Sonic, who was currently controlled by Aleena, was walking down the empty hallway. Since it was late in the evening, not many Mobian workers were there. He was able to search for Sonia without interruption. When he got close to her, his medallion started to glow a bright pink indicating he was close. He looked into one of the few windows of a room and saw her lying on a hospital bed. He immediately rushed in and stopped just by her side. She was badly hurt from the attack. She had bandages all over her body and hooked onto several machines. 'I think that's a bit much' he thought to himself. He turned back to his sister and dropped to his knees next to the bed.

"Sonia…? Sonia, can you hear me?" He said filled with worry.

She didn't respond, not even a single twitch in response.

"Sonia…" he whispered. His voice started to sound like Aleena's.

He rested his forehead on the side of the bed looking down in defeat.

"I should've sent you sooner… I knew it was too dangerous for you to stay… But you wanted to help, only for you to get seriously hurt… What kind of mother am I to put my children in harm's way?! I am a terrible mother, I'm so sorry…"

Tears overcome her resistance and start to fall. How could she? Letting her children fight the frontlines of a hopeless battle. She hated herself for that, even if they insisted. Now, look at her. She is alone, away from her children at who knows where. By the same man that once took their home and was the cause of their separation. He has done it again and succeeded, how can she help now?

A slight twitch of the incapacitated hedgehog's fingers could be seen, but Aleena doesn't see that. At hearing the familiar voice, she calls out,

"M-mother?"

Aleena stops her sobs and slowly raises Sonic's head with wide eyes to see her daughter slowly come to life. Sonia's eyes opened very slowly, blinking frantically. It seemed she can't keep them open much for a bit, but she was able to make out a figure who looked like her brother but her mother was nowhere in sight. Her vision was blurred so much she couldn't see the different color of his eyes before saying,

"Sonic… where's mother? I just heard her …" she said slowly.

Not knowing how to tell her that it was her in Sonic's body, she just replied with, "Sonia, before you say anything, just know that I am always with you."

Sonia was completely lost on hearing her mother's voice from her brother. She took another look and her vision began to clear. It was Sonic on the outside, but that's when she saw his eyes.

"Sonic-… Mother?!" She gasped.

"I have to go, take care of yourself and your brothers… and new friends…" Sonic's eyes closed and leaned onto the bed before straightening back up disoriented.

"Ugh… huh, wha?"

Sonia saw his eyes were back to an emerald green shine. Possibly indicating that he is in control now. Their eyes met and were frozen for just a moment.

"Sonia?! You're awake! Wait, how did I get here? I thought the doctor wouldn't let us see you. He wouldn't tell us-" his confusion was interrupted by a huge hug from Sonia.

"Uh… Sis, what's with the hug?"

"I've missed you so much…" She softly replied.

Sonia let go from the hug, then proceeded to punch his shoulder hard.

"Ow! Hey, what gives?"

"And that's for leaving us after we found mom!"

"Heh, same old sis." He smirked as he rubbed his shoulder. "I guess you're alright, since you are able to move around with all those bandages."

She looks back at herself seeing them all over herself.

"Well, they still feel sore, but I feel like I was in a shredder. Mostly in my legs."

"Can ya walk?"

"Oh Sonic, please." She pulls the sheets off her and sits up, preparing to stand.

"A few scratches can't stop me from- Ngh!" She falls back on the bed after her failed attempt to stand.

"I guess those scratches aren't the only thing." He said with a sarcastic look at her.

"Oh, quiet. I'm just a little sore. I'll be fine in the morning… But I don't want to be here, I want to be at home…"

"Don't worry. Once we regroup, we'll have it back. Maybe even for good, this time."

Sonia's defeated expression started to turn into one of hope. He was right, they always fight back no matter what. That's how they won the first time. But now? Who knows.

Sonic looked over the room to help his sister and found a wheelchair by the door. He took it and extended it so she could sit on it.

"Get on, I'll deal with the doctor."

"Fine, but you aren't going alone. If I can convince them I'm fine, they have no choice but to let me go."

"Of course they have to let you go if you ask, you're the princess of Mobius!"

