Last Warrior From Another Planet ATK 2350 2300 LV 7 EARTH warrior.
"That's new, I haven't seen you use that card before" said Zane sounding a little impressed, "I knew I needed a few surprises if I was to stand a chance against you" said Robin with a smile.
A lot of the student was shocked at what had just happened, some people was wondering if Zane would be able to get out of this.
Zane's turn started, he didn't seem worried at all, "I'll begin my turn with Lightning Storm, this will destroy all monsters you control that are in attack mode" said Zane, Robin's monster was destroyed, "I shouldn't have put that thing into arrack mode" said Robin realising his mistake, "No, you shouldn't have" agreed Zane.
"Next I'll use Cyberlord Fusion, this card will let me fusion summon a monster that lists a Cyber Dragon monster as a material by returning the materials into my deck from either my field or banish zone" explained Zane, "I'll return both my banished Cyber Dragon and Cyber Dragon Nachstar to fusion summon Chimeratech Rampage Dragon".
Chimeratech Rampage Dragon ATK 2100 DEF 1600 LV 5 DARK machine.
Everyone knew that Robin was in trouble, he had no cards on the field to protect himself.
"Now I'll use Rampage Dragon's effect, he lets me send up to 2 LIGHT machine monsters from my hand to the graveyard, and for each monster I sent Rampage Dragon gains an adisonle attack" explained Zane as he sent Cyber Dragon and Cyber Dragon Core to the graveyard.
Just then Chimeratech Rampage Dragon was destroyed, everyone in the crowd was shocked, even Zane was surprised by what had happened, Robin had a smile on his face as he revealed that he was holding Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit.
"Ghost Ogre, by discarding that card you can destroy 1 face up card that just activated it's effect" said Zane who had realised what had happened to his monster, "That's right" said Robin as he sent Ghost Ogre to his graveyard.
Both duellists now had an empty field, however it was still Zane's turn, Zane looked at the card that he had left in his hand, "I end my turn" he said, nobody could believe that Zane had just ended his turn with nothing to defend himself.
Robin started his turn, "I summon Breaker in attack mode" he said, Breaker gained a spell counter thanks to it's effect.
Breaker The Magical Warrior ATK 1600 DEF 1000 LV 4 DARK warrior.
Breaker The Magical Warrior ATK 1600 + 300 = 1900.
"Breaker, attack" ordered Robin, Breaker attacked Zane directly dealing the first damage of the duel.
Zane LP 4000 – 1900 = 2100.
"Now I'll place a card face down and end my turn" said Robin.
"That's a shame, you should have beaten me while you had the chance" said Zane as he started his turn, "Since you control a monster and I don't I can special summon Cyber Dragon from my hand".
Cyber Dragon ATK 2100 DEF 1600 LV 5 LIGHT machine.
"Now I'll activate the spell card Cyber Revsystom, this card will summon a Cyber Dragon from my hand or graveyard and make that monster immune to being destroyed by card effects" said Zane as he special summoned the Cyber Dragon that was in his graveyard.
Cyber Dragon ATK 2100 DEF 1600 LV 5 LIGHT machine.
"Now I'll use my 2 LV 5 monsters to xyz summon Cyber Dragon Nova" said Zane as his new monster appeared on the field.
Cyber Dragon Nova ATK 2100 DEF 1600 RK 5 LIGHT machine.
"Next, I'll use Nova's effect, by detaching 1 material I can summon a Cyber Dragon from my graveyard" said Zane as he summoned the Cyber Dragon that he just detached from Nova back to the field.

"That thing just doesn't stay dead" said Robin, "I'm not done" said Zane.
"Now I'll use Cyber Dragon Nova to xyz summon Cyber Dragon Infinity" said Zane as Cyber Dragon Infinity was ranked up on top of Nova.
Cyber Dragon Infinity ATK 2100 DEF 1600 RK 6 LIGHT machine.
"Infinity gains 200 ATK points for each material attached to it" explained Zane, Infinity currently had 2 materials attached to it since it had gained Nova's last material.
Cyber Dragon Infinity ATK 2100 + 400 = 2500.
"Now I'll use Infinity's effect, once per turn I can target 1 monster on the field that is in attack mode and attach it to Infinity as another material, and that includes your monsters" said Zane as Breaker was attached Infinity as a material leaving Robin with no monsters on the field.
Cyber Dragon Infinity ATK 2500 + 200 = 2700.
"Now Cyber Dragon attack him directly" ordered Zane, "I activate my trap card Blazing Mirror Force, this will destroy both of your monsters and inflict damage to both of our LP equal to half of their original ATK" said Robin.
"That won't work, I activate Infinity's last effect, if a card is activated I can detach a material from Infinity to negate that card and destroy it" explained Zane as he detached Cyber Dragon from Infinity, Robin's Blazing Mirror Force was negated.
Cyber Dragon Infinity ATK 2700 – 200 = 2500.
Now that Robin's trap card was gone Cyber Dragon was able to complete it's attack.
Robin LP 4000 – 2100 = 1900.
"Now Cyber Dragon Infinity end this duel" ordered Zane, Cyber Dragon Infinity attacked Robin directly.
Robin LP 1900 – 2500 = 0.
The duel ended with Robin's defeat, Robin was clearly disappointed with the result, "I guess I still have room to grow" he said, Zane was already putting his deck away, "I hope that your able to learn from this lose and improve from it" he said.
Most of the crowd was cheering for Zane while a few seemed sad that Robin had lost, Jaden didn't seemed pleased by any of this, "See that's why I should have duelled Zane, I know I would have won" he said, however the cheering was so loud tat no one heard him.
Chancellor Sheppard walked onto the arena, "Congratulations Zane, I'm happy to see you win your final duel here at the academy, are there any final words you'd like to say to the other student while everyone's here" he said.
"No, I think that my actions was enough for them" said Zane who was walking away from the arena, "OK, what about you Robin" said Sheppard as he turned to Robin, however Robin was also walking away from the arena.
Sheppard was left standing in the middle of the duelling arena completely alone with everyone watching him, "That was a great duel wasn't it" he said feeling very awkward right now.