"Wha- huh- Sonic! You know what I mean!"

"Haha! Whatever. Come on, I have some friends that would like to see you."

Sonia agreed and was being wheeled away outside of the room and was intercepted by another doctor asking where they were going. Sonia expressed that she wants to leave and be under the care of her brothers. The doctor was hesitant at first but whether or not she was royalty, she had the right to leave like any other mobian. He discharged her from the medical center's care and Sonic was nearing the waiting area where the others were sitting asleep in the chairs besides Silver. He was just sitting there reading a magazine to pass the time. He notices Sonic and Sonia enter and puts the magazine down and walks to them.

"Sonic? Are you alright?"

"Yeah. I'm fine, Silver."

"Uhh, Sonic? Mind telling me who this guy is?" Sonia questions.

"Oh, this is Silver. He's a friend of mine. He wasn't at first but he came around."

"Please, don't remind me." Referring to the whole iblis incident.

"Wait, Is that? Knuckles?!" Sonia uttered.

Startled by someone yelling his name, the echidna wakes up with a jolt and looks around to find the source.

"What? Huh? Sonia?! You're alright!" He walked towards the hedgehogs.

"Knux? When did you get here?" Sonic questioned.

"I couldn't sleep, I had to come see if everything was alright."

Sonic saw that his echidna friend was covering something up, but he knew the real reason. Sonia and Knuckles have been showing them slight affection for each other, but they never really moved on beyond past being friends. Especially with him and Knuckles leaving to fight off Eggman.

"I'm so glad you're here! I haven't seen you in years!" Sonia exclaimed.

"The same to you, but I was kind of hoping we meet again under better circumstances." He shrugged.

"Wait, Where's Manic?" she asked

"Right over there, sleeping with Tails." The echidna replied.

"Tails?"

"Yeah, he's kinda like my lil' bro. I met him shortly after I left."

"Lil' bro?... You didn't replace us, did you?" Sonia started to give him sad eyes.

"What?! No way, sis! I would never do that. I may have adopted him, but he is no replacement."
"Adopted?"

"Ugh… I gotta explain both pasts now." he said sarcastically.

"You mean you haven't told them about us?"

"I couldn't! Look I'll explain later, alright?"

"Fine, but what was that fox's name again?"

"Tails, but his real name is Miles Prower. We call him that because of… well, just two tails."

"Prower?" Sonia blurts out. She gave a confused look before going into deep thought. Prower? Why does that sound so familiar?

"What's wrong? Does that name ring any bells?"

"I don't know but it sure sounds familiar to me…"

"Why don't we just go home and rest for the night? It's really late and I don't think those two are gonna wake anytime soon." Knuckles said while gesturing to Tails and Manic still sleeping.

"Oh, yeah… Heh, if only I had an emerald, I could chaos control all of us there in an instant." Sonic jokingly said.

Little did he know his bright purple aura had returned and everyone looked at him before a split second later they were all back home.

"What the?!" Silver shouted.

"How did you do that?" Sonia said in awe.

"I-I don't know! One moment I just thought of being here and the next we're there!" Sonic also had confusion.

That's when he noticed the aura around him. He remembered the short conversation he had with his mother and made a connection. Did he use his mother's powers to teleport?

"I… I think I have mom's powers…"

"What?! You have mother's powers?! How?!"

"Enough with the questions! Ugh… I have a headache. I'm going to bed. Goodnight, guys."

Sonic left the group and headed to his room. He knows he has a lot to explain, but he can't just answer everything at once. Not even his whole crew were there so it would've been best to wait so everyone could hear. He closed the door behind him and went to his bed and started to drift to sleep. But then, his medallion started to glow and it felt like it was giving him a sense of safety. He smiled and started to sleep…

Sonic found himself waking up in a dreamscape of Green Hills. But the land was bright as the sun but the sky was dark and full of stars. He knew this was a dream but it was just too beautiful.

"Woah…"

"So, this is your new home…" a strange feminine voice said.

He turned around to see a tall figure with a red cloak. A hoodie covering most of her face.

"I wouldn't say this is my home." He replied slowly walking towards the figure.

"Oh? Why is that? Don't you live here now?"

"Well… I do live here, yes. But… This isn't my home, I know where my real home is. Since this is just a dream or something, I guess no one will really know. That is until I have to tell everyone tomorrow…"

Everything around them starts to shake and turn, the entire scenery was then replaced with an all too familiar city. The streets were trashed, buildings damaged, and other buildings looked like they were made of metal.

"Well, this is unexpected…" the cloaked one said.

"What do you mean? This is Robotropolis…. My actual home. Kind of a dump isn't it? I probably should've stayed and helped the city, instead of leaving everything behind. I bet they are still having trouble restoring it without me…"

"On the contrary…"

Sonic turns around to face the mysterious figure with a puzzled expression.

"Maybe I should show you what Robo- I mean, Mobotropolis actually looks like…"

The same event occurs as before with all the shaking and the city changes to view a perfect sunny day with the streets cleaned and mobians all roaming around free. Men, women, and children of all ages roam the streets, happy that their home is back. They all seemed so happy, but he couldn't feel the same. His smile fell after that, to which the cloaked figure saw this and questioned the blue hedgehog.

"What's wrong, child?"

"It's just… I wished I could've been there. I wanted to stay but I couldn't let Eggman hurt anyone else after what he's done. Oh, they hated me for leaving. They… begged me to stay. But if I did… He would've won years ago…"

"When were you planning on returning to your home?"

"After I finally defeated Eggman for good, I guess… I thought it would be a few months since he was weak and didn't have an army. I wasn't expecting to stay for so long… 5 years now? Manic… Sonia… What am I gonna tell them? What about… Mom…?"

The woman freezes after hearing that.

"What will she think? Her son, leaving to fight endless battles… A war with no end… a stalemate… Now look at us… My brother and sister were nearly killed as he went back and I wasn't there for them! What kind of brother am I?!"

"Sonic…"

"I even left my mother without even saying goodbye properly!"

"Sonic-"

"I don't even know what happened to her!"

"Sonic!"

"For all I know she could be DEAD!"

"Sonic Maurice Hedgehog! (Gasp)" She put her hands over her mouth, realizing she said too much and her disguised voice broke free. Sonic froze, wide eyed, and spun around to face her.

"H-How do you know that!? And did your voice just change? Who are you!" He snapped.

This was it. She exposed herself, she must come clean. She let out a long sigh before she reached for her hoodie and pulled it back. Her entire face was revealed and Sonic nearly fainted. It was his mother, still wearing her crown and dress underneath.

"Mom?!"

"I'm not dead, Sonic. I will always be with you to the very end. I have to go, I revealed too much already."

"Mom, wait!"

"We will meet again, I'm sure of it." Everything starts to fade to white before Sonic could reach her.

"Mom!"

"Mom!" He repeated as he jumped out of his bed and fell with a big thud. He quickly got up and started looking around only to see he was back in his room with his medallion in hand. Was that actually mom? No way, I had to be dreaming. But why did it feel so real? His train of thought was interrupted by running footsteps before his door swung open.

"Sonic? Are you alright? I heard something…"

"Tails? Uh, I'm fine. Why are you up so early?"

"Early? It's 11:30?"

"What?! How did-"

"Yo! Sonic, everyone's here." Manic said from behind the kitsune.

"Huh?"

"Did you forget already? You said you wanted the gang to be here to explain everything."

Sonic facepalmed "Oh, right… Let's get this over with. I feel like I'm about to get clobbered by Amy… again…"

The fox just laughs as he walks away but the green hedgehog shows only confusion.

"Don't ask…" Sonic replies.

They both made their way to the living room where everyone was waiting.

"Ok, Sonic. Time to reveal everything…" he thought, bracing himself for their reactions. Who knows? Maybe Amy would put the clobbering to a minimum. He hopes, anyway…

Oh boy, A full backstory is brewing up. And from an unexpecting character! Stay tune for Chapter Seven: The Truth! (Which at the time of this post is nearly past the word count of this chapter)
